I didn't care if it was fixed or not. they apologized and fixed it for free and delivered it to my house. they put the wrong part in it, and it didn't work anyway. I didn't realize this till some time later when I tried to use it. When I finally got someone to answer the phone to ask about the problem they said they had no record of me. This shop is the worst place you can take your equipment to. They charge a fee to inspect, but since the techs are badly organized and have bad leadership, it'll take weeks to get an answer. They won't bother calling either. Sales won't really care about you unless you make a scene about something they messed up, or you give them millions. Parts sucks, you might as well look for parts yourself. They lost my machine a while ago, gave to a different customer and then tried charging me for the tune up they did without replacing the parts the other person had used. Absolutely worthless customer service and support. I ordered and installed a maintenance kit for a Kawasaki FR730V installed in a Gravely zero turn. The oil filter was the wrong one and it sprayed oil all over my garage and driveway. After an hour on the phone, the best that Russo could do was offer a refund, not anything to actually clean up the damages caused by their error. DO NOT EVER order from Russo power equipment. Let me repeat : DO NOT EVER order from Russo power equipment. Shall I say it again ? Now I have an extreme mess to clean up, Thanks to Russo power equipment. Brought my Stihl leaf blower in for coil repair and tune up a couple months ago. They are supposedly a certified Stihl repair shop. I also plan to inform Stihl about my experience. Paid about $170. When I finally tried it this fall, the coil was still broken and so I brought it back. I brought it back on 10/3/23 and it's 10/21/23 they said it would be a couple days, I keep having to call them daily even though they promise each time to call me. Today I spoke to Emily, she said she had authority to work with me but she does not. She's going to talk to Jay the store manager and call me back. She would not put Jay on the phone. Not only did they never repair it, but the service is terrible. I have called about 10 times and each time they give me a different story and no one calls me back. I cannot believe anyone has had a good experience there! Emily did call me back, Jay couldn't be bothered. They offered to me $40 back for the part and offered to send it to another shop to fix. They have been telling me they have the part and it'll be ready, however after this last call they do not. They lie to their customers, I am getting my broken equipment back and raising this up with Stihl today. read more

Russo came highly recommended to me from my neighbors who always seem to know the best service places to go. This is a large facility with all sorts of power equipment, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc. They also do commercial salt and gravel sales. The parking lot is huge so getting around in a truck is no problem. They offer you free popcorn when walk in and the whole vibe of the place is upbeat and cheery. My 6 year old snowblower needed a tune up / oil change. I easily set a drop off time on the phone and dropped it off same day. The staff was very friendly and helped me unload my machine. My service took 1 week and the cost was $100. The invoice showed the changed the oil, new spark plug, new belt and some bolts. In my opinion $100 is a good insurance policy every few years versus being snowed in with a non-functional snow blower. I recommend coming here early in the season before it is too late. Never have I dealt with such incompetent customer service. Mind you this is after 9 trips to their service department for a mower repair. There has to be some disconnect here. I bring my mower in for a nail in the tire and an oil change and blade sharpening. I tell them I need it Tuesday. That gave them 4 working days to fix it, which I was told by their service department would be no problem. Not only was it not ready Tuesday but it wasn't ready Thursday when I said I was picking it up to begin working on my 40 lawns. On top of that they did not even LOOK at the mower. So it just sat there for 7 days. I tell them forget the repair I'm coming to pick it up now because I have to work. I get there and that's when they decide to start working on it....and now I have to wait over an hour. I paid my workers to sit and wait for over an hour because of this inept service department. Bottom line if you want to know what's going on with your equipment and want honest repairs DO NOT come to this particular Russo's. I'd rather drive an hour to deal with any other service department than theirs. You're better off meeting with your neighborhood handy man who fixes mowers. Best local hardware store. Ever. I'll always try Russo before heading to one of the big box stores. A couple of times I needed parts to repair older items or to do a modification of something. They've