Cashew is the perfect place to go if you're in the mood for a healthy meal that doesn't taste healthy. If you're working on a New Year's resolution, or if you just want to have a lunch that doesn't turn you into a sleepy zombie for the rest of the day, Cashew is ideal. It's really hard not to order their daily special. Some examples: buffalo tofu sandwich with creamy ranch sauce; "crunch wrap" quesadilla with gooey cheese sauce and crunchy corn chips INSIDE the tortilla; flavor explosion of baked rigatoni with garlic bread. Their regular menu is great as well, if you can manage to pass up the special. They deliver through Dinner Delivered, but keep in mind that most days they are only open for lunch. Oh Cashew, if only you were open for dinner more days - we'd order from you even more! This place might be a little intimidating for someone who thinks they don't like healthy food. If you're trying to ease somebody into the concept of a meat-free meal, you might want to take them to Sluggo's first. But I only say that because the food and atmosphere at Cashew "look" healthier - if someone who is skeptical can get past first impressions, he or she will quickly discover that this food is just as tasty and satisfying as the meat/cheese versions you'd find at other places. One time we were having brunch and a family walked in with a couple little kids. They were visiting the area and didn't realize this was a vegan place. After checking out the menu, they decided to go to another restaurant because they didn't think there would be anything on the menu that would satisfy their kids (who, like all munchkins, are picky eaters). Please DON'T make this mistake - the food is awesome and totally kid (and adult) friendly. Just because you may not have tried tofu or seitan before, the way they prepare it here tastes just like your favorite dishes. Give it a try! You can pat yourself on the back for having something healthy and animal-friendly, all the while not having to give up your go-to favorite foods. Done. read more

Just recently moved here from California. I was really curious as to what vegan restaurants would be located out here and found this place randomly when going to another. I only tried the desserts so far. They were amazing. Having major food allergies I can't try many bakeries. This will be my new go to for sure. Excited to try some lunch soon as well. read more

Took me a second to realize where this place is at, it can be a little hard to spot. It's right underneath Clumpies, so you need to access it from Coolidge park side. It's super small, little inside dining area and 3 or so tables outside. I came at 2:30 on a Sunday and it was completely dead. Had the sloppy joe... I enjoyed it, it would be something I would have again. I would recommend it, but I'm not sure if I would come out of my way again to come. It was nice to try at least once. Place was a little dirty, some tables had dirty dishes on them. Silverware looked like your grandmothers lol, and my plate was chipped. But it's good food, and food you don't have to feel bad about. An impromptu trip to Chattanooga from Atlanta was even more exciting when we found Cashew. They make their own cashew cheese which is by far the best I've had anywhere. We started off with a Chai tea and mocha stout, followed by a southwest baked sweet potato, chipotle bbq burger, Mac and 'no cheese', with their daily special of breakfast nachos. Wow! What a surprise find in downtown Chattanooga!! We needed a place to eat after visiting the aquarium across the river. Since our little guy has food allergies, we love to try vegan restaurants, if available, wherever we go. This is a definite must return place for us! We all had food that was delicious, well-cooked/seasoned, and appealing to look at, which is definitely a challenge for vegan food. I got the nachos which were amazing! I ate every bite and could even share with my little man who had never had nachos before. Yum! My husband, who is a carnivore, got the sloppy joe and devoured it! Even little man ate almost all of his mac-n-no-cheese meal! To top it all off, the prices are extremely reasonable! We even got dessert!! That never happens at a vegan restaurant for us. Score! Fabulous. if you are looking for something different this is your place! The dining area is small and quaint. We got there at 1130 Sunday and it was completely full by 12. I had the hibiscus tea to drink which was refreshing and perfect with my lunch. I ordered the veggie plate with 3 options. I chose the hummus, quinoa salad, and the loaded traditional sweet potato. The hummus was served with pita chips and it was everything hummus should be! The quinoa salad was tabouli like. It was very fresh and perfectly seasoned. Perfect for a warm day! I'm pretty sure this is the best vegan restaurant I've been to in any city. We stopped in while driving through and have since gone out of our way to drive through Chattanooga when roadtripping elsewhere. Every dish is good. Fantastic, casual place in a great location. Food is wonderful - I loved my sloppy joe so much that I had to create a distraction for the waitress so that she wouldn't see me licking the rest of the rich, hearty tomato sauce off of my plate. But something tells me she still would have laughed and high-fived me if she had seen! Pastries are a highlight. I got a box of assorted donuts, brownies, and cookies. My non-vegan friends were hesitant to try (as those non-vegans can be!) but were as blown away at the deliciousness as I was. One memorable quote "You... can't... mmmph... even tell... these are vegan... mmmph"- my friend with a full mouth as she hungrily reached for another piece. Interesting, but Tasty vegan food. With a vegetarian family I'm always on the look for a place my family can eat that I also can enjoy and this place meets those two elements. Is it the best? My gold standard is Denver's Watercourse Foods, and this isn't quite there, but I can't always be in Denver. On recommendation from the man in the gallery upstairs, I stopped in for lunch. I am not vegan nor vegetarian but I like to try new things. Was not disappointed (except after seeing another poster here with a photo of the same meal I had and theirs was loaded with carrots while I think I had three small little shreds). I had the side order (PERFECT for lunch) of the Thai Sweet Potato and thought it was great. Carried me through the rest of the day no problem (usually a problem with all veg lunch). Our family loves the vegan healthy options available at Cashew! Their Mac and Cheese is amazing! Very flavorful and saucy. We also really like the southwest sweet potato. Their "chicken" salad can be purchased in to-go tubs (Buffalo flavor is great, not too spicy). Doughnuts are more of a cake doughnut. Got a powdered version this trip that was good. Downside is their cake slices from the cooler case often taste funny (like the inside of a refrigerator. It was so bad this time I could not eat the slice I got to-go). If you are a super strict vegan or have a restrictive diet for health reasons this place may be great for you. Just don't bring your ice cream eating kids along . The woman running this establishment was unfriendly at best and although my friend purchased food ( a gluten free donut) from her we were rudely shooed off her patio because my children had ice cream. She did have a sign that said no outside food but I thought since we were with a customer ( my friend) and were eating quickly it would be ok. It was not. I was in a rush and ran in thinking I'd grab a snack. While the baked goodies caught my attention, I could not say no to the meal options. I went with the jackfruit bbq sandwich, and the smell was so intoxicating, that I barely made it to my car before scarfing it down. So much for getting a To Go order. I am a meat eater but I don't mind eating vegan when it tastes this delicious. The availability of unsweet tea also makes me very, very happy. This is an amazing restaurant whether you are a vegan or not. This was my first trip since the expansion. Very nice inside! I went mainly because I heard they had a new baker and wanted to try some of the donuts. I ended up getting 2 fabulous donuts, a truffle, the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had, and the most tongue wagging almond joy cake!! Oh, and a raspberry jam filled biscuit and a taco salad! I got the buffalo bowl for the third time, and it has only gotten better each time. My girlfriend got the Philly cheesesteak, and it was also fantastic. This review should have happened much sooner. My freshman year of college I made a habit out of coming to this place every Friday to reward myself for getting through a week. The food has always been very good, fresh, and clean tasting while also reminding me of comfort food that I enjoyed before I went vegan. I'm especially fond of the mac and cheese and all the desserts I've tried there including an assortment of donuts (maple, lemon, jelly filled, and Boston creme) and the tiramisu. The tiramisu is to die for (creamy with a hint of coffee flavor. And while the donuts are not from Krispy Kreme they are some of the best baked donuts I've ever had. read more
