Our server recommended the Mirza Ghasemi, which he said is great with the optional soft-boiled egg. Sounds good. We ordered it. The optional egg is $2, which is not identified on the menu. (See photo) 2. When he recommended the Mirza Ghasemi, we asked him to remove the Mast O Khiar which we initially chose. I said we only want one appetizer. He nodded and said OK. When the Mirza Ghasemi arrived, so did the Mast O Khiar. They put both on the table and immediately left. I flagged the original server to remind him we said to remove it, but a different person showed up instead. He: "You want to cancel this? No problem." and took the yogurt away. I did not order this; it is not me canceling. Minus 0.5 stars from overall rating. The Food: Mirza Ghasemi + egg, $14 +$2 - 2.5 Stars This eggplant dish is the one recommended by our server. We do enjoy eggplant dips, especially warm versions. The optional "soft boiled egg" is not an American version but tiny threads of yellow egg bits mixed within the eggplant mixture. Honestly, we cannot taste the egg. It is borderline a scam. This dish would be 3.5 stars if it was $14 at the menu price, which is already on the high side. A $16 eggplant dish is delusional. Lamb Shishlik Kebab, $36 - 3.5 Stars Menu: Lamb rack marinated and chargrilled (see menu photo) I knew I would not see a rack of lamb on my plate. I got four lamb chops. Meat quality wise, this is excellent. It comes with a ton of basmati rice and a salad with a refreshing light dressing. This is a bit spendy for the quantity of meat, but taste is good. Soltani Shishlik, $42 - 3.5 Stars This is the exact same dish as above except add a skewer of grounded beef kebab. This kebab, and I quote my hubby, is "not that good". Same comment for the rest of the dish. A basket of lavash bread arrived at the table. I believe it came with the Mirza Ghasemi. We have eaten many lavash breads, commonly used as wrap so it is grilled and/or heat-pressed with oil on the surface. These lavash breads are simply warmed. I learned they taste terrible that way. The surface has a sandpaper texture and still taste like sandpaper when eating it. If I paid for this separately, I would be upset.

Based on decor I wondered if it had been a pub or steakhouse once in its life: lots of paneled and coffered wood, chandeliers, and wooden booths with coat hangers. We started with the baba ghanouj and ordered the fesenjan and a beef kobideh for meals. The meals came with a salad to share rather than small individual salads on the plate which was a nice touch. The staff was able to provide some veggies with the baba ghanouj since my partner in crime can't have bread. The baba ghanouj was great - exactly the smoky eggplant flavor I was craving when I saw the sign for Persian cuisine. The kobideh was nice and tender - you could taste the onion. The fesenjan was also extremely good. One question: Who eats this much rice in one dish? The rice was very good - but it is a lot of rice. I haven't had Persian like this since we had Persian neighbors who invited us over.

Parking for the restaurant is easy - there are plenty of parking spaces in the front of the restaurant as it is located in a small shopping plaza. The dining area is small and cozy, I would say probably 3 middle tables and 6-8 side booths. Service was fast, we got all of our food in 15 minutes. Out of the items on the menu, I'll review the Soltani Platter ($28) which I got multiple times. The platter itself comes with a simple salad with olives and dressing - they do go a little bit heavier on the dressing for my personal preference, but it is tasty and sets up as a nice appetizer for the main entree. The is a sizable platter with minced beef kabob and marinated steak - I would say enough to feed two people comfortably. There is a whole half raw onion, which I haven't seen before, that you use to help cut through the fat and richness of the meats. The meats are very flavorful and tender and super enjoyable to eat. The flatbread they give you with the platter is very thin, but serves as a great vehicle to transport the meat and herbs. The interesting thing is, there is no sauce or dip like tzatziki or baba ganoush to hide behind, so the full glory of the meat is the only thing you will experience. I think that Bella Balducci is refreshing restaurant to experience in the Kirkland area, and that I would totally come back to try the other options on the menu. For the price, quality, and quantity, you can definitely feed multiple people with enough exciting options to try!

Fries, $6.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Some pieces aren't crispy enough. Some pieces are too thick such that the inside has the potato gritty texture. The sauce is a house-created flavor. We like the sauce more than we like the fries. The food is closer to 3.5 Stars. I like the family vibe and am rounding up to 4 Stars for the overall rating.

I am writing this review after my second time here. In my first time I had the beef kebab lunch special and it was good, not out of this world, but good. In my second time, I decided to try something different, which was the lentil eggplant stew (gheimeh bademjan). I have several complaints about my experience. Aside from the fact that the dish was disappointing - there were two shriveled strands of eggplant lost in a sea of lentils, and barely any bits of beef that I could see, and it was tasteless - the BAD experience had to do with the rude servers. I came with a party of my co-workers, and 2 of them ordered the fessenjan (pomegranate stew). One of them had never had Persian food before, and the other had but not fessenjan. Apparently the dish turned out to be exceedingly sweet, so both of them asked if they could change their dish. The female server chided one of my co-workers, saying "I told you it was sweet but you wanted it anyway", and the male server made an ugly face. People who have had the pomegranate stew know it's a sweet dish, but it doesn't have to be exceedingly sweet. It's a family owned restaurant, and I think the male server was either one of the owners or somehow related because there were 2 of them, both old and resembled each other. I knew he was upset because after our lunch we asked if he could take a photo of our group. With the same annoyed look, he said, "You ask me to take a photo middle of my job???" He did anyway, grudgingly. Then, he came over couple of times and looked at our table to check if we were done, I felt it pressured us to finish quickly and leave so he could clean. Then, as we left, one of us apologized for their having to change the entrees, and with this arrogant tone and a huff, he said, "This is one of our most popular dishes...it's their loss" (meaning my 2 co-workers' loss). I can't imagine how many times they have to change that dish, probably not a lot, and I can't imagine how much their cost is, probably not a lot either. Would it kill them to just once oblige the customer without the rudeness and arrogance? I think they think just because they made it as a Persian restaurant in Bellevue, they are "all that". Well, this is the U.S., and great restaurants are many, and theirs is nothing compared to Padria Mediterranean Café in Kirkland which has a higher rating than Caspian (https://www.yelp.com/biz/padria-mediterranean-cafe-kirkland-3?osq=padria), whose owner is this sweet elderly woman, and for the same price as Caspian's skimpy gheimeh, you can get a lamb shank with ghormeh sabzi (herb stew). They left a horrid impression on both co-workers - one who had never interacted with Persians before, and the other who has been to other Persian restaurants but said she would never come back to this one. I am giving them 1 star not so much for the food but for their appalling service. read more