been able to either find exactly what I need or fashion a piece to get the job done. They do everything your neighborhood hardware store should be able to do: fix/tune up small motors (lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc), sharpen mower blades, repair window screens and so much more. Need something fixed but don't know either what part you need or how to go about it? Just ask them. They'll either know what you need or will be able to point you in the right direction. Later hours on the weekends would be great, but I've been able to work with their hours well enough for years. If I had a big box store right out my front door and needed something on a Sunday afternoon I'd still wait until Monday to check out Russo first. read more

The Sales person was helpful and not pushy at all and helped me pick the best blower for my price range. He never tried any of this annoying up-sell tactics. Delivery was free and driver was on time and friendly. He was able to start the blower to confirm it was functioning properly. No assemble required. Highly recommend Russo for you small engine and yard tool needs. No need for the big box with competitive prices and good customer service. ordered a rebuild kit for a mower deck. also ordered 2 additional spindles. when the ordered showed up there were bolts in the repair kit bug no spindle nuts. the 2 extra spindles I ordered came with bolts and the spindle nuts to hold blades on. contacted Russo about this. No they said nuts don't come with kit. then I asked to buy them and they told me to go to my local hardware to get them. I live in a rural area and it's 20 miles to my local hardware. I have very little good things to say about Russo. if I have to make the 20 mile drive anyhow I should get things locally. DONT BUY FROM RUSSO. they don't back what they sell read more

Bought a trimmer June 28 from Home Depot. Took it out of the box 7/1 and found that it did not seem to be working right. So, we looked at the owners manual and that instructed us to NOT return the trimmer, but to bring it into a Toro service center (we found Russo via the Toro website). We dropped off the trimmer to be repaired on July 2. After a couple of weeks of not hearing anything from Russo I called them and was told I would be called back. I called back afgain and again I was told I wold have to be called back.... and it was not until TWO MONTHS LATER (8/28) I finially got a call back from Russo to tell me that the trimmer is not under warranty and it was not worth fixing. This is a trimer that was purchased 3 days before we brought it in! It took them 2 months to figure that out! And now 2 months later it is beyond the 30 days Home Depot will allow for returns... so they screwed me twice! They can't fix it under warranty and now I can't even return it to Home Depot. I work not too far from this place and never knew it was opened to the public. I would always drive by this attractive, how can I describe--a cute little disney world-type structure on the property. Even the red comic-looking logo on the building seems to add to the animated character of the architecture. One day as I was dinning at the restaurant across the street--with the big windmill, Russo's was the only view that I could admire outside the window aside from the Shiller Park Fire Department next door. I never imagined I'd ever have anything to do with a business having to do with "power equipment". I called friend of mine, a professional machinist, about the purchase of a snow blower for a relative. He highly advised RPE. My relatives went and got a perfect Toro Snow Blower reasonably priced! They were so pleased and totally impressed by the service at this place. Everyone was so accommodating. While they were there getting a snow blower they saw 50 pound bags of salt at a great price. They let me know because I had mentioned I need some salt for expected snow. After work I did some Christmas shopping before picking up salt at Russo. My relatives neglected to tell me they close at 4pm. When I pulled up, a guy on a fork lift loading salt into a car for customers advised me to hurry coz they were closing. I didn't know where to go and he directed me to the "tower-like" structure in the front. I ran to the door, disappointed to find it locked and the closing time posted 4pm. It was 4:15 :( I started to walk away and a gentleman came out and asked if he could help me with something. I told him I just needed 3 bags of salt--he must have seen the desperation on my face as I was forcing the locked door to magically open. Immediately he told the guy at the counter to ring me up the salt. By the time the receipt was printed, out of nowhere the guy on the fork lift appeared with a shopping cart with 3 bags of salt and another gentleman took the cart and escourted me to my car and unloaded the bags for me. I never experienced such first-class service in my entire life! Thanks to the employees at Russo for your incredible courtesy to li'l ol' me and