Steaks were cooked perfectly and the sauce was simply delicious, just enough saltiness to accent the steak. Mahi mahi looked fabulous, though I didn't taste it. The Mac and cheese had layer upon layer of flavor. Fantastic. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the bananas or the mangoes. This place is insanely good. Check in early so you can be assured a spot. It's well worth the wait. We shared the Mediterranean roll, the amazing crab fritters, very tender jerk chicken, and a cup of the prawn chowder. The chowder could have used a few more prawns but that's a minor complaint. I cannot say enough good things about this place! To start- drinks. The blueberry lavender lemonade was absolutely incredible. I also had the blood orange margarita and the attitude adjustment, which were so excellent. My husband had a Mai Tai and a Hurricane, and he thought they were both great! The Jamaican jerk chicken was awesome- the sauce on the side, not sure what it was, was like nothing I've had before! The seafood chowder was the best I've ever had. We got lucky and were able to snag dinner seats for Memorial Day weekend! The atmosphere was beautiful -- the variations in paint color were descriptive of a coastal town with a funky twist. I got the pork marsala and my partner got the seafood linguine. The pork was soft, juicy, succulent and easy to carve. The potatoes, gravy, and vegetables reminded me of home cooking. Sure....the steak was good. Tender. Cooked to perfection. Sure....the chowder was far better than the fishy porridge at Mo's. Sure....the appetizers were creative and delicious. Blah, blah, blah. Let's face it, Tiki is all about atmosphere, and nothing sets the right atmosphere like top shelf rums, and freshly squeezed juices poured into a large glass. Only thing missing, in my opinion, were some nice cream of coconut based drinks. Not Coco Lopez (which is okay for some things) but real coconut cream. Otherwise, highly satisfying. Husband & I just returned from our first overnight stay in Cannon Beach (a Saturday in mid-February). The gentleman at the front desk of the Hallmark Inn recommended we try CTTH and we're so glad we did! Called ahead to let 'em know we'd be in at 7:00. They don't take reservations for small parties, but they'd do their best to seat us. Our wait was minimal - the place was VERY busy (and small, as others mentioned). Staffing consisted of the chef, a server and the bartender who also served. The cocktail list looked amazing - lots of fun, unique beverages - we had trouble choosing. Oddly, their Dark & Stormy isn't normally made with ginger beer (one of the two ingredients in the drink!), but they had some and added it to my husband's drink. (Thanks!!!) While the appetizers sounded fabulous, we feared not being able to finish all our food, so we stuck to entrees. We LOVED our meals (jambalaya and wagyu beef special) - took half home for lunch the next day. We split a rather large brownie dessert. Ambience was nice - low light, wooden masks on the walls, tropical theme. . .we LOVED the artwork on loan from White Bird behind the bar. Neither of us are fans of reggae music, so that got old fast. Some other late 50's swinging tiki music would've been better. We'll definitely return next time we visit Cannon Beach. read more

This was a nice find. Wish the TV wasn't there but that sadly seems to be more normative. Yelp reviews lead us well with this little shop. We stopped in for a quick dinner of seafood chowder- WHICH ROCKED LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS! - and a pork chop Marsala over dynamic mashed potatoes. The chop itself (like the actual piece of meat) was no special thing but everything else on the plate made up for it. Did I mention the chowder ROCKED LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS?! If you only eat at one place in Cannon Beach this should be it! The bartender makes all the drinks from scratch and they have some unusual combinations. My favorite was the chili pineapple Margarita. It had just the right amount of spice and you wont be able to have just one.. We tried several appetizers and each had a main course. Castaways is a true jem. We make sure to stop every time we visit Cannon Beach. On our last coast visit, we enjoyed our first night at the restaurant so much that we came back the next night too. Colin, Megan and Josh were friendly, welcoming and engaged our young boys with conversations about the Trail Blazers and Superheroes. The filet mingon was perfect and the special lamb tacos were so flavorful. The food is quality food but beyond that, every dish was seasoned to perfection. The Louisiana Mop and jambalaya were perfectly spicy and full of flavor. Our young boys loved the fritters and fried ravioli and their blueberry limeade "mocktails" were a huge hit. We couldn't ask for anything more from a restaurant: friendly & engaging staff, quality, flavorful food with a warm and welcoming environment. We will be back again and again! read more

We decided to give this place a try Saturday night and were put off by the attitude of the server/hostess at the front of the house. The entrance opens up to a small waiting area between the dining area and kitchen. If you have more than one small party waiting for a table it becomes a challenging environment to maneuver through. I noticed this upon entering and tried to usher my family to wait outside after placing our name on the list. Before I could utter a word the server rudely told us we needed to get out of the way. There is a polite and impolite way, her delivery suggested she was trained by the staff at Auschwitz. Upon leaving I heard one of the chefs ask what events transpired and the server lied indicating she had asked us to move. Her dialogue did not include any questioning only evidence of an ill-mannered wait staff. read more

SO. GOOD! I noticed a lot of other reviews mentioned Castaways is not kid-friendly, so I was nervous bringing my 5-month-old in. It couldn't have been further from the truth! Yes, it's a nice restaurant. But our daughter was quiet (for the most part!) and the wait staff was AMAZING (in general, but also to her!) The owner came around to ask about our experience, the food, and even "chatted" with our little one. Our waiter specifically (bummed we didn't catch his name!) was engaging, funny and knowledgeable. I have an egg allergy and he knew exactly what was in each dish and was considerate about the situation. The food was amazing, they had great prices and the whole staff was kind. Dinner was AMAZING!!! My husband and I both had the Wagyu beef (hubby added the crab) and it was DELICIOUS - we cleaned our plates. My picky 8 year old got the Jamaican jerk chicken and substituted the mashed potatoes (instead of rice) and said it was the best meal he'd ever had at a restaurant (lol).
