We selected Cascading Falls for our Summer 2020 landscaping project, and six months' on we are so pleased with the lasting results and the overall experience in what they were able to deliver. From the initial walk thru, to incorporating our ideas and suggesting great enhancements around them, Cascading Falls took a sense of ownership in our project. We met with three landscaping companies; and while Cascading Falls wasn't the cheapest bid received, neither were they the highest. They provided a fair estimate and outlined every detail within scope, so there were no surprises. When taking on the time, dollars and temporary inconvenience required for these types of projects, you want them done once, and done right. Cascading Falls met this criteria, and delivered a 'turnkey' result without any buyers remorse. This was a fairly major upgrade to the (original, circa 1990) front and back yards inherited when we bought the house. Work performed by Cascading Falls included upgrades to the property's drainage; new irrigation and lighting systems; installation of new electrical panels; new lawns and mow-strip; an upgraded retaining wall veneer and brickwork; concrete poured for a new driveway and adjoining pathways (colored, stamped and sealed); and a host of climate-appropriate trees and ground covering plants, selected and placed where they can flourish with optimal sun/shade considerations. David and his team brought a focused planning and execution to create an amazing upgrade, surpassing our expectations in the final result as well as their day-to-day attention to details (sequence of next steps/timing, budget adherence, cleaning up before leaving for the day). They even anticipated future issues with a potentially intrusive tree from a neighbor's yard, and installed a root barrier aside a mature olive tree to protect it from damage in the years to come. I am glad that I've chosen Cascading Falls to redo our yards. The job includes cleaning out dead plants, removing lawns from both yards, widening both sides of driveway, installing a flagstone pathway in the front yard, installing DG in old back lawn area, preparing soil through out for new plants and replacing old sprinkler with a new drip irrigation system, also adding 2 lampposts with specially requested dimmer switches. The owner, David is very knowledgealbe, flexible and patient. His bid was the most reasonable. His crew is very courteous and hard working. They started early and worked in the rain sometimes and always cleaned out the place before they left. They even pressure washed the patio and deck areas without us asking. My wife and I entered into a contract with Cascading Falls (at a very reasonable fee) to implement a landscape design in a portion of our backyard. The location of the project was previously covered by a deck. The work project was to replace the deck with stamped contract with brick banding bordered by drought resistant plants and a couple of trees. The work began with the removal of an excessive amount of dirt followed by grading. A drainage system was installed to connect with an existing french drain. Also included was an irrigation system, low voltage and bistro lights. The project was completed in a most professional manner with great attention to detail. Cascading Falls employees were very polite and accommodating. It is difficult to adequately express how pleased were are with the finished project. We would highly recommend Cascading Falls to anyone who is contemplating a landscape project. read more

I recently hired David to install pavers on a small 12 x 12 patio outside my condo. He was always courteous and responded to all emails very quickly, which I appreciated. We actually found this company off of another service review site, on which they had good reviews. We got a special deal for 4 man hours of landscaping. They showed up at the time they said they would, and there was 3 of them. So they were there for an hour and 20 mins, but did an outstanding job. We mostly had pruning and weed pulling, but they got more done in that short time then we could've done in a whole weekend! They even layed down the mulch that we had bought. David and his crew did an amazing job re-designing my backyard, front yard and corner yard last fall. They demolished everything and started from scratch. Added new drainage and re-graded all areas for better drainage. Put in a brand new backyard concrete patio, new concrete in my side yard, an area of artificial turf, re-shaped my front lawn and turned my corner into a beautiful river rock/plant combo. I had his team come back this year to replace my driveway/front walkway, and put in all new plants, rocks and shredded cedar in my front yard. David is extremely friendly and pleasant to work with. I noticed a sprinkler valve leaking and called over 10 places before I reached David. All could not respond for at least several weeks some several months. With our drought I didn't feel that I could wait that long. I left a voice mail for David and returned my call within minutes and fixed the leak within 2 hours of leaving my voice message. With Cascading Falls, I just completed a complete re-landscaping of my front and backyard, including replacement of all concrete - driveway, patios, everything. A deck was constructed; large rocks put in place; and new irrigation & electrical installed. In addition to all the positive comments reported in other reviews, I wanted to specifically point out a few of the reasons for the 5 stars. - David has a good deal of past experience to draw from, yet is very flexible. He has excellent problem solving skills and has suggestions when they are needed. - David and his crew have a wide range of skills, and the main subcontractor required was for concrete. He works closely with this concrete contractor (another David), who is a true artisan and demanding perfectionist. - I like David's system of avoiding an expensive, drawn out landscape plan. We talked about design; he then came up with some sketches; and then we drew lines with paint in the dirt. We made many changes based on actually looking at those paint lines - some adjustments in inches made huge differences. There was no way any formal plan could have accounted for what we saw in reality on the job site. - David's pricing was fair. Based on my other estimates, I would put him in the middle of the pack for cost. He was very upfront about additional costs associated with changes or additions. - I like his plant choices - I have many unique and beautiful plants, not seen anywhere else in the neighborhood. - The project was completed with much regard to my schedule. I was often out of town and unable to make the many little decisions that come up day to day. David would try to match his work schedule with mine, which was very convenient. It was helpful that I did not have a strict deadline for completion. I have to say that we are thrilled with our new backyard! At first it wasn't going to start until the end of November, but they were able to start early. The quality and professionalism are exceptional and I would like to mention how helpful and on top of everything David is. The crew was always on time and worked quickly and carefully. They cleaned up everyday after they were done, and were always friendly and cheerful. They are extremely knowledgable and helped us make decisions that we had struggles with. David explained in great detail how best to do certain aspects of the project and pick out plants and trees that