I went here during happy hour with my friend. We were promptly seated in the cantina portion of the restaurant. I liked the casual atmosphere and was quite happy that me and my friend could talk on a casual level. The service was nice and casual. Just the occasional check in. The food was very good. We kind of had a cheese pull war with the queso chorizo dip we ordered. This dish did get a bit salty as the cheese cooled and the chorizo took over. I had a tamal plate with a chili relleno and a taco. My tamal was as ordered with pork,and very good. My relleno had plenty of cheese filling. The crunchy beef taco suffered a bit from all of the other offerings on the plate being a bit juicy and kind of taking away from the crunchy bite of the taco. I love this place. I'm not sure why people are so critical of it. The people are nice. The food is delicious. The margaritas are big and terrific. It's got a sizable bar area and ample seating in a separate dining area. The nachos are huge and absolutely loaded. I think their salsa is the best in the valley. I am partial to their crispy chicken tacos at lunchtime and I love their carne asada. They have delicious chilies rellenos (the sauce is the comb). And their homemade flour tortillas are something I can't skip when I go. I love it! read more

I have never been to a place that rushed you as you ate your food. The service was horrible., the tacos were tasteless. I can't believe somebody can go wrong making tacos, but trust me you can and the price was horrendous for soft tacos. I've been going to Casa Don Juan for years at their downtown and Sunset locations. This is the first time I've gone to their west side location. Just like all their other locations, there's plenty of seating, the servers are dressed in their traditional cultural clothes, and the food tastes authentic. We started with chips, bean dip, and salsa for the table. The salsa spice was mild and refried bean dip was good. It's the same bean dip you'll get when you order a plate. We ordered the Mexican Hot Chocolate, quesadilla plate and carne asada plate. The carne asada plate included a small amount of grilled onions and grilled jalapeno with rice, beans, lettuce, guac, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. One of my favorites was the flour tortillas. It tastes homemade and I love the soft flavor. The carne asada wasn't as good as I remembered as it could use a little more flavor. It included only a small amount of grilled onions, which was kind of disappointing. I enjoyed the Mexican hot chocolate, although it was a bit on the sweeter side. We started with the comp bean dip and salsa with chips. The bean dip was boring but we all like the kind of salsa they serve. I had the chicken fajitas which were nothing special but what was I to expect. URIEL had the spicy shrimp dish but they forgot to put in the spice and they were super small shrimp. Ignacio had chili rellenos which he just loved and ate the whole dish. The bill with 3 soft drinks came to $75. Using the $50 Groupon which we bought for $27, it still cost us $25 plus a 20% tip. First time here! The restaurant was not too busy for a Saturday night but the staff was friendly and the service was top notch! Loved the decor and it was truly authentic. I had been to the downtown location but this is closer to my house. The hostess was dressed as Freida and she made it work! We got complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip. The chips were homemade there and not very greasy at all. The salsa and bean dip was delicious. I ordered the beef flautas and the rice and beans were cooked just like my grandmothers Sonoran cooking and it took me back to my childhood. The only complaint inks was that the serving of guacamole could've been more generous as it wasn't enough to enjoy with the large stuffed flautas. Me and my husband been living here in Vegas for two years. Can't find us a decent Mexican restaurant we're from California. I tried this place today. Everything was delicious horses Angelica and waiter. Miguel were wonderful. Very welcoming. I would definitely go back to your food is great a little pricey just for me and my husband it was $75. The dining area is large, but could use some updating, time has hit the tables a bit hard. The waitress came by and took our orders. Their margaritas are large and strong. We had a Burrito lunch special and Camerones a la Diabla. The food was good, not great. The salsa was tasteless and watery. The chips were nice. Ugh.. so bummed to update this review to two stars from my initial experience. We went in for one of our many visits. Food was great as usual until my friend pointed out a roach running underneath our booth. Appetite immediately gone and half my food wasted. Overall, the staff were quite friendly and nice. However, I'm a bit disappointed that the food was very average. My meal was two enchiladas and one taco with rice and beans. However, after ordering, we were informed that they were out of rice (seriously?) And asked if they could substitute more beans or french fries. I opted for french fries however they never came. The food was lukewarm as if it had been sitting out for quite a while not under the heat lamp. The taco was not very good. My friend's dinner was more satisfactory, however, she had asked for some fried jalapeños which she had to repeat her request several times. My husband and I were going to order separately, but then he suggested we order the Molcajete de Mayo to share. It was the best idea. First time here. Decided to meet some friends for dinner and they chose this place. I must say that it was a great choice. I had the steak fajitas, an ice tea and a Modelo. I also asked for habanero salsa for some heat. I'm always one to "complain" about charging $3.50 for habanero salsa, sorry but I just think it's ridiculous. It's definitely a high margin item for them because it's about the same as guacamole, which has costlier ingredients.
