THE best grilled fish sando. This is the epitome of a local pub in a small town. Great bar, great local beer selection, and their own beer is excellent, so far, that we've tasted. Bartenders are friendly and willing to give you good suggestions on food and beer choices. I am so glad we found this on our cruise ship excursion to Cannon Beach. The options for beers are great, I opted for a hoppy bill tavern brew which is one of their in house/local beers on draft. I'm sure these change frequently as they are written on chalkboard in the back of the restaurant. I ordered the 5 piece halibut fish and chips. It was very tasty and surprisingly filling. I come from New England so the typical New England fish and chips (which is cod) is usually a bit bigger than this one. Despite this, the halibut tasted great and the service was quick and easy. A waitress came to help our party quickly and got the food to us in a short amount of time. Bathrooms are available and parking is VERY limited as it's mostly street parking, which was slim to none for me. Be prepared to walk a bit to this place unless you have parking directly next to it. That's the main reason I didn't give this place five stars is because I could have easily found a new place to eat if I didn't find parking. read more

They have two seating areas, one for 21+ and one for everyone, and you can seat yourself when you arrive. Between the halibut and cod, our table tended to like the cod more despite it being the cheaper option. The batter was light and crispy, and the tartar sauce was delicious. Service 5 stars. Hands down. We show up just before 9pm on a quiet Friday night and the bartender is CLEARLY closing up. But instead if a crap attitude she skips to us. She's so sweet and animated and fun and immediately we both LOVE her. She was PHENOMENAL. Period. Like 100% tip phenomenal. I had a garden burger no mayo no cheese ADD hot sauce and she did NOT disappoint when I asked for some hot sauce. She came out with a hot sauce variety for us!!! Yum!! Bill's is a chill spot with a Applebee's like vibe. Everyone is having a good time, enjoying a local spot with good food and beers. We ended up BACK at Bill's our second night in town after I was let down by the Mexican food we had earlier in the day. I got a black bean burrito and holy moly it was HUGE and flavorful. I was definitely full when we finished. And again we had great service. I'd recommend Bill's for anyone looking for a good meal and drink, supporting a great local business, and getting great service too. You 1000% get your money's worth here! My wife and I stopped into Bill's Tavern on our first night in Cannon Beach. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. There is a 5% prepared food tax added to each tab. Bill's Tavern only offers beer and wine, no spirits. Only one tab per table is allowed; no separate checks. There is a $1 up-charge added to take-out orders. A small outdoor seating area is offered. Indoors, bar, table and booth seating are available. Large parties many find difficulty in seating. While looking over the menu, I sipped on a glass of house Cabernet for $7. My wife had a pint of Duck Dive Pale Ale for $7. We shared a cup of Clam Chowder for $8. Decent but not great. We also shared the Grilled Halibut Burger with chips for $25: seasoned and grilled halibut fillet with house made tartar sauce. We were starving so the burger hit the spot at the time; however, it was on the bland side in flavor. Our server was friendly but rushed. Overall, Bill's Tavern is a nice spot to grab a cold beer. The restaurant was busy so it was self serve seating. We picked a table in the run the was beautifully painted like the nighttime marina. The also had old pictures of the bar through the 1920's. This place has been an establishment for quite awhile. The waitress came by shortly and took our order. I had to use their restroom and even that was painted like the night sky. We weren't too hungry and ordered a cod fish and chips to share. It came by a short time later. The waitress had also brought out an extra plate for sharing. There were 4 pieces, some garlic toast and a small amount if fries. Price was reasonable given the location. I do wish they served it with a little more fries. She came out often to check on us and refill our waters. Great service. They had the ability to slide over a small table and add it to a booth so that you can seat six people. I didn't have a beer but their selection was stuff they brewed in house or they brought in other options. They have a small patio out front as well which is pet friendly but not really covered. Parking would be best found in their public parking areas but they fill up fast. Finding a street parking on the side streets is going to be very limited. Expect that as cannon beach is a cute and popular town and busy almost all the time. The beach itself is a short walk away but you won't be able to see it from S. Hemlock street or the bar itself. So glad we finally made it a point to eat at Bills's on our recent stay. We enjoyed the Cobb salad which was large enough to share or have on its own if you're craving a good fresh crunchy salad to balance out all the other goodies found at the coast! Their clam chowder was very tasty - creamy with lots of big clam chunks!! Clam strips were also a crispy yummy hit! And lastly their seafood stew...a savory tomato broth and hearty pieces of shrimp, scallops, and halibut. The stew was served with 2 pleasing slices of garlic toast. We did take out for both meals we had here because we had our dog with us and it's only pet friendly on the patio but the rain prevented us from dining Al fresco. Great visit to Bill's yesterday as we visited Cannon Beach for the king tides. What a sight. My wife had the Garden Burger and I had the Shrimp and Cheese Melt. Both were tremendous and the accompanying french fries and onion rings were also excellent. The two pints of Bill's Taps were also quite refreshing. Forest was an excellent server and took care of us perfectly. The only reason that I am not giving Bill's 5 stars was the attitude we seemed to receive from the female bartender. When we entered the Tavern, I wanted to say hi to the bartender, but she seemed to scowl, like we were a nuisance. Then later I asked her for a fork and she simply asked Forest to get it for us. Finally when she cleared our plates, I thanked her, and she said, "yep". Still not sure what we did to receive her lack of engaging and friendliness. But we will return to Bill's during our visits to Cannon Beach; I just hope Forest takes care of us. read more
