The food here is phenomenal! The homemade tortillas set them apart from the rest. They're salsa with chunks of cheese is the perfect starter and unlike any other restaurant! The crispy tacos were fantastic, prices and portions are fair. Service is wonderful and I love the ambience here. It is definitely a cool vibe, highly recommended for some authentic and flavorful Mexican food!

It was just our luck that happened to be Cinco de Mayo and my out of town friend wanted an early dinner of some delicious Mexican food. We beat the dinner rush and didn't have to wait for a nice patio table. The service was impeccable and friendly. There was a festive and fun mariachi band. The calamari cognac was amazing. So were the margaritas made fresh from the cart. I love this place and my out of town guest was impressed!

The tortillas made here are out of this world, you lose count of how many you eat. The food is so gas, everything hits every single time. Will be back soon. The service is very good and the vibes/atmosphere at night are unmatched. It is well worth checking out. Will always be stopping by when in Venice.

I live very close by and would say this is a good but not great Americanized Mexican food restaurant. It's been open since 1980 and is quite popular here in Venice. Inside is fairly large with many different seating options from booth, to table, to bar seating. Our server was polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. They also make the tortillas right on site and they were one of the best parts of the meal because they were absolutely delicious and very fresh. There is also a large free parking lot attached on the side and in the back of the restaurant. For this visit I ordered the Carne Asada Tampiqueña and enjoyed it. The carne was a bit fattier than I prefer and I was not a huge fan of the rice but the tortillas and the side enchilada were very good, I appreciated the crispy cheese topper on the enchilada specifically. Overall, I would say this is a solid option for a casual Mexican lunch or dinner with friends or family especially if you are in a rush. The location is honestly really great and the easy parking is also a big bonus.

I came here on a Friday night without reservations (my understanding is that it's walk in only for small groups). I was initially concerned that the wait would be long since it was packed with people, but my group of four people was seated immediately. As we waited for our server to come by our table to take our orders, I casually looked around the room to get a sense of the vibe of this restaurant. It's basically a Mexican food restaurant that's Casablanca themed. The walls are decorated with different variations of Casablanca movie posters. But the restaurant does have more character than that. It has a very lively and fun atmosphere which I think would be great for after work happy hours. In fact, they had a person walking around with a mobile margarita cart to make margaritas table side. I won't say the service here is spectacular, but it was better than I expected given how busy this restaurant was. I didn't see an empty table for any extended period of time. What sets this restaurant apart from other Mexican restaurants is the fact that they make the flour tortillas fresh in the dining area. They give you these tortillas nice and warm in lieu of tortilla chips. The food here is excellent, including those fresh tortillas. I had the Queso Fundido, and Red Enchiladas. I would recommend both. For my drink, I had a virgin pina colada. It tasted very good, but it wasn't fully blended. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but it had chunks of ice in it. I would have preferred for it to be fully blended. The restaurant has a parking lot, but there are not a whole lot of spaces given how popular this place seems to be. You may have to drive around the restaurant to find street parking. Final thoughts - I'm not going to say this is one of the greatest Mexican food restaurants I've been to, but it's definitely worth checking out if you want to to go to a restaurant with a unique and fun vibe.

This was my second time to Casablanca- talk about traveling in a time capsule! Unlimited fresh tortillas with a green salsa and large chunks of cheese. A Cadillac margarita cart and huge portions of fajitas and combo plates at super reasonable prices. Will continue to return again and again!

