Driving back from Scott's Valley and stopped at this what I thought was a fruit stand for maybe some local fruit, veggies or nuts. Driving in there was NO one there and walking up there's a ton of signs for no bathroom. I went inside while a loud strange buzzer went off it alerted the worker I was there n he came out. To the left is their food area that's supposed to have pizza coffee and hotdogs. There was nothing there. I went to the right and I saw what seems like used items for sale and Pringle's. The only thing resembling "farm fresh" anything was freeze dried strawberries and some local honey. I really don't know what this place really is or how it's in business. This place and the woman who was "working" there (sitting at the front trying to sell cherries) are a DISGRACE. I've never ever been met with such cold, bitter, bold face lying until today. We were on a road trip (3+ hours to the destination) but had to stop after our toddler got extremely car sick. Poor 2 year old had just gotten sick and I was doing my best to clean up and get situated. I gathered all of our waste in a small garbage bag- didn't even fill it up 1/4 of the way (just baby wipes for the most part used to clean him up and wipe his seat down) and ran over to find a dumpster to avoid having the smell in the truck more than we already were going to. The woman immediately approached me as I was looking around for a trash can and said, "you can't leave your garbage. This is a sitting area". I said, "I didn't want to leave it here where you are sitting(?), is there a dumpster somewhere I can toss it in?" She then proceeded to tell me, "we don't have trash cans here." Uhhhhhh what? When I asked her how she throws away the waste produced from the food she sells there and from people stopping to eat, she claimed a company comes from San Jose and collects it. Okay...so you do have a dumpster or trash? No. She said, "No. we don't have trash cans here." I tried to explain what happened and how I really was just in a pinch and needed to toss it so I could get back to my sick child and she was absolutely not having it. Her exact words at one point-" you'll just have to wait until you get home" Couldn't help me out with a TRASH CAN. Literally, lying to me claiming they don't have any trash or dumpsters anywhere on the property. Cold hearted people. It's not like I was asking to dump an entire garbage can full of my trash. Ridiculous if you ask me. Husband said I should have just left it right there at the storefront but of course, I didn't. A note to these new people- get a conscious and be neighborly. I'm not a fan. It's very dirty, like health inspection fail dirty, and overpriced. The workers/owners are not friendly. In fact I'd say they're downright hostile towards some people. They also fly North Korean flags all over their roof. They seem to support oppressive government regimes. Both my parents families had to flee when they were young children from there. The stories are not pleasant. Interesting who they seem to support, considering where they currently live and have their business. read more

My boyfriend stopped in on his way over the hill, after reading the sign "best pizza in town". It was absolutely delicious. Cheese mushroom, bell pepper chicken..... we both loved it, the man even gave him a complimentary jar of kimchi. read more

Damn, $6.00 for a bag of peach rings... man, where is 7-11 when you need one, 2 for $2 peach rings. Whatever, all their refrigerator doors are rigged, so when you open one, a chime alerts the cashier and she'll come watch you to make sure you're not stealing, I guess? F*cking weird. They also charge a fee to use your credit card, but wont let you use your debit card. I wont stop here again. Really don't waste your time. The Spanish music was so loud that I could barely make it in the door. I hoped that the excessive noise would dwindle as I continued in the store. Quickly turned to exit with my hands firm against my ears. The 2 staff members appeared not interested in my business even though no one was there and I can see why. The goal was to buy a soda for my friend so she braved the music to buy and excessively high priced soda. In short I have much Agee : bad service, bad attitude, overpriced products, and poorly maintained facilities. DON'T EVER GO HERE! First to review... thats crazy because this place has been there since the 50's. Stopped here on a whim. In the height of traffic, we pulled off due to curiosity. We were rewarded with a place we will continue to visit. This is a convenience store with a small grill attached to it. They make a variety of foods. I had their hot dog and it was delicious. Prices are slightly high but the owner is extremely friendly and ready to shoot the shit with you. I HIGHLY recommend stopping here. You will be pleasantly surprised. read more

