Not many people are familiar with Iranian food, and that's unfortunate. Iranian food is very delicious and it is in its own category. It is not Indian, Lebanese, or Turkish, but something in-between. If you like to try different food and flavors, you must try it, and the best place to try authentic Iranian food is Kuluck. From the ambiance to the staff to the service, it is second to none. But most importantly, you have to go there for the flavors. You can try kebab over rice (definitely get Kubideh or beef kebab I think is on the menu), or if you want more of a comfort food, try one of the stews. Ghormeh Sabzi (Beef & Green Herb Stew) is a must for a first timer, then you can try Gheyme (Yellow Split Pea Stew), Bedemjoon (Eggplant), and Fesenjoon (Chicken Pomegranate Stew) I can't name everything you must try. Don't be thrown off by shopping center locale, this is a beautiful restaurant and ambiance! We had the lunch buffet. I tried small portions of almost all items in the first round. Everything I tried was delicious! My second round was Ghorme Sabzi and Ghayme, carrot rice, hummus and bread that was especially phenomenal. The chicken kabobs were impressive, but round was enough for me. The waitress was attentive and provided great service. I will return again. Also for Persian food the menu with few pictures would be ideal. The one in paper is poor quality and too small to read. New menus would be so much better with a few pictures, but stylish writing with clear description of dishes. One of the worst Persian food experiences I have ever had. Extremely overpriced, extremely cheap with portions, and completely lacking authenticity. Charging $22 to $23 for a single sangak bread is unbelievable. In Los Angeles, the same bread costs $2 to $3. I have never seen anything like this anywhere. That alone tells you everything about this place. The food itself is mediocre and bland. Nothing tastes like real Persian food. The flavors are wrong, the seasoning is off, and everything feels rushed and low quality. This is not traditional Persian cuisine. It feels more like fast food with Persian names attached to it. Portions are very small for the prices they charge, and when you place a large order you must double check everything before leaving. Items were missing from our order, and this is not the first time it has happened. You should never have to audit your food order to make sure you received what you paid for. There is also a complete lack of hospitality. No warmth, no professionalism, no pride in their food or their customers. Just transactional and dismissive. The entire experience feels like they are trying to squeeze as much money as possible while giving as little as possible in return. The only reason this place seems to stay in business is because South Florida has very few Persian restaurant options. If there were real competition, this place would not survive. Overpriced, tasteless, careless, and disappointing from start to finish. I strongly recommend avoiding this place and taking your money elsewhere. read more

Came in this weekend to see some belly dancing. Establishment is super cute inside! Our server Felix took good care of us. They don't have a ton of drink options but there is a full liquor bar! I opted for the sangria and munched on the fruit once I finished them. I planned on ordering food while here but didn't have the appetite to order. We also tried cardamom tea and this was very good too. The grilled shrimp came with two sauces one being very spicy and the other milder. The shrimp was fresh, large, and juicy tasting, I ordered the falafel sandwich with a salad and it was so big I could not finish it. I did love my sandwich because it was not greasy prepared perfectly. Yelp gave us a free coupon for soda which paid for the tea so thank you yelp and the restaurant for this too. We met up here with another couple. I'd had this place bookmarked for quite awhile -- mainly because of their lunch buffets. But we like middle eastern food of all types, so we were happy to try them for dinner. We started with Persian tea. They don't offer pots, just individual glasses (cups), but that was fine. The chai was aromatic with cardamom spices. We then shared a combination appetizer platter and a salad. The refreshing shiraz salad had chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions in a light lemony dressing. The combo platter was a huge amount of food (we took a lot home) and included: eggplant dip, hummus, grape leaves, and yogurt. The eggplant dip was well roasted. The hummus was creamy. The grape leaves were stuffed with rice and had a sweet cherry sauce drizzled on them; the yogurt had bits of chopped cucumber in it. A basket of thin pita bread was served on the side. My favorite from the combo was the hummus. We loved that they had a shaker of sumac on the table. We like to put this salty lemony red spice on everything from meat to salad and we usually have to ask for it. Our friends shared some hummus to start then followed this with a grilled shrimp appetizer and a (huge) felafel