Open on Sunday. The line wasn't clear and the woman hung up on me now. Ordered guacamole, mole poblano rojo, chicken fajitas with corn tortillas and a hot salsa ($2). Their house mild salsa is decent. We asked for their hotter salsa ($2) and it made me cough, it's quite hot. The hot and mild are pretty good together. The corn chips are okay, crunchy but they don't taste so fresh. The guacamole isn't too bad, a tad salty. Their chip basket for the first was wider than the second basket that we asked for with our guacamole. The mole was okay, until I nearly broke my teeth biting into a bone in an assembled taco from the mole. I was done eating after the 2 inch bone in the chicken mole. The waitress is running all of the tables. She isn't super warm or friendly much. The waitress stopped by and asked if the food was okay. I told her there was a bone in my mole and pointed to it on the plate. She asked me if I wanted a box. I told her no, that I nearly broke my tooth biting into the taco. She gave me a deadpan look and grabbed the plate and looked really upset with me. I went to have dinner with my family last weekend and the food was good, the service was TERRIBLE. There was a girl working with two little girls who seemed to be under 10 years old, and the waitress was arguing with them because they didn't behave. It is not the first time that I see children working in this restaurant on weekends and it worries me because they bring you the glasses and hot dishes and it's a problem if one day someone gets hurt by accident that involves the children. I think they should do something about it soon. We already let the waitress know but she doesn't seem to care what we think. read more

I just love this place. I come here on my lunch break at least once a week if not more. I recommend the Chips and Queso, Bean Gordita, Cheese Chile Relleno, and Bean Tostada. The tamales taste like they were frozen then microwaved, the sauces are bland - this is a white guy latin restaurant. Don't bother.

The food is edible but has no redeeming qualities. If you want to have the blandest Mexican food possible this is the place. Steak tacos were meh, the chicken tacos were extremely dry. You could make better at home in a crock pot. I would recommend Qdoba or Taco Bell over this place. If you want a public school lunch room version of Mexican then this place is perfect for you and it will set you back about $50 just to feed two people. read more

My coworker visits one of their other locations fairly regularly and suggested I give Casa Real a try. While the decor is kind of cute and the service was good, that is pretty much where it all ended. We ordered a few different things from the menu to get a feel of the place. Now it is common to fill up on chips and salsa so much to where you don't finish your meal, this wasn't the case. The beef was super greasy (think like wringing out a wet towel) and the cheese they used just made things worse. The chicken in the burrito was pretty delicious, though. After a few bites of the variety we ordered and it felt like we had boulders sitting in our stomachs. So uncomfortable and sick feeling. Slop. Some of the worst Mexican food we've had. This was our first (and last) time trying Casa Real and were hoping to have found a hidden gem. No such luck. Luckily the draft beer is very cheap. They start by bringing chips and salsa. No handmade chips here, just the $.99 version you buy at any store. We ordered burritos and a chimichanga. Neither were good. The chimichanga was not friend long enough so it was all soft. The waitress brought the plates and when she went to put it down, the "beans" almost came off the plate. They were disgusting and essentially just brown water. There were no beans at all-just some sort of slimy liquid. We pulled in and I swear it looked like an abanded party store but with a full lot of cars. Watch where you drive though because the parking lot needs alot of work! My husband and I were looking for some good Mexican and didn't want to go to Detroit. We opted for Casa Real because it had such good reviews. I think people have never been to Mexican Village so don't know what authentic Mexican is, or they were being gracious. To start, the service. No one was taking names. We were waiting (along with 2 other groups) for about 10 minutes before someone in another group asked about it. It was disorganized. Our waitress was friendly. We asked for recommendations and she didn't have any. Now the food. Prices were good, portions were pretty big. Taste and quality were good, but not worthy of a 4 or 5 in my opinion. They put a cheese sauce on so many of their dishes, leaving them soupy. The flavors were quite bland in my dish. I got a combination that had a ton of stuff. Chicken burrito, beef burrito, taco, tostada, chili relleno, tamale, beans, and rice. Taco and beef burrito were the only two that had enough flavor to me. To wrap this up, I'd give it another shot some day, but I'm in no rush. read more