I wish I could give no stars or negative stars. Here is the story... My girlfriend was hungover from her birthday party the night before. We were driving on 17 and she was feeling nauseous. Casa Del 17 was the nearest thing. I stopped in to get her a coke to settle her stomach. The store was empty. I had to wait about 30 seconds for the store attendant to come out from the backroom and actually do his job. A 20oz bottle cost me $2.50 Outrageous. I spotted their food menu and costs: a simple sandwich is around $10. I went outside. I came back in to wait 30 more seconds alone to ask for some napkins and where the restrooms were. I followed his directions and the posted signs all around the property to not find the restrooms. I walked back in and waited another 30 seconds alone waiting for the attendant to come out of the backroom again to ask apologetically if he could help me find the restrooms. He rudely said "Do you need glasses?" I couldn't believe his audacity. "No, I followed the signs, I just couldn't find them." He said they were next to the parked white truck. I made it over there and found them, however they were not restrooms, it was a hole in the ground portable toilet with a stench that could burn nose hairs. My girlfriend couldn't go in as the scent was making her gag. Add to this the overdone signage that any person who litters will feel the consequences at the hand of the almighty (I'M NOT KIDDING!) and you have one hostile environment undeserving of any patronage. I was driving an electric car on the day after Christmas and the battery was draining quickly driving uphill through the mountains. I stopped at this store pretty desperate for power. I explained the situation to the owner and he helped me hook up power to charge my car and even helped plug it in. I offered him money but he declined my offer. Please stay away from this place! Let the business die the slow death it deserves. The owner is a menace to society! We stopped on the way by to get a snack and use the restroom. As others have said, the customer restroom is an unkempt port-a-potty out in the parking lot. While waiting for my wife, I took my dog for a walk around the parking lot. They have signs around a barbed wire area that dogs are not allowed in the "garden". As if I was going to let my dog climb through barbed wire to pee on some dead grass. As I stood with my dog away from the "garden", the owner burst out of the store, screaming at the top of his lungs about 30 yards away. I couldn't understand what he was saying but from the pointing and wild gestures and "Sign! Sign! Sign!", it was obvious he wanted my dog off the property. Apparently the whole parking lot is his "garden". I walked my dog back to the car followed by the owner. As I helped my mom get her little dog into the car, my dog slipped away from me and trotted up to the owner. Now, please understand, my dog is a Golden Retriever, a breed known for their mellow, kind, loving demeanor. And my dog is no exception to that. He is the sweetest, most loving dog you could ever meet. And as my dog walked up to the owner, that JERK TRIED TO KICK MY DOG IN THE HEAD. Luckily for all, he missed. We had a few choice words, then got in the car and left. Clearly we'll never stop here again. I urge you to never go either. If you've ever loved a dog, don't go. Push on to San Jose, you'll find many places that will appreciate your business, offer a real bathroom, and won't try to kill your pets. read more

Fun place on the side of the road to stop for pictures and soft-drinks. Restroom is nearly impossible to find. Signs supposedly point the way (you are directed not to ask any questions, just follow the signs), but it is confusing even with an advanced degree. Worth a stop if only to see if you can actually find the restroom (I'm telling you, don't ask for directions). Great memories stopping here on the way back from Carmel. The sun finally came out right around this place after three days of fog and clouds (well there were about 15 minutes of sun on the beach at Carmel, but that is another story for another review). read more

I recently stopped to meet a friend from Los gatos at this conveniently located store, (I drove from Santa Cruz). I purchased a drink and my friend just wanted to sit and give me some files. The place was mostly empty (2 other people and the owner) and the owner starts giving my friend grief to buy something. I said "I did buy something" and then he started cursing at us! Wish I had read the other reviews before we stopped. I have never ever stopped at the summit but decided to give this place a try. What a mistake. Place was empty and an annoying buzzer sounded off when you walk into the store. The cashier was uptight and the signs everywhere telling you there are "No bathrooms don't even ask" were rude and a put off. I thought if you had a restaurant you had to have a restroom but I guess their porta potty is supposed to suffice. No thanks! They do not take cards at the restaurant or fruit stand but will charge you 3.00 for the ATM. We left the store without a purchase. They get one star because the BBQ chicken and rice for 16.00 was the bomb! Just make sure you have cash! read more

Ive been coming here for about 15years now and yes i can understand people reviews of the korean man being rude or just not pleasant considering he is in the retail/customer contact service. But i have many good times coming here with my kids and family. He always seems to remember us also. I guess he can be grumpy but i havent really seen that side of him. As for prices we all need to remember if we wanted to buy milk yes you can save money by driving to safeway but for convience we go to 7-11 in and out quik but we pay higher prices. This man has a prime spot in a very pricey area so he gonna charge that price no one is twisting your arm to buy it. If your gonna drive up a mountain with your car and it breaks down then call your roadside service or maybe you dont have roadside service. Well quit being a cheap person and get the options added to your insurance or pay the price at the local store. Why would anyone drive up a hill without checking your fluids. This is a store i never seen 7-11 or any liquor store have free water. Price might be high but then again his prices are label on everything. Lets not wolf tickets that isnt true and glamorize because they had to pay alot for something they could have gotten cheap else where.
