I am not going to pretend I am an expert on Persian food, because I certainly am not. I can only tell you whether I enjoyed the food or not and what I thought about their service. My fiance & I ordered the chicken breast kabob, Soltani cornish, and baba ghanush. The platters come with a combination of rice and saffron rice, broiled tomato, and salad. The Saltani cornish was very good - very tender and juicy and flavored well. I thought the juices/seasoning seeping into the saffron rice was very good. I'm not a fan of chicken breast in general so I liked my kabobs a lot better that my fiance's. He also thought he didn't like baba ghanush but I got him to try it and he actually discovered that he likes the smoky eggplant taste. We ordered online and my fiance went to pick up the order. The worst restaurant experience ever! Went there on my wife's birthday with our 6mo old daighter, who was sleeping in her car seat when we entered the restaurant. Just before taking our order, the owner comes and asks if I was going to use a coupon. Why would he ask that? That was weird to say the least. Then he comes again saying we had to order right away because the kitchen was closing - it was 7:45pm! 5 mins after ordering the food down suddenly LOUD (read dance floor loud!) music starts playing and a belly dancer comes in. How did none of the staff cared to tell us about this looking at our baby fast asleep? When we said we have to leave (the baby was awake and frightened) and requested to cancel our order. The owner wanted us to wait 15 mins and take the food to go because they had started preparing it. Absolutely unbelievable how rude and arrogant he was ! We just had to walk out. The food was spectacular, each flavor was very authentic and you can tell they value having the good old family style recipes. The lamb kabob was very tender and had great flavor (don't be afraid to try it) the koobideh and the joojeh kabob were both off the table in the blink of an eye. Huge portions and amazing tea. The tomatoes were still hard and not squishy enough for my liking. Seems like they put them on the drill for a minute only. Service is eh. Don't go for the service. I can't say enough good things about this place, they treat you like family! We visited back the weekend before Christmas on a Saturday evening with some friends who are regulars there. We had dinner and then the belly dancer came out. Our 5 year old daughter had a ball! We had the steak kabob and chicken kabob dishes with all the usual sides of salad, etc. I really want more of the pomegranate sauce rice. OMG. I dream of that stuff, it's so good! I'm a big kebab fan, me and 2 friends decided to try this restaurant after reading the good reviews of it on Yelp. We went on a Wednesday, there were only 3 tables of customers at that night including us. I ordered lamb kebab and my frds ordered chicken kebab. We were disappointed by the kebabs. They were overcooked and burnt, me and my frds had to cut out the burned parts when we were eating. The rice was okay, we were just not impressed by the meat. The dishes were definitely overpriced for the food quality. The best food we had that night was the dessert, Persian Ice-cream. Caspian was tough to find, and from my visit with a girlfriend, we could see it was a well hidden and much beloved restaurant (lots of regulars greeted warmly by the owner/maitre D). It's hard to find because it is actually in a business park and I did look at it with a bit of a jaundiced eye, I must admit. However the interior is nicely done and the food was excellent. Service was a little slow but not horrid. We did let them know that we were first timers and had a coupon, so they helped with suggestions. Great food all around. This is perhaps one of the best Persian Restaurants, serving quality and authentic Persian cuisine out there. Koobideh, Barg, Joojeh, Kashk Bademjan, Fesanjan, Tadeeg... ALL are a superb introduction to a food culture dating back thousands of years. Serving them with a variety of polos (rice dishes) and topping them off with delicious tea, Turkish coffee, and sweets - Caspian really has their taste game down. Service wise, I have never had a poor experience. the staff is always very friendly and accommodating - the only lacking experiences I've ever heard of have been from friends of mine that went on a super busy day. This place is hands down on par with, if not above, what you can expect at one of the heavy hitting restaurants in Los Angeles or Vancouver, BC. I've even heard from many F.O.B. Iranians that the food they get at Caspian tastes better than many of the kebab houses back home. If you haven't experienced Persian food, do yourself a favor and order the following classics: Appetizer - Tadeeg Gheimeh (crispy rice with lentil and beef stew on top) or Kaskh Bademjan (Eggplant dip, served with lavosh bread) Entree - Koobideh Kabob (Juicy ground beef/lamb served with rice) or Fesanjan (Sweet and sour pomegranate molasses stew, traditionally made with chicken), which needs to be eaten over a plate of saffron rice. Dessert - Bakhlava & Bastani (Warm sticky bakhlava with cold creamy traditional pistachio ice cream), and order some black Persian tea to wash it down or fight off any brain freeze. SUPER DUPER!!!! We went here last night for dinner and OMG did we eat the BEST food! The food is incredible! We visit their Seattle restaurant frequently, but now that they are on the east side we will definitely be coming back here often! The service is excellent and they are SO awesome here! First of all everyone has to try the tadik, its the best, and theirs is SO yummy, not dry and not over cooked! We got the tadik with ghormeh sabzi, OH MY GOSH it was so tastey! We also ordered the kabob barg and koobideh, and when I bit into the meat, I was in heaven immediately! The taste of the meat and spices mixed together in my mouth were such delicious! Love this restaurant almost as much as I did when they were in their university location. Most everything on their menu is delicious. I am a kabob snob and love their koubideh kabob. However, the koubideh is not for taking home to have leftovers, unless you are willing to withstand the serious odor that it will emit in your car. Keep in mind, all koubideh kabobs smell alike. I for one, don't care about the smell because it tastes so freakin good. At caspian their meat is super tender and delicious! There are a few things that are annoying about the new location. One, it's further away and their sign is super small...therefore someone who hasn't been here before might end up driving in circles to find it. Two, they've removed the two veggie platter entrees off the menu. My boyfriend now has to pick and choose which appetizer he wants because there is not a entree for him. But, i should mention that there are still plenty of options for the non meat eater here. Also, their kashkebademjan is lacking in the tastiness I've had at home and at other Persian restaurants. Something about it just isn't right... Overall though this place is great. There is never a wait. If you go on a Saturday night your boyfriend might get red in the cheeks when he notices there is a belly dancer on their schedule. I have a good amount of persian friends so I've had my fair share of kabob. This place is one of the best kabob places i've been to. In my experience the key to good kabob is tender and juicy meat. I always order the kubideh (ground meat) and maybe sometimes the chicken. The kubideh at Caspian was right on the money. Lots of juices flowing from the meat. We had the smoked eggplant on as the appetizer. I'm usually not a fan of smoked foods but this dish really impressed me. The serving size here is plentiful and rice amount is excessive but gratifying. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because of the service and room temperature. We went on a Saturday night, which granted is a very busy night, but we didn't get serviced for like 30 minutes!! Also, the temperature of the restaurant was super cold! The entrance only has one single set of doors so anytime they open you catch a cold draft. Also, they obviously didn't have the heat on because it was ice cold in the restaurant. If the service and comfort of the restaurant improve, I would give it a solid 5 stars. Eh, if you're just looking for some good kabob, this is the place to go but don't expect good service or a comfortable environment unless its not too busy and the utilities/overhead aren't too expensive?? read more

