I had to ask where it was, and instead of apologizing they just asked for my credit card. No make-good, no accountability, just a $35 charge for the most basic pasta on earth. I stumbled upon this area unexpectedly and decided to explore. This restaurant was open and it looked very elegant and clean. There was plenty of seating outside and I liked that the soup of the day was cream of broccoli. I decided to enjoy a bow and it was delicious . It was creamy but you could still savor chunks of broccoli. It hit the spot! For some reason, it took a long time for my order to arrive. The staff was professional and cordial. I wish there were more than 1 Italian red wine available. I enjoyed a nice glass of Californian Pinot Noir. I thought prices were average and the happy hour offers discounts. Would be a 5 star but the chicken Alfredo pasta was bland and they sorta forgot about us in the beginning with not bringing out our water , chips and salsa. Although they let us know they would it took them about 30 min to do that. The welcoming they present is very comforting and respectful. The servers don't check on you not as often as they should. What a disappointment. Went in for lunch on a Friday with my son and the restaurant was completely empty except for one booth and two people at the bar. There was no one at the hostess stand. We stood there for a while before someone emerged from behind the bar, noticed us, and sat us. I asked if the outdoor patio was available because I noticed none of the tables outside had table cloths on them and no cushions on the couches. They told us it was open and proceeded to sit us at a table that was filthy with food droppings, grease marks and little globs of butter. No offer was made to wipe the table down. And before I could ask them to do it, the staff person quickly handed us menus and said he would return with waters. And then we waited...and waited...and waited...for over 25 minutes! No one ever came back out to serve us! What the heck?!? I mean, I get being short staffed, but there was NO ONE in the restaurant!!So, we got up and walked out...and went to Fratellos and had the best lunch ever. I've never walked out of a restaurant in my life! But ALL the red flags were waving and there was NO way I was going to drop $$$ for overpriced food and get crappy service. I also did not realize they had switched from being an Italian restaurant to a Mexican one?!? The menu online does not match the menu in the restaurant and the prices are WAY higher! I've supported this restaurant through all its different ownerships over the last 22 years, but this was just sad. Hoping this was a fluke...unfortunately I'm seeing several other negative reviews on here with similar experiences the last few months. read more

The Best restaurant if you live in Telaga, San Clemente. Perfect for a date night in the dinning or amazing fair price happy hour at the bar. The bartender Chris is above and beyond as he remembered our drinks and sends our food order in at a perfect time. The appetizers are so delicious but big enough for an entrée. Some of our favorite appetizers are the CRAB CAKE, GAMBERI AL LIMONE (shrip in white wine sauce on top of risotto, ) SHRIMP MARCELLO fried shrimp stuffed with crab )and STEAMED PENN COVE MUSSELS. The entrée pasta and risotto are delicious honestly too many to choose from. My husband loves the RAVIOLI ARAGOSTA (lobster raviolis in a pink cream, vodka sauce and I always choose something different depending on my mood ! FETTTUCCINE MARCELLO, BOLOGNESE, PESTO or the DI MARE ALLA VODKA (seafood over risotto). This is our go to date night at least once a week. I hope to try new entrées next month. read more

Went here for dinner the other night and was not disappointed. The food is pretty standard and a great Italian option for San Clemente. I wish they had some more authentic dishes, but it was still good. The ambiance was cozy, yet felt like a great space for large gathering too. Just moved to the area and stumbled across this little gem. We didn't have a reservation but were seated immediately. Mind you it was a Friday night at 7pm so that was a plus. They also had bar seating available and back room tables available for a short wait. Hosts and servers were all so nice The wine selection was decent and the service was great. The fresh bread the gave us with dinner was delicious and served with regular and pesto butter. They didn't skimp on the clams. the spumoni appetizer was great. Will be adding to our rotation of restaurants for date night. What a disappointment! We have gone two or three times in the past and have loved it. We were shocked when we made a reservation thinking it was gonna be like our previous visits but were greeted with chips and salsa. The wait staff was attentive and I told them that I was confused thinking it was going to be Italian as before, and they said there were still some Italian dishes on the menu, but how was i to find chicken marsala hidden under carnitas chili Verde Nothing on the website told me that they had changed their menu or their focus and I think that they are still trying to figure it out. Unfortunately I do not have any faith that they will last and I'm very disappointed that it is no longer a nice Italian restaurant. The location is fantastic, the outside patio is great and I feel that they've ruined it by trying to make it something that we don't need in San Clemente, which is another Mexican restaurant! read more

I decided to give Fettuccine Marcello a try for Happy Hour when there was a large town power outage. I figured that they might not be affected based on location and because it IS so close to my house. I got there and the power was on! It was very inviting, it was just the perfect ambience for me! The bartender made me the nicest Vodka Martini and I sat there admiring the rolling hills, the quietness of the TV's - playing the top sports games and I had the shrimp appetizer off the HH menu. What a great new hidden gem in San Clemente! Located across from the Talega Village Center and Golf Club, this is a must try if you want great food, service, and atmosphere. Full bar, extra dirty martini and a manhattan were both excellent! Minestrone soup was so flavorful (no salt/pepper needed) and chopped salad with gorgonzola dressing was crisp and fresh. Filet was cooked to perfection and angle hair pasta was great. Expresso martini, creme brulee and cannoli was delicious desserts! Steven our server was amazing, best server in south county, and Saul the owner/manager, is so attentive and pleasant, you can tell he has a passion for this place and makes sure everything is on point. 5+ Stars for food, service, and atmosphere. On Sunday we hosted 17 guests to celebrate my granddaughters baptism. From the moment I called to book such a large group, I was greeted with the most wonderful and reassuring person. It was one of the most incredible experiences. We were accommodated like royalty. We had all ages and the menu was varied and perfect. The ambience was perfect for a big family gathering. Being Italian, it felt as if I was transported to my grandma's kitchen. The service was impeccable. The food was over the top delicious and perfectly prepared ( difficult with such a large group of people) , We weren't rushed, we felt "at home". Went here for Valentine's Day with my beautiful girlfriend. The restaurant had lots of parking. The servers were very attentive and greeted us right away as we walked in. They often came by to check up on how we are doing. A+ customer service. The ambiance of the restaurant that day was more geared towards like a date night with lots of 2-seater tables with candles. It was a very fancy and soothing atmosphere. We ordered the large scallops and fried calamari as our appetizers. The fried calamari tasted like any other fried calamari from a restaurant but the plating is what made it extra nice. The large scallops came with a spicy tomato sauce which elevated the dish to a favorite of mine. We ordered the pesto pasta and rib eye steak as our main entrees and both were delicious. The pesto sauce was creamier than what I'm usually used to, but I like it better that way. The rib eye steak came with vegetables and potatoes that tasted so good with the steak. I enjoyed a nice lunch at Fettuccine Marcello on a recent afternoon. The pleasant experience began with a cheery greeting from the fantastic bartender, Lisa. She made the perfect dirty martini. I started with an heirloom tomato arugula salad. The ingredients were fresh and palate-pleasing. I completed my meal with an Italian sausage panini. I couldn't finish the sandwich as I was sated after half of the tasty sandwich. Lisa checked in at opportune times, during my meal, to ensure my experience was positive. Her service was the best part of my time there. I enjoyed the food. Lisa is a great ambassador for the restaurant. Kudos to her! read more
