Tried Casa De Pasta for the first time this past weekend. All in all, we enjoyed the food and thought our dishes were very good. I'll start off this review by mentioning when we arrived. The restaurant is in an old house, so we parked and went up to the entrance with the white lights strung on the hand rails, the name on the awning assuming that was the entrance. When we walked in we were right in the middle of the dining room. Looking around confused, we then walked through the restaurant to what we thought was the hostess station. It was actually a server station so they then told us to go to the hostess' station at the bar. We had reservations so we were seated right then but we noticed our whole dinner that multiple people also assumed that the entrance we went in was the main entrance. I felt bad for the tables by the door because it was a chilly night and there were many customers coming through standing confused as well because they thought that was the main entrance. Aside from that, we were seated but waited probably about 10 minutes before we were greeted from any server. Once she came, we ordered drinks and luckily those came fairly quickly. Once we were served our drinks we then ordered dinner. The chicken riggies caught my eye because I absolutely LOVE that dish! I also received soup or salad with my dish so I chose a ceasar salad. My husband ordered gnocchi with a meatball and the lobster bisque. The bread and garlic butter you get at the table was very good. I never put butter on my bread unless it's garlic, so it's safe to say I loaded my bread with it! As for my ceasar salad it was perfect. I hate when restaurants load up on the dressing to points when it makes the lettuce soggy, but this salad was very fresh, crisp, and perfectly dressed. My husband enjoyed his lobster bisque, but said it was a little too peppery for him. Our entrees came and the portions are definitely huge! My chicken riggies was delicious, and my husband liked his gnocchi. We both ended up boxing our dinners and it didn't even look like we touched them! We were very full afterwards. We definitely were too full for dessert, but once our server brought us our boxed dinners, I thought it was a little odd that she assumed we were done already and told us she was bringing our check. Had we been offered dessert or coffee, we would have said no but they did have a pumpkin cheesecake special that I was tempted to order it to go. As for our opinion, the food itself is very good. My critiques are mostly about the entrance, and the service. Don't get me wrong, our waitress was very nice but having to wait 10 minutes to even be greeted by one was a little unusual. Sooooooo delicious. Their potato gnocchi is amazing, and they are not stingy on their seafood. Went their with my parents, we each ordered something different. 2 of us ordered off the specials board, and the other 2 ordered off the menu. Everything was excellent. My mother ordered the scallop pasta and it came with 6 LARGE scallops. Everything had plenty of trimmings, not just plates of pasta. Make Reservations!!! Even during the week. Located in a house, it is cozy. The bread and butter starts you off, and you know it is going to be good. You can choose between a cup of soup or salad. We all opted for salads. I enjoyed the Cesar one. Collage age daughter has the Stuffed Shells with one very large meatball, she somehow managed to eat the entire portion...which would have fed 2 people. So, I would say it was quite delicious. I could only eat 1/3 of the lasagna, due to the enormous slice. It was very tasty. Nice sauce. My husband had the white clam linguini - he said it was ok....but I have his Italian mother's recipe that is to die for, so I'm not sure you can trust his opinion. read more

I visited Casa De Pasta for dinner on Mother's Day with a group of 4. We had made a reservation but had to wait about 20 minutes for our table to be prepared. The friendly host showed us to the bar where we had a drink while waiting. The restaurant is small, and the one minor downside to my experience here was that four adults (three with long legs) kept trying not to kick each other under the table. In spite of that, the food was excellent and the pricing was very reasonable. I was impressed with the risotto balls, which I was happy to be able to order as they didn't contain the standard prosciutto. For dinner, I had the "create your own pasta dish" with fettuccine, alfredo sauce, and mushrooms. It wasn't super oily like the alfredo sauce dishes I've had at other Italian restaurants, and it was a large enough portion to give me lunch for the next day. After dinner, we were too full for dessert but enjoyed the coffee, and all mothers received a long stemmed red rose. Service was attentive, and the meals and appetizers came out at just the right time without making us feel rushed. I'd be glad to eat here again! read more

Great Italian food. The staff was so friendly and always readily available. The wine selection was very nice for a small restaurant. My boyfriend and I started with the fried raviolis. They were the perfect amount of crunchy and cheesy. The dipping sauce came warmed which is nice. For entree I got the gnocchi which tasted like true homemade pasta. Sauce had the perfect amount of red pepper flake. My boyfriend got the bolognese. He claimed it was delicious. Sadly, we didn't get dessert but we will be back to try again! read more

