Challenging to get into the restaurant without numerous stairs. Had to go down several storefronts to access a ramp. First visit here. Despite my walker and husband's cane host schlepped us halfway through the mostly empty restaurant passing many empty tables. Restaurant was uncomfortably cold. Waiter was prompt for drink and food order. Freebie salsa and chips did not taste or look homemade. Not even tomato flavor. No flavor - not even salt. I tried a combo to taste several different items. Green enchiladas with chicken, taco and tostada. Chicken was moist but flavorless. Green sauce was the only flavor but hardly any of it. I have known about this establishment for a while, and they just opened a location close to Liberty Hill, so we tried it for lunch, and are we glad we did. Chips, Salsa & Iced Tea hit the table before they took our order, and they kept coming. They had their full menu offered as well as a nice selection of Lunch Specials. I had the Chalupa Plate, mixed one Beef & one Chicken, I opted for the Jalapeños on both. They were equally good, and a great choice. My wife ordered the Combo Light Plate which is a Cheese Enchilada with Chili con Carne Gravy and a crispy Beef Taco (which is the Barometer of any good Mexican Restaurant in Texas, Cali wants a Burrito), Guacamole Salad and a Queso Shell. She really loved it all. The only noticeable difference between Lunch and Supper is the slightly larger portions and Beans & Rice. You can get the Lunch Menu anytime for $2.00 more and they serve BREAKFAST ALL DAY. My little Grandson ordered the Kid's Cheese Quesadilla with French Fries and a Queso Shell, which is a personal portion of cheese dip for his Fries. The Service provided by Gabriel or "Gabe" as the host introduced him, was spectacular and as good as any restaurant I can think of in the city. They are a locally owned multi-unit, little Austin area chain, the kind of business we all love to support, so why not treat your friends and family to a really great meal with Michelin Star Service. [Note: I am a traveling musician, and a good friend of mine from the DC area was in Austin working. He took his wife to Casa Garcia's in Dripping Springs, and he said it was the best Mexican or Tex-Mex he had ever eaten, and this man has been all over the world. We ordered migas a la Mexicans. We got a cool plate of migas with hardly any cheese on it. They were short staffed our waitress offered to bring us the ranchers sauce and cheese. It showed up 15 minutes later. The waitress was waiting tables and tending bar. We asked for a manager that showed 15 minutes later bypassing our table to hand a receipt to the hostess then wandered over to our table. I explained the situation and the ngr stated she looked at the plate it was done correctly. I informed her that was not eggs Mexicans according to the menu and she told me I was wrong! I was trying to be quiet and polite so asked her to remove the charges to which she responded. We will remake it. No thank you I had other things to do. She was rude and defensive obviously no customer service skills. This is casa garcias off the Ronald Reagan. If you do not have enough wait staff then seat your customers in one area. Went for dinner tonight. Sat at the bar. Husband ordered large house Margarita nd it was really unusual color, darkish. Bartender said, let me k ke if it's too tart. We were like, weird. But it was awful! He came back and added Cointreau. It was just sweeter. Fajitas or two and it was OK lots of green pepper as filler. When we asked to get boxes to go wait ahead and noticed that there was like an air freshener smell in the restaurant. Hmm Thought that was weird very strong kind of like a car fruit smell. Ok... ill be fair on this .. the staff was awesome... the service, amazing.. if the food was great I would definitely return and recommend thus place. Im Mexican... if youre from So Cal.. AZ or from a Mexican traditional Mexican food cooking/ eating family... you will not appreciate the beautiful restaurant. This is absolutely amazing for my friends from Ohio that are not accustomed to traditional eats from the south. The chef absolutely lacks (sazòn) seasoning (doesn't translate well). The food was bland, the tortillas lacked salt ... the flan was flat in flavor.. even the toasted part of the flan thats usually carmalized was, well...not carmalized ... The tamales were not dry, but definitely lacked flavor in the masa. The meat i think was imagined there cause well.... Definitely on the skinny side with meat that... yes, you guessed it, lacked flavor. My wife ordered a chicken tortilla soup... i liked there presentation which for a soup... def impressed... but, the chicken breast in broth was a little flavorless and dry. Awesome location, good looking bar. Courteous staff. There are a few growing pains but they just opened less than a week ago. We ordered shrimp cocktail which was delicious and fresh. We also ordered vegetarian fajitas and chicken fajitas and loved all of the food. They offer free chips and salsa which is also excellent. We really enjoyed giving this new spot a try and can't wait until they open the outdoor patio space. Highly recommended, we will return! read more

