It pains me to write this review about this much anticipated new restaurant opening. But I feel our home town of Brighton has been anxiously awaiting the opening of Casa Tequila. Many of my friends were hoping to finally get a really good, authentic Mexican restaurant , with great quality food , service , and nice atmosphere. This week was the opening week, so my family and I went to dinner on Thursday evening. The inside, new patio and decor are awesome and they upgraded the one very small restroom from the previous ownership. Still to small for the number of guests this place can hold on a busy day, but cleaner. The service to be blunt was terrible, our server was not trained well and had a challenge taking a drink order . Then food orders came and they said at one point " I don't know how to not give you beans or rice with your meal so you might just get it anyway ". Really???? How about this one " I'll right changes in suggestion area but they don't read instructions well in the kitchen so no guarantees it comes out right " Ok that one shocked us . 45 min later the food came out and was cold and when we ordered it was not wall to wall people. Lastly, the menu is just like the owners other restaurants Tres Amigos nothing special at all and for the hundred dollars, plus tip I paid we agreed we won't go back. All this time waiting for this new place and so disappointed to say the least. We will gladly keep driving to Mexican Village in Detroit, even with current gas prices or go to Maya Cocina Mexican in Livonia to get great Mexican food, awesome drinks and top service and for this price I'll pay more for great food. Yikes. I think they still need to work things out. I had the Carne Asada and my meat was tough and dry. It was as if it was cooked ahead of time and set aside until an order was placed. Our other dish was the Carnitas. Again, dry. Carnitas should be chunky and moist. My advice to the chef would be to let the carnitas sit in its juice before serving. On the plus side, the sides were really good. I especially liked the pepper on the side of my plate. Yummy. read more

Quick service. The waitstaff and kitchen communicated electronically via headsets during my visit, Thursday September 8th. It was a Warm Sunny day. I was seated on. A nicely shaded patio. They do have an annoying bee problem. Bees like margaritas. The chips and salsa were served right away. The fajitas came soon afterward. My waitress was pleasant. Admittedly I was unimpressed with Casa Tequila. The food was below average, with a salty tortilla soup and nachos that were mostly iceberg lettuce (it just didn't look very appetizing). The passion fruit margarita was AMAZING, but I don't think I'd come back for the food. read more

First and last time there. Salsa was awesome! Entrees were just ok. Cheap prices but still hoped for leftovers. I had Pollo Loco. I ate both thin slices of chicken. Cheese sauce was ok. Wife had a combo. She didn't eat it all but didn't want to take leftovers home. Not great. For Brighton you have to step it up! Service wasn't great. Only had one glass of wine. I am sorry to write this but this place was really not good. Nothing tasted fresh or authentic. The margaritas used a mix, the guacamole had no flavor.. no garlic or cilantro or onion or salt and tasted like it came out of a bag. The cheese used in our quesadilla was some crap American cheese, not even Mexican cheese. And the chips wee definitely not fresh but were stale, had no flavor and tasted like they came out of a bag. Food was average for an authentic Mexican restaurant. However the food took over an hour to get to the table. The place was not very busy. The service was TERRIBLE!!!!! Never got what we ordered without an explanation. I may give this place another chance but not any time soon. If I want Mexican food I will stick with Mexican Fiesta. Way better food and service. It seemed as though we were an inconvenience more than anything. We had a party of 3. We only waited 15 minutes to get a table but after that everything went downhill after that. My fajitas were cold, soaked in oil, and virtually had no steak. Chips had no flavor of salt.

