Taco More, what happened to you?! we have been coming here for quite some time now and everything was great the quality and taste of the food was good and the quantity too but now they have changed the style of the menu and everything is more gringo style now when we ordered it tasted almost as always good but did not come in the quantity as always. My husband and I ate lunch there today and we will not be coming back. We ordered beef enchilada plates with 2 sweet teas. The bill was $34.64. I had to remove the fajita meat because it was so tough I could not chew it. White refried beans, rice and the red sauce was tasteless. We drove to Round Rock to go eat at La Tapatia and they are temporarily closed due to moving into a much larger building, rightfully so! Taco More is a chain in Austin, and this location is just off Hwy 35 and W Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock. Blink and you'll miss it as it sits right behind a Short Stop. I'd give this 3.5 stars but Yelp! isn't a fan of the half star thing. Food: Not a ton of options, but they had posole, which is why we went. A medium sized bowl was the perfect portion of soup, filled with tender chunks of pork, hominy, and mildly spicy soup. It had a bit too much powder in the soup base, and could have used a bit more porky flavor (perhaps more bones in the stock,) but a good soup nonetheless. It was served with a side plate of shredded lettuce, chopped Spanish onions, cilantro, a sliver of avocado, and three tostadas. Tacos - the bean and cheese was ok. Beans needed a bit more flavor. Beef fajita was good. Chicken fajita had way too much black pepper. Al pastor was the best. The bacon and egg taco can be skipped. As you'll see from the pic, it was almost an omelette slapped onto a tortilla. Chips and salsa are served when you're seated, and there's a salsa bar. Service: Friendly and efficient. Food comes out in good time, and drinks are refilled often. Cost: Four tacos and the medium posole with a diet soda ran us $22 after tax. Pretty decently priced. Overall: Parking is plentiful. The restaurant is clean, and has a good vibe inside. I'd come back for the posole again as it seems not many places make it in Austin. Affordable, and they take cards. read more

