When my nail technician completed my manicure, she announced, "same!" as if she declared out-loud my powdered pearlescent nails are now magically transformed into the requested nude chrome color. I wish they would've told me upfront that this cannot be done. I would not request for anything out of the basic mani pedi here.

Found this place on a Groupon, offering a couples everything basically for an extremely aggressive price. We were hesitant, thinking there was no way we would get so much for such a low amount, but we had a romantic staycation and figured we'd give it a try. Park on the street behind the building. It says they offer free parking but I couldn't actually figure out which lot was theirs. Thankfully there was plenty of street spots. At first entrance, the manager was very nice and hospitable. It is well decorated with cool Asian art and it smells so nice and has soothing music. Once inside we were taken by a man and a woman to a two massage table room and told to change into our robes. We weren't sure if it was massage first so we waited for them to come back and lead us to the steam room. I loved the steam room! The two of us could be in there together and there was a relaxing eucalyptus spray. They brought us ice cold water while inside and we got to sit in there, sweating out toxins and stretching for approximately 20 minutes. Next we were lead to different beds, that were closer to the ground, where we got all of the following: 10 minute foot massage (ouch! Oh it hurts so good!) Additional time spent on legs, shins, calves and ankles with special attention to my Achilles! 10 - 15 minute head and face massage (why had I never had this before?) Aloe vera or something nice face mask Tea for 10 minutes to sit and relax It was really nice and I kept thinking oh no, that's all we are getting....but no..... Then we returned to our private room together again, where we received close to an hour full body massage. And these people did not go easy. It hurt, don't get me wrong, nothing like having someone's elbows dig into your back but he worked out my back, neck and back of shoulders so much I was in awe. I wish they'd have done more on the quadriceps but it was okay because I was jello. Leaving, we tipped one person together for both. We probably should have specified that it was for both of them because then the other guy came looking for a tip but I think they figured it out in the end. It's hard with a couples thing because the BF was paying and he was in charge of the money, not me. The next day I released a tremendous amount of water from my body. I realized that my muscles are extremely overworked and they needed the TLC very bad. Next time I see that place on Groupon again, I will absolutely call and book. This is our second time visiting this spa and again, we had the most wonderful experience! I cannot reiterate how awesome this place is! First, let me explain the whole visual experience of this place. When you first walk in, you are greeted with a friendly smile by the lady at the front desk. Next you see that the decorator took their time to curate all the unique antiques that are on display. To think they took that much time to create this atmosphere says a lot about the owner of this spa! They obviously wanted to create a special experience for their customers! It reminds me of a museum! Anyway, My two daughters and I were trying to decide what to do for our girls day! We decided to all get massages since we had such a good experience last time at this place. When we arrived, our masseuses were already waiting for us and we went right in. We opted for the full body massage. They placed us in the same room so we could make small talk while we received our massages. I asked my masseuse to go gentle on me because I like the soft touch and he asked me several times if he was applying too much or enough pressure until it was the right amount. He took the time to adjust himself which I appreciated so much. The room smelled so nice and I felt calm and relaxed the whole time, which is hard to do because I'm a high strung person! Haha. After our massages, we asked if we could take a peek into the other rooms because I had a feeling they were going to be just as beautiful as the room we were in and the lady at the front desk took us around to the rooms that were not being used and showed us. Wow, they were magnificent! The paintings on the walls were stunning! I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed our spa day! We have introduced this place to several of our friends and they all loved it so much. My friends and I are planning a huge girls spa day next month! All 5 of us! I cannot wait! My friends and I decided to try out this spot and opted for the Harmony of Bliss Package. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a serene and beautiful atmosphere, setting the stage for a day of relaxation. As we began our services, we were instructed to disrobe, leaving only our towels on, which initially caught me off guard as the website indicated bathing suits were required for the jacuzzi. We were then led to a sauna and treated to champagne, which was a nice touch. However, upon returning to the jacuzzi, we were given cold water to drink, signaling that bathing suits were unnecessary. Transitioning from the sauna to the jacuzzi proved overwhelming due to the intense heat on our bodies, prompting us to cut our time short. Additionally, noticing a sign indicating the jacuzzi's filter was overdue by three days further deterred us from lingering. Following the jacuzzi, we enjoyed our one-hour massages, during which I was particularly impressed by the skill of my masseuse. The final part of our visit involved a foot soak, scrub, and facial, though unfortunately, the workers attending to us conversed throughout, detracting from the experience. Despite our package stating the option to choose between a steam sauna or a Himalayan salt sauna, we were not given the choice and would have preferred the latter. Furthermore, we did not receive the healing beads bracelet that was supposed to accompany the package. In terms of facilities, the locker room was small and cramped, especially when sharing with another group. Although efforts were made to avoid multiple groups being together, it was not always feasible. Parking was also challenging, with only four free spots available. We ended up paying for parking behind the building, which cost $12 for three hours. Overall, I am unlikely to return to this establishment. The services felt overpriced, and my friends and I agreed that Yu Spa in Kearny Mesa offered a cleaner and more spacious environment. read more

