The doctor was good, but the billing process is full of lies. If you conduct a visit for a online through the health lens platform they bill you immediately for $75-$100. What they don't tell you is they secretly go and bill your insurance for more and if your insurance rejects you still owe them hundreds of dollars. Their excuse it was some where in the patient agreement. The true cost of these visits is $200+ if you have a high deductible plan. This is a very manipulative billing practice and should be made clear directly on the website payment screen PRIOR TO appointment scheduling. read more

The receptionist is an angry girl. There were 2 of us that were told to show up for our appointment at 7:45. I walked through the door at 7:48 and she told me that they didn't open until 7:50 and then made me step outside as she locked the doors and another wanted to go in because it was cold and I told her the young Hispanic woman, would not let us in until 7:50. with so many options of places to go get your eyes checked this will not be one I will be going back until they train their front desk people how to be kind. read more

Brought my daughter here for the skin side, she has acne. Provider seems nice enough. They are supposed to send in prescriptions, they recommended a mail order, told me to call to get it going. I did and they said they never received it. They indicated probably sent but they took my info and insurance and said they would call me back and this was over a week ago. My regular pharmacy did not receive the other scripts either I had to call the office to have resent. read more

They also didn't have any contact lenses in their clinic for me to try on. I've actually never experienced this before at an eye doctor. Their customer service line takes forever too... I was there for a full body skin scan. Check in at the front was outstanding. They were quite busy but the wait wasn't long. The lady (I wish I remembered her name, at station#1) that did the check was delightful. She was so pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. She was also efficient but not letting the moderate line of people affect her personality and thoroughness. Due to scheduling limits I saw a different PA-C today. I saw Kari Walen today and she was great. Although I was always very happy with my previous PA-C, I was happy with today's visit equally as well. Kari is extremely polite and considerate, she also has a great sense of humor to lighten the mood. With the obvious reluctance to change PA-Cs, I couldn't be happier with todays visit. A skin scan can cause a bit of anxiousness but the atmosphere at Cascade makes it much easier to deal with. I highly recommend Cascade E & S and Kari. read more

My toddler grabbed my glasses this weekend so I need them straightened. They are closed Mondays but their posted hours on Tuesdays are 8am-5pm. It's 2:30pm on Tuesday and nobody is there. I don't understand how people run a business this way! My whole extended family used to go here but now receiving service from Cascade is a running joke between my in-laws and I. The morning before the appointment the office called and cancelled, and then offered me a new appointment 2 more months in the future. First, the doctors are top-notch. But if you are unable to reach a live person, it's pointless. My mom needs an eye surgery. They waited a month to contact her, she needs me to take her so I need to make her appointment for her. After staying on hold for nearly 40, yes 40, minutes, the person I was speaking to wan not sure how to schedule it. We made a tentative appointment and she said she would call me right back. It's been weeks. I have spent three separate times waiting in excess of 20 minutes to speak to someone regarding this. I have left another message for them to call me not my mother. I find this customer service ridiculous when every other office that I had to call medically, manage to answer the phone. You can only use the Covid excuse for so long. It my experience pre-Covid that they had poor phone support. Come on Cascade! You're better than this. Do the doctors know what the patient experience really is? I'm thinking about finding another place for my mom to go. read more

The worst appointment scheduling system. I called their centralized number 253-848-3000 twice on 3/26/2021, the first I waited 20 mins no one answered and the second a good 38 mins. Once someone answered, after the long wait, I was told I am sorry for the wait and only to be disappointed even more that next available appointment to see a dermatologist is in June. If you are into listening to commercials and advertisements, call the number above. Seems like the priority is more marketing about what their clinics offer versus customer service. Sad.. read more

Drove 2 hours (I live in Cle Elum) for them to tell me my appointment was cancelled with no explanation or notification. This is the 3rd scheduling snafu made on their end with me and by reading other reviews it seems I'm not alone. Won't be back. I have ordered a pair of lenses three weeks ago at Cascade Eye And Skin Center in Auburn WA. Last Thursday I stopped by the office and was told that I will not be able to get my lenses until 08/22, because optometrist is on vacation. The office manager told me that she cannot give me my lenses, because she is "not authorized". Really? The office manager is not authorized to open the drawer to give me my lenses? I work it tooling industry and I deal with precision measurements during my day. My old pair of glasses doesn't work for me anymore. So, now I am at risk of losing my job, because Cascade manager's incompetence. Why Cascade did not hire qualified manager with degree in medical field? Why they did not hire a substitute, while their optometrist is on vacation? Seems like HR performs poorly there. read more

