When paying for hair services, the owner apologized and said that she had entered the amount into the system incorrectly and proceeded to try to fix it. I watched as 7 receipts came through my email account and text and wanted to write down the correct total and the owner became angry that I did not understand her credit system quickly enough. I called my credit card company and they looked at the pending authorizations and when the final charges did post, the total did not match what the owner had told me it should be. The sum of each hair service did match the total on the account, so I assumed her total was wrong. I loveeee Casa Mara. I just recently moved to the Watertown area and have been coming to Casa Mara every three weeks since!! She is so quick and efficient with the root touch up and is great to talk to throughout the whole process. My biggest pet peeve with dark hair coloring is when residual color is stained on my forehead but she always ensures I leave with no leftover color stains on my skin! I also have always been very nervous when it comes to haircuts but she gave me exactly what I asked for and I had no doubts about trusting her to cut my hair. I went to Casa Mara to have my hair cut and colored (which I had never done) to cover some white hairs. Talin was extremely knowledgeable and did an excellent job with the color and cut. She gave me options for the color and explained to me how it would look since I had never colored my hair before. It came out nicely and the bonus was that she styled my hair without me having to ask. Since I have moved back from the west coast I have seen 3 different stylist all of whom did a decent job but I would have to ask them to style it every time (this is something that should be done automatically). I've been eyeing this salon for a while, but for some reason never took the plunge to go. Two weeks ago I went in and met with Patty, and got my haircut 7-8 inches shorter. My hair is super thick and wavy and I find a lot of people are intimidated by it, not this girl. She was eager to help me achieve the new look. Very lovely experience with Talin at Casa Mara! Very knowledgeable and friendly. I am very pleased with my highlights! Very nice neighborhood salon, centrally located in Watertown. She also works quickly. I was in and out in 2 hours after having done highlights and blow dry (I have a lot of hair) which usually takes 3-4 hours at other salons. It was tough for me when I moved to MA. I had pretty long hair and was looking to shorten them. I don't know why I stopped at Casa Mara Beauty Salon, and thought to take a chance, may be my gut feeling that turn out to be the best decision ever. I'm not good at names so I do not remember her name. She was really sweet and very friendly; the best hairdresser I have ever had, and I hope she never moves too far away because I refuse to see anyone else! It's not very often you find a hairstylist who loves what she does, is AMAZING at cutting and styling, puts the customer first, and is just an all-around wonderful person, but that's her. She has the incredibly uncommon ability to make you feel comfortable in her hands by asking you what you're looking for but also empowering you to make educated decisions on what you want through her explanation of certain processes or what certain things will look like or why something may or may not be the best idea for you. She took time to understand how and what I wanted.. I was clueless on what type I want all I told her was maybe I want short hair.. aaa am not sure.. She asked a series of questions to really know what I want and then the final was how you generally keep your hair, and I made her look at my facebook profile pictures and told her that it is up to you. She selected one and said I like this one and will give you something like this. She takes great pride in her career and you leave her chair feeling an incredible sense of pride in how you look. I went to Casa Mara for a simple, single process color for my roots. When I got home, I realized that there were spots that they either completely missed or didn't put enough color or perhaps the right color, so there were tiny specks of white hair left, right at the roots. I called them to see if we could remedy the situation. The person who answered the phone told me to come back right then and there, but I was going out of town, so I wasn't able to go return until a few days later. When I got to to the salon, (less than a week after my initial appointment) the lady was very dismissive and took a too-quick look at my hair and said that no, they actually didn't miss anything, it was because my hair had (somehow!) grown in the few days after my initial appointment. Stylists make mistakes; I'm understanding as long as we can work together to come to a happy outcome. However, this salon wasn't that. They don't care and I would look elsewhere for your hair needs. I am incredibly impressed with Talin, the new owner of this longtime Watertown hair salon. She not only did an incredible job on my hair, but also worked really hard to ensure that I left with a hairstyle that I could manage given the demands of my daily life. As a new mom, I don't have any time to spend on styling, so I really needed a wash and go look. Talin gave me that, plus lots of tips on what I could do if I had a few minutes. Very well said Ramune B. It seems that Rose S. did not review the guidelines before posting her review. It was not nice, very rude and wrong. Should be ashamed. Reviews should only reflect what the salon can offer and how it performance NOW (at the time services are render) and NOT for personal comments. Casa Mara Beauty Salon was there before the new owners for 40+ years. Prior owner was and is a wonderful person as well as his family. If it was so bad why had a lot of the same clientele with new clientele coming in all the time for all those years. As I remember it was always a family salon and EVERYONE, especially Diana was always treated like family member working for 15+ with previous owner. To the new owners, good luck and much success as the prior owner had. Make sure to keep Rose happy so that the same comments are not made towards the new owners. read more