sandwich. The sandwich usually comes with potatoes, but they switched the side to salad instead. We ended the meal with some Turkish kunefe for dessert. This is one of my husband's favorites. The outside layer is made from "shredded" filo dough wrapped around a cheesy middle and topped with sweet syrup and a sprinkling of pistachio nuts. It's served warm. The restaurant is quite large inside and we were able to sit and chat without being rushed. On entering, we had to stop and check out their display case of baked goods including some mini baklava. Lively nighttime environment, weekend belly dance show was fun and interactive with the crowd. Kebab meat was tender and well cooked, but wasn't necessarily for me. The rice was pretty good. Portions are large and very filling. Definitely more on the expensive side for kebabs, but I will say higher quality than I expected. The gyro sandwich was good too. All around the best Persian food in South Florida. After this restaurant, I sit had the pleasure of visiting several more Persian restaurants in Fort Lauderdale and Miami and I have to say the atmosphere and quality of the food here stands out more than anywhere else. That being said, I also lived in Los Angeles for quite a while. This is as close as it gets to authentic, season, wholesome Persian food with us fantastic experience for the entire family. I will definitely come here again, and in fact, just spent my New Year's Eve at this wonderful location, and was lucky to have some of the best service compared to any other restaurant. 2/01/23 Our friend told us about Kababi Cafe, and we decided to go for lunch, as we were in the area. We were not disappointed, as the food was delicious. New to Persian cuisine, my husband and I decided to try Kababi Cafe on a rainy Saturday evening in June 2024. The restaurant is tucked away off a main street, so we would have never found it if we were not specifically looking for it. Having said that, we are so pleased we did find the restaurant and were able to dine there. The restaurant looked clean and the ambiance was calm and pleasing. One side is set aside for their buffet (perhaps offered weekdays for lunch or so?), the middle is the wine cellar, the maitre d' stand, and the dessert cooler, and the other side is for dining and entertainment. The menu was clear and descriptive, with photos of some plates. The prices seemed appropriate. Bread and butter was served. We ordered falafel for appetizer (there were about 8 to 10 of them-$10), my husband ordered chicken soltani $24), I ordered lamb shank with dill rice ($23), and we ordered Persian cream puff for dessert (there were 3 of them-$8). Our waitress Danarit was patient, kind, and efficient. She immediately told me my lamb shank would take a bit longer to cook due to how it's cooked- it was to be expected. ALL the food was DELICIOUS! Kababi Cafe has been on my eating out wishlist since 2020. I happened to have an event in Plantation today and when I noticed they were 10 mins away, I decided to stop by with the family for dinner. The restuarant is located in a run down shopping center off of University Drive in Sunrise. There was not alot of parking available, but we were glad to see some reserved spots up front for patrons of the restaurant. We were seated quickly and got our menus and drinks right away. I gave the place a quick look over and there were literally no other people eating there. Not 1. It was a Sunday, but still, I was a bit surprised to see such a big place so empty. I love Persian food and I have to say, the menu looked great! For appetizers we went with the kibbe, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, a Persian soup called aush, lentil soup and crispy rice with a side of beef stew. For the entrees we got two beef kebabs and a chicken kebab to share. The food came out quickly in rapid fire succession. We started with the crispy rice which was good. I also liked the beef stew/sauce alot. The stuffed grape leaves came next. They were homemade and delicious. There was a sweet component in it that I didn't love, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless. Next was the kibbe. It was amazing! And I'm not just saying this, but: best I've ever had! It was hot, fresh and beautifully seasoned. Just outstanding. Next was the falafel. We went from feeling ecstatic eating that awesome kibbe to vastly disappointed eating the falafel. It was terrible! It was not freshly cooked which is a huge negative for falafel and it wasn't even heated thoroughly, so some of it was cold. It was also really dried out. Big letdown. Finally we got the soups. The lentil was pretty good, very hearty and well seasoned. On the other hand the aush was not hot enough and for me it was under seasoned. Kind of a misfire. After the apps were done we had about a 20 minute respite before the entrees came. As we were talking, we had time to really appreciate the lovely dining area which was very nicely decorated. Also, the Persian music videos were a nice touch! Looking at the place from the outside you wouldn't think