Yelp review for Caspian Unfriendly and dishonest, I was visiting my family and we decided to have Persian food with my family, so I check the hours of operation online and we hit the road, We made it over there at 7:45, there was an open sign posted on the door then this rude host came to me and insisted that we are closed and refused to let us in and give us service claiming that they are closed at 7:45 then I confronted him about the open sign he told me that forgot to take the sign down, then I asked him that where is your hours of operation that should be publicly displayed which he said it's only posted online in our website, which I had to double check and came to find out that even in their website closing time was at 8 pm. I would have never thought somebody would lie to me about their hours of operation when you are trying give then business. I would never go back to such a place and I don't recommend anyone else to do so, the sad part was that they didn't even offer me take out options even, so lazy and disappointing, from the first impression I would say that the service would be any good either read more

SUPER SUPER SUPER EXPENSIVE. Quality was ok but nothing to say it was perfect. The waitress was either having a bad day or did not feel like serving.very rude and attitude was up to the sky.she never came to check on us and give us a refill . Being Persian and knowing my food, I can tell you that no where in either east coast or west coast they charge you $32 for a combined dish of shishlik and a skewer of a ground beef.( have lived in DC for 22 years and traveled most of the cities in both coasts and nothing like this) And the amount they put on the dish is half of what it should be. I think what they do is a highway rubbery and for sure would not recommend this restaurant. I hope someone decides to open up a Persian restaurant near them so they can have a competition and not ripping off people because they can.Something that you could be proud of and recommend to your American friends. I love just about everything on Caspian's menu. My comfort food is Koobideh (ground beef kebab) with Persian style rice topped with saffron, and grilled tomatoes, fresh herbs and raw onion, and a side of yogurt cucumber salad (Mast-o-Khiar). I've been to many Persian restaurants in my lifetime, throughout the West Coast, Arizona, Texas, and from New York to the Middle East. The Caspian is not only the best taste of Iranian cooking in the greater Seattle area, it's the oldest Persian menu in Seattle. Even the other Iranian restaurant in Seattle and Kirkland were theirs or a former line cook or kitchen staff, before they took their menu and recipes and started their own and called it whatever. But if you know the Persian community and know the restaurants and local culture, everyone's grandma prefers the Caspian as the closest to a home cooked meal. read more

One of the best Persian restaurants in Greater Seattle area! I met Shahryar and Shahram and the rest of their family for the first time at the original location when they had just opened. You can't ask for a nicer family and I not only became a customer but a lifelong friend.It's truly a family run business and their dishes are excellent. I live in Los Angeles now, and I can attest that their soltani, barg chelokebab rivals any restaurant in LA. Overpriced and not the place to visit often. No competition makes this place very expensive and unreasonably so. If you were ever in CA and tried authentic Persian food better than the one served at caspian and for half the price you would know the difference. If yo were ever in Vancouver you would experience the same result as in CA. The only reason this place is exists and somewhat popular is simply because there is no other Persian restaurant available around. Shortly, i wouldn't be visiting this place again. read more

These guys are assholes. The owner had to come out and yell at me to get me to not park in their parking spot. I was going to drop off my car at stage auto center next door and go eat there. but guess what, piece of shit business like this doesn't deserve any business. Very expensive. Quality was very mediocre and service was very poor. Our server, I think was not really happy serving people. They charge some astronomical amount for the soltani combos. This place is expensive but their food is super good. Meat is juicy, fresh and delicious. They have belly dance on Saturdays from 8 pm to 8 30 pm. Loved the food. Service was awesome. For me the food is somewhat similar to Persian cuisine. We got a lamb shank, grilled chicken legs, beef kabob, the dumplings, the meatball curry, and the mashed pumpkin dish. All of them come with rice, and some with a sides salad as well. The seasoned rice with turmeric and cumin(?) was pretty good and well received by my group. My favorite of the dishes was the pumpkin, which was quite sweet. The meatball curry with lentil had an interesting flavor, different from other types of curry. Overall, I liked the food. Total was $32 per person including tax and tip, so not expensive in this day and age.

Then if you get the sheer tea (with milk) order early because it takes a while, but is really nice and rich in flavor. We started with borani banjan and bolani. The borani banjan was eggplant-based. I am not a big eggplant fan, but it had good flavor. Others love it. Then the bolani comes with a lot of food. It is really interesting, kind of a spicy potato thin calzone. Like the other dish, this had nice flavor--but was also very spicy, a little too much for me. Then we had the Kabobs, both steak and lamb. This dishes come with rice and a salad. I could have done without the salad, but the rice is outstanding (something you have to order). The lamb was outstanding, particularly the seasoning while the steak was a little overcooked. Definitely worth a visit.
