We had a reservation and this place was packed despite having a reservation. We may have waited 10-15 minutes, so no big deal. We weaved in and around the place and were seated right in front of where they make their tortillas which they serve to the table while you look over the menu. I can say with 100% certainty that they are made all night long. These two women never tired and never stopped making the tortillas. I don't eat guac, but my wife does and we ordered some so she can get the whole experience here. She said it was very good and even better with the homemade tortillas. My go to is always chicken enchiladas. I got the green sauce version and it was quite tasty. Our waiter was really helpful with helping my wife make a decision and she landed on the shrimp fajitas. The service was great. The food was delicious. And the place was kitschy. Definitely worth checking out when you're in the area. read more

The Casablanca theme is also fun, especially if you're a fan (as I am) of the namesake film. Dined in on Saturday, 5/10/25 for pre Mothers Day dinner. There were 11 of us. We just chanced on a table. Luckily it was early enough when we arrived around 5:30pm. They were able to accommodate us by the bar area. I guess it's better than waiting. Our table was right next to the bar and there were so many people standing around crowding the area even hitting my chair as the server and people walking by. It was so annoying! People are just not respectful of others and they don't even acknowledge when they hit you, so rude!!! Our server was nice, patient and helpful with questions and quick to respond to any requests which made up for the inconvenience of our table situation. The food was good, everyone enjoyed it and the homemade tortillas were fire!!! They don't give chips and salsa, instead they give you hot and fresh tortillas for appetizers. We really enjoyed that treat. The restaurant is small but they did try to accommodate large groups. The place was really loud. They're located on Lincoln blvd and Rose Ave in Venice, Ca. First time visit and I can't wait to return. When we were seated, a plate filled with fresh tortillas (made right there in the dining room) was put down with this green mild salsa that had small cubes of cheese. The warm tortilla was soft and stretchy and delicious. Friends invited me to dinner and everything on the menu looked delicious. There were so many options. Our waiter was kind enough to answer my questions about the meat used in the tacos (shredded) and the birrerera quesadilla (also shredded meat but a different sauce). One of my friends ordered a burrito... what arrived was a meal that could have easily fed 2 people, maybe 3! I was almost envious, but I know I could not have made a dent in that burrito if I had ordered it. Another friend ordered the #10 (2 chicken suiza enchiladas) while his wife and I ordered the #5 (1 taco and 1 enchilada, substitute chicken suiza for cheese)... this plate was absolutely yummy! Served with a garlic rice and choice of black or refried beans. The enchilada sauce mixed with the rice and the beans so well. It was all so tasty. I think I can understand why the dining room was filled with people in the middle of the week. In addition, none of us were drinking alcohol, but apparently they have a famous margarita cart...it was impressive to watch even though we were not drinking. We ended on a sweet note of one of each of the available desserts: a jiggly flan and a dense cheesecake slice, both topped with whipped cream. Also delicious. For this evening, I was treated, but I did pay attention to the pricing that I expected to be higher. The prices on most entrees was reasonable, and though I'm not happy to "normalize" a $18 burrito, the size of the portion made the price very reasonable. Located at Rose and Lincoln this has been a landmark in Venice CA. They do have parking but you may need a shoe horn as parking is tight. We arrived on a Saturday night and while first come first served we were seated right away. 645 arrival and out by 730. We did not feel rushed but they clear plates while you are still eating. We had multiple people waiting the table they share the load. If you like Margaritas they have a cart to make them at the table. Live music fresh tortillas made in the dining room served hot with a green cheese and avocado salsa. Miles and and made with cilantro. My wife enjoyed it. I can not eat cilantro so I can not commit. My wife order the calamari steak which has very good flavor multiple finishes on this dish. I ordered at first the seafood soup but since I can't eat cilantro I had to change my order I had the Brasero which has a small piece of salmon a few shrimp and a scallop with peppers in a tequila salsa. Fish was to perfect in prep. It just in my humble option lactose any real flavor. Mains are served with rice and steamed vegetables. I left a bit hungry portions are fair in size just not enough protein. My wife finished her meal and wanted to go out for dessert ( this never happens) The live music was good. The restaurant is noisy and when we left the bar was crowded. You can eat inside or out. I would suggest a booth. Staff was friendly Dinner for two was very reasonable. This place has great food! It's almost like a fusion of Mexican and Arabic food which I found quite interesting but delicious to say the least. Came here for a late dinner, and my family and I enjoyed it! We all ordered the carne asada plate that comes with beans and rice, and homemade flour tortillas. My favorite part was the salsa that has chunks of cheese inside, perfect to eat with the flour tortillas. We also tried the margaritas, they tasted good and were strong! We called.. They said they don't take reservations but when we got there they apparently they do take reservations. We asked for a table they sat us down and then said we need the table in 35 minutes.. This was absolutely ridiculous..saying we told you we needed the table. Well then don't seat us. we waited 10 minutes for the server to come over to take our order that only left us 25 minutes to eat. The flour tortillas and the green sauce always bring me back, but I am a very disappointed on the cocktails. I order for cocktails and they're very simples. Honestly, they need to work out and some of their drinks Like espresso martinis or lemon drops. They just need an update for the drinks. My friends and I came here on a Monday night for dinner, not expecting it to be as lively as it was. They don't take reservations and we waited about 10 minutes for our table. There was a woman in the middle of the restaurant making fresh tortillas all night, which were so warm and tasty. There was a guy with a margarita cart who came by and made our drinks for us (they didn't specify on the menu but a marg is $15). There was also someone playing the piano! The decor is very eclectic and the restaurant is overall very high energy and fun. The food is primary Mexican cuisine and seafood. There are a handful of vegetarian