Had an amazing time at Cascada! I highly recommend them. The hotel and spa is amazing all around. Upon entering, I felt a relaxed vibe and fell in love with all of the various plants around. It felt serene. Their customer service was amazing. I found all the staff to be helpful and gentle. The food is good, but I didn't particularly care for cold fish - I would have preferred the fish to be warm and my salad to be cold (as it was). The thermal springs are amazing. It's a peaceful no cell phone area where you can relax and think. There are several pools in the springs are along with a steam room and sauna. The thermal springs area is also where the massages take place. Gallagher was amazing! He was very intuitive and gentle. I didn't want my massage to end. Gallagher was also very professional. The Secret Garden was a nice, outside social area. There's a hot tub, sauna, loungers, and a fire pit. Near the Secret Garden, but inside, there's a pool area with loungers. Upstairs from that, there are plenty of relaxing chairs and tables, and even another lounger area. I'm so geeked because I didn't realize this existed in Portland, practically in my back yard. Some helpful info: Water stations are all around and the cups are plastic free. If you have mobility issues, ask for a yellow wristband. It will give you elevator access. The lockers are small, so only bring what you need. Your brown wristband will lock and unlock your lockers. Plenty of showers everywhere with the best smelling body wash. I had to beg myself not to bring any home. The women's locker has a machine to spin the water out of your swimwear. The women's locker room also has deodorant, hair ties, feminine hygiene products, etc. Your time at Cascada will be what you make it. Enjoy! read more

It has sadly gone downhill since it opened. They added tons of extra seating and added more slots, and the space is no longer relaxing and peaceful. It's too crowded, and the silence bowl is ridiculous and jarring. I'd call it a social pool rather than a spa. read more

This is my first bad review, but I have to say: the customer service here is terrible. My husband reserved a room at Cascada for February 15th as a Valentine's Day surprise. Despite a 4pm check-in time, we were told at 3:45 that our room wasn't ready. We were asked to come back at 4 then again at 4:15, and again at 4:30. Meanwhile, we watched many other guests check in and get their rooms. It was frustrating because the spa was closing at 9pm and we wanted to make the most of our time, yet we were the only ones left waiting. Our room finally became ready around 4:40. While the property is beautiful and relaxing, I wouldn't go back. I wouldn't even be writing this review if the check-in was the only issue, but the situation after checkout was worse. On our way home, I noticed one of our bags was missing and realized the staff had failed to hand it back to us after holding it. I called the next day (February 16th) and spoke to Sarah at the front desk. She located the bag, but when I asked her to ship it, she told me she could only do so if I sent her a shipping label. I kindly explained that it was their mistake for not returning the bag to us. After putting me on hold to talk to her manager, she confirmed they would ship it and asked me to email her manager, our information. A couple of weeks passed with no response, so my husband called. Sarah asked him if he had sent the label yet, even though she had previously told me they would handle it. She then told him she'd get back to him, but another week passed with no word. I called again, and once more she asked me for a label. After I re-explained the situation, she said I'd get an update soon. A few days later, my husband finally got a text saying they would ship it. All of this took more than a month. We stayed there on February 15th and only got our belongings back on March 30th. For the high price we paid for this stay, we expected much better service. It was very disappointing because if I hadn't advocated for myself, they never would have sent our belongings back. read more

I cannot recommend Cascada enough! I personally think it is most perfectly enjoyed as a solo visitor. I have been twice now by myself, once to do a yoga class with a visit to the springs after, and once to visit the springs and get a massage. I also went a third time with my husband for a visit to the springs followed by a couples massage and felt a bit stifled by the required silence in the springs area. The social areas just don't have the same access to the variety of pools in the silent area, so to me the time is best spent downstairs, but going with others can be hard unless you're fully committing to spending the entire time either apart, or not speaking to one another. That all being said, I really do love spending time here. I was only a little disappointed during the one yoga class I took there; there were 2-3 different points during class where the instructor basically told us to do whatever poses we wanted to for a few minutes. If I'm paying $120 for a class and a spa day pass, I would prefer to attend a fully instructor-led yoga class. Otherwise, I can do that part at home and just hit the springs! The place is kept super clean, and feels very luxurious and relaxing. They have herbal tea and ice water available to drink while you're in the social or quiet areas. I do enjoy the quiet area (again, better enjoyed alone) and find the whole experience very serene. The masseuses I've seen have done a wonderful job, too. It's a bit pricy for treatments but worth it for a splurge every now and again ($180 for a solo massage, and $50 extra to tack on 75 minutes of thermal springs time). All in all, I love visiting Cascada every once in a while for a luxurious spa day. It would be a great place to show to out of town visitors for a really special, relaxing experience. read more