Such a fun and inviting restaurant! Locals know it as a favorite themed restaurant for entertaining and serving delicious food. We did call ahead to make a reservation since they are packed every night. We were seated once our entire party arrived (as we did come a bit early). As soon as we were seated we were greeted by our server who took our orders right away. We did miss the margarita cart because our server was too quick with the drink orders, but that's okay, we were just happy to get our margaritas! The margs were quite strong at first, but after mixing them a bit more the marg had a perfect balance of mix to tequila. We did receive our salsa verde and fresh homemade tortillas right away. I would give 5/5 stars for this restaurant due to their tortillas alone. No other notes needed. Honestly all I needed was their margaritas and tortillas! I did end up ordering the chicken fajitas for my entree and it did not disappoint. The seasoning of the chicken and veggies was so flavorful. When I was served my entree I didn't receive tortillas and my friend that ordered tacos also did not receive tortillas, which I did find a bit weird. We ended up requesting tortillas for our meal and eventually we did receive them after two separate requests. I'm not sure if that's how the meals usually come or if they just forgot our tortillas but it all worked out. Otherwise, the service we received was good. Again, would go back for the tortillas alone. Just a heads up! There are not a lot of spaces in their parking lot so be prepared to find street parking and walk or uber/get dropped off there.

Our family came here for an early Father's Day lunch. When we entered, the restaurant was pretty empty but we were presented with fresh hand made tortillas. To say these were addictive is an understatement. Their menu had the usual fare that you'd find in a Mexican restaurant. However, I wanted to try their calamari after seeing pictures on Yelp. I was not disappointed. It was a generous portion of tender calamari with a sauce that included a few bay scallops. Others at our table seemed to enjoy their meal as well. The restaurant was decorated with a Casablanca theme, of course, which made sense given the name of the restaurant. Prices were reasonable. Free parking in their adjacent lot.

I went to Casablanca Restaurant with some pals today. I had the Two Chicken Enchiladas meal. I thought the green salsa on my enchiladas was a bit overly salty. I thought my meal was decent overall. I love the tortillas made on site along with the accompanying green salsa. I love the live music. I appreciated the staff honoring one of my pal's bday with song and a slice of cheesecake.

Love the movie Casablanca so the decor is fantastic (Sam's piano, wall mural). Food !! Yum yum yum!! Fresh flour tortillas with salsa was addicting. I ordered chicken fajitas and really enjoyed the rice and beans that came with it. Surprisingly, there is no item named Rick or Elsa but 2 items named Ivonne. I will go back when I'm in the area.

I am so happy that I discovered Casablanca! When my best friend and I walked inside Casablanca the decor and dimly lit lights caught my attention immediately. We were seated in a booth next to a station where we could see a lady making fresh tortillas. We decided on the immortal drink that was seen on posters outside the building. The waiter let us know this drink is made at the bar, but they also had a margarita cart that they bring to the table to make the drinks right in front of you. We were so happy with our choice of the immortal. This drink was so good that we ordered two more each during our time at Casablanca. For lunch I ordered the build your own tacos and I decided on corn tortillas instead of flour. Which the waiter let me know they are homemade just like the flour kind. While we waited for our food, we were given fresh tortillas with this salsa that tasted like avocado. We could not stop raving over the tortillas. They were so fresh and buttery. I would come here just to eat the tortillas and have a drink. The build your own tacos was pretty good. The meat and toppings are all separate so I could build my tacos to my likings. The only thing I wasn't too crazy about was the cheese. The taste was a little too different for me. My friend enjoyed her tacos as well. I was very pleased with the food and hospitality. Parking: There is a small parking lot beside the restaurant. Otherwise expect to park on the street and possibly a few blocks away. This area is pretty busy so I am sure a busy day parking can be tough.

On our way home from LAX, we were starving and as it was my sister in law's (and brother in law) wedding anniversary, who both love, love Mexican food...I made a bee line for Casablanca Mexican restaurant. I've made numerous visits but it's literally been 12 years since my last visit. I can only account for what I ordered, the Chimichangas, which was delicious and filling ! That said, everyone, a party of 7people, universally loved their food! Particularly the hand made tortillas! My wife, children, and in-laws had never had freshly made tortillas (at other Mexican restaurants). The fresh tortillas were a revelation! We received very good attentive service and didn't have to think twice about water and soda efills. Lastly, my in laws were touched that they got an acknowledgement of their anniversary on their dessert. The team took care of the little things and the food spoke loudly. We're not in the area often but will remember this experience! One last note: parking isn't plentiful! We found street parking and walked.

