Richland's Casa Mia has been hanging about in my Italian cuisine memory banks for years offering some fine fares and favorites. Most things on the menu are good, but items like the Pizza Sole or the all-you-can-eat Spaghetti (Mon-Thu) make Casa Mia a destination. The Pizza Sole is light and tasty, incorporating onions, basil, Gorgonzola and Parmesan, tomatoes and balsamic vinegar for that unique flavor you come to expect. Apparently they've hosted some awards for this pizza, which I can agree to. The spaghetti is of the comfort food caliber. Periodically, I find the cravings inescapable - and ultimately my toosh is in a seat, fulfilling my foody needs, and always satisfied in the end. This place was amazing. It was a bit of a wait to get in (on a Friday night, not surprising.) While we were waiting, we had a guy sitting next to us raving about Casa Mia's Pizzas (I guess they've won multiple awards.) We got seated at a small table in the middle of the restaurant, had a good chance to look over the menu and eye every one else's food before the waiter came to see what we wanted. We ordered soda and they brought us a carafe, which was interesting. My husband and I both ordered Stuffed Veal Tortellini, and after we placed our order, the waiter brought us salad and bread. The salad, just iceberg lettuce, cheese, and olives, was surprisingly delish. It was a lot of cheese, though. Their bread was a little dry, but their pesto dipping sauce was the BEST I've ever had. Our tortellini came and it tasted amazing. The butter garlic sauce was a little bland, next time I think I'll ask for 1/2 butter and garlic, 1/2 pesto. Over all, it was amazing. We had to wait in line to pay. After a short chat with our nice waiter, I found out they don't buy any of their ingredients from the local farmer's market every Friday, it made me really disappinted. Maybe it will change in the future. I'd say, if you want some awesome Italian, skip Olive Garden and go here. For the two of us, it was $28, and tasted awesome. Next time? Calzones should be eaten with a knife and fork, and that is what happens at Casa Mia. Good gooey cheese and tasty meats cram the beast they bring out to you. They could bring it to you quicker if they didn't over cook it though. I mentioned that proper calzones are knife and fork food; I shouldn't get carpal tunnel cutting into the over baked crust. And since the rest of the table had to wait on my calzone to get their food, it inconvenienced the whole group. However, the food is always good here and service is usually friendly. Caesar salad was made with pieces of lettuce that were much too big, making it very difficult to eat, and the croutons and dressing tasted store-bought and croutons were hard as a rock. Disappointed after so many recommendations. Food was not flavorful. I think I would have been better off getting a similar meal from Costco. Tried the mushroom risotto, undercooked, lack of salt. Something happened to this place over the last year. If I had reviewed it a year ago I would have said, yummy, wonderful, basically what everyone else said. Despite the poorly working air conditioning last summer, my family and I enjoyed everything about this place. But last month.... We went in right around dinner time on a Saturday night, the place was dead! Definitely different from the packed house of last year. Everything we ordered was mediocre, pizza, salad, pasta, etc. My kid will usually eat any kind of plain pasta and she turned this stuff down. I'm torn on this review. There are aspects I love, and aspects I really dislike. Honestly, the salad is a nutritional disaster. Iceburg lettuce, enough cheese to constipate a bull moose, and tons of black olives. Yikes! I don't remember any salads like this in Italy. Hmmm, I guess I do remember what I had, after all. It was very yummy. My daughter had a butternut ravioli that she liked, but a bit too unexpectedly sweet for my tastes. Typical red-sauce dishes are pretty good, but not wowza outstanding. Which is just fine for this level of dining/price. The lunch portions are large enough to take home to gnosh on the next day. Decor: Not great. But I'm not too much of a decor snob. I want good food and good service for a "regular" dining experience. I expect ambiance for a high-end restaurant. I have been dining here for years and it is one of my all time favorite quick eats. The best thing about Casa Mia food is its simplicity. It's not overdone or super expensive. It is quick and easily delicious. My family does a lot of take-out here and it is always done on time. My favorite thing to do on any dish is get some classic red sauce and fettuccine sauce and mix the two together. It's great on anything! I would recommend the lasagna and ravioli plates like this. We are long-time regulars. Casa Mia has been remarkably consistent over the years. Everything on the menu is wonderful. I am particularly fond of the spicy chicken caesar salad, the steak and spaghetti dinner, and the chicken parmigiana. My wife also loves the butternut squash ravioli. So after hearing so many rave reviews about this place and seeing it every time we drive by, (no not that kind of drive-by), we finally decided to give it a try. Walking in there wasn't any real wow factor but we were shown to our table rather quickly. I ordered the spicy chicken caesar salad and Jeremy ordered the Chicken and Three Cheese pizza (he's quite the pizza fanatic), so the bar was set pretty high already. The waitress was very professional and brought us our drinks in a timely manner. Our surprise was they didn't just bring out a glass of soda but also a 24oz decanter, which I thought brought a lot of appeal to the ambiance of the restaurant. We did have to wait for the food for quite a bit but not to where you're checking your watch. Their salad was very appealing and tasted quite good, nothing too spectacular although they in no way skimped on the olives or cheese, which was a bonus. With being food network watchers, presentation has become a staple of when we are ordering and eating our food and the presentation was top notch. My salad was big and very filling, came with some garlic bread which was very soft and tasted great. The spicy chicken wasn't as spicy as I figured it was going to be which I was hoping for a bit more pow, but it was better than having the same old grilled chicken. The caesar dressing wasn't bitter like some places, there was a good amount of everything, especially the parmesan cheese. Another bonus for me! As far as the pizza goes, we were expecting a very thin pizza with sparse ingredients. Again, they exceeded our expectations. The pizza had chicken, sun dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, fresh basil, and they didn't skimp here on the Parmesan cheese either. For a small, it could have fed 3 people easy. The crust was not exceptional but it was nice it not being greasy. It is a little on the pricier side for us but you definitely got what you pay for. We would rate it 4 1/2 stars but not having that option we decided to go with 5. The only reason that we would drop it from the 5 stars is the noise, it was hard to hear each other when we were talking, almost felt like you had to yell at each other.