Back today again, I want another massage today so we headed back here. We got the couples package with one hour massage and half hour foot with some kinda detox, we both enjoyed this massage I got Daisy, (Jennifer was booked) and she was very good and the other was Alice which was great too as I was told. Daisy was polite and smiley took us back to a couples room. If you have not been here the decor is amazing. The massage was fantastic, deep pressure where I needed and a softer touch where it was more sore. We had the best 90 minute massage and a detox after. As always I found my place to go and a choice (Daisy or Jennifer) both are great, and might try Alice next time. Here's the older reviews Add on to my review, we back again today and had another great experience, the woman in the front said they had a new therapist I was a bit hesitant to take a newbie, but they were busy so I went ahead with it. I tell you one thing I asked for strong deep tissue and that's exactly what I got. W was very impressed by the new therapist her name was Jennifer and I will be asking for her next time. I am so thankful for a place like this. I was out in Hillcrest had a drink and was about to head home when I saw this Place. A M A Z I N G! The décor in this place is well as I said amazing but not just that, I walked in and was thinking about coming another day, I was greeted by the guy in the front, he was very nice, told me about all their offers and asked if I wanted to take a look at the place. The place is filled with Chi and Zen, Very clean, Beautiful meditation Music radiates thru the place, with Hugh I mean Hugh Waterfalls in the hallway, I was Like WOW. So you get this waterfall ambiance in the back round with your massage. Been to a few other places and they seem to be more about getting you in and out as fast as they can and not caring about your experience but more about your money. I was showed the back where they have a Jacuzzi and body scrub table, I will be back for that! After hearing all the options I decided to stay and get a Swedish full body massage for an hour and half for only $65 really $65. UPDATE: 01/21 I was back in town for a few days and decided to stop by Cascade Spa again. This place has quickly become a must-visit for me whenever I'm back. It's so perfect to decompress after a long plane ride and for the value, the prices are unbeatable! I got a massage with Eric and he was fantastic -- the right amount of pressure and really worked on all the knots. I also got to soak in sauna this time which really put the cherry on top a great treat yourself. ** There are no better words to describe Cascade Spa other than WOW. The moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported to a different place. The decor in this place is GORGEOUS -- filled with asian antiques, hand painted murals, and even waterfalls??? if it's your first time, definitely ask for a tour!! It feels like you're walking into a museum! Each room has a different mural, there are vines hanging from the roof, a GORGEOUS dragon chandelier, and so much more. I went in for an hr massage + lavender sea salt body scrub and absolutely loved it. Totally worth every penny. The massage was exactly what I wanted, perfect amount of pressure, and you can even ask them to focus on a specific spot a bit more. The masseuse I had was so kind and fantastic! I had the BEST Valentine's Day EVER they took great care of us. They had Chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, Champagne everyone was so nice and friendly the place looks so small but it goes way back in and upstairs too i didn't think this place was that big. I lave how the place looks it is very pretty and it helps set the perfect mood for our massage. We got their couples package and it was Amazing. We both we stressed from the week and this hit the spot. We stuttered out in the Sauna had some fruit tea that was very yummy. had a foot scrub massage then had a very strong deep tissue massage that i so needed. the pressure was very firm and had a great technique i will be back and get the same thing. The two asian staff we very friendly and asked if the pressure was good and got us water right when i was thirsty. We thought that they we going to be to busy or late but everything went along perfectly. I'm a huge Jasmine fan and the place smelled so good. The front desk guy Curtis was also very accommodating and funny he made made the whole final experience a good one, he made us roasted marshmellow and made us laugh quite a bit he talked with all the customers and was very smiley. I now know where we will be going for our massages and now it will be our Valentines go to spot. I recommend this place to everyone it is truly a hidden Gem in Hillcrest and San Diego! I came to San Diego to get a massage and celebrate a friends graduation! We picked cascade spa because of the rave reviews and were excited to spend an hour of time here. We were rushed into our room and told to wait while they made the bed, which was fine even though we waited in the lobby area for 10-15 minutes. We the were told to undress and head under the sheets. The massage therapist did not say hello or address us to welcome us. They simply spoke to one another as we waited. My friend and I were on the bed about to get under the sheets when the masseuse knocked once and opened the door while I was getting my self situated under the sheet. I felt a bit embarrassed since I was not wearing clothing but it was fine. The first 5 minutes were filled with the 2 massage therapists speaking to one another and laughing. Normally I wouldn't mind but I felt as though it was slightly unprofessional to do so. I would hope that the business works on their customer service. The lady at the front had us wait 10 min in the lobby as she was on the phone and even let a few people behind us in line get sent in and started. She was very unapologetic and abrasive in manner.The massage was okay but I am someone who really values customer service and I just didn't receive that here. After moving downtown from Encinitas I knew I had to find a new spa because I wasn't going to drive 30 minutes up North every time I wanted to relax. The drive itself would cancel out the benefits of a soothing massage, it just didn't make sense. I did a little research and asked my friends who live in the area and they all recommended Cascade. I am a little shy and did not want to go try out a new place so I asked my friend if she wanted to go with me. I told her I would treat her so of course she agreed, it was a free massage! The atmosphere is amazing. I felt more relaxed the second I walked through the door. The front desk girl was super friendly and within about 10 minutes of walking in we were ushered into our rooms. My masseuse was amazing. She got all the right spots and took extra time to focus on my shoulders, where I get a lot of serious pains. This was pure bliss. At the end of my massage, I didn't want to get off of the table. My arms felt like they were made of jell-o, I was so relaxed. I really needed this time to rejuvenate myself. Deciding to try this place out was the best decision I have made in a long time. It is really hard to say because I loved the last spa I used to go to up North but this has to be one of the best spots for a massage in San Diego. read more

