Was looking for a Persian restaurant and found this on Google and Yelp with good reviews. Located in a small strip mall in Plantation, the outside doesn't quite match the inside. Service was friendly, attentive, and helpful with recommendations on the menu. It appears they used to have a buffet but no longer and that is sad. It was also unfortunate that the one dish we were hoping to try, tahdig, they were out of. The grape leaves were standard good. The "bread" basket they put on the table seemed never ending. It was just layers and layer of thin tasty bread/pita type. I was torn between two of the stews and asked which the waiter recommended. Without hesitation he said the ghormeh sabzi, so that is what I ordered. It did not disappoint. I couldn't exact describe or compare it to something else, but here's what it says on the menu: Traditional Vegetable Stew Made with Fresh Chopped Parsley, Cilantro, Chives, Fenurgreek and Chunks of Beef and seasoned with a blend of Dried Persian Limes It was different and tasty and definitely something I would order again. The chicken kabobs were juicy and plump and flavorful in a very simple way. They have a small store attached through a door in the restaurant where you can find many Persian food, spices, teas, coffees, and treats. I am glad I had the opportunity to dine here. Persian cuisine is slightly similar to Mediterranean cuisine. Love the Persian tea. I had it hot and cold. Although everything looked good on the menu, which is located under the glass top tables, I ordered the Salmon side kabob and the Koobideh kabob platter with Lentil & Raisin Rice. The meat is juicy and love the rice. It's not too salty which is hard to find nowadays. The sauces are so yummy and I personally love the tzatziki sauce. I always mix the sauce with the rice and chicken and salad. It's PERFECTION. Where has this place been all of my life? The place is nice only negative thing I can say is it's not particularly close to me but it is WELL WORTH the drive. The place was clean which is very important during these times. The service was great and friendly. I wasn't able to eat my order until about an hour after I received it since I had to drive home and take care of some things. I was expecting it to have been dry and less good since it was no longer fresh. I was completely wrong...I ordered a steak kabob wrap. It was so flavorful and tasted completely fresh. So many fresh ingredients, cucumber, onions, tomato and a side of a light creamy sauce. I also ordered baklava, which was equally delicious. Generous portions and a great prices. The salad shirazi also had no flavor, as it did not seem like it had any lemon, salt/pepper. I will never go here again. Very good Persian food - authentic + they offer a good lunch buffet. I had a meeting in the area and wanted to grab lunch nearby. We are big fans of good Persian food and this place is the best we have found so far in S. Florida. It's located in an older shopping center fronting Sunrise Blvd. There's plenty of parking too. They weren't too busy when I arrived but by the time I left they had about 10 tables enjoying lunch. The buffet had both cold and hot items and I was able to find my good items to enjoy. It was good value given the selection, quality and taste. I started with some salads, grape leaves and hummus. Then I had the chicken kabob, rice, a spinach dish and some of their hot eggplant. Everything was fresh and very good. They also had a yogurt sauce, grilled tomato and onions too. They kept bringing out more of the meats as it hot and fresh vs. sitting out there for a while. I'm a bit conflicted with this review. The food we were able to eat was pretty good. Came in last week to try the food out. I'd been here a few years ago but haven't been recently. I ordered the tahdig, one of their stews, ice cream, and the rice sticks dessert. The tahdig was really wonderful, and while we didn't enjoy the dessert we totally understand that rose water is an acquired taste. The bread that we got was a bit stale, but the basmati rice made up for that in flavor. However, the biggest issue was that our server said one of their stews could be made vegetarian, and that's the one we ordered. My mother is a vegetarian and it's very important to her. Once we started eating the stew we quickly realized that not only was the stew not vegetarian, there were large chunks of meat inside. We had already left and couldn't come back to talk to the server. Other than this experience, the food and tea that we got were pretty good. The place was not busy when I went for lunch today, only a family having tea while grocery shopping, which adds to my disappointment that my two part order was missing it's second item. Nestled in the back of a shopping center this place has incredible food. The cons are their hours and the cold bread however everything else is positive. Food is amazing and portion sizes are good. Solid option for getting your Persian on. They don't always have everything available that is listed on the menu (I'm looking at you Tahdig) so prepare for that. Hummus, eggplant dip thing, and stuffed grape leaf apps were above average. I enjoyed my lamb shank and the kids enjoyed their kebobs. Rice -- especially the cherry rice -- were more exotic than found elsewhere. The menu has a lot of stewed dishes to explore beyond just kebobs. The Persian food store next door is small but also worth a visit. There is an Arab grocery in the same mall (_the_ source for fresh, domestic lamb, I'm told), so some economies of scale there. We originally went out to go to a deferent restaurant, 7 flavors, which is in the same plaza as this restaurant. When we arrived, we discovered it was permanently closed. We saw Caspian Grill and decided to try it. