Revisited Edition: When you think of Taquerias in San Francisco you think of Mission street , Valencia , and 24th street. There is one Taqueria on 24th street which is not in the Mission but in Noe Valley in San Francisco. This place is frequent by everybody in the neighborhood for a Mission style burrito. This has been in Noe Valley for decades and if you show up around noon on a weekday you see a line of blue collar and white collar workers in line together about to enjoy Mexican food at Casa Mexicana. The first Casa Mexicana I grew up on was on Church street between Duboce and Market street in San Francisco until a fire happened in 2021 and is no longer in existence. Now the only location that stands is the Casa Mexicana #2 at 24th street location in Noe Valley which has lots of good Mexican food. Inside they have plenty of sitting and good outdoor patio. They also revamped this location with new color painting which resembles the color schemes of the play and movie " Wicked" .The food they serve are a range from enchiladas plates to tacos. I usually get the chicken burrito which is very tasty and savory with the right amount chicken, rice , guacamole , and cheese. If you are stuck in Noe Valley and want a burrito and can't make it to Mission street or don't want to go to Mission street and beyond then Casa Mexicana is your best bet. They always keep it consistent. Friendly staff Delicious food Good service I had a craving for Spanish Rice and it's offered at Casa Mexicana. This was all I crave for, and I just had to ask for shredded on it. It is so delicious, and I like it. One thing I like, those chips are included and it pairs well with the bowl of rice and a Coca-Cola. I really like the crunchy texture of tortilla chips, plus it can be eaten as a side item or snack item. In terms of ambiance: This place is well lit, perfect for dine in. Good spot in Noe Valley for tacos. I've been going here for years and really enjoyed the tacos. I get mine piked high with salsa, lettuce, cilantro snd onions so it seems like eating a tostada - just the way I like it. The people are lovely and friendly and the price is right. Super delicious! I had a great watermelon agua fresca, shrimp taco and carne asada taco. Fresh and quality ingredients and excellent service. I went with a large group of friends and we moved through the line quickly. Comes with chips and if you ask for some, salsa. You also have to ask for napkins and any needed (plastic) cutlery...I had to go back for that and wish it was just out to grab. Maybe it's more sanitary this way? Walked here from Mission Street when there was a classic car show shutdown of mission and walked in to Noye and found this place right near the dumpling place I was also going to try out! My friend really wanted a burrito as did her sister. Boy did they get a BURRITO!! Carnitas and steak ones were already supersized, flavorful and reasonably priced! I ordered chicken mole enchiladas with black beans and rice and it had salad and guacamole and it was plentiful!! We were on way to Laver Cup so had to finish as much and couldn't keep the rest but it would have been another good-sized meal!! Only comment that I'd recommend was that they sent seal the extra sauce well and it opened in the bag :(( so the burritos had to be wiped to be able to carry and walk. Definitely recommended! Seating looked comfortable and roomy but it was Saturday lunch and people were taking out more while we were there. read more

While the classic SF Mexican spots are mostly all located in the mission, this Noe Valley hole in the wall did not disappoint. Casa is a more traditional Mexican restaurant than other spots I've been to in the city. Burritos and tacos are very good and for a very affordable price! The salsas are my favorite part. I have been going to this place for years. Lady that made my burrito was not friendly at all and could not understand her very well behind her mask. She left 4-5 small pieces of meat on the grill instead of putting the rest in the burrito, which was actually not large. Other staff have made much larger burritos. She then went back to the grill to neatly put the meat in a small pile and covered it with the spatula. I have never seen that done there, after all these years. Not sure what she was saving it for, if the pieces of meat were not good, it would have been tossed into the trash. read more

My go-to taqueria is Mexico Tipico (Excelsior) but I didn't have enough time to deal with the parking situation since I was working so I gave Casa Mexicana II a shot (their original location Castro is permanently closed). Maybe it was an off day but it was devoid of the rich spices I associate with a good mole. I ended up just using the chips to scoop out the filling to eat with salsa. Casa Mexicana on 24th Street is one of our family favorites since my wife moved to San Francisco back in 1988 and live above Martha Brothers coffee. Our 14 year son has grown up there while in a high chair and stroller. It has fresh Mexican food and friendly staff. My wife and now nearly adult son always ordered the (baby) now Super Burritos. They get a craving almost EVERY Sunday--- and it's our go to place after a packed full weekend of basketball, soccer, travels and events. I usually will order shrimp tacos or fajitas which take a little longer to prepare but ALWAYS well worth the extra time. Besides the Burritos and fajitas we order a pint of guacamole and chips. There is a television usually showing the San Francisco Giants or Warriors. In addition to our weekly visit. We have spent 20 years after Halloween trick of treating which is a blast! My children and I would go here often and I got notifications from my bank the amount charged was updated by Casa Mexicana the next day and they charged me more than what I purchased and authorized. Another family friend complained about the same thing. They are scamming customers using debit or credit. I filed a dispute with my bank and it was resolved. It was the veggie burrito and did not taste as good as other veggie burritos that I have had recently. Maybe it was just me, so I decided to come back. When I did come back, I decided to get the Huevos Rancheros and I'm telling you, these were SO good. I got these again a second time here recently and they were just as good as the first time. This is one of my favorite taquerias in SF. The first time I walked into this establishment, I noticed right away the place had a stong scent of mouthwatering cooking. The delicious dinner plate I ordered tasted precisely like the aroma that permeates the restaurant. The other thing I noticed was how efficiently the business is run due to the configuration of its cafeteria style operation with the order line starting near the entrance, food assembly line in the middle and its pay station at the tail end. The dining area is clean, pleasant and spacious. Additionally, the staff is friendly and welcoming. I am already looking forward to my next dining experience there, while writing this review. I was walking around on 24th street last Saturday and I found this cute little gem! I'd like to start off by saying that the ladies at the front were super nice and friendly. I ordered two super tacos with carne asada. What I noticed right away is that the servers are generous with the ingredients! The tacos were piled so high that it was kind of hard to pick them up without things spilling over, but I'm definitely not complaining! The meat was cooked to perfection and everything tasted fresh. They give you complimentary chips with your order and there is a salsa bar near the seating area so you can get any salsa you want. There is a TV in the dining area so that was a nice feature to see. They don't have WiFi though and signal is kind of spotty in there, but it's alright. It gave me the chance to really focus on the meal and it was a good one! The tables were very clean and there is plenty of seating for families or large groups. They also have a gender neutral restroom which is cool! I'll definitely come here again. There are pipes right above the food prep area and one or maybe some of them are leaking and dripping into food. I saw one of them leak and dripped on their assembly board while I was waiting to be helped. Told the girl, she didn't fuss about it. ‍ I just told her to be careful so it won't touch my food. (I wonder what runs in those pipes.) They also charged me for chips I didn't ask for. Next time ask what's on your tab before you pay.
