I really wanted to give Garlic Crush a fair chance, which is why I've eaten here at least three different times and tried different meats before writing this review. Unfortunately, after three visits, I feel pretty much the same way every time. The biggest issue for me is the flavor. The meats I've tried have all been extremely bland and just don't have the seasoning or flavor I expect from Mediterranean food. The garlic sauce is also disappointing. Instead of being creamy, balanced, and flavorful, it tastes very sour and overwhelmingly like raw garlic, almost like the goal was just to add as much garlic as possible without balancing it with anything else. Then there are the prices. Charging around $5 extra for a side salad of lettuce and tomatoes is honestly crazy to me, especially when a typical Mediterranean plate usually comes with some combination of rice, hummus, and salad already included. When the food itself is already expensive, charging that much extra for such a basic side makes it even harder to justify. Ironically, probably my favorite thing I've had here is the dressing they put on the salad. That was actually really good. I'm sorry because I genuinely tried to give this place multiple chances, but after three visits, I just can't justify more than 2 stars. The food is far from the Mediterranean flavors I'm familiar with, the meats lack seasoning, the garlic sauce needs a lot of work, and the prices are way too high for what you're getting. I came to this place looking for a nice falafel wrap and I have to say that I was not disappointed. I also had a lentil soup which cost almost as much as the wrap and it wasn't that great. Parking may be a challenge as they only had 4 or 5 stalls but there are tons of parking for a fee operated by others. There a few spaces for this location in a bigger shared parking lot. A couple of spaces marked as Garlic Crush are free but the other spaces are in a paid parking lot. You order at the counter and can sit at 1 of 6 inside tables or when it is nice there are 3 or 4 outside tables or take it to go. Once you place your order, the food comes out fairly quickly. The lentil soup was probably my favorite item - it was yummy and not too hot with a good creamy flavor. I ordered the gyro plate with also comes with hummus and a side (you can choose fries, lentil soup or a salad). I got the fries and they were good and a little crunchy but a bit salty. The soup was a lentil soup, with a consistency more like a lighter oatmeal (actually really pleasing, I like this texture) - this soup was delicious! The flavor was deep and hits you nicely with a tiny bit of sourness, just a great small bowl of soup to complement the entree. The hummus was nice - a more smoother texture than the hummus that you usually get from a grocery store, had a good subtle flavor. The lamb was tender and delectable - texture wise was a tender and a little bit chewy, and the seasoning was just right and delicious! Baklava: Wow, this baklava was terrific! There was a dusting of pistachio over the top of the baklava which contributed to the flavor + texture. The honey/sweet syrup was spread evenly through the layers and the puff pastry was nice and crispy - just a really delicious dessert option! Overall, I spent about $22 for the whole experience ($17 for the Lamb Plate and $5 for the baklava). Which is a bit pricier for an entree, but that's to be expected via the location of the restaurant being in downtown Bellevue!
