Yessss. Yes to these damn good tacos!!! We stopped by after going to a nearby beer and wine garden spot and I wanted a little snack. Ended up ordering a steak taco, a carnitas taco and an empanada. All were damn good! The steak had to be my fav which was full of flavor and carnitas were delicious as well with a taste of crispness. Yum!! The empanada was unlike any I have ever had. It had other veggies mixed within the meat like bell peppers and onions and some seasoning that just made it addicting. Pretty oily but I'm seriously not complaining. We love this hidden gem! Everything is super tasty and fresh! Love love love the burrito mojado, Cali burrito and omg the empanadas! They have a super thin and crispy crust and are incredible. Please go in and sit for a few minutes and enjoy their crispy tortilla chips on the house with an amazing bean sauce. Their red hot sauce is also a must and just the right amount of spicy. When I tell you it was a dam good burger, almost a religious moment... you should trust me. Far better then anything you would get at Fathers Office... mind you I'm only comparing the "burger" quality, portion, seasoning etc... you can't compare anything else. Double patty that combined is about 1.5" thick! The tomato, sliced from the heart. Thousand Island on one side, Mayo, Ketchup on the other... lightly toasted sesame seed bun. It was one impressive experience and I can attest! Being a native to Los Angeles, growing up on burgers such as Tommy's (Beverly & Rampart), Barneys Beanery, Fat Burger, Ships, Flooky's, Pinks, Jans, Delores, The Counter, In & Out, The Apple Pan, Astro Burger, The Palm (which still is ranked. #1 but it's a ground steak burger, hard to beat!)... WOW!!! This place is legit! The food is amazing!! They came and catered our post game meal for the Harvard Westlake Baseball team and families and it was a huge hit! The catering: they did a phenomenal job! They came and set up and served like pros. They had a great professional setup. At our event we had tacos, rice, beans, two types of salads, chips, and LOTS of DELICIOUS salsa! They were quick and efficient during set up and serving. They even helped serve shrimp that one of the team moms made due to it being a Friday and during lent. The food: AMAZING! These are some very legit street tacos. We had steak, chicken, and carnitas and they were great. The salads we had were phenomenal (especially the beet and jicama one). And the salsas were so good I could drink it. I am pretty impressed with this place. I was a bit skeptical about the empanadas because it felt like this place was stretching themselves too thin. Is it possible to do tacos, burritos, AND empanadas well? The answer is yes. I'm not sure if this place pivoted or if they already were very competent in empanadas, but the food here is great. Your bar may be Johnny Pacific, but you should give this place a try. Service is superb too. I provided a list of orders for an office food run and all items were grouped in bags. There was oddly no wait and the food came out fast which is impressive considering there were just two people behind the counter. I love that you get chips while waiting for food. And they are topped with cheese, beans, and sour cream. Deluxe complimentary chips. The chips are likely house made. They have great crunch. Growing up in a predominantly Mexican household, I tend to avoid Mexican food in the LA area as it can either be 1. far too overpriced and 2. sadly underwhelming. Casa De Papi makes a textbook street taco. The carnitas combo plate, with rice, black beans and chips, is hard to beat, and we've sampled a lot of them in the area. The carne asada taco is also excellent. The place is clean and comfortable and the staff is super friendly. They asked if we wanted a basket of chips while we waited for our order. So far, I've tried their burrito, empanada, nachos, and pastor tacos--and everything was excellent. Their tacos are bigger than some other spots and their nachos are enough for two. The meats they cook are incredibly flavorful and moist. Prices: reasonable. Parking: parking shouldn't be an issue. It's located in a shopping center (across the street from the Ralph's shopping center) so there are a lot of parking spaces. People: fun for all. Perks: the staff are friendly and before the pandemic they had indoor seating available. Due to the pandemic, their normal operating hours have changed where they close at 6pm on some days. Truly amazing food!! My expectations were high, with all the 5star yelp reviews we were expecting great food....and we got it!! Customer service was amazing, staff was super friendly and seemed excited for us to try their food when they discovered it was our first time in, that's always a good sign :-) Service was also much quicker than we were expecting...our orders take 30+min just about anywhere we go, they had us rolling in half the time, which is a testament to how hard they work!! We ordered alpastor, asada, & chicken tacos. We ordered beef, chicken, and spinach/cheese empanadas. We ordered chips/guacamole and an alpastor torta(the joy of eating every meal european family style with a family of 7 :-)) Everything was great. The asada tacos were definitely a favorite all around(the chicken was a bit bland/dry-although good with salsa, the alpastor was not what we were used to, it was more of a lean pork in sauce, which was good, just different from the seasoned fatty pork we are used to). All of the tacos were STUFFED FULL of meat!! Warning!! The torta is HUGE, like size of your face huge!! We cut it into 12 LARGE pieces to share. The salsa verde was amazing, the roja was fire-in every sense of the word ;-) my husband slathered it on everything, while the kids and I favored the green all the way!! Future orders will consist of alpastor and asada tacos(no alpastor for the little kids next time, the adults and big kids loved them), spinach/cheese empanadas all around, and chips with salsa and guacamole. The portions are huge all around, we ate our lunch and still had some leftover for a dinner(just needed a snack/dessert to round out the day). That was a pleasant surprise!! Came here today and I think i've found my new go-to mexican restaurant. I don't mind how small it is and honestly the prices are great! I got carnitas and el pastor tacos. The carnitas were amazing especially with the green salsa they have. The el pastor were even better, and in my opinion, the best i've had in a while! Sad they don't have aguas frescas, but they do have soda! My boyfriend got the milanesa torta. He ate the whole thing and said it was one of the best tortas he's had. The flavors of the beans, cheese, and milanesa make this dish hard to put down. You're going to want to eat it all. Overall, great food great service. Friend kept recommending and I only live three minutes away, so I finally went today for lunch. Did not disappoint. I tried all three of the pupusa what were available (spinach & cheese, beef, and chicken) and they were amazing!! Casa do Papi has best chips and refried beans in the west valley. Their nachos are easily 2 meals. The burrito is so flavorful, I always end up wanting 2 despite the huge size. Putting fries in a burrito, who'd thought it'd work? The empanadas are fried and sometimes a bit little overdone but always delicious and filling. I think Joey's on Reseda has more flavorful asada, but it's not worth the drive when CDP delivers everything to near perfection. Service is friendly and fast. I called to ask a few questions to see what vegan/vegetarian options there are. They were unable to tell me what was in the flour tortillas because there's no brand on the bags they get, or ingredient list. And they couldn't confirm whether there was milk or lard in the flour tortillas or not. So I asked about their beans and rice to maybe get a side of them, and initially they said they're vegan. So I asked again, to confirm, that there's no lard or chicken stock in the beans and rice. He said that there's chicken stock in both. Chicken stock is not vegetarian. Their menu has a vegetarian burrito with the beans and rice in it. So, warning to vegetarians and vegans that even their beans and rice have chicken stock in it. Normally I never like to post a negative review, but if they're advertising a vegetarian burrito (and telling me over the phone that the vegetarian burrito is vegan if you remove the cheese) and the beans and rice have chicken stock in them, and they can't confirm that there's no lard in the flour tortillas... unacceptable. read more