We went to CT for dinner on 6/26 at 6pm. We chose to sit outside on the very nice patio, so I cannot speak about the interior of the restaurant. We decided to give them a shot in spite of some less than good reviews early on. They seemed to be understaffed. Tables were always waiting for something, including ours. We got the chips and salsa, the salsa was not good. Did not have any flavor. The chips were good. We got a large guacamole, the other 3 people ate it but said it was meh. They never gave us any plates, just a container of guacamole. Two of us got fish tacos. Again, no plates. Just an aluminum taco holder on top of a wood cutting-board-like affair. We asked for plates but never received them. The 2 of my fish tacos had almost no fish in them, and one was jammed with what I will kindly refer to as "fish jerky" that had been cooked to death and had no flavor. They were also topped with LOADS of mayonnaise. I mean loads. They were just terrible. I choked down one and took one bite of the second one before giving up. IMO fish tacos are not hard to make. So it was impressive to me that these were so very bad. My one friend who also had the fish tacos had a similar experience. Our other friend had a chicken chimichanga, and he said he had never gotten a chimichanga that was not crispy on the outside. Strike two. His son had a simple chicken burrito. I noticed he only ate about one inch of a roughly 10-11" burrito. Strike three. We had to wait extremely long for anything we asked for, except the main meal came out quickly. The waitress was very nice just not too attentive but probably too busy. I don't particularly fault her. A woman who was with a large party of 12 people next to us was stark Raving mad because "they would not accept or break a $100 bill in downtown Brighton." (A particularly wealthy area) I cannot confirm this myself but it's what she said. I really had high hopes for this place, as I always hope new businesses succeed, especially in the challenging business of serving food. I also am not one to leave negative reviews, but the food and overall experience (besides the nice but non attentive waitress) was exceptionally bad. I mean next level bad food-wise. They are going to make some serious changes in staff and recipes or this place is going down fast. I hope that is the case. Only then would I give them another chance or recommend them to others. Would give it a zero if that was an option. Was really anticipating some good Mexican in the area only to be disappointed once again. We first sat at the bar only to be overwhelmed by the smell of bleach. And I mean strong. I asked the bartender if it was the rags on the counter but was informed that the bleach or cleaning area was right behind the bar counter and that's just how it is there. Who wants to eat their food while smelling bleach?? We moved to a booth out of the bar. My food was warm at best. It was obviously sitting there while they were preparing my husbands food (which was hot). Food was mediocre at best. And people get with it already. Been open 2days.... Walked in at 2:56 pm for a nice lunch. Noticed the lunch special and was excited to give them a try. In process of ordering they would not take our lunch order special at 3:01 pm. One of the worst experiences in a long time we've lived in this area for 22 years decided to try it out tonight. Top shelf margarita was $15 and had pop in it. We ordered Two dinners. Guacamole was tasteless, and then we ate our chips and ran out of sauce waiter never asked if we wanted more. We literally took a bite or two out of our dinners and sat there for 10 or 15 minutes and decided we had enough. As for a bill he shows up with his little handheld computer and pushes out some numbers. At that point I said you notice something different about this table he said no I said you notice all the food is still there but a bite or two. He then laughs. Don't waste your time. Help was the worst, bartender was a few feet away and she started laughing at the waiter laughing...the few bites we ate were no worth the calories....dont waste your time here....Taco Bell is probably better! read more

Ordered steak fajitas needed a magnifier to find steak. The steal was similar in size to minced onions, tiny, tiny pieces. The restaurant has only 2 tablets for groups of 6. If you have 8 people good luck. The table for 6 was also tiny hardly big enough for the food and drink order. Waiter was less than average, he never check back on our Group. We had to flag him down more than twice. In general this place is tiny after all renovations. They don't accept reservations. It's my opinion this establishment doesn't compete with other Mexican restaurants within 10 mile radius. I seriously don't think we'll be returning. I visited this new restaurant for the first time today. Beautiful decor, love how the remolded the place! When I entered the restaurant the staff seemed very low energy. Nobody greeted me or said hello. I ordered a classic margarita with house tequila and it was $11.00. Just so so, couldn't taste the tequila! With tequila in the name of the restaurant the margaritas should be on point. No happy hour was offered, we were here at 4:45 pm during the week.The food was very bland. I ordered the chicken polo $ (13.75). The chicken was very tough and dry! Hopefully they can work out the kinks and get things together as this is a great location and it is very pretty inside! As far as food goes, it was great for our first time. We got the Molcajete, which I love, however this one seemed to be missing shrimp (that most other places have in those). I did like the tenderness of the beef (which is hard to get with skirt steak) and the fact that the meat was not over salted. The waiter seemed a bit annoyed with simple requests like asking for a half and half margarita (not a big deal) or getting half sugar half salt on the rim (I mean it's all right there)...I've made plenty in my time and it's not difficult. Walked in with low expectations based on all the reviews. We thought we'd give it a try. We were seated immediately at 6 on a Thursday. Really cool atmosphere and our server, Edwin, was great! The food came out so fast and was about what we expected for Mexican in the area. Ordered grilled fish tacos, a nacho entree, and a chipotle burrito bowl. We all were pleasantly surprised! First time visiting today for lunch. We got right in and service was quick. Staff was friendly. Traditional margarita on the rocks was very good. Chicken chimi was okay. My husband said the shrimp tacos were excellent and very flavorful. Chips come warm and are served with individual salsa bowls. We'll be back. read more