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and sat at a cozy table with a white table cloth. The place looked fancy but is casual. The waiter approached us quickly, took our drink orders and answered a few questions about the menu. Our wine was opened at our table, poured and placed on ice. While we were waiting for our food, music started blaring and a belly dancer started dancing around the room. She had many props including a large sword and various colorful scarves. She pulled several people from the room and engaged them in dancing with her. Our salads arrived. I ordered a chopped salad with cucumbers, onion, tomato and parsley. It was delicious and definitely big enough to share. My husband ordered the regular salad and said mine was better. He ended up eating his plus a lot of mine. Mine was a nice topper for the thin bread that was delivered to the table. Then the meals came. I got the chicken with crushed walnut sauce. The waiter told me it would be on the sweet side but I didn't think so. It was kind of a small portion of only 3 small pieces of meat covered with lots of nuts. It was paired with basmati rice. The chicken was a little on the dry side. Not sure if I'd order it again. My husband got a huge lamb shank accompanied by a flavored rice. He enjoyed it. We then tried dessert. We ordered the baklava which was great. We also had the Persian ice cream which the waiter said is made in-house. It was very different. It was vanilla with a strong taste of rose water. There were cherries on top that added an extra sweetness. I would go back again. The belly dancer was an extra treat. We are 40 minutes away so we phoned to ask whether the shop associated with this restaurant carries Persian ice cream (saffron and faludeh). They said yes. We made the journey. There were very few items - some cans and jars of jam - on the shelves. It was dark.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only freezer contained some kind of cheese. We proceeded into the restaurant - in which at lunch time only one table was occupied - and they said oh no, that was a misunderstanding, the shop doesn't carry it, only the restaurant. Very traditional cooking that could compete with the best anywhere in the U.S. Eggplant appetizers are spot on and Joojeh and Zeresk rice are almost perfect in preparation and taste. Caspian Persian Grill replaced Kuluck, I was a fan of Kuluck, they offered a great buffet for $11.95. Now with Caspian taking over the space, they kept the same buffet set up but increased the price to $12.95. I found the food good but not to be as good as Kuluck, which is very disappointing. Caspian has made some renovations to the restaurant, the buffet area is nicer and so is the new paint and decoration which adds to a nicer ambiance, but it is very disappointing that the food isn't as good as Kuluck's used to be, especially since they serve pretty much the same food - Lavash (thin flatbread), spreads like Hummus, eggplant dip, yogurt and cucumber dip, tabouli, Basmati rice, crispy rice, meat balls, a pasta dish, veggie patties, chicken stew, beef stew, chicken kabobs, ground beef patties, fruit, cookies, small cupcakes, Lentil soup, and a few other items. Also, like Kuluck the buffet aren't labeled which would be helpful to know at least some of the main ingredients. We were in the mood for middle eastern food and decided to check Caspian out. Upon walking in, I found this place to be cute and quaint. We were greeted and sat down at a table with cute table cloths. The service was really good. We had two men who were friendly, quick, and efficient. I ordered the Persian tea which had a calming ginger taste to it. We orderd hummus and another dip that tasted liked Greek yogurt with cucumber pieces mixed in. I am bad with names so I don't recall what it's called. We dipped the naan like bread into it and it was delicious. If you like hot sauce, they have an awesome hot sauce that goes well with the mix. I order the lentil and beef stew. It came with basmati rice. The stew had a tomato base and almost looks like chili when it was brought out. They had little potato sticks placed on top as a garnish. The food was really good. It had a nice kick to it. My husband ordered the chicken and sausage dish that came with rice. I tried a piece of that and it was heavenly. We came to eat here around 8:00pm on a weekday. The restaurant was empty and the service was exceptionally fast. We sat where we wanted and they instantly brought out menus and pita bread and butter. The food was actually a little pricey for the quantity. We ordered the chicken and the ground beef kabobs. It came with some basmati rice, a grilled tomato, and some onions. The taste and quality of the food was worth every penny. The chicken was hands down some of the best flavored chicken I've had. Both meats were tender and and full of flavor. This place is awesome. It is the very first time trying Iranian food. It is slightly different than the average Mediterranean food that you may be used to, similar ingredients but made differently. I had a groupon for 2 and I was able to order 2 entrees, and an appetizer with the groupon. I started off with the Kashkeh Bademjan, which is an eggplant dish, sauteed with garlic, onions, mint and herbs, and yogurt, served with a side of pita. Hope I didn't throw you off with the yogurt, but... if you are accustomed to Arabic, Indian, Mediterranean foods this is the norm. This dish was the perfect starter, it set my expectations of what was next to come. The flavors all blended together was simply amazing. For entrees, I ordered the cornish hen meal served with barberry rice (long grain white rice with berries). The cornish hen was seasoned and grilled to perfection, and it paired up perfectly with the barberry rice. My friend ordered a the Tahdig with Stew- Ghormeh Sabzi. It's like a vegetable and beef stew, served with Tahdig (crispy rice). The rice is fried very crispy into a round pancake. I tried it and was not crazy about this dish, and was so glad I wasn't the one that ordered it lol! Overall, authentic Persian food and flavors, the staff was accommodating, and the Persian decor made the perfect setting. I felt like I was somewhere else for a moment. Ok so I choose this as my first "first day Friday" (May) pick. I have to say I was very happy with my option. I had my eye on Caspian Grill for a while and after seeing they had pickup/delivery during quarantine I was in. I was so undecided I had to go with the appetizer combo. This includes 3 dips and grape leaves. It was amazing. I would totally recommend this if you were to have happy hour at home or people over. There was enough for 6+ people. The yogurt dip and hummus were great but the real star was the Kashkeh Bademjan. Omg AMAZING! I ordered the chicken soltani for my son and I to share as well. The chicken was super moist and had a lot of flavor. I was disappointed I forgot to order the shirazi salad because I think it would have really brought out the flavors of all the food. I look forward to trying Caspian Grill again when everything opens up. I believe they have an amazing lunch time buffet and I can't wait to try everything they have to offer. read more
