I'm visiting , found this place on Yelp. I had to drive 40 minutes. I walked in and was greeted by Pierre. Very friendly and made me feel at home right away. Showed me his inventory. I picked out the one that sounded like I would like. I sat down and burn this stick here in the lounge. Got to chat with Pierre while burning my cigar. I've enjoyed cigars for 20+ years now, and mostly purchased from large wholesalers smoking Baccarat, Davidoff, H.Upmann, R&J. So far I have found these Casillas to be excellent, solid smokes with good flavor, good draw, and medium body. my first is the Cognac and really enjoyable. Just walked in the other day to get a lighter and I was treated to such a friendly and welcoming disposition by the owner and those in the walk-in cigar lounge. The owner was so helpful, I couldn't help but purchase a couple cigars along with the lighter he recommended. I smoked the box-pressed robusto and I was impressed. Very mild and easy to smoke. Next time I get there I will try the cognac dipped cigars. Great place, great location, great attitude. I will be seen here often. read more

You won't find Padrons, Oliva's, Gurhka's etc etc here. They've only got house rolls for sale, most of which are Excellent. Very limited on seating, but its a very friendly atmosphere. It's Father's Day, so after entertaining my father for lunch I thought my husband should enjoy a little indulgence. We stopped by Casillas Cigars (directly behind Dutch Brothers) at Madison and San Juan. My husband has smoked a cigar here and there but we're definitely not experts. The owner was really welcoming and friendly, opened the humidor and let us browse. Apparently they roll all of their own cigars. Most cigars were $8 - $15. My dad and I love smoking cigars from time to time. I found this establishment on Yelp, so we tried it. We were welcomed in and given a tour of the humidor and given recommendations based on what we usually smoke in the big name labels. We each picked the same cigar and were invited to relax and smoke, so we did. We had a great time sitting comfortably, enjoying very nice cigars (very nicely rolled especially) and conversing with Pedro. Not long after we sat down we were made to feel comfortable and like old friends. Time flew by and we had to leave, so we went and got a couple more of the ones we just smoked. When we went to pay, we were only charged for the second two, as the first cigars were part of their welcome for first-timers to sit experience their cigars in the store. Completely unnecessary but a wonderfully generous gesture. We had a lot of fun hanging out with some interesting folks and really enjoyed our cigars. I met the owner Pierre many years ago and recently reconnected with him. If you are looking for an amazing cigar experience, you must connect with Pierre at Casillas. He is knowledgeable, passionate about his craft, and a great representative for fine tobacco purveyors and users. Tonight, I enjoyed a hand rolled cigar from Pierre (somewhere between a maduro and a corojo and about a Churchill size) and it was a thing of beauty. You know how a lot of maduros have that need to puff harder due to not drawing too easily? You just sort of deal with it, especially if the cigar burns well and evenly and has a nice body and aroma. Tonight's cigar from Pierre to me back. I remembered one of my first Cuban cigars, in fact, I actually remembered a cigar Pierre rolled the night I met him many years ago at a family friend's wedding. The draw was so smooth I had to remember to pace myself. It breathed like one of my stubby 60 gauge mellow Connecticut cigars that I have been favoring lately. In short, I was in heaven. Enjoyed my first Casillas Cigar this weekend at a fundraising event. Rolled before my eyes, it was a great tasting stick ... about medium strength and Toro in size/profile. Many of the boys there certainly admired me and my Toro. ;-) To add further testament, they sold out about 1.5 hours before the fundraising event ended. Even an inexperienced palate can appreciate them. The owner is Cuban and his walls are littered in photos of US militaria. I presume he is right-leaning, especially from having 60 years of life experience. I refrain from political discussions in his base - I have bad things to say about both parties and am libertarian-minded. He is as the other reviewer says. His joking is only mildly hostile and very easy to get past. Also, he likes the blues. There's almost always someone willing to enter the humidor with you to discuss the cigars. They stand behind their products as well. The neighborhood is not favorable, but step inside and you'll feel at home. read more

This lounge is more than just your average cigar shop. My first encounter with this place I was on a business trip and just stopped in to grab a cigar. Pierre welcomed me in and his father was there and insisted I smoked with him and have coffee. I tried to decline cause I was just trying to go in and out but the Cuban coffee and light short stick recommended made it hard to leave. I ended up smoking and drinking coffee while conversing with them. Mean while he is panning for Gold right there in front of me (different conversation). I left them with some product I sell (supplements) for being so generous to me. I returned almost 2 years later and Pierre remembered me and the product I had gifted him. I was immediately welcomed with more amazing Cuban coffee and conversation like I was a regular. The atmosphere here is beyond welcoming and the cigars they roll are top shelf. I left again with the feeling I was part of the lounge and will be faithfully ordering from them going forward.