would work best in the different areas of the yard. David and his crew did our backyard in 2 stages over a few months apart earlier in the Spring (I was getting finances together and split the jobs in two). I had a new patio put in by another contractor who left a drain sleeve to add future irrigation to the backyard. CF added a new valve to my existing sprinkler set up, ran 50' of pipe and set up drip lines throughout our backyard, ran drip to our extensive landscaping and covered everything with mulch. A few months later, I had them come back and do a decomposed granite and stepping stones on our side yards and fix some existing drainage issues we had. Looks awesome! David and his guys are great. He really knows the business and cares about quality and making sure you are satisfied with his work. His prices are very reasonable, he shows up when he says he will, and gets it done when he says. He was also very responsive to questions and any minor issues that came up. He is also a VERY busy guy, so I think I was lucky to get him when I did. I will say that initially, I made a lot of calls to find someone to do my yard work. People were either sketchy/fly-by-night, didn't return calls, flaked on our appointments, or tried to gouge me price wise based on my zip code. Did not get any of that with CF and if I ever need additional work in the future, I am calling these guys! read more

I have been meaning to complete this review for a few months but life events arose preventing me from completing this in a timely manner. We purchased a 12-13 year old house in Lincoln that needed a rear yard renovation. The hardscape was in good condition but everything else had to go. Part of our renovation plan included a gazebo and artificial turf completed by separate contractors. David came up with an initial plan that was much to our liking, unlike previous experience with landscape contractors who try to talk you into their vision As the project unfolded, some features changed and David came up with excellent ideas and worked seamlessly with the installation of the gazebo and turf. David listens well and is sensitive to the needs of his clients. David has a very "can do" attitude. He is very prompt in returning emails, texts or phone calls. His crew did a great job, especially with the additional concrete work and new pavers that we requested. I was sold on David with our first meeting that I did not even seek our other estimates (numerous previous projects and I always get several estimates). I selected this business based on Yelp reviews, and I am so glad I did! We replaced all the turf in our backyard with a covered flagstone/decomposed granite patio, a raised vegetable garden bed (high enough off the ground that I can work it without getting on my bad knees), and drought tolerant, low-water landscaping. He also replaced some older spray irrigation in the front yard with drip, reconfigured our irrigation system controls so they made more sense, and replaced some malingering plants in the front yard. David arranged for Patio Pros of Folsom (also a very good, very responsive company) to install the patio cover, and incorporated my wish list of flowering, fragrant plants into the design. He communicates often and well, and his crew is fantastic. Even though we only asked for a backyard redo, his crew went through the whole property trimming and cleaning up the existing landscape, and even raked our leaves in the front yard. We were interested in pouring a patio/sports court on our sloped property and adding a fire pit area. David (owner) was very nice and talented. He was confident in his assessment of our potential ideas and quickly identified how he would bring in equipment, supplies, estimated time needed to accomplish the work, etc. His email and phone communication were fantastic. David's workers were very pleasant, respectful and were not excessively loud. I was impressed by the way they cleaned up after themselves. I never found 1 piece of garbage in my yard and they literally swept and/or blew off walkways every single day they worked! We appreciated the relationship David had with his concrete subcontractor ("Concrete Dave"), these two worked very well together. Once everything was framed I realized I would like an extra piece of concrete added, I sheepishly asked if they could make the adjustment and they hopped right to it without a grumble or complaint. I called several landscapers in preparation to have my back yard redone and made more drought-friendly this Spring. The bids were all close in dollar amount, but I liked David's attitude and ideas the best. They did it in the time frame I asked for, and did even more than I expected. The crew worked hard every day and cleaned up after themselves. Everything is now on a drip or sprinkler system, and is very low maintenance for me. I cannot say enough good things about this company. David was easy to work with. We applied for the Cash for Grass rebate offered by the City of Roseville. David worked with us so that all the requirements were met. He removed our front and rear lawn, but in a drip irrigation system, tilled in soil, graded, and put in a drainage system so water wasn't constantly pooling in front of our front porch. We were not home during the day when the work was being done, but our neighbors reported that the men worked constantly, taking short lunch breaks. Clean up was done at the end of each day. David was great to communicate with either by phone or e-mail. We changed our mind several times about exactly what we wanted done. David made it seem like it was not a problem at all each time. Our backyard was destroyed and uneven after we put in an inground pool this summer. We got three bids for landscaping and not only did we like David's price the best, we also liked him as a person. We have dealt with many contractors over the last three months and Daivd is the ONLY one who has shown up when he said he would or called/emailed when he promised. I have only positive things to say about David, his crew and his concrete sub, Western Design Concrete. We went to the Home Show for the purpose of finding contractors to completely redo our front yard including the driveways and entry path. After I checked the less than stellar on line reviews of those companies, I was a little discouraged. I saw that Cascading Falls had 35 - 5 star reviews. I contacted David through his web site and he set up an appointment to meet with me within a few days. At that point I was still conflicted on whether to go to the extra expense of hiring a landscape architect. When I met David, I immediately appreciated that he understood what I wanted even though I gave him only a few items that were truly important to me. I wanted a dry creek, a couple of steps in the sloping entry walk, variations in the elevation of the yard, preserve 1 large tree and install bee, butterfly and hummer friendly plants. From those basic instructions, we now have an absolutley stunning and unique front yard. I felt so comfortable with David and his willingness to make changes anywhere during the process, I decided against using an architect which was a signigicant savings. As it turned out, I never had a reason to make any changes to the design that David created. Battling continual storms, he still got the job done in plenty of time to meet the rebate deadline. Both David's crew and the concrete crew were very professional: no cursing, loud music or sloppy dress. Every aspect of this project went smoothly.