First off I have to say this is an ABSOLUTE MUST!!! If I could give this place 20 stars I would it's totally worth every penny and then some! Pros: they greet you with a towel and sandals and they also present you with a little card that details the different cycles! They tell you that you pretty much have 3 hours but let's be honest there's only 1 clock downstairs and who I checking the time!? Not me! lol let's just say they were not sticklers on the time and I appreciated that so much! The staff is super friendly and the building is sooooo nice!! You walk out of the beautiful spa bathroom into what feels like a a tropical rainforest from the temperature to all the beautiful plants! Ugh I loved it I felt like I was transported to an island in a matter of seconds! Then you grab a cup and some water or amazing hot tea! I loved the hot tea! The cups they have are so amazing too cause they aren't glass but this silicone that is amazing I wish I had some at home! Low key wish I bought 2 of them. Make sure you buy some lol. Cons: the only con I have is that we didnt stay here at the hotel! Next time we will be staying here! For $100 per person to just use the spa amenities it was worth it! If I could rate this 4.5 stars I would, but I'll round up with some suggestions. The experience was first class, very clean, and professional. There is a lot of space which provides for a lot of areas to move around to and spread out. Much bigger than some other similar places in Portland. I was impressed with the lack of it being crowded. It was very comfortable. The cabanas have signs limiting use to 30 minutes to help share the space around. The exterior space I liked a lot being that it was outside. On this rainy day it felt good to be in the 100 degree hot tub. I also liked the ability to visit with my wife and with others. The traditional sauna was here as well. It had a full glass wall that was mesmerizing to watch the rain. There is also an outdoor waterfall-like cold rain-shower. Downstairs is the quiet "sanctuary". This is where the bulk of the action is. No talking is allowed. It's creatively policed with a crystal gong that creates a hum as well with "silence" printed on the side. It's kept very quiet. There are four pools. A large Mineral pool at 90 degrees, an Ambient pool at 94, a Hot pool at 97 and a Cold Plunge at 55. They were all great. There is also a large steam room and a red-light sauna. Ice cube exfoliation is available too. I have two primary thoughts. 1. My personal preference is that there is too much space devoted to "silence". I would have liked to visit with my wife and perhaps some other guests. There is only one tub and one sauna above that allow talking in addition to the pool. This is obviously personal preference but for me it's too much silence space. My other recommendation is to figure out a way for guests to relax with full relaxation, particularly in the silent area where that's the only thing allowed. (No phones either). My idea is to have some weighted triangle wedges with Naugahyde or something similar on them that can go on the bench in the tub so that the guest can lean against the wall of the tub without sliding out down the bench. I'd love to have a cylindrical waterproof version too, to lean my head on at the edge too. Ultimately I want to relax 100% without having to constantly keep myself in position in the pools. (Hopefully that makes sense). Another way to accomplish this is more ergonomic seating, but that's hard to do after the fact. Bottom line, it's a great place and a great experience. read more

I had been DYING to go to Cascada since it'd opened so I could just disconnect and relax for a few hours without thinking about the neverending tasks in life; and thankfully, I was able to swing by with a couple of friends who were visitng Portland. We booked 2-3 weeks in advance and there were only 8:30 am or 6:00 pm slots left for the weekend -- 3 hour blocks. We grabbed 8:30 am on a Saturday since it felt like a good way to start the day and we already had some dinner plans for the evening. To start, parking can get crowded in this area (street parking only, no designated hotel or spa lot) so plan accordingly. We had to park a couple blocks away then walk over which wasn't too bad but not the best given the rain. The thermal springs check-in is on the 2nd floor and they have you sign a waiver/disclaimer and then give you wrist bands that work for the lockers as well as other doors in the area. The lower levels with various springs (warm, ambient, mineral, cold plunge) and steam/sauna are quiet areas and there is quite literally someone with a small gong that goes around once in a while to remind people to be silent with a ring. The main level has a pool, shared social spaces, and access to the outdoor hot tub, showers, fire pit, and sauna. We started out on the main level to yap away then spent some time downstairs; eventually wandered outside when the rain was not as bad. Upsides, definitely a variety of pool/springs/steam/sauna to relax in. Downsides, really rather crowded (somewhat expected on a Sat morning...but honestly wish they limited capacity a bit more strictly). We were also given towels when we went in and there are hooks everywhere to hang them, but robes are ONLY for hotel guests or people getting massages/treatments. This felt a bit odd with us just carting out towels around and not being able to access the robes. This is co-ed so you will run into a variety of people in all these spa settings so just an fyi. There are water and tea stations throughout as well. There is also an associated cafe in the hotel as well as the restaurant (Terra Mae) if you're looking to grab some food/coffee. Locker room was much more narrow/crowded than I'd anticipated and there was a queue for showers and people having to jigsaw around each other to grab clothes out of lockers and get dressed when we were heading out closer to 11:30 am. I did appreciate the swimsuit drying machine; convenient. All in all, this is a relaxing spot and I will likely return...though definitely going to try and time it for a random weekday time to avoid the crowds. read more