We arrived after 9 and saw numerous cars in the parking lot....good sign! We walked up to the door only to be told they are closed. We could see people inside enjoying food and drink. We inquired why they were closed at 9pm when the hours said open until 11. The reply was that the next day was cinco de Mayo and they were going to be really busy. So disappointed along with a handful of other guests in the parking lot trying to find another Mexican restaurant. I'm not sure what goes on at this establishment. While Casa Real had the big plates down, they severely missed in flavor and quality of food and drink. The margaritas were all mix, and not even good mix at that. This place has gone downhill in a big way. A couple of months ago, a friend and I met for dinner here and we waited over an hour and our dinner never came. We ended up walking out. We decided to give it another shot for lunch today, and it wasn't much better. There was only 1 waitress and it is a Tuesday lunch hour. Granted, it was not crowded. Including our table, there were a total of 5 tables. The chips were stale. My friend ordered a large margarita and was given a small. Her chicken burrito came out and it was a beef burrito. It had to be sent back because she does not eat red meat. My nachos came out 40 minutes after my friends meal was served. When her correction was made to her burrito, it came out burnt. This is the closest to a Cantina place, beer at an affordable price and really good appetizers, same way as a Cantina. Don't miss asking for the ground beef sopes, those are real Mexico flavor. Any type of carne asada or parrillada are good as a main entree. read more

This was one of our favorite places to go, until today. Sticky floors, a grungy menu, and a waitress who was clearly miserable should have made us leave, but alas, we didn't. When I received a skunked draft beer and told the waitress there was something wrong with it there was no 'sorry' or 'we'll check it' - **2 of us tasted it to be sure** I requested a different draft and clarified that the original is my favorite kind, so it's not that I didn't like the brand/type, and suggested the keg/draft needed to be checked. No response/acknowledgement. As for food, an order for a beef & cheese quesadilla resulted in receiving ground beef between 2 flour tortillas warmed in a microwave; no cheese, not grilled. Waited for bill. Eventually waved-down waitress & requested a bill. Waited. Received it but original (undrinkable) beer still appeared on tab. Requested a revised bill. Waitress didn't return to the table. Eventually went to her at hostess stand and requested again; a new bill was (literally) tossed in front of me. I don't know what has happened to this place. If our waitress is THAT miserable and the quality of food & drinks has diminished THAT much, it's sad. We will not be going back and we will no longer recommend. read more

Stopped up here last week when we had some friends visiting... it was a Thursday about 6 pm. The waitress was extremely attentive but not annoying. Quickly brought out just ok salsa and warm chips. She made sure all of our drinks stayed full and we were throwing her some serious mix changes! We started our order with a queso fundido, which was the authentic style that I am used to from Mexico but it was decent. The portions were large! One member at the table had the seafood platter (it was $18.99 and we had plenty of food left over), I did the two tacos for $4.99 and could not finish both! Hubby had a combo platter, ate like a little piggy, loved it and still had left overs.... Although I cannot remember what the other member at the table ate- he loved it. We loved Juan's and were so bummed when we saw they were closed! But after trying Casa Real, we were pleasantly surprised to discover they had such delicious food! The menu was different from Juan's - it seems like they have more of a traditional Mexican menu, not that I would really know - but there is a wide variety of dishes, and not just tacos, burritos and whatnot. We have eaten here three times and our food as been great each time. On our last visit, they were very full and the wait staff seemed overwhelmed. When we sat down the people at the tables near us were being very vocal about their disappointment with the service. Our server was apologetic for the slow service and treated us well. We don't expect to super fast service during dinner time on a weekend, so we had no problems with it. If you want fast food, go to McDonald's! A word of advice: stay away from the melon margarita... but the peach and strawberry are both amazing! read more

First off, I would like to say I am only giving a two star because the blonde waitress did an amazing job. I have been coming to this location, when it was Juan's Hacienda, for 19 years. So when I drove by and saw it had changed, I was heartbroken to say the least. I decided to try it, hoping the food would still be the same. I went with two friends, we were the only people in the restaurant. They added booths, which I enjoy. But the decor is tacky to say the least. I never had to ask for a refill on my water, or chips. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, I made sure to ask if there were onions or peppers, and I was told the chicken was cooked with onions but you couldn't taste them. What I got was literally the most disgusting quesadilla in my life. It was one quesadilla, decent size, but not enough to fill you up. It was mostly chicken and not much cheese. There were chunks of red and brown things inside. I have no idea what the brown things were, but it was chewy, like mushrooms. The meat tastes completely like onions. The cheese was a liquid texture that had solidified. I tried covering it with sour cream, but I just couldn't eat it. The waitress did offer to bring me something else, but I declined. She asked if anyone else wanted it before taking it up and my friend took a bite. He said it tasted like a cheesy chicken noodle soup. One friend got the chicken burrito, which she said was good but she would probably not come back because she prefers Mexican Town. My other friend got the steak fajitas, which were so chewy and charred. I am still shocked he ate them. However, the Burritos Los Panchos were very dry as if someone is trying to create a so called healthy menu by squeezing every last drop of fat out of the chicken.