First time at this location. I first learned about the greatness that is Taco More from its location in Austin. This gem is located behind Short Stop and LongJohn Silvers. They have a bar to the left when you walk in and a Salsa bar of grill peppers (jalapeños, and red pepper), grilled onions, limes, and radishes. They have goat (Cabrito) tacos, and beef head (cabeza) that are delicious and not greasy. My husband loves the shrimp cocktail dish, which comes with a lot of shrimp (bring your appetite) and a sleeve of saltine crackers. I love that they serve breakfast all day. A good portion of the staff mainly speak Spanish, but they have someone available to translate if needed. Sadly the flour tortillas were not heated, charred, or grilled. They were warm like out of the store package; so they were chewy. The goat seemed seasoned but not warmed and dried out. My tacos looked so delicious I bit into them before I could remember to take a picture. Took them a while to refill our drinks, but service otherwise was friendly. The Taco More on Parkfield has served in my opinion the best tacos in Austin. I was completely thrilled when this one that's much closer to me opened up. This Round Rock location is definitely less shady with a larger space and more seating. A welcoming change followed by a some things that didn't change: the food and the service. The service is still great. Our server was full of smiles and no mistakes on our order. Water was constantly filled and everything operated like clockwork. The chips are super addicting and my usual order of the Consome de Cabrito, and the cabrito, cabeza, and pastor tacos were just as delicious as I remembered. Sadly the menu indicated that the lengua was no longer available, as it was one of my favorite tacos. Hoping that this is just a temporary loss! It's common knowledge that tacos is definitely a highly competitive market in Austin. But if anyone asks for my recommendation, I'll always point to Taco More. I really hate to put a bad review but this was very very disappointing. I absolutely love Taco More and the good is usually really good and flavorful. I ordered 3 barbacoa tacos, chips and salsa and a quesadilla for my son. I got home and opened my bag...I was missing my salsa. So I took my first bite of my taco..it was so gross, it was nothing but fat. So I tried another but it was so bland and just bad all around. I couldn't eat my food at all and it's disappointing because it's Cinco De Mayo and I was really looking forward to having their food. I went out my way to drive to get it also. On a recommendation from a friend we were told we just have to try this place...Joint is hidden in the back parking lot, blink and you will miss it. Service was good...Great looking and tasting Salsa bar...We ordered a small queso to accompany our Salsa selection and we were off and running...The one thing that my eye was the Cabrito (Goat) Soup...and I can tell you...you Must try this soup...Rich in flavor, plenty of meat...which is super tender...I hear from friends that it would be gamey if not cooked right...and this was not the case...I didnt leave a drop in the bowl...I also ordered a couple of tacos...Pastor and Bisteak...and the fact I focused so much on my soup, they did get a bit cold and dried out...but still great and a large portion...Wife had Beef Chiladas and they were great and packed with beef. The chicken was shredded instead of being in chunks, which was nice for a change from what I'm used to with other places. The sauce/cheese/meat ratio was fine. They came on a plate with refried beans and rice for $9. Overall it was decent, but not really better than average. Their salsa that comes with the chips is served very warm and it was really nice on a super chilly day. I had a bite of their quesadilla with bistec and it was unusual...a long crispy shell with cheese tucked into the middle and meat at the open end. First time here for lunch. I really like the salsa and vegetable bar. There are several different types of salsa, one of which will light you up, and several in between. All of them have good flavors and very different. There are also roasted whole jalapenos, onions, etc. which are great to add as topping to whatever you order. One of us had the burrito plate and I had the beef enchilada plate. All of it was very good. The burrito had fajita meat in it and was a good size portion. The enchiladas were ground beef with the red sauce. I would order either one of these again. The chips were good, nice and crunchy and the service was great. Very attentive and friendly folks. I did like the previous menu even though I could not always read it, but it was more of an adventure that way. It is very loud in there, even at lunch time due to the concrete floor and metal chairs. Ordered chicken enchiladas and chicken taco. Not sure if they just are getting the lowest quality chicken during covid or what but it was greasy and chewy. It was not edible. So many reviews on here with clueless people... This is a taco joint, they've always been a taco joint. If you are ordering refried beans and flour tortillas you are doing it wrong - stick to Taco Bell. I've been coming here for a decade, back when it was cash only and you had to order in Spanish. Their al pastor is one of the best in town (no pineapple). The biggest secret to Taco More is their to-go option. You can get a pound of taco meat for $20. It comes with cilantro onion garnish and tortillas. Make sure to get some green sauce in there. You can eat it fresh, or reheat it the next day in a small pan. YUMM! I'm eating some right now. Lately the $2 pints and $4 mugs have me coming in regularly. The Horchata is also delicious. read more

Taco More in RR is a very good value for the price. The location is slightly obscured being behind a Long John Silver and Baskin Robbins where a previous Mexican restaurant resided. The menu has a great variety of tacos so they live up to their name for sure. We had the pastor and fajita ($2 and $2.50) and both were well worth it. The beef was marinated well and tender. The pastor was good but in need of some added twang for flavor. To add flavor they do have a great salsa bar, but you better like a kick with your salsa. 6 varieties of salsas and this made the pastor much better once added. You do get chips when seated along with a warm salsa not on the bar. We also got the ceviche and that was the only disappointment. I was hoping for a bit more flavor. Added salt and some salsa and this helped greatly. The amount was decent for a medium ($9). It came out last instead of as an appetizer. The service is very authentic so your drink may run out, but the staff will gladly refill when asked. For the price it is one I will be returning to for lunch often. read more

First of all, the food was brought out to each of us separately. Everyone else in the restaurant was not served that way. This establishment is very racist. They served us our food and never came to check on us. We never received refills on our water, that we drank before our food even came out. So we ate our whole meal with nothing to drink. The waitress checked on all of her other tables, made eye contact with us and still didn't get us water. We waited about 20 minutes and finally our waitress came to the table, with our empty waters at the end and asked if we needed anything. It was very obvious we were being treated differently. I get fajita beef tacos every time I go, and this time the meat wasn't cut up all the way, I look around and everyone else's was diced. Mine were 2 inch chunks that were impossible to chew. After going back and forth with one of the employees they didn't want to, but they remade my tacos. And guess what they were cut up just like everyone else's. It took us calling them out before they stopped treating us differently. We will not be back to this location, I advise you to avoid this location and drive 20 minutes to the Austin location.