I am rounding down from what I think is more of a 3.5 experience. I have been to Cascada 3 times over the past year, all vastly different experiences. The inconsistency is really what is factoring into my rating. Sometimes it's a 3 star, sometimes it's a 4 star, but I'm going with the lowest rating as a warning to others to have the right expectations. Visit 1: Feb 2025, newly opened, Wednesday afternoon. Also had a massage. Visit 2: Christmas Day, afternoon, 3 hour spa access. Visit 3: Feb 2026, Sunday 9am, 3 hour pool access. Visit 1: 3 stars. 1 hour of pool time before the massage felt rushed, and I had the worst massage I have ever had. It was still ok, but the masseuse talked to me through 50% of it about my life story which was weird? Especially after coming from a 'no talking' space? Visit 2: 4 stars. Not overly crowded, could do what I wanted, but there was no ice in the ice bowl and the ice massage is one of my favorite things. Visit 3: entirely overcrowded. Most of the time there the dry sauna (both inside and outside), steam room, had hot pool had no room. The tepid mineral pool felt colder than the other two visits and I was unable to stay in it as long as normal. I will never go on a weekend again. Do I love the space and the pools? Yes. My best friend got this for my birthday and I was sooooo excited. I LOVE water! Also I'm disabled. I have a muscle disorder, I fall a lot and stairs can be hard. Needless to say I'm in a lot of pain. I came prepared and wore my swimsuit under my clothes so I wouldn't need to do too many crazy person acrobatics in the changing rooms and I was off! We left the changing room and the first thing I realize is we have to go down stairs. A lot of stairs. In flip flops. Wet stairs in flip flops. It took me 10 minutes to get down those stairs holding on to the hand rails for dear life. Once we got down to the outside jacuzzi I was able to climb in no problem and really enjoyed myself. But then my friend mentioned going down "stairs" to see the pools down there. It was a gift and I couldn't stay in one jacuzzi the whole time! But this time I asked an employee for an elevator because I hadn't seen a sign or heard anything at the check in desk about handicap access. We found two employees:a male and female and asked if there was an elevator. There is but they'd have to show me. So the male takes me (my friend says he'll meet me downstairs) and I go with the male employee, dripping wet on an adventure that I'm not told anything about. First we go through the lobby; dripping wet! In my bathing suit! I have a towel that I'm desperately trying to wrap around me in some semblance of high fashion but not getting anywhere unless the look I'm going for is drowned manatee chic! Then we go to the main elevators and get on, alone. Which is super awkward. I don't know this guy. After 1 minute but feels like 3 hours in the elevator of doom we get off and turn to go to the right. Which is where we then go through a bunch construction supplies. He was so embarrassed, I'm embarrassed, and still leaking water everywhere (although I've give up on trying to construct my towel into something that can walk the runway of fashion week) and finally re enter the room with the basement pools which is beautiful. We end up spending an hour in there and had so much fun. When done my friend asked if I wanted to take the elevator back up stairs and I said no. One we would have had to find someone to take me and two the embarrassment of falling was probably the same as the embarrassment of doing the elevator trek and explaining to the guy that I have a muscular disorder. It's so weird that they even have a ramp in the basement since they make it so un handicap friendly. I saw one area, where it was it was a bunch of loungers on a landing and the only way to get there was by stairs. It was a beautiful place to go, and if you aren't disabled I'd totally recommend it. But if you are, I'd steer away and check out common grounds or Everett house that's more catered to different types of clientele, not just the cookie cutter one size fits all. Also it made me super uncomfortable to be taken to those areas of the hotels by a man I didn't know in my bathing suit. He was completely polite and respectful but that doesn't mean every guy is and with my disorder I couldn't fight back. read more

This one of many places to soak in Portland. What makes this place special, well several things. $100 for 3 hours is very comparable to other places. That seemed like a lot of time to me but in reality there are plenty of options to keep yourself busy for that period of time. I loved that there wasn't an overbearing smell of chlorine. All the amenities are absolutely stunning. The sanctuary has to be my favorite space. They were very intentional about keeping this space silent and staff went around with a singing bowl and I even saw a staff member gently reminding people that it was a silent space. The outside space was such a nice come down after doing all the hot things indoors. The indoor pool was my favorite for doing some swimming. Such a calming and healing space. I'm glad I had the opportunity to go and I hope whoever reads this review also is inspired to go. This space is not clothing optional. read more

Wasabi salad, Otoro and Tonkats at Terra Mae were amazing. We enjoyed the coffee and pastries from the shop, spa was spectacular, staff was kind, cheerful and welcoming. We stayed in a 2 room suite by ourselves and it felt luxurious and spacious with a lot of thoughtful attention to detail. We've stayed at numerous Portland hotels over the years as Seattleites and this was the nicest in Portland we've stayed at. It felt like a destination hotel in a place with a lot of fun things to do. Cascada is a wonderful addition to Portland. What initially began as a hotel concept has turned into a full wellness experience that is open to visitors and locals alike. I spent a full day here over the July 4th weekend: breakfast at Alberta Street Cafe, a three-hour visit in the thermal springs plus a massage, and dinner at Terra Mae. I've reviewed the dining separately. The thermal springs, specifically, include (1) a room temperature pool in a solarium type space, (2) a new outdoor garden with sauna and fire pit and hot tub, and (3) a large underground space (no talking or photos allowed) with multiple differing temperature pools and saunas. Water and tea are provided. There are lockers with provided bracelets to lock, and the showers have nice smelling products. The entire space feels luxe and calm. It is fairly clean, though not perfectly, as that's a major challenge in spaces like this. A visit is currently $100 for three hours, which to me felt like more than enough time and overall a great value! read more

We stayed here to celebrate my birthday for 2 nights back in June. The location is great as it's in the Alberta arts district so you can walk to plenty of bars , restaurants and coffee shops. There is no designated parking for the hotel, but there is a lot close by or you have to park on the street. Love that they allow you to stay with your pups. The hotel room it self was nice, modern and new, but pretty small. There was air conditioner which is necessary. However, on a warm day in June it was still pretty warm even with the AC turned all the way down. We did go to the spa both days. The spa was nice and relaxing. A touch crowded at times. I got a massage which was alright. Next time I would likely pass on that. read more

