After reviewing many Mexican food restaurants in the area we decided to give Casarez a try. OMGoodness!!! Absolutely delicious! Fresh, flavorful, great service, fast and the small restaurant was clean. Should I come back to Houston via Houston Hobby with lay overs, I will definitely be back. My husband ordered the Grande dinner...enough for two people but we didn't know the size of the portions and I ordered the Casarez Special. Between the two dishes, we could have fed two more people. I have lived in this area since the end of 2001 and ate here for the first time tonight. I will most definitely be going back. I ate the Chicken Fajita for one meal and the food was so fresh. The chicken was tender as was the sausage, the guacamole was right up there with the best, as was the beans & rice!! The price was more than reasonable. The pico de gallo was superb! I can see why this place is always packed, and especially the line is very long for breakfast on the weekends! I highly recommend it!! I ordered my food to go, but the place was packed at 9:00 pm! From Sydney Australia, first time in Houston, not familiar with anything. Got the mix grill for one which was more than enough. Tried it for lunch, went because of YELP and the picture of the fried avocado on the site. (Apparently it is off menu ) Ended up getting the chicken burritos (which is huge!) so i could compare to what i always get at Taquria Del Sol. Got it with the caso on it, had refried beans and rice as side. I am not a huge rice fan, refried beans i thought were soso and i think the caso took away from the burrito. Food was delivered fast! The salsa tastes good but is chilled ( i am one who prefers warm/ hot). Service was excellent! Tea was also great as it actually had taste (was not watered down) and was in a large glass not a small one in need of refilling every 2 minutes. Overall i liked it but it did not take out Taquria Del Sol as my prefered spot for Mexican food in the Hobby area. Worth trying though not sure 5 stars are warranted. read more

I don't know if I should throw up to make more room or continue to eat. ... was a little skeptical pulling as there is a tarp in the side of the building not sure if it's there because they are fixing something or to block the sun. The food is exceptional. We have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here and the care taken in the kitchen to deliver tasty food is constant. The service is wonderful - friendly and there when you need another drink oe refill on coffee. We have had the pork chops, fried stuffed avocados, homemade chorizo, excellent green sauce, enchiladas, omelets -- all so good. I wanted to try a new restaurant, so I looked on Yelp and found this place. The reviews were overwhelmingly good, so I figured it was a good place to try. We were not disappointed. The server was attentive and friendly. The food was great and the portions were big. Neither my husband nor myself could finish it all and I am not a skinny person that doesn't eat much. Lol! The prices were very reasonable. We both had an entree and a soft drink and the ticket was only $24 and change and I had enough leftovers for lunch. Ok so based on reviews, maybe I was hoping for a little something more. Yet they did not disappoint. I ordered the crawfish etoufee enchiladas. It was surprisingly good, not delicious, yet good. The rice could use some simple improvement with comino, and a little salt and pepper. Service was nothing special, had two separate waitress, because the first only spoke in Spanish, which I am not proficient in. Yet they were still nice and understanding. Crawfish and shrimp overcrowded the plate which was amazing. Shrimp seemed butterflied and fresh yet the crawfish had a slight smell to it. Still the food was very appetizing and was a great place to explore. Not very many Cajun Mexican restaurant where I'm from. Overall for price and quality, definitely worth the try if you are in the area. Stick to Cajun Mexican on the menu. I started eatting at Casarez back in 2001 when they first open. Before they ever remolded.The food IS THE BEST better than ANY big name mexican food resturant. The prices can't be beat. It is VERY CLEAN. The staff is always friendly. I ate here for the first time last week. Bobby, the owner/chef, came to our table to introduce himself, which I found very refreshing and hospitable. I ordered fajitas, that's my test meal for mexican restaurants (and I liked the salsa, which is also a good sign). The portion was just right and everything was delicious. The prices were reasonable, but I wouldn't consider it cheap in comparison to other Mexican restaurants/hole in the wall joints in the area. YUM!! We found Casarez via Yelp as we were driving to IAH. Though we drove by it the first time, we circled back around. I was really interested in the mexican/cajun/creole description, as this sounded very authentic for Houston. We ordered the nachos first. We ordered chicken, but received steak, which was wonderful. I'm never seen such a big pile of guac on my nachos before. I ordered the crawfish quesadilla for my lunch, which was awesome! Such a fun combination of food genres.