We only got two large margaritas (one each) and our bill was $48. We thought it was a mistake. There's no way a margarita would cost near 25 dollars! It wasn't even that big. This is worst than frozen or can Mexican fare. So disappointed I waited all summer for another cheap ingredient Mexican restaurant to open. Bland, with no authentic tasting food. I ordered the sample plate to find out what I would like to order on our next visit. Fresh cilantro, fresh garlic, fresh onions, fresh oregano, fresh tomato and fresh healthy unsaturated with cheap restaurant oil would have been so nice to have savored. We finally went for the first time, and had an amazing experience! They did such a great job inside and outside. The staff was wonderful and so helpful. The food was delicious! We got the tacos de birria, which were absolutely delicious! We also got the tacos Al pastor, and they were also delicious! The spicy sauce that comes with them is phenomenal! We also got the special dinner which was a little bit of everything. My husband really enjoyed it! I thought the rice and beans were very flavorful. Our exchange student was able to speak Spanish with the staff, and it made his day! The margarita was quite delicious as well. We all can't wait to go back! Went here on a Friday night. Was unusually uncrowded for a Friday. Figured it was probably due to construction. Upon entering, we had to wait for someone to clear a table for over 10 minutes (no line at all). Finally, we had to ask someone to seat us (they forgot about us). They sat us outdoors and there were 7 tables that were not bussed. Looked very messy. Food was blah...queso dip tasted like day old junk out of a can. Enchilada sauce tasted like pasta sauce. Two times now I have come and ordered a vegetarian meal and got bits of meat in it. We have come many times to this restaurant and it's just hard to be treated poorly after always tipping well and spending a fair amount of money. The problem is the second time I could tell they were speaking poorly of me and weren't willing to talk to me to figure out what was going to make it right. The upper management of this company owes me several grand for construction services I provided for them this past summer. Payments have been late in the pass, communication is poor, project management was a mess. Which caused issues with our epoxy install. It was a constant 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I has verbally assualted by 1 of their subcontractors. He threatened to beat me up over several small issues. I told the supervisor and they said they fired this person. 1 month later , i saw this same toxic individual working for them again. This is a shady operation. They own all of the Los Tres Amigos, and several resturaunts in East Lansing. It has been close to 4 months since I sent the final invoice. My main contact with this company blocked my number and changed his email. The main office is ignoring my calls. I've tried every line of communication that is available. I run my painting business with my best friend. It's just us. We are not out price gouging or cutting corners. Just trying to make an honest living doing what we enjoy. I desperately need to get paid. It set me back 2 months financially. Please help read more

I usually don't leave reviews. However, this restaurant was a huge disappointment. The service in particular was very poor. Food came out very slow and our waitress stopped by our table a grand total of three times. Once to take our order, once to drop of our food, and the final time to give us the check. I think the major insult is she forgot all our sides and then charged us for them. When I pointed this out......she just said sorry and continued to charge us. Decor and plating are really well done, and the chips and guac were tasty. I was happy to see al pastor and birria tacos on the menu, too. Unfortunately everything just tasted really bland. The birria tacos were full of grease (not the good kind) and the meat had big clumps of fat. The consome was flavorless, which was remarkable. Was it watered down too much? Overall ended up feeling like a big bland bowl of grease. My wife ordered fajitas, and the meat there was flavorless as well. I don't know if the chef was having an off day, but we both found it surprising how bland our plates were. read more