I loved our experience at Cascada. The space is beautiful and tranquil. My favorite part was the outdoor sauna and cold rain shower. The space is beautifully designed and I recommend this spot to all of my friends who visit. As far as classes, my favorite was Kimmy's Yang-Yin yoga. This was one of the best classes I've taken during my 10 years of practice. They have so many wonderful offerings. Everything felt clean, well designed, and easy to enjoy. The spa was amazing. You have multiple from choose from the main one. That's in this picture. You go outside and there's a fire pit, a jacuzzi, and there's a sauna. They also have the quiet room, which is downstairs. It's very calming, and a little dark with caling music and it's nice. I think everyone should try this at least once. It is so fun. They are going to get my business again. I did go to the restaurant that they had there. I only got fries because I wanted to go have dinner somewhere else. The fries were overseasonned so seasoned. Not my cup of tea. I'm sure the other food is probably good there. I just haven't tried it. The drinks are good, though, and they're very pretty. What an amazing experience at Cascada Thermal Springs! I received a gift card and thought I would finally cash in and what a treat it was. My husband made reservations on line, a pretty easy process. The thermal springs are located in the Cascada hotel and from the minute you walk in you know that you're in for something special. It is understated, clean with a modern aesthetic; lots of greenery and everything that is appealing about the Pacific Northwest is felt in here. It has this casual elegance about it. Check in at the counter was seamless and we were given instructions and a card that outlined what we needed to get acclimated to the thermal springs. I entered the locker room, spacious and clean with attendants who cared. We started off in the lowest level called the Sanctuary, minimal lights, no talking and so many options. There is a mineral pool with a waterfall wall, ambient pool, hot pool, red light therapy sauna, steam room with ice exfoliation, cold plunge, seating, and complimentary water. I loved this! So serene, peaceful and meditative. As you go up one floor is the Conservatory which has a pool, daybed seating, chaise seating and lots of lush greenery. There are also some seating areas like a mini sun room with banquette seating throughout this space. There is a bar with complimentary water and tea and beverage offerings for purchase. The ginger tea was delicious btw! Our next spot was the Secret Garden - the outside area which offers a sauna, hot tub, cold shower and more landscaping. It was a typical rainy Portland day but sitting in the hot tub in the rain was joyous. We visited with others while we were in the hot tub and learned about what the hotel accommodations were like from out of towners staying at the hotel. I'd love to experience a staycation here - hotel, dinner at Terra Mae, a fitness class and spa services. I'll save that for another weekend lol! The staff was helpful and there were attendants everywhere. It was immaculately clean, and you can tell they take great pride in their work. We found street parking very easily. I made reservations here a few months ago and not a week goes by where I don't think about how relaxing it was. I felt like a million dollars after leaving here. I used all of the day spa amenities- pools and tubs: hot, warm, cool, cold. The sauna and steam room. I loved sitting by the fire too. It's a wonderful place and nicely decorated. It's so nice that something like this is available to the public to enjoy. It was so relaxing and refreshing to enjoy the facilities. My only negative experience is the first time I came, I forgot my suit. They have suits for sale but they were all so tiny and nothing fit me. Really disappointing visit. Like another reviewer said the space is gorgeous but overall this place is not run well. People were talking constantly and loudly in the sanctuary space that has signs about it being silent and when you check in you're also told. Large groups especially didn't seem to care. Supposedly someone comes around with a singing bowl that says "silence" on it when talking happens but for the first 2 hours that never happened until I confirmed with a staff person this was a silent space and then pointed out all the loud talking. Finally someone came once to do this, but people didn't seem to care and as soon as he left the talking commenced. Seems like people need more incentive and guidance on the rules. I came here for silent recuperation. There are towels, cups and sandals left everywhere. Not impressed. Called to get a refund after I left early because this place was such a bad experience and never heard back. Skip this spot. read more

Absolutely DREAMY! I've been to a handful of spas in the PNW and just wow, Cascada is a next level. First thing: aesthetics. Like come on, this place is insane. Located in the heart of the Alberta Arts district, the facility is a multi-level sanctuary with underground thermal springs, mineral pools, integrated rare plant life, and so much natural light. Booking was a breeze online. No hotel reservation necessary to access the spa. There are a few different options to choose from while booking. A 60 minute massage goes for $180, a 90 minute massage is $260 and you can add 75 minutes in the thermal springs for an additional $50. That seemed really steep while I was booking so I opted for 3 hours in the thermal springs for $100. Now that I've experienced it, I would not hesitate to book the massage at all. We booked 2 thermal spring appointments on Sunday at 7 AM. I cannot recommend the early reservation enough, there was hardly anyone in sight so early! We stopped by Alberta Coffee for a drink before we checked in. Check in was simple since everything was prepaid and filled out a head of time. I would say give yourself 15-ish minutes before your resy to get ready. They provide bracelets to access a locker for your personal items. They also provide towels and sandals. The pools have a great flow. The conservatory area is temp controlled and offers a social space with day pools and a warm pool. The sanctuary is located underground with a nice circuit to follow, in silence. Mineral pool, ambient pool, hot pool, cold plunge, sauna, ice exfoliation, and stream room. I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed Cascada yet. I've done everything but workout here, and I can't tell you how much I love this place. I'd live here if I could. During Summer, I enjoyed live music on Thursdays. They'd also have fresh made juices, which were the perfect start to a blissful experience. I've come just to float, but also for body treatments. I have a massage and float booked 10 days from now, and I'm anxiously awaiting that relaxation day. If you have a treatment booked, there's a 50% discount on floating, but it's for about 75 minutes before treatment. A solo float is for 90 minutes. The sanctuary is amazing, and totally my vibe. If you book a massage or facial, they have their own oils to choose from. I'll make note during my next massage, but I want to say my favorite was Ocean. I've had breakfast and lunch at the cafe, and dinner at Terra Mae (separate review). This is the best thing to happen to Portland in a long time. Truly. Don't miss it! read more

