    Argentinean asado, Sundays only
    Ron F.

Updating my review to 5 stars! Returned for the Argentinean asado on Sundays. Steak, short rib, chicken, sausage, morcilla, sweetbreads, a skewer of chicken hearts, an app of pork intestines, potatoes & a salad. An awesome feast!!

Came on Sunday for the $40 steak, chicken and pork dinner. I substituted the pork with more beef. Came with fries and a salad. Really delicious and flavorful. Will be coming back.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Santino's. We had read about its return to the original location after more than a decade, and it really does feel like a homecoming the moment you walk in. There's an easy, welcoming vibe, with sports on TV and family cooking on the grill in the back. It all just works. We started with the Gambas al Ajillo and Tortilla Española, then went for the grill dinner for two. Everything was spot on. The apps were flavorful, and the grilled meats were cooked perfectly, with plenty to share. Would definitely recommend, this place is a gem. Grill platter are available Sundays only.

Grateful for the service grateful for the good food would definitely return again. Pesto with some of the best I've had in a long time I appreciated the eggplant that came out. I love anything pickled the solid is something that I want to try to duplicate. I came on kind of a quiet day. I would love to come on a more lively day and see other people enjoying their time. I can't wait for my next time back at my neighborhood spot.

My wife and i we used to come to this place very often and we were heartbroken when they closed but after 10 years they are back at the same location, same owner, same chef and same delicious food.

    Live music Thursday

Wow. Walked in and greeted with amazing live music (Thursday), food and service just as great. The empanadas are worth the trip by themselves! Looking forward to next Thursday. Support this new local restaurant.....this is the type of place that makes Santa Monica/Venice great.

I have tasted much better paella's here in Los Angeles. Although I was extremely disappointed when served our orders, this was below even what we have in LA. Ambience amazing the reflection of stars has nothing to do with the service whatsoever. Actually our service was excellent. It was the food that ruined the experience. This is recently not uncommon in LA. We ordered the patatas bravas, camarones alijillo... I understand that every restaurant has to put their spin on it but this was really missing the mark... since when do we put a aioli sauce in paella or even on potatoes. Yuk!! Amsterdam, maybe but not in seafood. Also chimichurri on shrimp wow this is super new - I ordered paella in Spain at least 20 times and I've never seen it like this. Sangria excellent! Paella 5/10 - I know that they are cooking the seafood whilst still having the paella come out al dente - but our seafood was severely overcooked not much lobster, and a very thin layer of paella - incredibly disappointed, although it was date night and that made it great. I would not recommend this restaurant for paella. It has a great atmosphere. Good drinks nice atmosphere. I know this sounds terrible, but I'm just going to have to go back to La paella for the time being since a few of the restaurants that we frequent have closed - so we will see how long this lasts. Off to look for more restaurants with excellent paella. We definitely have a lacking here in the prime Westside.

We ordered the anchoa (anchovy bread), pedcadito Fritos (fried anchovy) and Bacalao fritters (fried cod fritters) to start. My favorite was the fritters and my husband loved the fried anchovy. We both liked the bread dish but felt like we didn't need to get it next time. We also tried the pa Amb tomaquet and mojama and marcona almonds (tuna loin). These were good together, but also not my favorite of the night. We ended with the bistec, salad, octopus and tortilla espanola. It was a filling and flavorful combination of food and from those I enjoyed the octopus the most! I think we paid ~$250 or so for all our courses and were definitely full by the end. Street parking only, parked at a meter on 5th street.

Today, I got to join the fun and enjoy a lovely dinner at Massillia! Surprised the relatives for their 5:30 reservation. I was supposed to stay for just a drink, but I was having such a great time, I had to crash the entire dinner! 5:30 on a Friday night was the perfect time. It was chill and quiet. The restaurant itself is super relaxing and had a nice ambiance. To start, I asked the waitress to bring me a fruity cocktail and what she handed me was delicious. I totally forgot to snag the name, but it was refreshing and yummy. For food, my aunts ordered EVERYTHING! we are a vegetable loving family and definitely got lots of yum yum that reflected that: ratatouille, salad, mushrooms, calamari, mashed potatoes, broccoli, salmon flatbread, and so much more. Everything was so flavorful! I really enjoyed every dish we got! If I had to choose some absolute favorites it would be the salad and the ratatouille! Both were incredible ( along with everything else). Finished the meal off with the pear dessert and a glass of port. Yummy! Great meal with family! I'll happily be back in Massilia to have another lovely dinner.

It swings from Vietnamese small plates to a straightforward steak, and the range never settles into a point of view -- it reads less like a confident eclectic kitchen than a grab bag. The fried red snapper was the standout: crisp, well-cooked, good enough to stand on its own. It came with a fish sauce for dipping that it didn't need -- a wedge of lemon on the side would have suited it far better. The Vietnamese crab cake was a real miss; I couldn't get past it. The dumplings were fine but forgettable. Service ran to extremes. Our server was warm and eager, almost too eager -- he pushed a bottle of wine we weren't sold on, and we ordered it anyway. Then, after all that attentiveness, he disappeared toward the end of the meal and never came back. The wine list was fine, nothing memorable. There's real skill in that kitchen -- the snapper proves it -- but the meal never added up to more than its parts. I left full, not delighted.

So let's start the very beginning. It's Santa Monica and parking does suck. I'm just gonna say that flat out. It's hard to find parking. There's no parking structure or valet that's near. It is pretty loud at this restaurant. However, the food is divine. My favorite thing was the royal oysters, I could eat a dozen! My second favorite would have to be the Japanese sweet potato flautas. We were a group before, and we sampled each other's dishes. So we had the flautas the roasted chicken and the pork shoulder. we also had the bluefin tuna ceviche with blood orange not my favorite, but not terrible either a little bit too sweet for my liking. We also had the honey ice cream. And I had the espresso martini which was delicious. Now I know the menu changes regarding the season, but overall, I would definitely return. I would've left--earplugs are necessary if you don't want to lose your hearing, it's truly that loud--if it weren't for our delightful server. She apologized, said our table is particularly bad given placement of the speakers. She said that she and her colleagues know how bad it is, they get lots of complaints and agree themselves. "But as the night wears on and managers drink more, they like a party atmosphere and so turn it up. My fellow servers and I will try to turn it down when they aren't looking." And to her credit, she did just that. A few minutes later, my table was able to talk and think and not lose our hearing again. I was poised to give Rustic Canyon a 5-start review until some presumably drunk manager turned it up again. Fortunately by that time, we were soon to leave anyway. We are ages 16, 29, 40, 53, 62, and 64. All of us agreed in the car that our ears can't go back until the sound level changes. Truly too bad. Because I really liked it otherwise.