I had to pay extra for soltani, I had to pay extra for a tomatoe, and the place isn't designed for individual seating. There is no bar, and everything was provided in par. After 20 years of eating at this family-owned restaurant, this place never ceases to amaze me with the quality and deliciousness of their food! Stopped by today for lunch with three co-workers and we ordered the following appetizers: "Kashk Bademjan" (fried and cooked Eggplant, Onion and topped with dried mint & whey) and "Must O Khiar" (yoghurt, chopped cucumber, dried mint). Additionally we each ordered a lunch plate: ground beef kabob, chicken breast kabob and prime sirloin kabob. Each accompanied by Persian saffron rice, house salad and side of hummus. Lavash (Persian bread) and butter is served upon arrival as well. All in all, the food was amazing and it hit the spot multiple times :) The lunch plate prices are just, the portions are good and ingredients are always fresh! I give it 3 stars cause the Kabobs are actually very tasty. Location is terrible. Hidden behind BMW dealership. For such a location I would expect it to be reasonably priced. Caspian Bellevue is very expensive for what it is. I love Kabobs but cmon. If you went to Canada, whether its Vancouver or Toronto you would get much better persian kabobs for half the price. Sadly Caspian Bellevue is probably the best Persian Kabobs in WA state. If you don't mind over paying, go for it. read more

We made a last minute trip to Caspian on a Saturday night with no reservation and the host was very good with accommodating us. They warned us of an upcoming reservation for that table but we were happy to finish our meal within the hour. We ordered the Mirza Ghasemi with eggplant (highly recommend, we wiped the plate off), Ghormeh Sabzi with beef and Lamb Shish Kabob. We substituted saffron rice for lima dill rice for one of them. Lastly we asked for yogurt on the side. They gave yogurt like a raita with flavor and cucumber in it, paired with dill rice it was fingerlicking!!! The lamb shish kabob was soft and not chewy with great flavor but very over priced. Not sure if I'd want to pay 25$ again for 6 small pieces of lamb with vegetables. The Ghormeh Sabzi was also delicious but was less on salt as per my taste. The restaurant overall serves good quality food and has a very tasteful ambience. The server was helpful with recommendations. For future reference, reservations would be recommended. Overall I'd love to come back and try a few more things to see if I love the place!! read more

