Drove for 10 mins around 8pm and hardly anything was open. Low and behold, just steps away from the hotel we stayed at (Holiday Inn Express) there was a Mexican restaurant. We went inside and were seated right away by friendly staff, in the bar area. OMG the Carne Assad plate I ordered was THE BEST IVE EVER HAD!!! I highly recommend it if you're a Carne Assad lover. This was my 2nd Casa Ramos dining experience, first at this location. This where you stop at when you are headed north in I-5, not a fast food place. I ordered an amazing combo: Chile Verde Enchilada and Chicken Chalupa with rice and beans. WOW!! The chalupa was like 3 times the size of the feeble Taco Bell version. I didn't know these were supposed to be this big. Life changing, filled with cheese , tomatoes, lettuce, and a extremely tasty shredded chicken that had me hella stoked. Hubby was starving so decided to give this place a try. Lady that brought chips was personable and courteous. Restaurant looks a little rundown. I ordered the flauta plate. Flautas were not crispy at all (not pictured) hey perhaps this was their take on flauta. Although they looked like mini burritos the attached pictures are of shredded lettuce gone bad that was hiding under the guacamole and sour cream. The hubby ordered chicken fajita quesadilla, which only had 6 strips of chicken and some onions. His plate also had some bad lettuce under his sour cream and guacamole. I informed staff of my observation. Food quality is low and extremely overpriced. Management perhaps you would be better off just not serving rice or beans and opt for fresh lettuce (produce) instead. I mean I have gotten better quality food from taco truck. This may be a "time and place" review. I am extremely biased to love Casa Ramos simply because the only times I've eaten here have been nights after I've spent the day at Thunderhill just up the road and am surrounded by amazing friends who are all talking about racing cars. Yeah, food is going to taste better than it otherwise might when you've got a smile plastered across your face the entire time. The food here has always been very good. Granted, eating after track days are kind of like eating after hiking where ANYTHING tastes amazing, but I do distinctly remember enjoying the food a great deal. The drinks are large and reasonably priced. As some people have said, the prices are a little higher than one would expect for its location, but I am going to give some leeway on that since I would assume a decent portion of its clientele is arriving to drive cars as fast as they can for recreation. The restaurant itself is larger than one would expect and the seating is plentiful. I loved the lighting and the general atmosphere. I am smiling now just thinking about it. read more

YUM! I love Mexican food and this place actually has quite a good selection as well as great tasting Mexican food. Although the disclaimer is that it REALLY DOES depend on what you order ... personally I always like to do combo plates. In my combo plate I typically always select some kind of enchilada, tamale or soft taco combination so i think all of those things are great here. They have a great selection of alcoholic drinks and looks to be a fairly family friendly environment as well (and all the more fun that I put those two things in the same sentence ... lol). I enjoy their supremely quick service in getting the food out and their salsa IS spicy so be forewarned :). I can't wait to come back here soon when I come to Thunderhill again. read more

Wanted to eat here last night, but didn't even get the chance. Walked in and two employees saw us, but nobody acknowledged that we were even there and one of them started talking to another guest that walked into the waiting area after us. If you are out to the racetrack and tired of black bear diner this is the place to go. There is another Mexican place a block away but this place is way better. Servers are nice but don't really understand changes to your order. We asked for no onions but got extra onions. No big deal. If you need service to be on point this might not be the place. Food wise it was fantastic. They have a lot of low carb options and the meal we had was delicious. Large portions but perfect after a long day on the track. Come hungry and leave full is def a mantra here. I highly recommend the fajitas with lettuce cups. I loved making my wraps and topping it the way I like. We opted out of the rice and beans but our companions said the beans were delicious. The tortilla chips and salsa that were complimentary were also fresh and tasty. This place is tasty, affordable, great portion size and nice atmosphere. Personally this is my favorite place in Willow. I look forward to coming here during all our track visits. read more