It's beautiful. It's clean. It's crowded but does have space to accommodate everyone in on a Saturday afternoon. I appreciate the beauty and care of Cascada. The staff was outstanding and every attention to detail was handled. I'll be back in hopefully a less busy day. I spent most of my 3 hours in the Sanctuary, the silent basement with an outstanding steam room and very cold plunge pool. The staff kept the silence by ringing a beautiful instrument and pointing out the "silence" signs when necessary. There's plenty of socializing space in the ground floor area, so don't despair. The main reason I can't give Cascada five stars is the marketing. It's not a thermal hot springs as far as I can discern. It's treated city water, but their marketing claims the pools: "emulate the healing properties and overall experience of natural hot springs." What?! "Portland's first underground thermal springs" is treated city water. Marketing it as hot mineral springs is just not accurate or honest. If I'm wrong in this fact, I'll recant, but the check in staff verified that it's Bull Run water from PDX's water supply. That's not a bad thing to use city water, but it's also not a hot spring. This is such a beautiful spa, I'm surprised Cascada decided they needed the marketing language they have on the website. Pity, actually. read more

I had a wonderful three night stay with a girlfriend at Cascada. I was coming from the east coast and her from the west, and we wanted to go somewhere that would allow us to relax away from our busy day-to-day lives and Cascada was the perfect answer. I love how the hotel and all of the products that they use here are sustainable and eco-friendly. *** The Hotel *** Every detail of this hotel and spa has been meticulously thought out with a consistent and clean, soothing aesthetic. Upon arriving, you are immediately calmed by the welcoming lobby adorned with charming greenery. There's a great coffee shop in the lobby (Alberta Coffee) that also sells delicious meals (both things that I tried - the salmon salad and the beef chimichurri bowl - were delicious) and also a high-end restaurant on-site (Terra Mae) that is outstanding. My friend and I were in a Sky Loft Suite which was spacious and well appointed. The bed is super comfortable and the linens (towels, bedding, pillows) are of extremely high quality. A robe and sandals are provided for use at the spa (you can trade them in at the spa if not the correct size). Every room has a kitchen, washer and dryer and includes everything that you need from dishwasher pods to laundry sheets to tea and a quiet and chic hot water kettle. The floor to ceiling curtains are controlled automatically via a panel, as are the lights throughout. A lovely touch is the automatic lights that go on when using the stairs or bathroom. It was nice having the bathroom on a different level than the bed since we were sharing the room. I usually worry about waking someone up when using the restroom at night, but that was not an issue here. The sofa also pulls out into a bed, but since it was just the two of us and the bed is huge and comfortable, we opted to share. Eye Masks (silk!) and ear plugs are provided. It is a "light touch" experience with respect to service, meaning that you won't be overcrowded with people try to help you, but there are definitely people to help you when you need/ask, the way that I prefer. WiFi is super fast (1 gig) and free. Prices for the rooms are more than reasonable given the high-end, luxury experience that this is and the Alberta Arts District is cute and charming. *** The Spa / Gym *** Rooms can be booked with or without access to the spa, and day passes are available for use of the spa by non-hotel guests. We opted for all access passes which we put to good use, using the sauna and thermal baths every day. There are fitness classes taught by some of the world's best instructors and separate large and well-equipped weight and cardio rooms. The weight room has Manduka mats, fitness bands and pretty much anything you'd need for your work out. The locker room is well-equipped with lockers, a quick dry machine for your swimsuit, and toiletries. Now for the crown jewel - the pool and spa. Just wow. You enter through the Conservatory, a large 82 degree pool surrounded by greenery in a beautiful and calming environment. Herbal tea and water is provided. Outside, there is a fire pit, hot tub, sauna, cold rain shower, and bar. Downstairs is the well-named Sanctuary. It is a silent, phone free space, and everyone abides by the rules. There is a second sauna (10 degrees cooler than the one outside) and mineral pools of varying temperatures as well as a cold bath. You must shower before entering any of the pools (there are showers next to the sauna) but I found that showering would lower my temperature too much to go right into the cold plunge. My routine was: sauna (15 minutes), hot pool (10 minutes), cold plunge (90 seconds) followed by either the mineral or ambient baths (15 minutes) but there are lots of combinations of what you can do and they some suggestions are posted on the wall outside. You could easily spend hours in here and it's a great thing to do solo, given that it is a silent experience, or with friends, as you can regroup upstairs / outside where it is not silent (but people are still respectful and keep conversations to a quiet level to maintain the ambiance and vibe). It's a very inclusive, comfortable space with no pressure. I have been to cold plunges where I feel pressure to stay in the bath for a certain amount of time, but here, everyone is respectful and does their own thing. There are all shapes, ages, and types of people. *** Overall I'm super jealous of everyone who lives in Portland since they can come to Cascada any time that they want. I'm really grateful to be a founding member of Cascada. Before anything else- the staff is fantastic! The nicest and most professional people I've ever encountered in a gym. Everyone is so welcoming and good at their jobs. Since I moved to Portland nearly 10 years ago, I've wanted a gym that has it all. Not because I need something boujee, but because I'm more motivated and less likely to make excuses when my gym has amenities that makes my life easier. I can show up and really just bring myself and my clothes. The equipment (mats, towels, blocks, balls, and everything else), towels, shampoo, soap, even the deodorant is already there. They even serve herbal tea in the conservatory. I can work out and head straight to work or wherever else I need to go. I don't need to lug much around or run home first. To my knowledge, this is the first and only luxury gym in NE Portland. Another perk for me personally is that I can walk to Cascada from my house. I was interested in the membership because of the gym, but the thermal springs has won me over. Since it is part of my membership, I've been taking advantage. Cascada is brand new and still has minor growing pains. It's not perfect yet, but I am confident that it will be. read more