We have been enjoying Casa for years, as does the rest of my extended family. Nice to have a drink at their updated bar before heading into dinner. Lots of specials every night, reservations are helpful for prime times or parties over 4. Bread and butter often make me full before dinner comes, but I don't care because I always try to bring home half my dinner for later. Traditional Red sauce, lasagna is meaty, cheesy and to die. This place is amazing, I was a little skeptical at first because the restaurant looked like a house on a neighborhood street. Don't let the exterior image fool you. My boyfriend and I ended up here as a consequence of the long wait-time at Rio Tomatlan on a Saturday night. I'm so glad we came, as I ended up having a better culinary experience than I ever have at Rio. We didn't have to wait, although the dining room was otherwise full, and our server was helpful and attentive. The complementary bread and garlic butter were notably good... we ate the whole basket and then asked for a little bit more, and our server kindly obliged. I ordered chicken french with fettuccine and was very satisfied. The generous portion ended up making two meals for me - I took half home and ate it for lunch the next day - and the flavor was perfect. The dish had a particularly sharp citrus tang that was not too overpowering, and the zucchini dish served on the side was a nice surprise. Oh, not to mention that all the entrees come with both soup or salad and pasta or macaroni and cheese. I got the house salad which was simple and tasty and had my pasta served under the chicken although you can get it on the side with sauce if you'd like. We opted not to get dessert since we were planning on heading over to Cheshire Creamery after, but the options looked and sounded tantalizing! I've been going to Casa de Pasta since I was a child. It's always been a solid choice for Italian. I always get the gnocchi, and it's delicious. It's a small place with a good atmosphere. I'd like to start off by stating I should have really took into consideration all the Yelp reviews Bc some of them are spot on. Date of visit: 1/9/16 First off, we had a reservation for 630pm which we did arrive early and the hostess was clearly annoyed. She sat at this too small of a table against of the wall and when I asked for something bigger she had no clue what to do or even tried to move us and replied "take it or leave it." I chocked it up to being young and inexperienced. Onto the service, at first our waitress seemed pleasant but then her true colors quickly showed up and and had the "I don't care" attitude. She wasn't attentive, never came back to check on us or ask to refill our drinks. Even when we found hair in our bread basket she just rolled her eyes and whisked them away without and apology. Her only saving grace was that she removed my terrible meal from the bill which I appreciated and rewarded her with a better tip then she was originally getting. Now the food, my friend had the chicken parmigiana and he said it was magnificent. Chicken was well done and sauce was tasty. He also enjoyed his lobster bisque. My dish however which was the "Penne Mi Amore" was tasteless, had hardly any garlic Sauce and the grilled chicken had a bad after taste that reminded me of 2nd had cigarette smoke. My soup was the tomato bisque and it was gross unless you like to open up a can of tomato paste and add a pound of salt. My meal was so bad I wouldn't feed it to my worst enemy. I had dinner at Casa de Pasta for the first time this weekend on a very busy Saturday evening at dinner "rush hour." There was a pretty substantial wait even with a reservation, but once we were seated, the meal was wonderful. This place is pretty excellent in the Italian food department, but I really need to tell you about the raspberry pie I had for dessert (after my Shrimp and Scallop Fra Diavlo, which was also very good). It was fantastic. The crust was flakey and perfectly seasoned with hints of spice and sugar...the filling was moist but not runny and had just the right ratio of sweet to tart. The presentation was lovely too. They used raspberry and carmel sauce to dress the platter in a spiderweb pattern. YUM. I can't stop thinking about it--It's 10pm and I am an hour away and they're probably closed, but I feel like driving there and demanding they open up and give me pie. read more

I had the special of the day which was veal shank covered with marsala & mushrooms; wonderful! Meal ended with tirimisu, best I ever had! We went here based on my daughter's love and pasta and the Yelp reviews, and were not disappointed. It's small and intimate, the pasta is all fresh, and the sauces were fabulous. Although we had a great experience with our two young children, I wouldn't necessarily recommend taking kids, especially if they're restless because you can wait a while for the fresh dishes to be brought to you. We were the only ones in a full dining room with kids, and there's no kids menu. But the service couldn't have been nicer, making half portions for the kids and bringing them crayons to color with. read more

We had calamari, risotto veggie balls, chicken parm, and our odd man out tonight order a Delmonico steak (yes, I know what you're thinking....a steak in an Italian restaurant?) The restaurant is incredibly small, and that can make it for a bit of a wait even if you have reservations (they don't manage that aspect very well). But the food is superb. Their sauce is great and the staff really cares about you as individuals. Nothing fancy, but we try and stop by Casa at least every six months when we visit my ol' home town. For appetizers, try the risotto balls. I'm a big gnocchi fan and they make theirs by hand here. And they don't overcook it like some restaurant. I have relatives in Canandaigua, so I sometimes visit them. I went here for the third time in November 2017. The employees are nice, and they respect my sophisticated tastes, but the food is not exactly stellar. Every time I have ordered food there, I order something that looks very appetizing, but there is always some sort of drawback to the taste. It is hard to describe, but it just makes the food less appetizing. Then again, I am not necessarily a big fan of Italian food in general, so it kind of makes sense. Went on a Thursday evening (Halloween), as it was my daughter's birthday and she specifically requested this restaurant that she has been wanting to go to. It was a Saturday night and we were a large party of nine. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we arrived early. The first issue was that all the rest of our party had their beverages -- some wine and beers etc. My husband and I had to wait an additional 20 min. for our glass of house wine. We had to wait a bit before our order was taken . We did not get our entrees till almost 8. There were at least 3 tables that came in after us, were served, paid their bill and left before we even got our meals. We watched one of the chefs smoking and not having a mask on (during this pandemic) while he was preparing food. We've been telling ourselves we need to try this restaurant for years. So glad the restaurant across the street was too busy. The service was the best I've encountered in this region from the host who greeted and seated us to the waitress. Everyone was friendly and professional. I had the seafood fra diavolo which was excellent. The shrimp and scallops were large and tasty, the sauce was excellent with large chunks of roma tomatoes. My wife had the Quattro formaggio shells which were excellent as well. This time we tried the arancini as an appetizer. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of filling. Desserts were tasty. This is one of my favorite places in the Finger Lakes region. I have come here many times over the last 6 years and the food seems to get better each and every time! The fresh bread to start is always warm. Each entree comes with a soup or salad (always fresh and crisp) and are hefty portions.
