My wife and I stopped at Cass on Sunday 10/18/2020. We had a hard time finding wineries who could accommodate us as this was a last minute trip. Because of Covid, the wineries are all limited so be prepared and plan ahead. As I said, we hadn't done much planning ahead, but we did have reservations at Mitchella - we had a great time there. We asked for a recommendation in any wineries that might be able to handle a couple for walk-in. Jesus at Mitchella recommended Cass and I'm glad he did. The wait for a table was only about 20 minutes. While we were waiting, we ordered a glass of wine and then Ted, one of the owner, came out and visited with everyone waiting and shared a taste of his Rockin' Ted Red. Very fun and unexpected. Our lunch outside under a giant Oak tree was great and we both enjoyed the wine tasting menu. Great service, great food, great wine - we can't wait to go back. read more

My friend and I stopped here to have lunch with a wine tasting on a Sunday. We sat outside, which was beautiful with grape vines behind our table providing shade, and there was a nice breeze that day. We had a few ladies who took care of us and everyone was informative on the wine selections and provided great service. We tried different reds, which in general were not my favorites from the different wineries we visited. I do not prefer a dry or tart red, which was more so what we felt their wine was, so perhaps just personal preference. Their food, however, was very tasty! I enjoyed the Benny Burger with a salad, which came with a delightful citrus dressing my friend said I had to try. If you shift to the personal aspect though, the experience may be a bit lacking. It seemed like they were more interested in time management than overall experience as they rushed customers out who otherwise were enjoying themselves. Again, the product is good. We made a reservation to celebrate a birthday brunch here. And the experience started out not so good, but turned out ok. Cass is a beautiful location and the restaurant is oozing with casual elegance. We showed up 4 ladies ready to drink some wine, enjoy the beautiful day and have some food... There was some confusion about where to seat us, which ended with us sitting between two large parties with young children scrambling around causing noisy confusion - not exactly what we had in mind. Then our waitress seemed to be having an off day, or possibly just didn't vibe with us because we couldn't get on the same page with her. It was like a struggle to get our order right or any attention from her. However after mentioning this to the manager, our server was switched and our whole experience turned around. The crazy kid parties left and our new server was a dream - funny, engaging and helped us make some wine selections and the birthday brunch got back on track! Overall the food was good. The wine great and the ambiance beautiful /romantic. By far our favorite winery from my husband and my road trip down to Paso Robles. Can't tell you how much I (we) loved this place! First off, the obvious. The grounds and view are gorgeous! The drive to this winery is a dream. No matter where you sit, whether in the open air patio by the entrance, out by the vineyards or the nook under the trees with the friendly guys pouring vino at the bar, this place is 360 degrees of blissful central California views. Found out they have lodging on site - will definitely look into this on our next vino trip out this way! Secondly, unobtrusive and friendly folks here. Loved each person we came into contact with here. As a native Californian, it was nice to go back to my roots and get service with a smile. Young kid at the front was working his butt off greeting customers, helping bus tables and making sure everyone was taken care of. Never were we rushed during our tasting. Our guy was super friendly and knowledgeable. The Oasis Rosé was so delightfully crisp and easy to drink on a lovely, sunny afternoon overlooking the vineyards, I ended up getting two glasses there and two bottles to drink later. Thirdly, the amazing cheese and meat plate. We got a small (which was masquerading as a large) and our eyes widened with disbelief at the monster plate of goodies that was set before us. I can definitely say we ate every last bit. Lastly, did I mention we weren't ever rushed out? Maybe I've gotten desensitized and used to having the bill shoved in our faces the moment our window of reservation time is up. Between living in Manhattan and trying to enjoy an outing in the era of COVID, I take what I get with a grain a salt and understanding. But this was such a pleasant surprise, I could not tell you how much it meant to us to be able to sit and leisurely drink our wine without being shooed away. Thank you so much for that, CASS. First timers to Paso & we stumbled upon Cass winery ( mostly because that's my name and I had to check it out ) when we got there we unfortunately did not have a reservation but they got my boyfriend & I sat right away. Josh the server came to our table promptly and got us started on the tasting. We had ordered some lunch - the caprese sandwich which was amazing & a cheese board. Josh truly made it an incredible experience for us. He was so educating on the wines and what we could pair with them. He even gave us a pour of one of the delicious reserve wines! I had accidentally spilled some red wine on my dress and he let us use a red wine stain remover that took it completely away the stain in seconds! Living in the Bay Area I am very spoiled with wonderful wineries. Hands down this is the best winery I have ever been to!!! The property is beautiful and the winery wants its guests to enjoy it too by taking the opportunity to walk around and taking in the beauty of California wine country. For $25 tasting my wine glass was never empty and I was able to revisit as many of the wines as I had wished. By the end of my time I must have drank 6 glasses of wine. I never felt rushed and the staff was fantastic. Josh was the server for our group and he had educated us on all the wines and had great service when our groups food came out. Everything off of the menu was delicious and the portions were massive. The price was so cheap for the type of experience that you get. I will 100% be returning, and I am looking forward to trying some of the classes that Cass has for their guest such as paint and sips and cooking classes. read more