my humble purchase! About 3 years ago I was in the process of moving in January when the first big snow hit Chicago. My trusty Toro snowblower sputtered and choked despite good care over the years. I needed to clear the walkways to my new home as well as the home I was moving out of. What to do? I took it to Russo. The day after the blizzard, Russo's entrance looked like an inner-city hospital trauma unit. People kept coming in with assorted snow blowers, portable generators, and other equipment that malfunctioned. From past experience with other places, I thought I'd see my snow blower in another month, just based on the imposing row of ailing machines lined up by the back door. I told the guy my problem and he told me he would call me in 2-3 hours. He called in 2. Problem fixed! They looked at it, had the parts for the carburetor, cleaned it and ran as good as new! I picked it up that same day and have become forever grateful. The place is massive inside. Not only do they service mowers, snow blowers, and other landscaping equipment, they sell it too. Got a 1-acre lot and need one of those giant mowers you see the Mexican guys pushing on a Saturday morning? Here's where you can have your very own - or go in style on a riding mower. I got a free used, gas-powered Craftsman weed trimmer from someone who didn't want it anymore and I brought over here. For maybe half the price of a new one, they fixed it up and it runs great ever since. The place has excellent service and landscapers from all over Illinois and Indiana come here. When I moved in with the fiancé a year or so ago, we made several trips to Russo's to furnish things, paint, and replace a few household items. I knew that he and his family had been using this place for general hardware needs for years and years (an uncle being a general contractor, his dad owning a lawn-maintenance company, and his brother being a very handy repairman). But I have been truly impressed with the level of service, knowledgeability of the employees, and the pleasant experience we had at every visit. I have been a truck driver for 15 years, have traveled the whole United States from border to border, but have never been cheated like I have been at Russo in Schiller Park, IL. I purchased a used (very old model) lawn mower for $250, paid for it and took my receipt. I was unable to walk out with the lawnmower that day because it was 15 minutes to closing time and I didn't have the proper transport to take the equipment home. Therefore, I agreed with the manager, and seller, "Dino" to pick it up the following weekend. When I arrived for my pickup the following weekend the workers brought out a completely different lawn mower which I have never seen. They tried to convince me and force me to believe that this is the one I purchased! The store-issued serial number was switched onto this lawnmower to agree with my receipt! I called the manager over, who also tried to convince me that this is the lawn mower that I purchased! After two long hours of back-and-forth conversation, $100 wasted on a truck rental, and a ruined Saturday on one of my only few days off, the manager stated that the only option was to refund me my money... even though the lawn mower we agreed upon and was purchased by me was out on the floor with a new price reading "$650"! I ordered a part through the website and received prompt delivery. Of the wrong part. A different part than was ordered was in the box labeled with the correct part number. I called back immediately and was told that I would be receiving a return authorization that day or the next. One week later, I called back again and was told the return authorization would be coming today. In order to have the correct part shipped, I must return the incorrect part. The return authorization has not come, Russo is closed, and I am no closer to getting the part I ordered. Now I sit with a broken piece of equipment, awaiting parts that I could have ordered from another vendor. I was told someone would contact me today to discuss getting a refund but, as is the trend, noone has called. read more

This has been my " go-to" hardware store for 25 years. They have great customer service and pride themselves on being well stocked. If they don't have something, they will order it. They hunt uncommon items down effortlessly, and tell you to come back in a couple of days. It is liberating to know you can go somewhere, explain what purpose the item needs to serve and just have someone order it, if they don't already have it. I bought an OEM transmission for my Honda lawn mower in March of 2018. By the end of the season it was leaking oil pretty bad. I contacted Russo Power Equipment and their response was that they warrant parts for 30 days and that their relationship with Honda did not allow them to honor the 1 year Honda warranty. They suggested that I use a local dealer for the warranty issue. A little awkward. Lesson learned. Next time I will buy through the local dealer. read more