options, but I didn't see any vegan items on the menu. The portions are decently large, especially with the endless fresh tortilla. I tried the salmon taco plate, which was tasty and came with all the components to make your own tacos. The food overall wasn't anything spectacular but good and filling. Fun spot for a family dinner! Came here on a Sunday night for an impromptu birthday dinner for my sister, and there was live music! The pianist even sang happy birthday to another party that was here for a birthday celebration. Not sure if it's every Sunday, but we're glad we caught it. This is my third or fourth time frequenting this spot. We usually tend to sit outside in their patio, but I must say, the inside is great!! While they recommended their calamari steak, we wished we'd ordered something else instead. We got the calamari with salsa fresca, due to dairy dietary restrictions and it wasn't great. But, we do think if you ordered the butter garlic, or any of the other options, the calamari would have been much tastier. The fajitas are always fantastic - rice is super flavorful. I love the steak but my sister preferred the chicken. We ordered guac as well. The servers were kind enough to get us new guacamole without cheese, as we didn't know it was topped with cheese (dairy restriction). They in turned also brought us a side of cheese for our fajitas when we asked to have it on the side. They're known for their margaritas but I opted for something less sweet, a michelada with Modelo Especial - it was alright. Now, if you ask me, the best part - their homemade TORTILLAS, freshly made right in the middle of the restaurant! Food - my go to has become the seafood enchiladas and of course I am always getting a spicy margarita (or a few) with my meal. Service - very kind servers and food arrives quickly! If it's busier in there sometimes you may have to wait a few minutes for the margarita cart but it is absolutely worth it. Ambiance - loud, a bit crowded but all in a good way. And the place is big 'n boisterous. But them Tortillas made with Love...man, they are outstanding. There's an interesting almost thematic dichotomy about this place...for example the (aptly named) ALMOST FAMOUS GRANDE POLLO BURRITO. It looked amazing and all of the ingredients in this construct were quite fresh; the boiled chicken, the onions, peppers, the refried beans and rice...but there wasn't any real flavor to speak of. It's like the DeLorean of the Mexican food world...all show, no go. Another example of this odd 'here, but not really' theme; the live music. The pianist's repertoire was truly hip, from Beatles to Stevie Wonder to Carole King to Radiohead...but the piano was out of tune, and the dude's voice didn't quite make it for me...don't play it again, Sam. And the final touch...the dashing and knowledgeable staff. They'd take care of you - complete with back 'n forth about your order and all that - but all without so much as the slightest hint of eye contact. What's up with that? I ordered a DON JULIO REPOSADO from the bar. It was a niiiice pour with a fresh lime - yet served without the slightest bit of eye-contact, lol. Hey, come here for the tortillas and that rockin' good GREEN SAUCE they serve - and, yes, explore their sprawling tequila menu. I've been meaning to step out of LA and into the world of Casablanca for years! And SO glad I did! The space really transports you in a kitsch way (and I mean that in the best way because I love kitsch) straight into the film. Everyone made you feel right at home and took our order/served us everything efficiently. The food was delicious! LOVED the live music touch! My only negative: it was SO hot in there. Granted, we were near-ish to the open grill for tortillas, but that describes many of the restaurant's tables. I can't imagine cooking there all day...that woman is a champ! The place was full and vibrant. They do not take reservations. They have a small parking lot. Home made tortillas are prepared right inside the restaurant in view I of dinners and mixed drinks are ordered and made right in front of you. The skinny spicy margarita was excellent! (Skinny = no sugary syrups added) Seasoned, experienced staff were welcoming, helpful, efficient and deliver flawlessly. Personally, I'm not a big fan of traditional Mexican food but what was served tasted like traditional Mexican food so I don't know what else to say. Wasn't exciting, wasn't disappointing. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the west side!! Parking: street parking was easy to find but they also have a private lot you can pay for as well. Casablanca was a great experience, we went there for my daughter's birthday and she absolutely loved it! We told the waiter that it was her birthday and at the end of the night two waiters came over, one with a saxophone and one with a little party hat, they sang happy birthday to us and it was so nice! They served us right when we sat down, and they gave us fresh made pita bread and an AMAZING sauce (we brought some home) and when we ordered the food came out pretty fast and smoothly. This was my first time here, we came for my mothers, and nephews birthday and also father Paul's. All February birthdays! The food was amazing!!!! I order shrimp ceviche, added a side of guacamole and chips which I used for my ceviche. I mixed the guacamole with ceviche ask for tapatio and you got yourself a good meal!!! Let me tell you they have hand made flour tortillas made in front of you. I swear my husband ate like 5 tortillas with the green salsa that had cheese squares inside. Look, this is a family-owned place dedicated to its patrons, restaurant, and cuisine, so I want to be respectful. LA has some stiff competition when it comes to Mexican food, so it's hard to say when I'll be back, but it's worth a try. Let's start with the good: handmade tortillas made in the front of the house are always a plus, and the tomatillo house salsa with diced avocado and cheese is yummy, as is their spicier red salsa! They have a standard offering of cervezas (I don't mind a Negra Modelo every now and then) and a large tequila selection. Pictured here is the Grande Carne Asada Burrito, which boasts tender and flavorful asada, but lacked the char flavor I really like on carne asada. The rice and beans were good, but I don't understand the squirt of crema on the rice. The cheese over the beans and burrito was melty and broiled, which made it extra yummy (don't threaten me with a good time!). Here's the thing: the movie took place in Morocco and it's a Mexican restaurant, which makes it a little kitschy. The theme also celebrates old Hollywood, so I get it... I guess. That said, this isn't a knock, because they're all in and I like that. Some people like the theme thing, however, for me, it's "take it or leave it" and I typically leave it. There are a bunch of blue and cool-tone lights that I don't think complement the overall ambiance nor reflect the warmth and kindness of their amazing staff and owner.