We had wonderful food and if you eat meat, the grass fed burger is from the cows the owner has on site with care along the different stages before it gets to you. Sandy and Michelle were lovely servers. We spoke more with Sandy and she spoiled us. Evidently the cafe is #6 rated in nationwide by one of the wine magazines. We hear on the same rating system that Niners is even higher. We search out wineries that have organic gardens that they utilize in their cafes/restaurants/small plates offered on site. If they care that much about the food, we know the wines will likely be good too. That said, we are more focused on the healthy food than the wines, and yet they were good too. My wife and I recently got married with Cass Winery as our venue. It was just over 2 years ago when we found Cass. We just stopped in for wine tasting towards the end of a weekend in Paso Robles. Every wine we tasted was delicious. They recommended we stay for lunch which was also pretty amazing. Between the wine and great food, our hearts were won over. We found the place we wanted to get married at. From start to finish, they made the entire process fun and low stress. A lot of credit goes to Michelle, their wedding coordinator. She helped coordinate many of the onsite details, starting with the food tasting with the head chef. At that time she helped us finalize our wine selections, dinner ware, cloths, and chairs. From there she handled the rest. The biggest help from Michelle took place during the final weeks leading up to wedding. We gave her the list of vendors and primary contacts from our party (parents, maid of honor, best man, etc) and coordinated with each of them so that my wife and I could enjoy our big day. The day before our wedding, we dropped off all of our decor. We gave her a list of the items and their general placement, but left it to her to arrange them. We really trusted her eye and judgement for the decor setup and couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised by how well she set up our reception when we got out of their restored Chrylser. The table setups were beautiful and the lighting was amazing once the sun went down. We adore our photos from the vineyard. The Geneseo Inn wasn't complete at the time of our wedding but we look forward to coming back and celebrating our anniversary there. read more

Going to start off by saying that I'm hoping today was on "off" day for Cass. Had reservations, walked inside and immediately was told to go back outside to check in. Ok....nobody was there. Waited. 5 minutes later a younger, friendly gentleman in a surf shop shirt greeted us and took us to our table. We sat at our table for about 10 minutes until someone came with 3 glasses to start our tasting. 1st pour was a white wine...no clue what it was because we didn't have a flight menu. It was warm. Yuck. Next up, either sparkling wine or champagne...again, not sure and it was on the warm side and It definitely had been sitting out and really didn't have any bubbles. This experience Just kept going downhill. We asked for menus a couple of times, nope.....Our guy didn't know which wine he had poured and which ones he hadn't. We finally asked if we could have some tastings from bottles that hadn't been sitting out. He agreed everything hadn't been at a good temp. At this point, kinda not feeling a vibe here. I've heard really great things about this winery, but it just seemed as if employees never received formal training. Not their fault. Luckily, I live in the area and if there's a next time, I'm optimistic it'll be better. Can't get worse. They now have reformed shipping containers that they've converted into rooms that overlook the vineyards. The units look pretty cool, worth checking out if you need accommodations. read more

We tasted wine and had lunch today on the covered patio at Cass Winery. Although previously unknown to us, this winery is an absolutely MUST visit in Paso Robles. Our delightful wine guide, Linda, was knowledgeable and engaging, pointing us toward the right wines to taste for our preferences (and a few surprises). The lineup of wines, especially the white Rhône varietals were impressive. The red blends were also delicious, with some unusual combinations of Rhône and Bordeaux varietals. The food was incredible, Two oven fired pizzas, crab cakes (best I've had since southern Maryland), and the blackened chicken Mac and cheese were shared all around. Try the game meat charcuterie board. You won't be disappointed. Although we rarely repeat visits, I look forward to returning to Cass! read more