My first and last experience: Just to make an appointment is very inconvenient. Can't get through on the phone and the recording strongly suggests using the online scheduling option on their website. Response time is at least 12 hours and the chat representatives will only answer whatever question you ask, so if you have another question, it takes another 12 hours to hear back from anyone. Finally got an appointment for a full-body skin exam. The ARNP who did the exam seemed very rushed and didn't explain options to me. When I inquired about dark spot removal. She said I can talk to aesthetician, then left the room. I was under the impression that she was getting the aesthetician to come talk to me about options. Instead, the nurse's assistant came in and was surprised I was still in my gown. When I said I was waiting for the aesthetician, she said that she is located at a desk in the lobby, then the assistant handed me a Ziplock bag with various small lotions and a couple of brochures, with zero explanation as to what they were for and left the room! I put my clothes on and went out to the lobby to talk with the aesthetician. She just finished talking to another patient and when it was my turn, she offered to make me an appointment, yet nobody else was around and she wasn't doing anything else, so I was confused why she couldn't talk to me right then and there. I made an appointment, but later, after I got home, I decided to do some research and lo and behold, there are many other patients/customers who have written negative reviews for the location in Auburn and all of the other Cascade Eye and Skin Center locations. The only reason I came here for my exam was because my doctor referred them. I will find someplace else to get the type of care I expect and a place that is worth spending my hard-earned money at. read more

They have become one of those clinics where you have an appointment at 3:10, you wait till 4 to be brought back to a room and it's another 20 mins before you actually see a Dr. If they don't respect my time I don't need to go there. Here again for a follow up. My appointment was at 10 , it's 11 and I have still not seen my doctor. This is only to check a surgical site which should only take a minute to look at. I was referred here by my primary care physician to get, what I thought was, a minuscule skin tag on my upper lip removed. After waiting weeks to even get an appointment, I waited around 40 min past my appointment time (that I showed up early for) to be seen. I was informed that it was actually a tiny wart rather than a skin tag, and they would simply have to freeze it off. I was helped by the doctor for maybe 10 minutes maximum and was told to schedule a follow-up appointment in case a second freezing was needed. The wart was completely gone by the time of my second appointment, in which the doctor simply looked at it and told me I did not need any further treatment and was sent on my way. I consulted with the front desk to inquire about whether or not I was going to be charged for the appointment, in which I received 2 minutes of attention and no medical treatment, and I was assured I would not be charged (but yet, I was!!!). I then received bills, that totaled almost $700 to remove a wart that I could have gotten over-the-counter medicine for and saved probably $685. I am single and working 7 days a week to make ends meet as it is. I called the front desk to explain the situation and attempt to get my bills reduced, but I was informed that this was not possible. The receptionist was not kind or helpful. I will be reaching out to both my primary care physician to no longer refer patients to this office, and will be contacting my insurance to see if maybe they could be of more help. read more

New patient that had a great experience, so I had to write a review. I was scared to go to this place but my skin problems got so out of control that I was desperate. Yes, they were scheduling out months (plural) in advance but I'd imagine it was like that everywhere. Also, I will say I'm more limited with my insurance provider so I didn't have a huge selection. All of the reviews I read for every dermatologist in this area were negative so I figured I had nothing to lose. Perhaps there are just a lot of complainers on here. Who knows. So I did have to call several times to check and see if they had any cancellations. I did not do this daily (sometimes I would forget) but my persistence paid off. I was willing to drive to their Auburn location (or to the end of the earth at this point) if that meant I would be seen sooner. Anyway, I had a great experience. The lady that checked me in was very friendly. I did have to wait about fifteen minutes past my appointment time to get called back (other people that had later appointments were called back before me), but I didn't mind. I figured it just meant that the doctor I was seeing was thorough (I was right). The lady that took me back was nice enough and Dr. Townsend came in shortly (within a few minutes) after she left the room. Dr. Townsend was very friendly and addressed all of my concerns. I didn't feel rushed and she addressed two issues (one main issue and a curious question about another). Her, her MA(?), and I started talking about traffic, which led to our discovery that Dr. Townsend and I aren't originally from here, and had pleasant conversation. It put me at ease and I was SO glad that everyone here was nice to me. It's difficult to find a doctor's office where this is the case. I think this place has a bad rep and I don't see why. Perhaps the older patients and others that are satisfied don't Yelp or go online to write reviews. I am the type to notice everything and both receptionists seemed nice and professional. The restroom was pretty clean and Dr. Townsend sent me home with a goodie bag filled with samples. I learned more about my skin problems and how to manage them. It was a seamless appointment and I'm a happy camper (other than my hereditary skin condition -- thanks, Mom!). Now that I'm established it won't be as difficult to get my next appointment. I have had several appointments at this clinic and usually I am assigned to a PA and not an actual Medical Doctor. I have been dealing with an all-over skin rash for more than a year. At my last appointment, I was told to use the previously prescribed steroid creams and lotions and to use more of them. I also had a skin check and nothing was found. No biopsies were performed. I then went to Pace Dermatology in Tacoma and they immediately did a biopsy of the rash, which was found to be Lichen Planus and then discovered a lesion on my shoulder which was biopsied and found to be a basal cell lesion, which they removed. The PA at Cascade did not even notice it. read more

