I noticed my tractor had none of the excellent improvments that the 2018 models had. I called the John Deere home office and was instructed I had been mislead into buying a one year old tractor. They sold me a 2017 without my knowledge to be more price competitive with their competitors. With the John Deere home office help and the dealer owner Todd Holland they were forced to make good on the deal and take back the derelict machine and replace it with a current 2018 model year 1025r compact tractor. I was going to give them another chance and buy another new tractor which was a 2038r larger sized machine. They quoted me another price off their computer software and said it was well discounted which nothing was farther from the truth. Their price was pure list price. I went to Sloan Implement in Lanark and purchased the same new machine for approxamately $5,000.00 less. Based on my experience with Holland and Son's John Deere and their crafty salesman Bill Saunders. I would recommend staying far away from any Holland and Son location like the plague. They leave nothing to the imagination when it comes to burning their customers. I am also reporting them to the Illinois Attorney General's office so hopefully they will no longer practice their art of deception on any more unsuspecting consumers.

I did not name drop…read morewhen I made the appointment but apparently should have because I received HORRIBLE service. They charged us $300 more than quoted and had our tractor for over a month. Got it back and didn't even get through a full mow before the belt that they apparently replaced came off. Called to ask what exactly was repaired and they couldn't tell me except a belt and battery was replaced......we paid almost $800. They pick the tractor back up and have the tractor for another month! I call to find out the status of repairs because it had been so long again and was told the tractor has been done and they don't know why no one has called to let us know. They just simply forgot about it because it wasn't on their "list" of callbacks to make. Not sure what that means but just wow on the whole experience. My sister took her tractor here too and did "name drop" the same referral. She received completely different service- she paid much less and got her tractor back within a week. Guess who you know helps you out here which is unfortunate. Everyone should get the same service no matter who you know.

Joe answered all of our questions and provided us with various means to purchase. We felt like we were making an informed decision to include the price. Joe printed up the proposal for our review prior to making the purchase. Not one other store did this! Castongia Tractor is going to deliver our new tractor at no charge. We would highly recommend Castongia Tractor and make sure you ask for Joe! He knows the products.

I don't write reviews, but I find it hard to simply let this one go…read more This past summer (May 2025) the belt on my self propelled lawnmower broke. I was planning on fixing it myself, so I mowed the lawn without it a couple times. After a few days I thought, what the heck, I'll have someone fix it and give it a tune up while it there. It was an old mower, but it was still running. I brought it to this place. They told me $60 for diagnostics, and will call me 3-7 days. On the 7th day I heard nothing so I called to inquire an hour before they closed. The guy on the phone read off a bunch notes from the mechanic. Jargon I couldn't make heads or tails of and said they couldn't fix it. I thought he was talking about the belt and I asked if I can still cut my grass. He said it doesn't run, even thou it was running when I brought it in. Just wouldn't self propel. I said I will be in, in a couple days to pick up my mower. When I got there the guy behind the desk pulled my file all he said was, "oh, a yellow tag (whatever the hell kinda code that is). They weren't able to fix it?" I guess not, I said. He read the notes and things got quiet. I didn't get any explanation from this guy about what happened. The air about it all felt a bit suspect. Then they brought my mower out and I can see why it wasn't running anymore. It was literally destroyed and rolled out to me in pieces. I was so taken aback by what they rolled out in front of me that I couldn't even open my mouth to ask what happened. I seriously regret not opening my mouth about how I felt about them right there. To finish off the humiliation, a mechanic came to help load it into my crossover. Still had their dirty rags on it, I asked him "is it leaking?" He said "probably" I told him to take his dirty rags and insisted on some plastic to protect my car from that leaking oil before loading it. If you're reading this, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! These guys are worse than amateurs when it comes to customer service. I seriously don't think they even know what that term means. Yeah, it was an old mower, but I wish I had tried to fix it myself and not gone through this humiliation for a belt. I spent $60, waited a week, had to call back myself after a week to find out my mower doesn't work anymore and see it roll out to me in pieces. Never left a place of business feeling so sh't on before in my life.
