This was our first time visiting and we got lucky enough to visit on Thursday Karaoke night with DJ Rock Hell - she made it such fun! She is a great DJ and made sure everyone who wanted to sing got their chance. She also catered to the dancers with some jamming music and line dances. There is also a "slot" room in the back separate from the dining and bar area if you wanted to play. My server was the greatest. She offered great recommendations. One chorizo with a flour tortilla and a chicken with a corn tortilla. Both amazing. The flour tortilla was buttery and lightly crisp but still soft and had great flavor. The salsa was so good I think it was the best I ever had. Chunky and spicy with slices of jalapeños! The have a full bar and the Mexican Mule I had was superb! Among the better places for Mexican around here. Casa De Tacos is the best place to drink and also to eat in Matteson. It has a pretty large menu of beverages including of course tequila. Food menu isn't as big but there's burritos, tacos, and other favorites. The prices for tacos are pretty good especially on Tuesdays when they have specials. Has specials on drinks and food. It had this one special on tequila shots. They have lots of tequila. It was $5 for 1800 Silver, among other brands. This can be made into a mixed drink such as with a juice. Good stuff. Of course they also have taco specials on Tuesdays. It's $2 for beef or chicken. This unfortunately doesn't include Veggie Tacos. It's $3.50 at the regular price. These have beans, cheese, fajitas, lettuce, onions, rice, sour cream, and tomatoes. Good drinks and food. It's best to come on a Tuesday. Went here for a neighbors night out. It had just opened so we wanted to go and support. The place is wide open with windows with a little parking up front and more in the back. Gary was our waiter and he was nice and informative on the menu. He also advised of the tip on the bill which we likes as some places post it but don't remind. We got three apps-Buffalo chicken wings which were the size of my thumb with a big wing price and yes I took a pic. Good but too small for a grown man. Loaded fries with birria which were good. Also a chicken quesadilla which was smoky so a nice taste although one friend thought salty. They didn't have small plates so if your a large table sharing, it can get crowded. Drinks were decent and it's mostly tequila drinks if you didn't guess from the name. Beer is available so check the selection if you're picky. The salsa and chips were great and you will need to ask for more as it is served in a little cup. At least it was for three people for sure. For dinner I had the carne asada. Meat was great. Rice was dry and tasteless and beans tasted bland. Burrito in a bowl was large and looked like a taco salad. My friend said she liked it. She took a lot home. My husband and I were so excited to have another eatery open up in our neck of the woods and could not wait for opening day. However, due to our busy schedules, we finally made our way here. This is a nice place with a fun vibe. There is also a small bar area if you choose not to sit at a table. We didn't want to dine in and opted to order take-out. The gentleman at the cash register who took our order was very friendly and had excellent customer service. After a long day dealing with the public, we appreciate the return customer service. Now, on to the food. We both ordered the carne asada bowls and an order of guacamole and chips. We both liked the presentation because it wasn't slopped together. The steak, itself, was tender, but the overall bowl, lacked flavor. We were also told that we would get a mild and hot sauce on the side, but it was not included with our order. I ordered the 2 steak taco dinner with beans and rice, a Cadillac frozen margarita, 1 grilled chicken taco, and 1 chicken tinga taco, with elote in the cup. My wife ordered the 2 shrimp taco dinner with beans and rice, a blue raspberry and pineapple margarita, and elote in a cup. The food and drinks were great! Fresh and seasoned. The drinks were strong and delicious, even while frozen. The restaurant wasn't crowded and the music was ok. Our servers Noah and Easton were attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. Noah recommended the chicken tinga taco as his favorite and I would also agree. My wife and ain't were reluctant to come here due to the reviews. However, we are so glad we gave them a shot! Service is absolutely trash, I've been here several times (6 or 7) and I have only had good service once and he said he was the owner so that checks out. They suck with answering the phone or taking phone orders. Crazy part is one time I was in the parking lot, watching servers and host sit by the phone as it rang and just not answer, also it was empty inside so definitely not busy. Honestly the food is hit or miss. When it's a hit, it's definitely good but when not it's frustrating as hell because WHY?!?! The drinks are good but don't pack much of a punch. Honestly this place has so much potential to be GREAT, but just falls short. If you go, I would recommend the combo fajitas with shrimp, steak and chicken. 