Cassano's used to be pretty much if you've spent any amount of time around the San Clemente Pier Bowl area then you've definitely had your fair share of slices over the years but that isn't the case anymore as they've moved away from the Pier area and to a new location on El Camino Real across the street from Ralph's. The new location is bigger and has a bar now so that's definitely a plus as you can't ever go wrong getting a cold brew with your pizza pie! Typical pizza place they deliver to the San Clemente area and have always been a place we occasionally would order from as their pizza has always been good. Over the years I've had a ton of different pies here and everyone was always enjoyable so order away or keep it simple with a pepperoni like I sometimes do as it wasn't too crazy expensive for a large pepperoni pie as I believe I payed $17.33 for it but still kinda on the high side. I'm not sure when I will return here but it was definitely good to see what once was our go to slice on the beach still being delicious in it's new home. read more

This was my first time visiting Cassano's and I found it to be a very pleasing and enjoyable visit. My first walk up was a bit unpleasant but that was only because you could tell the hostesses were new and not sure of what to do. But that was okay, we walked up to the bar and was greeted by an amazing smile named Erin. Erin took our order, Cucumber Salad/Caprese/Lasagna and two ciders that she had recommended. The cucumber and caprese came out first and were extremely delicious. Paired with our ciders and I was ready to say the experience was great. Then came out the lasagna... WOW! The cheeses and the garlic bread, compliments to the chef. After enjoying our experience, we shared our gratitude with the owner and reassured Erin that we had an amazing first experience. Came here after my work out casual and was greeted at the front door by these two young men who were very nice professional and helpful. They explained to me different options on how to order as far as ordering at the front desk or by being seated and having either bartender or a waiter/waitress come to your table. I decided to sit at the bar since I was having a little self-care date night. I was greeted by the most nicest lady who was also very beautiful as well. Her name was Tiffany. Ordered my cauliflower pizza and it was absolutely delicious! It didn't be even taste like I was keeping it low carb. What the heck !? I've been driving past this place for years but tonight on a whim my wife and I decided to give it a shot. I'm a pizza snob. I've lived in New York and made multiple trips to Italy, and have eaten pizzas I thought could never be topped. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think this may be the best pepperoni pizza I've ever eaten. It's about as perfect as it gets. The ingredients are high quality and expertly chosen. My guess is they're using a high gluten flour which gives it that crispy bottom an incredibly chewiness. I'm almost certain they're using Grande cheese, which is expensive, but is far and away the best tasting pizza cheese ever created. But I'm still baffled... I've eaten at many pizzerias that use this cheese and type of flour, but what sets Cassano's apart is that the crust doesn't get soggy and saturated with grease after the pizza has cooled. It stays crispy on the bottom and perfectly chewy, even after the pizza has cooled to room temperature. It's amazing. The sauce is perfect. Tangy, acidic and slightly sweet. Pizzas are ruined when the sauce is overly seasoned, but this sauce is exceptional and just the right amount. Like I said, I'm baffled and plaI am blown away! We found this great Italian place up the street after a day of walking on the pier in San Clemente. Cassano's was a great break from all the Mexican restaurants and bars. A huge amount of locals were getting take out. This place must be good! The whole family enjoyed the personal pizzas, tortellini, calzone and I picked from a selection of craft beers I have not tried before. The staff was friendly and attentive. With 9 tables inside and 4-5 outside it never seemed crowded. From 7-8pm great, friendly, locals. Nikki, our server, helped us by serving the kids as soon as the their food was ready, making for very happy tummies. My wife and I had time to talk while the kids ate. Decided to give this place a try after driving by it several times. It looks like they have good outdoor dining set-up, but I was just there for takeout. I had high hopes, but I must say I was a bit disappointed. I got the veggie pizza and by the time I got home (just a 10-minute drive), it was totally soggy. Dare I say there are too many veggies on it? Or just too much watery spinach? In any case, there wasn't a ton of flavor. It might be that I got the wrong item on the menu, but my husband wasn't that thrilled with his choices either (he got the chicken parmesan pasta, meatball sliders, and mac n cheese; his appetite is insane). I ordered the tortellini which came with what they call "rose sauce" which is marinara sauce combined with alfredo (my favorite!!). IT WAS DELICIOUS. Came with 2 slices of house garlic bread. The garlic bread isn't very oily and very light in garlic. They add cheese and bacon on top and melt it all down and it is absolutely scrumptious! That together with the garlic bread is a match made in heaven. The tortellini itself was also delicious My friends got calzones and they were really big and stuffed with filling.