Service was horrible the wait staff was ridiculously rude. They got our order wrong and also mixed our plates up. Not to mention my Bloody Mary tasted like spicy tomato paste. Victor was the only person who tried to compensate for the all around horrible experience. As a woman from the local community that use to love this restaurant it was a shock to me how rude the original waitress was and how long the wait was. I use to do that as a job so I am more than understanding and have compassion for those who work in this industry. I have never wanted to snatch a waitress up by her hair as bad as I did today and teach her some manners and how to do her job appropriately. The manager didn't make us pay for the food (which I didn't eat mine anyhow) and only charged us for our drinks. As this was suppose to be part of my Mother's Day treat from my boyfriend it put quite a damper on the day. read more

Cockroaches love it here. Stopped here on my way north to watch the MLB All-Star game and have a bite to eat. Ordered the poppers as an appetizer. Way too chewy. Ordered carne asada with a chile relleno. Plate was loaded with beans, rice, sour cream, quac, steak was big enough, nicely grilled. All was fine until a cockroach walked across the bar right next to my plate. I wasn't even half-way thru eating. Suffice to say, I was somewhat grossed out and the meal was over. I come to Willows two to three times and year and usually dine at Casa Ramos, one of the few reasonable dining options around. I was there at the end of last week, and on Friday evening I walked in the restaurant to make a reservation for later that night. I was surprised to see that none of the staff was wearing a mask. I don't even want to know what's going on in the kitchen. No masks, no gloves, complete disregard for all safety protocols? I immediately walked out and will never come back again. There was really nothing in the area and my friends and I were looking for more than McDonald's after spending a day at the racetrack (Thunderhill). Amidst all the restaurants with the obviously fake reviews in the area, we decided on this place. From the outside, it looks like the nicest restaurant in the area (that's not saying much). When we got in, it looked like an upbeat Mexican restaurant with stereotypical decor. The service was average. The chips and salsa was decent, but the food sucked. The food was just bland and not very good in general. The drinks were decent, but not worth it. They have a captive market for all the people that are at the track, but I think I'd rather get some beers at Walmart, go to McDonald's and drink at the track or my hotel room next time. read more

There must have been a period in California when Mexican restaurants felt they needed to install giant wooden booths. Now they all look dated, and I cringe when I walk into a place with this decor, because I know what sort of food may be in store: bland and mediocre. I was working in the area for the day, and my coworker chose this for lunch. It took a very long time for us to be waited on, which is a big issue for me on a weekday at lunch. Most people don't have the luxury of time if they are on a work lunch break. Once we finally did order, it took a long time for our food to be served, even though the restaurant was far from full. The portion was big, but the meat was under-seasoned and lacking flavor that I would expect to find from a good Mexican restaurant. You're better off finding a good taqueria in the area. read more

What I had: Pollo y mas. This is a pounded, seasoned, grilled chicken breast, and you pick a second item. It's a combo. I had the chile relleno. It was so flavorful, giant, beautifully seasoned, stuffed with runny delicious cheese and lightly battered and fried, that I'd drive all the way back for just this one single item. I also liked the warm fresh chips, although the salsa was not exciting to me (however, you'd never know it, I ate so much.) Iced tea was okay. Service was great. The amount of food on that plate took me through 2 dinners. For about 15 bucks plus tip, I think this is a great place to stop. Turns out, this place is a chain, and a pretty decent one at that. Basically, if you are thinking about opting for the Black Bear Diner, check around to see if there is a Casa Ramos, AND GO THERE INSTEAD. Desperate, hungry and just arrived in town for the night, Casa Romos was pretty convenient since its right across the parking lot from the Baymomnt Inn & Suites. I tried to keep my order as simple as possible, but I must say, the salsa and sour cream was probably the best part of the meal. Bland shrimp, pale lettuce leaves (mostly iceberg), the beans looked and tasted canned and microwaved, hard rice, and previously frozen vegetables turned what I thought would would be a mediocre meal to downright nasty. I go to this place whenever I'm up at Thunderhill, and without regrets. It's one of the few good hangout places in town - good ambiance with a bar, sports tvs, and good food. Most of the track junkies and instructors go there, so you know it's gotta be good! The portions can be overwhelming, so come hungry! I usually get the combination meals, and I've never been able to finish one... Good chips and salsa while you wait, and a large selection of drinks is available. Service is usually quick...
