I added a picture for reference. We didn't have any special requests for the new deck so it was a standard deck replacement project. Estimates: Dmitriy came out soon after we contacted Open Space Design. He had good suggestions on how to tweak the layout of the new deck to move the stairs to a better place. The estimate provided was right around what we expected to pay. We got other estimates but the other decking companies we tried didn't really listen to our requests for simplicity, and as such, their estimates were much higher. Build: It was about a month or so from estimate to build which was quick. Jose and his crew were great. From soup to nuts, I think they completed the project in about a week. The weather was typical for Seattle this time of year, sunny one minute and pouring the next, but they kept on going all day long regardless. I couldn't be happier with the look and quality of the new deck. You can tell when people are experts in their craft. If I ever need a new deck, I will be calling Dmitriy again.

I also needed the width of the gate widened because originally they made the opening too narrow, so they were able to widen the opening before the rest of the fence was installed. I appreciate them checking with me halfway through the project. A few weeks ago one of the posts was failing I put in a warranty claim. They came out quickly and replaced it. In the end, we decided to move forward with Cool Cat and had a pretty decent experience with them. Yes, they're a bit more pricey than some others but we felt like overall the quality seemed better. The communication was a little spotty in the sense of being bounced around from project managers throughout the process. I don't believe the PM we were speaking with was there during fence installation. I'm thankful that they were pretty responsive with us when we had questions. In the end they did a great job and were happy with the fence. They worked quickly and efficiently and didn't leave a mess thankfully. They installed a turnbuckle for our gate which was a nice addition too. Gene was the main guy for the project and he did a great job!

Josh and Jake are a two-man dynamic duo. They efficient, intelligent, very honest and polite. They totally "remade" our small, inefficient bathroom. They tore it down to the studs, moved a window to create a beautiful shower, and turned the room into a functional work of art. And they did it on budget! We hit a snag because my hubby wanted cultured marble for the shower and Josh does tile (as in our beautiful heated floor). We chose a lower bid, (our mistake) and the guys didn't know how to cut the shower window and niche properly. When Josh saw the poor quality work he got right on the phone and let them know (in no uncertain terms), their work would have to be redone! It was all fixed to our satisfaction. Jake was here when they came back to supervise. Josh and Jake do top quality work and don't put up with subcontractor folly. But they graciously bear with clients who sometimes "overreact." Here's why: - Vitaliy was exceptionally clear, punctual, and spoke in facts (he was not at all sales-y). - He did what he said he'd do (call me back, or prepare an estimate) when he said he'd do it. From the first interaction, it was clear he has high integrity. - Vitaliy noticed critical details (such as the fact that none of my windows had flashing!) that nobody else documented in quotes or discussed with me. - And, his responses to my questions were patient and thorough. Vitaliy helped me understand all the aspects of the project and design choices, which helped me feel confident and supported. And then the work began! - Slavic and Alex were assigned to my project and wow - they are exceptionally skilled and hard working! - Slavic and Alex have great attention to detail. The siding work is very precise and they made simple and beautiful enhancements along the way (like swapping out old and poorly installed vents). - Rot was discovered under a stairway off my kitchen, and I decided to have the staircase rebuilt. It is beautiful. They even noticed that the original staircase had a weird drop off from the interior floor and corrected that so there's now a seamless landing that is much safer and easier to use. The work Slavic and Alex did on this part of the build is as high quality as their siding work. - The work site was always SUPER tidy. Slavic and Alex took great care to clean up as they worked, paid attention to simple details like ensuring nails were picked up and that hose covers were back on (winter months), and they were very respectful of the driveway which I share with my neighbors. - Throughout the installation, Vitaliy kept me updated via text, phone calls, and site visits. I always knew where things stood and what degree of rot was uncovered (or not) at the end of a demolition day. The level and consistency of communication was outstanding. This is the biggest home project I have ever tackled, and it was by far the easiest. And that is because of Vitaliy, Slavic, and Alex.