there's anything interesting inside, but it's such a pleasant and warm restaurant. We really enjoyed being there. OK, so the entrees came out. I got the chicken but also tried the beef. My chicken was delicious. It was flavorful, juicy and had a good bit of char. I didn't love the rice however, it seemed very plain and it was not hot enough. The beef kebabs were disgraceful! It was clearly reheated and had an off putting spongy texture. I seriously had to question whether it was even beef or not. It was that bad. Based on this one bite of awful reheated mystery meat kebab I should deduct 4 stars. You're a kebab place called Kebabi Cafe. Why are you reheating beef kebabs? They should be sizzling hot off the grill and fresh. Anything less is unforgivable in my opinion. In the end we had some highs like the kibbe and the chicken but there were alot of lows as well like the reheated falafel and the gross beef kebabs. You can see the chef has skills, but having the kitchen staff unevenly reheat things it is definitely not the way to go. If the food's not fresh you're just harming your reputation. Three stars. I feel like they can do better, but I'm not sure I want to pay another $170 to find out if I'm right. read more

The place is very interesting indoors and has a stage for live performances however there was none at the time we attended. The food was alright, a lot of my friends really enjoyed the kabobs. Truly delicious food! As a resident of Los Angeles where we have some excellent Persian restaurants, I was not sure I would be able to replicate that experience while in southern Florida. The food and atmosphere exceeded my expectations. I was graciously greeted at the door, the buffet was offered and I was actually walked through the whole buffet with a server there and each item was described to me. 5 stars for the koobideh kabob, ghormeh sabzi, and shirin polo. I only stumbled across this place thanks to Yelp. From the storefront, I would NEVER just try it. However, the Interior is beautiful, which I knew thanks to the many pictures posted by Yelpers. My girls and I came on a weekend to try the buffet as we weren't sure what we would like. The buffet was $17.95 for adults and $10 for kids. They had fresh salad bar, a variety of dips to go with the bread. Not sure if it was thin pita or naan or something else along those lines. They had a few soups and stews, chicken wings and fries, several varieties of rice, and kebabs of beef and chicken. Overall the food was ok, but that is usually how buffet fare goes. I did find a couple of favorites that I would stick to next time. The chicken was a bit dry from sitting in the chafing pan, but had good flavor. The beef kebab was ok, both made better with some tzatziki. My favorites were the grape leaves and the red split pea stew. The beef chunks in the stew were so tender and the flavors were amazing. If I had to start over, it would have been a plate of rice with this stew PILED on top. Man, I wish I knew exactly what it was because I need to make sure they have it available when I go back. This is the place to go if you are craving something pretty far away from mundane chain restaurants. It is definitely a "hidden gem," tucked away in the back of a nondescript strip shopping center on University Drive in Sunrise. But, boy, are looks deceiving! The menu features everything from salads, sandwiches, stews, and kabobs.....all with a middle eastern flair. It is a little pricey, but not out of line with other restaurants, and the portions are pretty big! (I had enough left over for lunch the next day, and I have a big appetite!). On my visit I had the chicken kabobs, delicious & juicy, and a yummy salad of chopped tomato, cucumber, & onion, (recommended by my server Cassandra,) and it was a delightful little surprise! The restaurant also serves a full lunch buffet, which I definitely want to try because I wasn't sure if I'd like some of the menu items. The lunch buffet seems like a perfect way to sample several new dishes to see what I like and what I don't. One of the highlights of our evening was the belly dancing, which they have on Saturday evenings. The performer was not only beautiful and talented; but she also made a point of getting guests up to dance with her and she came around all the tables. She danced to several songs and had props like fans and a cane to change it up a bit. I was very impressed with their menu online and wanted to visit in person. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The interior design and music are terrible. I am not picky but it was super disturbing. I asked if the place was new but the waiter said that it was around for 10 years. If so, why they don't have a wine list?! Only a piece of laminated paper with cocktails. I stayed for the food, but it wasn't good either. We ordered chicken wings, grilled vegetables and trio of kebabs. Wings were ok, a little bit better than you can buy in Publix. Veggies came burned and different than described in the menu (different selection of veggies), kebabs were over cooked and dry.