This is one of my happy places. I took a leap of faith and joined as a founding member without visiting because the building was under construction. The location is perfect for me and the gym plus thermal springs made this a no brainer. The staff are all super friendly, humble and helpful. My only gripe is that you have to be a member to attend events and I always want to bring a guest. The events all look really fun though I have yet to attend. I also love the discounts members get for spa services. I recently had some body work and fell asleep. Rudy is awesome. read more

Really lovely visit to the Cascada spa and thermal springs this past weekend. I got this as a birthday present for my gf and it was an absolute hit. The space itself is absolutely gorgeous and you can tell that a ton of attention to detail was applied to the decor. Everything from the lobby space, locker rooms, and pools themselves were beautiful. Check-in was simple and they use a great wristband system to get around which makes things easy. The springs themselves are well laid out and have nice flow. There's 3 thermal springs, a steam room, and sauna to rotate through which can get a little busy on a Sunday afternoon but likely wouldn't be as bad in a less peak time. The ambiance in the lower area is tranquil and relaxing with low music and dimmed lights. Definitely more for 1-2's rather than large groups as the bottom area is meant to be a quiet zone with no talking. The upper pool is equally a wonderful and serene space. The day beds were all filled when we were there but we were able to use lounge chairs above. If I had any feedback it's that they could be a bit more strict with things on the lower level. Some folks were chattering and distracting from the environment. Also the system for setting your things down is a little haphazard. I think by having more specified drop-zones and reducing outside bags etc it would just make everything look a bit more tidy. Overall for $10 more than another local Portland spring this is hands down winner across the board. read more

Nice retreat in the city. There was an outdoor hot tub and sauna and even an outdoor shower, fire pits weren't on. Large pool is indoors and has a lot of lounge chairs surrounding it. The big pool was probably my least favorite as it felt like too many people. Favorite was basement pools. Especially loved the mineral pool, cold plunge and ambient warm pools and even a hot pool. I'm not a big sauna person but they have another one in the basement that gets really steamy with option to add ice. We will for sure return. Do note the basement is quiet and they do a good job of staff regularly reminding people to not talk downstairs. Great place for calm. read more

My husband and I travel extensively in search of the best hydrotherapy and spa experiences in the world, and Cascada's thermal spa ranks among the best we've found on the West Coast. The three-hour experience costs $100. Upon arrival, we received wristbands that provided access to the spa and lockers. Flip-flops, towels, and other amenities were also provided. Cleanliness and a relaxing atmosphere are top priorities for us. We appreciated that the spa emphasized showering before entering the pools, which is a standard not all spas uphold. The space is thoughtfully designed. Upstairs features a more social area with an indoor pool that feels partially open to the outside due to large open doors. Lounge chairs surround the pool, and many guests brought books to relax by the water. It truly felt like we were at a resort. The outdoor garden area includes a hot tub, cold shower, and sauna. The downstairs area is designated as a quiet zone. It includes a sauna, steam room, ice station, and several pools with varying temperatures. There are also showers, bathrooms, and a tea and water station. Phones are not allowed in this area, and we were glad to see guests respecting that rule. Although about 20 people were present while we were there, the space is large enough that it never felt overcrowded. Service was excellent. The showers were clean and stocked with quality hair products. After our spa time, we enjoyed drinks at the onsite coffee shop. We will definitely return the next time we're in Portland! read more

Truly an amazing space. They have thought of everything and are continuing to expand. If you ever need a day to relax I recommend spending it here. Aesthetically every room is beautiful, from the new open area, the top level pool, and the sanctuary downstairs. They have a number of different amenities, from the sauna, steam room, mineral pool, cold plunge, hot tub and more. I'm also always a little wary of public bathrooms, but this one was immaculate. Completely spotless. They use their own products in the showers which smell amazing. Locker system feels safe and secure. Honestly, I was somewhat intimidated by the price upfront but for what you are getting I think it is well worth it. 3 hours is a perfect amount of time to try out their recommended cycles ontop of free-ranging around at your leisure. read more