Ever since Saffron closed, there hasn't been a Persian place in Bellevue. Until Caspian opened a few months later. Being a fan of Persian food, I decided to give the place a try. The first thing I noticed was the decor. This place is almost definitely the fanciest Persian place I'd ever seen. As for the food, the usual fixings were there. Bread and butter as an appetizer, on the house. Koobideh served with a charred tomato and rice. The one unusual thing was the salad, also on the house, dressed with some kind of viniagrette. The food was pretty good. The koobideh was juicy and moist. I wasn't impressed, but I wasn't disappointed. It was par for the course. The prices were pretty high, though. $17 for a koobideh dinner is pretty high, especially compared to the late Saffron and compared to the places in California. The food portions are pretty large though, so that partially makes up for it, and I guess paying a premium for the decor is nice. But in the end, this is still a lot more than what I want to pay for Persian food. I prolly won't come back for dinner, but the lunch special prices (available only Tuesday through Friday) are quite amazing. (I still need to see if the food portions are worth it at the lunch prices though.) Still, this is literally the only Persian place in town. (Like I said in another review, Mediterranean and Persian aren't even close to the same thing.) And that by itself is enough to bump this place up to four stars. read more

Food-wise, this restaurant is pretty good. The kebabs are cooked and seasoned well. It's an art to cook grilled food perfectly, keeping the balance of temperature, texture and juiciness just right. The stews are good and great if you're looking for some Persian comfort food. So why one star? Service and ethics. I brought my in-laws, who are Persian to the restaurant who were visiting Seattle. Everything was fine until I got the bill, which was $50 over the actual total for the bill. Not a couple dollars off. A whopping $50. The waiter looked at the bill, didn't say a word and came back with the adjusted total. No apology. Just a "we all make mistakes" quip made in an irritated, arrogant tone of voice. Sorry, in my book, that is completely unethical. I think the waiter was banking on my keeping mum about the incorrect bill and just paying it so as not to cause any scene in front of people I wanted to make a good impression with. My guests were impressed, but for a different reason after we left. Good food. If you go, be sure to watch your check closely though. The service staff here needs a major attitude adjustment. Delicious Fresh Food and Fancy atmosphere. Great for vegetarians and meat lovers. Limited parking and difficult to get to with the construction. Worth the trouble. The food is quite good (4/5). However, during takeout, I've had three bad experiences where they use styrofoam containers and the food was smelling terrible and tasted like styrofoam. I had spoken with the owner and mentioned that I don't want to stop going there because of this and he said he was going to look into it that day. He said the reason the didn't switch is because it's expensive. I offered an additional 10-25 cents to pay for that overhead, but I don't know why they decided not to switch. I won't be going there anymore after today's experience was abysmal. Hopefully I don't get sick eating food that has melted styrofoam because of its temperature. I suppose for dining in this place might be good, but for takeout I would stay away unless you like the smell of styrofoam in your rice and kebab. read more

I had a fantastic lunch this week with my team from work. As someone who has Persian heritage, I wanted to introduce them to Persian cuisine and Caspian did not disappoint. The Food: Amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly, flavorful and came out in a timely manner. We had the smoked eggplant and cucumber yogurt for apps, various kabobs and dill rice for mains, and ice cream, baklava and tea for dessert. All my non-Persian coworkers were really impressed. My only disappointment was that they were out of fish that day. The Service: Very attentive and checked with our table to make sure we had everything we needed. Made sure we had plenty of hot tea as we enjoyed dessert. Really nice servers. The Space: The dining area is really upscale and beautiful. Good music playing and everything is high quality. Two walls have floor-to-ceiling windows so the abundance of light was nice. I'll definitely be back as soon as I can! read more

Service is fast and friendly, the food is good, and the portions are huge. Between 3 people who usually eat a lot, we just ordered 2 dishes and split between us. The lamb shank was tender, falling off the bone and full of flavor. The sauce it's served with is perfect with the rice it comes with. The Caspian special had 3 skewers and another huge plate of rice. The chicken breast skewer was a little dry but flavorful, and the two beef skewers were well spiced and succulent. I've only been here for lunch, but have tried several kabob plates (ground beef, chicken breast, and prime sirloin), all of which were DELICIOUS. The ground beef was my favorite, but all the meats were full of flavor and very tender. The plates come with hummus & pita, Basmati rice, and a side salad, which all compliment the meats well. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained and the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, despite its hidden location as other Yelpers have mentioned. When I have dined in, the service has been excellent. When I have ordered takeout it usually only takes about 15 minutes.