Absolutely love this place! Clean, friendly staff, beautiful decor, and the massage was incredibly relaxing. Their prices are appropriate, not outrageously expensive or anything and they offer tons of specials. Definitely will be coming back EDIT (March 17, 2014): I flew in from NYC on friday -- exhausted and worn out -- and what better way to relax than with a massage!? I always love how accommodating Cascade Spa is, especially with walk-ins. They try to get you situated as soon as possible (which is generally really quick) and once you walk inside, you just feel calmer. Once again, the massage was great; it was exactly what I needed after sitting in those small airplane seats for 6 hours... Since the last time I've been here, they've added a new steam room/sauna and I definitely am looking forward to trying that on my next visit! They've also been doing some other renovations and making a second couple's room, so I'm also looking forward to that! Overall, just another wonderful experience. It's nice to go to a spa that's out in the middle of the wilderness, with beautiful mountain scenery, lakes, and sunshine. I always make a point of visiting one when I go on vacation. However, I have a high-pressure job, and not a lot of vacation time. That makes having a spa right down the street from my office, where I can stop in right after work and relax, or even visit on my lunch hour, a godsend. It smells so good from the moment you walk in the door. It's definitely floral, I can't quite put my finger on what kind of flower though, it just smells relaxing and thats all I care about! They have soft music playing, but I actually don't really notice it most of the time. They offer several kinds of massages, but I usually go for the full body massage. It really gives me my energy back, especially when I'm suffering tightness from sitting in my office chair all day. Sitting down all day sucks the life out of me so I rely on my massages to make me feel energized again. If you are in North Park and looking for a massage spa to relax or re-energize, Cascade is the place for you. :-) read more

I decided I would try a massage for my sore back. I didn't have the mobility I felt I should have. I went back to the masseuse I always have gone to. She is very professional and certainly knows what she is doing. The waiting room isn't much but there are chairs and magazines while you wait. When it was time for my appointment, she came and got me. We sat and talked about what was bothering me. I explained the exact location where my problem seemed to be coming from. She said that it sounded like it was actually radiating from my lower back where I hadn't had much pain at all. We went into the massage room and this is where the magic is! The music is wonderful and relaxing, usually birds singing. I was told to remove my clothes and get on the heated table face down. I could have just stayed there in that position all day! It was so pleasant! She gave me a great massage but I was sore for a time afterwards. Once the soreness subsided, I was surprised to find my back 85% better than it was before the massage. Disappointing experience. Facility is decent with nice decorations. Poor staff, service and communication. Booked a couples package and confirmed on the phone that the pricing was for a couple. Then at checkout she doubles the price, we asked where on the website it said per person, even brought up the website to show and no where did it say per person. Also, during the massage I asked several times for "more pressure", and "harder" and it was still soft fingers. Both massage and foot "reflexology" were light and not massage. So it was over $400 for a few minutes in their cold sauna with a few "salt blocks", a brief dip in the extremely hot jacuzzi (104.8°) that smelled bad and then a massage that was just barely rubbing oil on skin. The cheap sheet mask she unexpectedly slapped on my face was not pleasant either. Scalp massage was her just playing with my hair. We asked for the jacuzzi heat to be lowered and she just ignored us. While this place looks beautiful we will not return and advise others to seek a different spa. read more