02/2022 Casa Birria Tacos with steak instead of goat. The first time that I ordered these, this way, it was at the recommendation of the waitress. I actually didn't order it but my dining guest did and it was delicious! So I ordered it for myself this time around and it was still delicious but so greasy that the meat weakened the double shells. Been here so many times especially Fridays during lent and never had this experience. It was loud so that our waitress couldn't hear our order and needed us to repeat multiple times. Couldn't speak to my husband during our meal. The Dj was decent but it's a small space didn't need to be that loud especially for his infant to be here at 9pm and right in-front of the loud DJ speaker with nothing protecting his ears . Not sure what crowd this restaurant is trying to attract but it was horrible drunk people getting up from eating to dance and bump into another table. People be extra rowdy. Been there many times now, and I've never had a bad experience. Food is good, especially the quesabirria, which is excellent especially as a quesadilla (the size of your head!). We stopped going to Fat Rosie's in Frankfort because we had to drive past here to get to them, and Casa de Tacos has tinga! It's juicy, piquant but not spicy, and perfect in a burrito, taco or quesadilla. Margaritas are lovely, and they have happy hour specials every day for us old people, who like to eat at 4pm. Pay the extra dollar and get the anejo tequila, it's worth it for a nice margarita. They recently added a winter door vestibule thingy, so it's not so cold and windy when you're waiting for your food! Come by early, and get the best service, drinks and food in the area! read more

Made my first visit to Casa de Taco on Lincoln Hwy in Matteson today, I tried the Taco Dinner, which consisted of two Tacos of your choice, served with beans and rice which were both a bit underwhelming. The Pulled chicken Taco was palatable and the shrimp taco was tasty, messy, and deceiving. I believe there may have been ONE shrimp chopped up along with chopped green pepper to fool the brain into believing you are enjoying more shrimp than you actually are. This meal was too expensive for what I feel I received. The restaurant had three sets of patrons ...kind of empty for a Saturday, in addition there were four carry outs including myself . The staff was professional and the servers were attentive to the guests that were seated, well there were only three sets so they had plenty of time and opportunity to impress each guest!!! Not sure if the prices can be overlooked here, nothing about my meal was lip smacking delicious enough to make me feel like I have to do a return visit. read more

I decided to try for Cinco De Mayo. Was able to make a reservation which (to me) meant appropriate social distancing was in place. ARRIVAL: No reservation found and was questioned about when it was made, by who and how many. Nonetheless, we were seated within 10 min so PASS issued. DRINKS: We inquired about a margarita flight and was told by our waitress "it's only available through lunchtime". 10 min later, the neighboring table gets a margarita flight delivered . Beans had great flavor but were cold. The Birria tacos were hot, but eventually cold bc we waited a while for the consome. I appreciated the beef, lamb and ox tail medley though. The Birria bowl looked delicious, was smoking hot and seemed to be a HIT! CHECK PLEASE: By the time we caught the waitress for the check to pay and grabbed our coats, we were pleasantly approached by the owner who asked, "Are you lvg bc I have people waiting". *Reservation - 5:30p *Seated - 5:45p *Total wait time for food, drinks and checks: 30-35 min. *Left @: 7:05p *Total dining time: 30-40 min The owner was friendly and asked about our experience. When we shared all of the above, his response was, "I'm sorry. It's my first time as a restaurant owner". We eventually made our way to the exit where approx 20 people were congregated while waiting to be seated. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: The staff was pleasant. Food could have been a fluke so I might try again for lunch during the week. Music gradually went from Level 2 to Level 10 as the waiting crowd grew larger.