Winery: They have two options ( $15 & $20) for wine tasting. We went with the $15 option since $20 menu had bottles that were super pricey.. but honestly none of the wines really stood out to us. I remembered while asking questions about dessert wines before our visit over the phone since that is our preference--someone recommended the Late Harvest 2018 to me, which they don't offer on the menu... After the tasting, I inquired about the Late Harvest 2018, was offered to sample some and fell in love. Thankfully we were gifted a $15 off a wine bottle purchase from Central Coast Trailrides & was able to put that to use! Asides from the fact nothing really stood out to us from the tasting menu.. the main thing that bothered my significant other and I was the long waits in between tastings & stingy wine pours we got. It would've also been nice if the person that tended to us took more time in describing the different wines to us and interacted with us more to make our visit more pleasant. Geneseo Inn: Booked the At Last Room #8 to surprise my fiancé for our anniversary and it was perfect all the way from the aesthetics, wraparound private decK, views of the vineyard, the fire pit & hammock located outside of our room. Highly recommend booking this room or any room in Geneseo Inn if you are planning to celebrate a special occasion with family, friends or your significant other. Big plus is that they are pet friendly ( provided us with cute bowls for our pup) & they also include a sweet or savory breakfast to your stay ( and it's not like your basic hotel that leaves you with muffins & cereal ). Not sure if it was the position we slept in or the bed itself.. but when we woke up we felt pain all over our bodies as if we had gotten beaten up. We also found ourselves waking up multiple times in the morning because the AC would constantly turn off and it would get so hot. Geneseo also should consider adding in TV's the rooms for guests to use in the future since watching on a laptop can really strain your eyes after awhile. Overall, had a pleasant stay and staff really played their part in making us feel special with their great hospitality. Most likely will come here again in the future if we ever need a quick getaway from reality in the Bay Area. read more

The location of this winery is absolutely beautiful, amongst rolling green hills, which is your view when having a meal outside. There are farm animals and a vegetable garden you can walk around and check it all out. The wine was very good and so was the food, the service could have been better (slow) as the servers were also doing the wine tasting pours, so they seemed to be stretched too thin of no fault of their own. Price-wise a little steep for what you get and you can only get one tasting fee waived for every 2 bottles you buy so that was a bummer. Overall I would love to go back. read more

Our party of Bay Area visiting four adults stopped over for wine tasting and lunch on 5/11/21 Tuesday. We didn't have reservation and to our surprise the place was packed! The usher/ host was very considerate and offered us wine tasting at the bar counter and the food at a spillover location under a tree adjoining the restaurant sittings. There were chairs and umbrella to make our time comfortable. The flight of Cass wines was delectable. The food quality and display were appetizing and a class. The hostess Katie was a great Cass Winery brand ambassador and made an exception to bringing our wines and food to our bit far tables. Wow! read more

Had reservation for 8 at 2pm yesterday. I had made it online and called to confirm. We showed up five minutes before our reservation and was seated a few minutes after. We had ordered food and tastings plus a bottle by 2:15. At 3pm, we still had no food, no wine, and no water. I talked to hostess and water came out. 10 minutes later, some wine started arriving but subsequent rounds eeked out. Plus no food. At 1.5 hours, I talked to hostess again. Then I talked to manager to explain that at 1.5 hours, we had no food and were maybe an third thru our tasting flights. Finally food came out, although missing several items. The manager tried to explain that this was "an abnormal situation" (didn't say why) but did take the bottle of wine off the check. We normally wouldn't stay for this kind of service but with a large group and COVID requiring reservations, we had no choice. The two servers working the area both disappeared. Meanwhile, a small army was setting up a rehearsal dinner around us. That was clearly their priority. We also heard from another guest that the manager had been heard complaining about our group still being at our table. So her previous apology seemed pretty hollow at that point. Bottom line, the food was good, the wine was good, and the setting was nice. But the staff was inattentive and rude and the manager was inept/talking about us behind our backs. Finally, while I have no proof, the fact that our group was Latino seemed to contribute to the lack of service. All the other couples (white) were being quickly served and had attentive servers. Their servers were checking in on them quite often while we sat with not even water. Go where the staff cares and will treat you with respect. read more

What an absolute nightmare for Mothers Day brunch. We waited two hours for them to bring us family style breakfast. We were told two people called out sick . You booked a venue for 500 people, took our money plus charged us gratuity and didn't staff enough people. There were 3 servers total. Last year was buffet that worked great, today they tried to save $ and serve us family style. My friend slipped on their wet floor with a baby and they never even came around to talk to us and see if she was okay. Nobody cared and just responded with we don't know what to do. On the reservation page it said all you can drink mimosas and then they said just one pp. They responded it was a mistake by their marketing team.