I will give it 2 stars because Dr. Dang was really nice. But use caution using this practice for the reasoning below. Be careful with this place. Shady. They just charged me for a follow-up visit (which is suppose to be included in the procedure.) When I asked the question "is their a co-pay" the day of the visit I was told no. Then all the sudden I get a bill in the mail. When I called the billing agent, she stated because they treated the patient again they were going to bill me again. After they neglected to provide full treatment the first round. No disclosure of this until a month later when receiving the bill. Seems sketchy. Not very punctual either. We were their well in advance for the appointment. Another patient shows up later for their appointment and they squeeze him in front of me. Which delays my kids appointment for almost 1 hr. read more

I've had hit and miss experiences here, but today was the kicker. Checked in 10 minutes before my appointment. Watched a few people who checked in after me get called back, didn't think too much of it. Finally after waiting 35 minutes past my appointment time, I went back to the desk. Asked to make sure I was checked in correctly. Receptionist said yes I was and that she would "run back and see what the delay was." She then proceeded to take more clients at the desk, even though there were two other women available. After another 10 minutes, she told me "they'll be calling you next." I waited another 20 minutes and said forget it. Left an hour after my appointment time without ever being called back. I am a bedside RN, I understand patient care and how easy it is to get behind. Just tell me that you messed up and I'm ok. But I watched every person waiting get called, many of whom came well after me. I like my provider, Kieu Dang, but I won't be going back. read more

Came here around September 2017 and picked up my hard contact lens, which I had to pay about $450 for ($225 per lens). Fast forward to now when my son broke one of them so I went to reorder the EXACT same brand from Lens.com and literally they only cost $34.95 per lens. So I don't know why they are charging so much for theirs. I had no problem with the doctors or anything at the office but if you have to get contacts DO NOT order them through them or else you will get severely ripped off. read more

I can't speak for the actual doctor and staff because I didn't even get through to my appointment. At the beginning of August, I made an appointment for the last week of August. Two weeks prior to my appointment, I received a notice that the doctor I was scheduled to see had a surgery scheduled during my appointment. When I called to reschedule, they had NOTHING available until the end of October. I'm down to only one contact and a pair of outdated glasses. When I explained that, I received an empty "there's nothing we can do, sorry". For their scheduling mistake, I would expect them to do a lot more to accommodate me. I can't walk around with one contact in my eye for the next two months. Very poor customer service. read more

I have been going to Cascade for over 20 years for filler with successful outcomes. The Dr. who did a great job retired. Dr Wenner was suggested as a new provider. I bought 2 syringes of filler for the 1st time and was disappointed to say the least. The second syringe was put in places on my face where it was not needed. I had the same lines in my face at the end of the appointment as I went in with. It was painful and left me with big bruises for 2 weeks. Dr. Wenner apparently thinks she can do no wrong. When I questioned her about it I was told SHE thought I looked good enough and I was a trouble maker and don't come back. This woman is about money not the patient. read more