I love love love this restaurant! The fresh tortillas and sauce are the best I've ever had. It's like having a blanket in your mouth. The margs are delicious and they are made fresh in front of you on a cute little margarita cart. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. Live music is played nightly and the ambience and decor are fantastic.

Ask the Community - Casablanca Restaurant

    Are there any vegan options?

Hi Jason! I posted a review on this.

    Is there Happy hour?

No. One set menu and the server will predictably try and push you to order one of their overpriced menu items that are ALL garbage. But tortillas are good. But not worth coming back.

For street parking, which streets are good to look for spaces?

Is Casablanca vegetarian-friendly? What type of vegetarian items are on their menu?

They have some vegetarian options in the menu. But is not a vegetarian restaurant.

Is there an outdoor area here! And if so are small dogs allowed? Thank you!!!!

Where's your most updated menu? All I see is Sunday brunch menu

Do they do on line reservations? or call only?

    Reservations are not taken

    Do they have happy hour?

No - their hostess told me they do not offer happy hour.

Is mimosa brunch available on weekdays?

No, I believe it's only on Sundays.

    Do they allow pets?

They do not. No outside sitting area.

What time is the Sunday brunch?

They open at 11am on Sundays. Enjoy!

    Do they have kids menu?

They don't have a kid's menu but they do have a la carte dishes that may suit your children.

Do they still do the Sunday brunch with bottomless sangria?

    Yes they do!!

Coconut Rice (5/5) - I enjoyed this one. The rice had a nice coconut fragrance to it and they added crunchy flakes on top which gave it more texture. It paired well with the curry from the Shrimp dumplings. Kanpachi Ceviche (4/5) - This one was a bit underwhelming. The ceviche was good and fresh, but I've had better elsewhere. It also came with mini plantain chips which were nicely crisp, but I wasn't sure if they really matched with the ceviche. Fried Chicken Drumsticks (3.5/5) - The fried chicken was really crisp but was a bit too salty. It also came with a mango salad which was not bad. The bill came to about $100 for two, and we still left kind of hungry since the portions were on the smaller side. What a wonderful surprise…read more I live just around the corner from Jamaica Bay Inn, and for whatever reason, it took me far too long to finally have dinner here with family and friends. I wish I'd discovered it sooner. The restaurant overlooks Mother's Beach, and the setting is exactly what you'd hope for: peaceful, relaxed, and quintessential Marina del Rey. You almost expect the view to be the highlight... Then the food shows up. For appetizers, we shared the hummus plate and the calamari. Both were excellent. As someone whose kids were practically raised eating seafood around the ports of New England, calamari is one of those deceptively simple dishes we judge pretty harshly. Beachside absolutely passed the test. I ordered the cheeseburger, which was solid, but the real stars of the evening were the roasted Jidori chicken and the jumbo shrimp fettuccine. The chicken was perfectly juicy, something that sounds easy but surprisingly few restaurants consistently get right. The shrimp fettuccine completely stole the show. In fact, it's now become my daughter's regular takeout order, and she's easily the toughest pasta critic in our family. Congratulations... you've officially earned the title of our favorite pasta spot in the Marina. The service was another highlight. Our server spoke both German and Italian, had a great sense of humor, and made the evening feel warm and effortless. Between the location, the food, and the hospitality, I already know this is going to become one of our regular family dinner spots.

The French toast was Sahara dry, burned and flavorless. The chicken, was competing with it in the dry and flavorless category-- I really can't say which was worse. I don't really use hot sauce and I drowned the tenders in Cholula just to make it halfway edible. Literally we could have waited for the AMC chicken tenders and they would have been better, which is horrifying. Particularly when you try to avoid fried food in general and now you are poisoning your body for no good reason. Husband ordered a steak and eggs, medium well. I'll attach the picture and I'll let you be the judge of whether or not it was cooked properly. Eggs were not good either. Immediately, I gave hubby more than half my plate because he eats All of Everything that's put in front of him. Something would have to get up and walk off his plate for him to not eat it. He was taught not to waste food, period. The exception was steak so that he could take it home, cook it, and then eat it.