Leaving 4 stars because I didn't try the on site restaurant. This is a peaceful retreat right in the city. The rooms are so very modern, with induction cook tops and balconies with mountain views. The sanctuary is a place for reflection, meditation, and rest. The upper level is where the sun shines in, the cabanas are fist come first served, and there are private sunrooms for reading or spending time alone. Water and herbal teas are always available. Outdoors has a glass sauna, hot tub, waterfall shower, and fire pit. In the thermal portion of the sanctuary, no phones and no talking is allowed. Soft tunes are played in the background and a periodic soundbath to increase ambiance and encourage quietness. A sauna and a steam room, mineral pool with waterfall, cold plunge pool, hot tub, and ambient pools are all available for soaking. Unlimited access with stay at the hotel or $100 for 3 hours. One of the hottest spas(no pun intended) I've been to in Portland. From clean and beautiful locker rooms with amenities such as a shower with gentle individually temperature controlled showers and awesome smelling body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, bracelet locking lockers, and a spinner to dry your swimsuit. Now enter the conservatory with its wall-lined plants and end up overlooking the room temp swimming pool. Go down the stairs and have a dip, quiet chat or just read a book. Lay on a big oversized couch or chair and sip on herbal tea or water. Don't worry it's in a silicone cup so it won't shatter if you dropped it. Ready for the best part? Head downstairs to the basement but remember it's a quiet zone and no cell phones. Step into a dimly lit area with chill sounds playing I. The speakers. Hey, they have a suggestion routine to follow but it's only a suggestion. Enjoy the hot pool, the ambient pool, the cold plunge, or the lukewarm pool with the waterfall feature to completely relax you. Step into the steam sauna or the dry sauna to completely relax your experience. Don't forget to grab some ice cubes and rub them on your body after the steam sauna. Ahhh, feels so good. Hey, I don't take any pics of the place because I wanted to enjoy the place for what it offers. Plenty of other pics if you look on here. A little pricey so definitely a special treat but I guarantee you would forget it anytime soon. You can even follow it up with a massage if you want. Massage extra. The thing I like is the allotted time you get is more than enough and they aren't sticklers if you run over a little. Place is definitely very special. Very high end set up room. The spa was awesome as well the only reason for a 4/5 star review is because the steam room would barely get steamy at all and the sauna would not get any hotter than about 100 degrees. Beyond that everything was superb I just put a lot of weight in the quality of the steam room and sauna as those are the top reasons I stayed. If those things are not a big deal to you air as big as they are to myself you will for sure rank this spot 5/5 stars! read more

Came here for a friend's birthday. Very relaxing experience. Super clean locker rooms with everything you could need. The main level pool was not super warm. Lounging area. Tea available. The bottom floor is basically an oasis. They are super strict about you being quiet though. I don't think it helped our case that the first part we went to there was a staff member off duty who I think told on my friend who wasn't being quiet enough. And then when someone else was being loud, they came and talked to us. Made her birthday not the best experience. All the pools and sauna areas are great. Just be prepared to not be allowed to talk. I don't believe it's worth $100. Go to Kennedy school for $10 and you can talk. But if you really want the sauna experience then I guess this may be worth it. read more

My partner and I stayed here for our anniversary. The aesthetic is truly beautiful--modern, calming, and thoughtfully designed with eco-friendly touches and updated amenities. However, the overall experience didn't match the promise of the photos online. The mineral springs appear spacious and serene in the marketing images, but in reality the pools were extremely crowded. There were no open seats for over an hour, and we wandered around hoping for a spot with no luck. The Sanctuary underground pools were also inconsistently managed. I was hushed by an employee for quietly asking my partner to grab my robe, while the same staff member ignored a couple openly whispering, giggling, and canoodling in the waterfall area. Access to the pools is an additional $100 per person, which felt unreasonable given the crowding. The steam room was also out of service, and we heard from other guests that this is a frequent issue--so be sure to check ahead if that amenity matters to you. We stayed in the loft-style room. The stairs are steep and painted black, which makes navigating them at night tricky if you need the restroom. The A/C struggled to cool the space even on the lowest temperature setting. The pillows were flat and floppy, the bed was uncomfortably firm, and the shower took nearly four minutes to heat up--odd for a luxury property. Overall, we likely won't stay here again. For the price point and the branding, the experience felt average. It would make far more sense for Cascada to prioritize mineral pool access for overnight guests and limit day-use visitors to avoid overcrowding. We prefer Common Grounds Hot Springs over this spot any day. read more

