I don't know why I've never had scallops in saffron butter before, but it's such a perfect pairing that I feel foolish for never considering it before. The octopus was tender, perfectly seasoned with smoky but not spicy paprika, and exactly what my 4 year old son was hoping for (going out to dinner was his idea, actually). My wife insisted that the squash was the best squash dish she's ever had. Even the humble patatas bravas were excellent and better than many that we had while in Spain. My wife had a few glasses of wine and I was impressed that she was allowed to taste test a few types to figure out what she wanted. To me, that's a sure way to win a repeat customer; by making them feel welcome and appreciated. I was also impressed by the selection of NA drinks and had an NA beer and NA wine that were tasty. During our meal, the restaurant began to fill, but service remained consistent, efficient and friendly. By the time we were done, my son was bopping to the mellow but energetic music and my wife and I were contemplating more food. We ordered ham croquettes and the pan con tomate dish, which came out quickly and were gone in a flash. We rounded the meal out with a slice of Basque cheesecake that came with these delicious figs. On our ride home, we all lamented that our dinner at Xuntos was over. Twice in one day I witnessed two separate staff members go out of their way to help people in ways not required or expected of them. In the afternoon, one of the staff very subtly and respectfully gave a homeless woman who was clearly having a difficult time a pastry and a drink and later that same day, another staff member helped walk man in crutches up the street who wasn't even a customer. The entire staff here is kind, engaging and caring with all people regardless of their background.
