Elevated cuisine. Casual spacious dining space. Good humored, attentive waitress. And it is located a little ways off of the main tourist street. It was relaxing to get away from the hoards.

They should make it easier to get a reservation. We liked the vibe of the place. The service attentive. We ordered the lobster bisque 5/5, bone in pork chop 5/5, creole etouffee 2.5/5 (too much roux flavor). Although I appreciated the quantity of the seafood in the dish, a lower price and normal to étouffée. We had a dessert 4/5.

Our waitress was very sweet. We ordered the coconut shrimp which was a little dry but good flavor. Étouffée was flavorful but a little too saucy for us. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked though. Great wine list and cocktail options.

    Best lobster bisque ever!!

This gem of a restaurant is a must every time we come to Cannon Beach! The staff and chef are amazing! The changing menu never disappoints and the good options always make it hard to choose what to order! Everything is excellent! Call ahead for reservations because it fills up fast...you won't be disappointed.

Yummy yummy! Traveled in without reservations. Must be our day, we called they had a cancellation and we were in. Best meal to date in our OR travels - Bend, Nye Beach/Newport. We had Lobster Bisque, Etoufee, and Salmon. Everything was prepared perfectly, nicely balanced seasoning, and so flavorful. The atmosphere and service were smart, classy and comfy. Doubt we'll top this place.

My partner and I came here on a busy Saturday night and was informed there was over an hour wait. We placed our name down and walked next door for a quick drink. When it was our time, we walked back and was quickly seated. The space was very cute! We ordered and just chatted for a bit and the crab cakes came out first. It was so fast! But the best part, the crab cakes were amazing! The cakes were filled with Dungeness crabs! It was in every single bite. Our main entree came out soon after. I ordered the Seafood etoufee and my partner ordered the steak. The etoufee was amazing! Every spoon was full of seafood and the level of spice was no joke. I ordered level 4 and it was amazing. The spice took the dish to another level. However, my partner said his steak was a bit underwhelming for the price point; but the mashed potatoes and vegetables were good. We also ordered a warmed triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream to share. That dish alone was delicious. We will definitely come back the next time we are in town.

Been sleeping on this spot! Get a reservation now if you're in town. Their menu features creole and cajun dishes which are SO FLAVORFUL. Prices might seem high but you definitely get your money's worth. Quality seafood at a great quantity. We shared the Scallops and Polenta that came on a bed of this uniquely buttery and popcorn-y sauce. Both the scallops and polenta were cooked to crispy perfection. A rich dish but I would have loved to have one more. For mains, we tried the Jerk Back Ribs and Etuofee. The Back Ribs were big and juicy. Fall of the bone tender and covered in fruity sauce, paired with the sauteed vegetables and mango salsa this was delightful and filling. For the Etuofee, you can select the spiciness from 1-4. We're craving some heat and went with four and it did not disappoint. In hindsight, three would have suffice even for us who love spicy food but it's still so flavorful and addicting. Again, tons of big prawns, scallops, and crab legs covered in tasty sauce served with basmati rice. This was an amazing meal with such unique flavors, we didn't expect from a spot at the beach. Staffs were also so friendly. We'll definitely be back!

SO good!! Delicious food and great service. All the dishes cooked perfectly with amazing flavors. Super chill and cozy atmosphere makes the experience even better. This place is such a gem, don't miss it. Will definitely be back :)

    ISLAND STYLE CHICKEN SALAD CUPS

(The pictures are collected throughout the years) Overall- It's been 4+ years of coming here at least once each visit to Canon Beach. Sometimes back to back nights since there are multiple entrees (beef stroganoff and étouffée) that we enjoy. They also change the menu quite often. This restaurant is a bit more pricey but by far our favorite in the area and worth every penny. The chef has an amazing way of using spices to bring the dishes to the next level. The service is super friendly and they make you feel like you are going over to a friend's place to have an amazing meal. Food - - Appetizers: 1) Crab cakes are a must. It's a nice portion and comes with an amazing flavorful sauce (got a kick to it). 2) island style chicken salad cups. 3) lobster bisque is silky and flavorful . - Entrees: 1) étouffée is a spicy (flavorful and has a kick if you choose to have a higher spice level) hearty dish filled with large chunks of different seafood on a bed of perfectly cooked rice. 2) beef stroganoff (only closer to fall) is a hug on a cold night. The beef is so soft it melts in your mouth. 3) their steak dish (different cuts depending on the night) with the red wine demi sauce. The red wine is light and helps bring out the steak flavor without being overpowering. Dessert - only tried the brownie since most of the time we are stuffed after the appetizers and entrees.

    Ask the Community - Castaways

Do you guys take reservations or can you call ahead for a party of 6?

In my experience making reservations far in advance is your safest and best bet. With the popularity of Castaways I certainly don't like to risk not having one.

Served with rice and cabbage. All very flavorful and well portioned. Couldn't pass up trying several Pies. The beef patty was solid...but that Jerk Chicken is SOOOOO good, it was the Chicken patty that edged out above the veggie and beef. All were baked with the best patty crust any hand pie could offer. We're going back and this time we're bringing the girls because the other folks dining there were raving about the Ox tail. Wife loves Ox tail and we had no room in our belly to give it a go. Also, recommend the Watermemlon juice. It was perfect with the spices of the Jerk Chicken.

The manager came out and said rudely, "nobody ever has complained about the food", where our table then had to pipe in to say, "we haven't had our turn yet to tell you our burger is inedible". She looked at our table, did not acknowledge us, stated to the other patrons, "fine, you want the whole meal comped? FINE!" The waitress was so lovely that we weren't going to make a big deal, but after seeing how terribly the manager acted towards the other table with valid complaints, I asked for the inedible items to be removed from my tab. We made sure that the waitress received a tip that reflected the tab if it had included the removed items, and I vowed to never return.