Usually we use the Cascade Eye/Skin in Puyallup and the dermatologists there are great but it's always so busy! This time I was coming from work so I chose the Auburn office. Wow! My appt time was 1:20 & since it was my first time at that office I was to arrive at 1:05. It's a much smaller office than Puyallup and you didn't need the pager system they have in Puyallup. I must have gone back to the room early because I was done with my entire visit by 1:29! It was a thorough exam, the super nice doctor explained things well, and she answered my questions. I am in my first month of trying contacts, I was having a tough time getting one out. My eye was getting very angry, I called the clinic and said to come on in. I got there and I was told that my provider was in Puyallup and I needed to go there or I could go to urgent care. Auburn to puyallup at 3 in the afternoon is ridiculous, and urgent care beacuse I need help with my contact. My ophthalmologist wont help me with my contact go to urgent care!!!!! I went to Vision Express in Federal Way, I explained to receptionist, she took me over to a chair looked in my eye and told me it was already out. Out in five min. never asked if I even had insurance. So know you will be turned away if your provider is not there, all about the $$$. read more

The doctor came in and said, "this is how we do things around here and you don't have to be here if you don't want to" I took it as an invitation to leave and I left. I did ask for refund of my copay and I got it. The doctor was a man. This was my very first visit to Cascade Eye and Skin Centers. I was there because I had developed cataracts. I made it abundantly clear that I was there for my cataracts, NOT contact lens or glasses. The assistant/nurse came in and wanted to fit me with new eye glasses or contact lens. I told her that I already had another eye doctor give me brand new contact lens with new prescription about 6 months ago. Within a month, I could not see very well out of my right eye. I went back and the eye doctor said I have started to develop cataracts. He did exam again and adjusted prescription on my right eye and gave me brand new set of contact lens for my right eye. It helped for a month or so but my right eye really got foggy so changing prescription did not help. So, I told the assistant/nurse that I don't mind new contact lens or glasses IF that will somehow magically clear up my cataracts...otherwise, I do not need another contact lens or glasses. She left the exam room and came back in and she wanted to proceed with my eye exam for new glasses or contact lens. Again, I told her I don't need one. I told her that I need help with my cataracts. She left the room again and this time, a male doctor came in. I explained the whole situation again to him. He sat down and got very close to me with stern face, and he said, "this is how we do things around here and you don't have to be here if you don't want to" So, I got up and left. I don't deserve to be treated that way. I was there because I needed help. He is an expert. I don't understand anything about my eyes. I really was looking for the doctor's explanation for the need for "new exam/new glass/new contacts". I would have been fine with new eye exam/new glasses/new contact lens if he had said anything like: 1) we need to do this so that we can measure before and after. 2) this is required by law 3) this is recommended protocol for cataract 4) this might give us more options to look at 5) you may have to use glasses/contacts little longer before the surgery... 6) do you want us to get the records of your eye exam from the other doctor? 7) we are just doing the exam to see....we will not give you new glasses if you don't need one. 8) This exam Is part of cataract exam. This way, we know how bad/good your eye sight is... 9) We need to do the eye exam because we need the most current condition.... etc, etc. etc. I would have gladly hopped on one leg with my arms raised if the male doctor at Cascade eye clinic simply explained to me why that is necessary. Instead I got, "you don't have to be here if you don't want to"....something like that. I am paraphrasing it. So, end result is that there will be delay in me taking care of my cataracts. Cascade Eye and Skin clinic lost a customer. I live only few minutes from the clinic. I am sure the male doctor was very competent and good at what he does. I wish he approached me more personable manner....with a smile. Maybe he was in a bad mood. I also wish I made my wish/intention more clear....I wish I conveyed more clearly that I am simply trying to understand what we are doing...not trying to be difficult or challenge his expert authority. Instead, I ended up wasting time writing this review and making another eye appointment at another medical facility. By the way, this is my first ever review on Yelp. I received an email the next day saying my prescription was not valid. SO happy I was able to find a clinic that helped me and resolved my ongoing issues because let me tell you Cascade Eye & Skin Centers definitely did not. This is the WORST clinic I have ever gone into and worked with. The past several years I've gone in and received the same prescription for the same issue even though I informed different doctors it was not working and SURPRISE nothing changed. But to top it all off I then receive a bill over $200 for each visit even though they did NOTHING for me. Now they sent my account to collections after sending my statements to the wrong address for months after providing my current address multiple times. Let me tell you the SKIN center is not worth the wait - WHAT A JOKE. I have never experienced such poor patient care and will NOT be stepping foot in the clinic again.