We've had many great experiences here, and it continues to exceed expectations in so many ways. Currently, I'd rate it about 3.7 stars -- mainly due to the steam room and occasional overcrowding issues. Other than that, it's a solid 5+ stars across the board. What We Love: The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed, especially with the two-bedroom suite option. Having a washer/dryer, fridge, microwave, stove cooktop, and full kitchenware setup makes it feel like a home away from home. The design is modern, minimalistic, and elegant, and I really appreciate the little touches like robes, slippers, eye masks, ear plugs, noise machine, health-conscious snacks and drinks, and games for purchase (playing cards & Yatzy). The unlimited spa access for hotel guests is another great perk, and Terra Mae--the on-site restaurant--is absolutely beautiful with delicious food. The coffee shop in the lobby is so neat and also a great addition, offering healthy, high-quality options. The hotel's location is perfect too, quiet yet lively artsy neighborhood surrounded by shops and restaurants within walking distance. Where It Falls Short: Unfortunately, our experience hasn't always been consistent. The main disappointment has been the steam room--it's been out of service during about half of our visits. This is one of the main reasons we stay here, so it's disheartening that it's frequently unavailable. Even smaller facilities seem to maintain theirs without issue, so it's confusing why this high-end spa struggles with reliability in such a key feature. Another challenge has been overcrowding. Each visit seems to get busier, which takes away from the peaceful, rejuvenating experience the spa is meant to offer. It makes it hard to move comfortably through the spa and difficult to enjoy the spa amenities peacefully. There have been times when we couldn't even find an open seat in the pools or saunas. It would be great if guest capacity were better managed, or if overnight hotel guests with unlimited access were given priority. We've visited many times and it's unfortunate to see the experience feel more diluted with each visit. Another thoughtful option could be to designate specific hours exclusively for hotel guests to enjoy the spa, which would help alleviate the overcrowding issue. This could enhance the sense of tranquility and ensure hotel guests can experience the spa as it's truly intended -- peaceful and rejuvenating. The pillows and beds tend to be overly firm, with only a few softer pillow options mixed in. A more consistent, plush setup would make a big difference -- especially at this price point. Additionally, the fitness center could benefit from 24-hour access. Many lower-tier hotels offer this convenience, and it would really enhance the experience for guests who prefer late-night or early-morning workouts. Other Feedback: I absolutely love the signature Cascada scent used in the hair wash and hand soap--it's refreshing and luxurious. However, the hemp lotion feels underwhelming in comparison, lacking both fragrance and impact. It would be such a treat if the lotion carried that same signature scent to round out the experience. Also, it might be helpful to include brief instructions in the rooms for operating the main lighting panel in the living area, the invisible induction cooktop, and the dishwasher. Not everyone is familiar with that style of cooktop and the lighting switch/panel and dishwasher can be quite confusing to operate as well. Other Notes: There is currently no on-site parking, as the underground garage is still under construction. There are only a few complimentary parking spots available directly in front of the hotel, and they fill up quickly. Otherwise, guests will need to use the paid parking lot located across the street. Additionally, the brunch and lunch restaurant area is still under development, so there are no on-site early meal or room service options available at this time. Although there are plenty of great eateries within a short walking distance, DoorDash has also been a super convenient option. Final Thoughts: We keep coming back because we know how special this place can be. It's a beautiful, relaxing property that delivers an incredible experience when everything aligns. While the inconsistency and occasional overcrowding can take away from the experience, it's nonetheless a place we'd still recommend for a wonderful spa experience, the ambiance, and the overall atmosphere. Offering special spa hours reserved exclusively for hotel guests could help create a more peaceful, relaxing environment and resolve much of the crowding issue. With a few operational improvements, better amenity reliability, and more attention to guest comfort, this hotel could easily become a solid five-star experience again. read more

I've visited twice and had two somewhat different experiences. My first visit was wonderful -- a three-hour soak not long after the spa opened. The ambiance was beautiful, and the number of guests felt comfortably active without being crowded. It was very relaxing and thoughtfully designed. My second visit was an overnight stay with my adult daughter to celebrate her 40th birthday. The hotel was lovely, and it was special to be able to step out and enjoy the soaking pools a few times during our stay. The only challenge was that the weekend crowds combined with the spa's popularity made the soaking areas feel quite full, and at times it was difficult to find space in the pools or sauna. It seems like the experience might benefit from some thoughtful capacity balancing during peak times so guests can fully enjoy the spaces. That said, the setting is beautiful and the overall concept is wonderful. I'm planning to return on a weekday, when I imagine the experience may feel closer to that first visit. read more

Review of spa only - 100/10. Can't wait to return - scheduled my next visit shortly after leaving. Things to know - they provide everything you could need - towels and sandals, toiletries, there are cups for tea and water, lockers. Essentially, bring your bathing suit and you need little else. You might see 2.5 hours or 3 hours listed - you're intended to have 2+ hours to enjoy the spa, plus time in the locker room after to get cleaned up, so that's why you might see the different times. This is PLENTY of time. I was such a noodle near the end of my visit that I couldn't get back into another pool and was just resting on a chaise until my friend was ready to get dressed. The locker rooms are upstairs, you go down one level to the social pool. I was worried this room would be cold - nope, it's plenty warm and comfortable and the pool here is a warm soaking pool. There are skylites above and windows so if the sun is shining, you get to enjoy that. Enjoyed chatting and catching up here with my friends - you're encouraged to keep your voices low and during our visit, everyone did. Hot tea is available on this level and it was delicious. On the lower level below that one are the sauna, steam room, hot tub, ambient pool, cold plunge and mineral pool. On the way in there is a sign suggesting a couple circuit options. My friends missed that and wished they'd noticed it. I didn't need to do a special circuit as soaking in any of the pools was just a delight. This area is recommended silence and is very quiet and dimly lit. Such a balm. It's not entirely silent so if you need to whisper something, it seems fine, but I also highly recommend you try to enjoy the silence because there are so few places that are so calming for the nervous system. There are separate towels available inside the sauna for your use in the sauna as well. Again, they've thought out all of your needs. I look forward to my next visit. read more