I recently visited Cascade Spa for a 90-minute massage, and it was an amazing experience. I chose the Shiatsu (finger pressure) massage with John, and it was easily one of the best massages I've ever had. What really stood out to me was John's expertise in targeting pressure points and muscle groups. I've had a lot of massages over the years, from San Diego to Los Angeles, and it's rare to find someone who truly understands how to release tension by working the right spots. So many massages can feel generic or superficial, but John had a way of honing in on exactly where my muscles were tight and needed attention. I used to see a really good Chinese masseuse in Los Angeles who had that same skill, but after he retired, I've struggled to find anyone comparable until now, and I've been looking for years. John's technique was precise, effective, and deeply relaxing. If you're looking for someone who really knows how to work with pressure points and muscle tension, I highly recommend John! read more

Wow, absolutely the best massage we have ever gotten, It was amazing, from start to finish we loved the place. We came in for our anniversary hoping to have a lovely day and Curtis the front desk was so nice and funny showed us around the spa. The spa is much bigger than you think and it is so beautiful. We got their couples spa package that we saw on Groupon but when i called to book the appointment they offered us a better price. It was wonderful from start to finish, body massage i requested deep tissue and my wife wanted Swedish. Both Emma and Coco were fantastic! We arrived early and they were able to get us in. I really liked the foot massage and scrub and my wife loved the Swedish massage and foot massage also. This will be our got to place for our anniversary every year and we will be back to get some regular massages. I returned to cascade spa yesterday for a lily package. It was so totally worth it. I have been a customer since they opened and I am never disappointed. Best spa in San Diego hands down. The hostess at the front desk always recognizes me and gave me a warm welcome that started the experience. First I had a very relaxing jacuzzi followed by a great steam room session guided by Emma my masseuse who is always so kind. After the steam room she took me for great exfoliating body scrub that was so rejuvenating. I finished with a divine 1 hour massage including a scalp massage that transported me far away from San Diego and my daily worries. This place is worth every penny. From the amazing decor and ambience to the friendly attentive and professional staff this is the place to go if you want to escape into bliss for a while. I will be back for sure and will continue to tell everyone about this try San Diego gem. read more

Wow! 12/10! Just had the best massage EVER-- thank you Peter! I used to get weekly massages but stopped once COVID hit. I've only gotten a handful of massage since then, and they weren't too great so I stopped going... I came here to Cascade Spa a few months back, and it was a good massage, so I decided to come back. I called, was able to come in within 5 minutes, and got in right away. Shirley is the best! Thank you for recommending Peter! My body feels amazing, I haven't felt like this in years. Peter made me feel very comfortable and checked in to make sure the pressure was okay. I asked him to spend an hour on my back/shoulders/neck, and he did. He did an entire hour, which I really appreciated. I used to work at a massage place and would always be trying new ones, and I can't stress enough how time is literally always cut short, no matter where you go. My boyfriend and I decided to make an appointment here at Cascade spa for our anniversary, and we are so incredibly happy with the services they provided us today. We came all the way from San Francisco and we are going back feeling happy and refreshed! The spa itself is very clean, the staff wears masks and they are enforcing Covid guidelines so everyone can feel comfortable. We received the Lily package, which is basically a couples massage package. From the sauna room, jacuzzi, body scrub, and full body massage- it's hard to say which service was my favorite. Tina, my masseuse and Jerry, my boyfriend's masseuse we're both professional, kind, and thorough during the massage. The staff walking around to help answer any questions are prompt, and the front desk receptionist is very welcoming. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience and we will be happy to be back again. For my first two times I've had Samantha and she was great. However, I recently received therapeutic services from Lilly and she was stellar! Based from my experience with Lilly, she did a lot of back walks, which was amazing; basically trampled all over my back and even pressure to my hands and feet. She also performed the thai signature technique "Cobra" (or 'Bhujangasana') which felt super relieving. It opened up my chest and shoulders and improved my spinal mobility. A lot of the Thai massage therapists (not just from here but other Thai massage places) don't perform the 'cobra' on me so Lilly was the first that I got this from. Towards the end she also had my back on top of her knees and basically pushed me upwards to get some cracks in, and mind you, I weigh about 230 pounds so that was very impressive! Some of the other things they do are typical Swedish massage and also has some hot stone application. Other notables: -Parking is pretty small and I believe it's shared in the same complex with the other shops. I went on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn't too bad! -If you pay cash you get a discount! -It's next to a small airport so you may hear jet noises but that didn't really disturb my experience. -Restrooms are on the middle floor (basically half way up their staircase they have a women/men's room) -They do have zen vibes and play some type of peaceful sounds inside; definitely quiet and well-respected atmosphere. -After massage, they offer you either hot tea or water (your choice) Next time, I will surely be back and request for Lilly. She knows it best!