Ate here today and was sooo good. Salsa not too hot, chips warm, light and crispy, chicken and cheese enchiladas did not disappoint. Queso was soo creamy and good and lastly...sopapillas were light and crispy and the perfect finish. From Burnet and get so tired of half assed customer service. We eat here many times and this is the worst experience we have had here. We drive from Lago Vista to eat here. This is the only one we like. We were seated and the hostess is very nice. We sat there for 10 minutes and no one waited on us. The restaurant was not busy. We had several wait staff personal walk by and nothing was said to us. All that needed to be say is I will be right with you. We decided to leave. Told the hostess was we were leaving and it was because no one would wait on us. All the was said was sorry. There were 4 of us that went in for dinner about 5:30. Place was not busy at all. This place has serious issues. We asked our server if a certain drink was on happy hour. She said happy hour was over which it wasn't. We had to show her on the menu HH went until 7 PM. We hand to send one of the drinks back because it was the wrong drink. We ordered our food which came out timely for 3 of us. The server had to ask "what plate was missing". The three of us that received our food was almost done when our other party got his food. Think she forgot to order his food. When the 4th plate finally came it had the wrong beans. The server said she would bring her a plate of the correct beans which she never did. We also had to ask for the tortillas for the fajitas. The server was very scattered and complained about how the business was being run.. When the bill came we noticed she did not give us happy hour prices for our drinks. When we pointed it out she gave us attitude and said "I put happy hour in the computer" and walked away (we didn't notice the incorrect amounts until after we paid). She also charged us for extra beans which we did not order Or receive. Check your bill closely before you pay. They got us for about an extra $10 dollars between all of us. The experience kicked off with red salsa that was about as thrilling as watching paint dry. The chips seemed fresh out of a bag, and the guac? If it's house-made, Costco might want their recipe back. Then, our waiter--who deserves an Oscar--subtly warned us about the normal queso. I almost asked him to blink twice if they needed rescuing; it felt like they were skillfully guiding us through the menu's landmines while keeping there job safe. The beef was fine, but the chicken? It's so safe it should come with training wheels. The house-made tortillas? Those are like a surprise Beyoncé concert--absolutely fantastic. But despite those tortillas and the warm, friendly service, I wouldn't actually come back. The food just doesn't hit the mark, and in trying to please everyone, the menu ends up being like that forgettable friend. A bit more daring could really make the difference. read more

We don't have very many choices for restaurants in the area. Casa Garcia has a traditional TexMex menu. I have been multiple times and by far I think breakfast is where they shine. I didn't care for their shredded chicken but the fajita chicken was better. The salsa is sometimes amazing and sometimes tastes like ketchup. If you like spicy salsa there is a secret menu item and it's their complementary green salsa which has a fantastic flavor and the right amount of heat, be sure to ask for it (it's very spicy). Breakfast tacos and the omelette are very good. On the lunch and dinner menu the fajita chicken tacos are the go-to choice. I didn't like some of the other items. read more

Slightly more Mex than Tex, which was a pleasant surprise! Located in a strip mall by HEB the new restaurant is clean and well laid out with some Tex Mex flair throughout, typical of what you would expect. Not too busy for a Monday lunch meeting. Our server was polite and quick to get what we needed, although had to be reminded once or twice of a couple items, no biggie. What made this restaurant pass the average 3 start mark was the food. While trying New Mexican places I typically go for the carne guisada plate, having it made myself, I know it's not an easy plate to make. It's slow cooked beef roast marinated in a blend of spices. The mistake some restaurants make is rushing the dish causing the beef to be tough. Casa garcia aced the Carme guisada. What made it more interesting was that it was served on top of cheese enchiladas. Bit of a stretch to add cheese and play with a classic but it worked here. Tasted like fresh quesadilla cheese making a good taco with the rice and beans. If they could improve on anything, it would be a better presentation, for the price of 15 dollars for the plate it would be nice to see some guac or fresh veggies on the plate. The rice and beans were a bit forgettable could give a bit more attention to that. But I do look forward to try a couple more things in the future. read more

Drinks are A1...strong and pretty tasty. All you can ask for at typical local Mexican restaurant. Service is really great as well. Servers are helpful, attentive and pleasant for the most part. Food is what will be the ultimate reason for my 3 stars. It's pretty bland and little under average and I'm a huge Mexican cuisine connoisseur here. I've been twice and ordered chicken enchiladas (pretty dry) and the quesadillas (which is an appetizer). Lots of meat but little to no cheese, dry and very mini portions of quac/sour cream compared to the price and order. This place a decent option for a local fix and good for Happy Hour but food could improve if they simply take their time and put some actual care into the preparation. read more

I was really hoping for a good experience, but unfortunately, it was terrible. It took an hour to get our dinner. When it did come, we only got half, and it was cold. When the rest came, we didn't get everything and even though I asked.... it never came. We were only checked on twice while being there for 2 hours. I sent my plate back because it was so cold and wound up just eating half my daughter's order. They offered to redo it, but by the time it would have come, everyone else in my party would have been done eating. When we got the check, my plate was still included. They removed it, but the manager didn't say much at all, and neither did the staff. It's like they didn't know how to handle a bad experience and were just wanting us to leave. I honestly think the place may be too big for the kitchen staff. It was a full house, and we could see many other patrons were frustrated, too. We ordered 2 plates; CHORIZO MIGAS; My wife said it was very bland all around had about 1/3 of it and gave up FAJITA; Let me say the waiter gave me the FAJITA plate and not the CASA G'S SIZZLING FAJITAS !! I even asked when the plate was brought out, why it wasn't in a sizzling plate and he said something like that a large plater that costed 60.00 and I said wait what for Fajita's Sizzling ? So this was a very big let down, it was like serving a side dish with shells and have at The salsa - B L A N D The shells were OK, a bit thick Staff was nice, but again I don't think the waiter understand or should have explained they 2 different types of dishes and so even, my dish was bland, everything was mild bland, they need to get better salsa's and better seasonings going.... Third breakfast attempt. Food not seasoned, order served wrong, clearly sat under hot light for 10 minutes or so. Eggs overdone and cold, neat trick. Sent plate back, declined on remake. Waiter said new cooks are the issue, manager #1 said the kitchen doesn't like to waste food, manager #3 offered half off my bill and told me all about the mariachi bands. They have a great space, nice folks working there, just need to nail that serving food as a restaurant thing. I don't think they are far off, but some back of house training on menu prep, foh in using complicated wrist super computers to take orders, and introducing the whole kitchen to a salt shaker would go along way. It really wasn't very packed but it took 15+ minutes for our drink order and another 45+ to get our soups.