I had no clue they walk on your back lol I don't know how they do it but I don't think I want a normal massage ever again. The pressure level was perfect! My neck pain was relieved and my back cracked so much. I'll definitely be back! The staff was friendly and welcoming from beginning to end. I was a walk in and was lucky enough to get an hour massage at 7pm which I'm so thankful for because I really needed it. My back seriously thanks y'all ! They also include hot stones complimentary which is nice because most places charge, so overall I was really impressed with the whole service. The price was worth it! Parking was easy, restrooms are clean and the rooms are nice and spacious. 1000/10, check them out !

Background info: I am almost 2 months post-surgery from breaking my collarbone and have a 5-6 inch scar where you can feel the rope-like scar tissue texture. My range of motion has been limited and now that I'm starting to walk/workout lower body, my body has been holding onto tension on lower back and upper right side to compensate for not being able to use my left arm so much. I came in as a walk in after checking 3 other surrounding massage places that didn't take me. Today was day 4 of having a severe, consistent headache and I was desperate to see if a massage would help. The woman who helped me was an older woman (I should've asked for name), but was dressed in black and had her hair up. I let her know of the recovering enjoy but was able to tolerate massage in the area (cleared by my PT). I also let her know about the severe headache, lower back pain as well. She was extremely compassionate, caring, and precise. She checked in to make sure the pressure was okay around my injury. I've never had a massage this relieving, this relaxing, this euphoric. When I turned face up, she was diligent; massaging around my surgical area, and gentle yet firm when massaging over the scar itself. It was an emotional experience because I felt seen, cared for, understood. I have been in so much pain but this woman saw me and could just feel how my body was tense and she took care of me. At the end, I couldn't help but give her a hug. I was extremely desperate for relief. She was so sweet and genuine. It was only $66 and I couldn't believe it. For that type of care and attention to detail, I couldn't believe it. If you come here, you will be taken care of. This was my first time and I will 100% come back. Aero, thank you so much. Truly. I look forward to coming back again. Thank you for helping me have more range of motion to my arm, for taking care of my headache, and being compassionate.

The front area only has space for 4 people standing-room. We had made an appointment, so after checking-in, we were led down the hallway to a room. We passed by several other doors but overall the space is pretty small. Still it gets the job done - the room we got was an odd layout but had enough space for two beds for our couples massage. - EXPERIENCE - They definitely found a few knots and noticed a few pressure points on my back that I'm glad they went a little deeper on. I appreciated the check-ins on whether I was OK with the strength, but there were times when I wish they would have told me what they were going to do next. I also felt like they took a longer time on my back, but once I flipped over, it was only 1/3 of the time. Still, they did a great job considering the price again. - OVERALL - If you want a no-frills quick massage, this is a solid spot!

It is small though, so I could see how it gets crowded later. Pros: -They take credit card -Room was clean -Designated parking lot -Was able to communicate well -Good pricing (I had a 60 minute massage for $55.00, but that included a $5.00 discount for it being my first time there) -Even though they make you pay for the massage before it starts, which is a bit unusual, you can tip afterwards, and you can tip using Venmo, which makes it easy -They used hot stones My massage itself was with Cassie, and she was great. I often get massages and struggle that they do not do enough pressure, but that was not an issue with Cassie. I explained to her before the massage began that I was experiencing significant pain in my right shoulder and would like her to spend most of the time working on that, and she did. She was able to squeeze in the rest of the body at the end and incorporated the hot stones into the massage. Pressure was great, and I felt better when I left than when I came, so I will definitely be back! Only odd things I noticed were that the sheet you put over you was folded up when I entered the room so I had to unfold it and figure out which was the long way and put it over me all while half naked lol. Also, I am fine with scalp and face massage, but I know some people who prefer that be skipped, so it could be a good idea for them to ask people if they want that before doing it in massages.
