Looks like they have a rental space for parties which is cool. Service: we waiting for awhile in front, and was confused by the process of how we were supposed to be seated. It wasn't that busy when we got there, but when we left, they had a hostess up front. Food: monfongo wasn't bad, the chimichurri had more grease than I was expecting. Also, it doesn't come with a side, for $15 it probably should. We liked the queen's board, but there was only one ball of the fried goat cheese. Faijitas was good, cooked well, beans tasted weird. Extras: has a decent sized parking lot. The woman's bathroom SUCKS. There isn't a changing table in the one closest to the main dining hall. Our waitress was not very pleasant. She never smiled. We had party of 5. It wasn't the mexican I am used to because there was no basket of chips and salsa. So it's Spanish and they don't do that? We waited a very long time for our food. My husband and I were served first before the others in my party. The others had to wait about another 10 minutes. I couldn't eat yet because I felt I would b done before the others got their food. The whole table should b served all at the same time. My aunt asked the waitress why. We were told there was only one cook that day. Of course I drank all my drink. My husband asked for more for both of us. She filled his drink first and he had to ask again that she fill mine. WORST RESTAURANT IVE EVER BEEN TO!!! Me and my family of 5 had came in after seeing all the reviews online about how good this place was. We walked in and no hostess was there to greet us, once she finally came she said there was a 10 minute wait. So we waited, no problem. As she's walking us to our table she then proceeded to tell us that she didn't have enough menus for everyone and handed us one menu, for 5 people. At least 10 minutes go by and out comes our server, he gave us no introduction made it seem like we weren't welcomed, very vague. He then proceeds to give us glasses of water and asks as if we know what we wanted to drink. We gave him our drink orders and he walked off. Once he comes back with our drinks at the time we didn't notice but all of our glasses were DIRTY. We couldn't tell because the lighting was very dim and we could only see with the sun shining through an open door. We then have to ALL order off of the ONE menu the entire time. The menu wasn't very specific so i had gotten tostones with steak. After we finish ordering it takes them a little over an HOUR for our food to come out and they put this sauce all over my food. I was not aware they did that because if I had i would've told them NO sauce. I did not read on the menu where it said that it came with sauce. I was very disappointed, we did not have a good time their service was poor. Before I left i had used that restroom, I walk in and it smelled like bodily fluids. The atmosphere here is wonderful. Castle by the water, has a little moat and is just overall super cute and fun. The food is so-so (and the chips were stale) but the thing that makes me not want to return is the service. The waitstaff is super nice and friendly but seem inexperienced. It's slow service even when not crowded and we had a really strange incident occur - discussed it with the front and back managers and they did try to rectify. I'm hoping that as they gain some experience it becomes better but I don't anticipate coming back or recommending this place in the short term. read more

Food bland and server brought out kids meal before appetizers served. Calamari portion was incredibly dismal and disappointing. Fried ice cream was like a ball of concrete. I recently dined at Castle Cantina at the suggestion of one of my two dinner guests. Located right on the water in Leicester, the building and concept initially caught my eye -- a Latin Fusion Tapas Bar & Restaurant set in a castle-themed space is certainly unique. Unfortunately, the food and overall experience didn't quite live up to expectations. We arrived on a quiet Tuesday evening and were seated on the patio, which offered a peaceful setting and a pleasant view. The lighting was natural daylight at that time, with string lights overhead suggesting it could be lovely at night. The decor inside leans heavily into a European castle motif; interesting, but oddly disconnected from the Latin or Mexican theme I expected. Inside, the music was surprisingly loud and the dining room completely empty. Thankfully, the patio offered some calm. Service was prompt, but not particularly warm or attentive. We started with chips and queso dip. It was... fine. Not memorable, but we finished it. For mains, I had the Carne Asada, while my guests ordered Pulpo a la Gallega and Carnitas Tacos. They seemed satisfied with their dishes, though I sampled the Pulpo and found it bland and unremarkable. My own Carne Asada was a letdown; the beef was stringy, tough, and lacked seasoning. The beans were overly liquid, and I had to mix them with the rice just to get some texture and flavor. The temperature was lukewarm at best. Presentation also felt off. My meal came on a small wooden plank that didn't seem designed for practicality; food kept sliding around, and I was constantly nudging things back on the board. Meanwhile, my guests' meals were served on proper plates. The Carnitas Tacos looked fine; the Pulpo had a more refined presentation of one octopus tentacle stretching out from a a single scoop of massed potatoes... We didn't try cocktails or dessert, so I can't speak to those. The bill came to $92 (before tip) for the three of us; no alcohol, just entrees and two shared appetizers that did simply tease our appetite. In my opinion, that felt steep given the quality. I often find Mexican or Latin fusion spots pricey for what is often mostly rice and beans, and this was no exception. To be honest, I wouldn't return or recommend Castle Cantina, especially when compared to other regional spots like Luna in Acton, which offers much better quality and value. read more

The room, as one would expect because of the design, was very echo-y. This wouldn't have been too bad, but the music they had on, which was good, was far too loud. We were nervous when we a musician (guitarist) came in and set up because most seem to believe that volume = good. We were pleasantly surprised that he played and sang at a reasonable volume. He was good. It took quite some time for our drinks to be ordered... then delivered. By time our tapas (appetizers) arrived, we had already seen a few couples come in, eat, & leave. Our service was painfully slow. The beef empanadas were delicious and couldn't have been better. After another (ridiculous) wait, our main course was served. The salmon was delicious and cooked to perfection. However, the mashed potatoes & asparagus sides on the same plate, while tasty, were cold all the way through. The fajita fixings were served on what was supposed to have been a sizzling dish, but it was luke warm, at best. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and perfectly hot. Served on a separate plate were the rice and beans, both of which were steaming hot and flavorful. In summary: The drinks were all great, mixed properly, and well balanced. The food, while delicious, was not portioned onto the plates together at the time of serving, so the temperatures were mostly inappropriate. Stopped in for an impromptu visit for dinner. Our server took an uncomfortable amount of time to greet us. We watched as three other servers went past us several times and no one stopped to say hello, or I'll be right with you. Finally the hostess came back out and apologized for the wait and to tell us our server would be right with us. It still was a little bit of a wait before someone came over. We ordered a couple of tapas to share, and had to track the server down again for napkins and silverware. We were surprised at how small the portion of nachos were. We asked for no guacamole and the sour cream on the side. It came out with guacamole on the side and no sour cream. They also did not have anything on top but lettuce and cheese on top of about 9 chips. The quesadillas were large enough to share. The food was just okay. What a great place to find! We were the only customers for a while this afternoon as I'm sure people were waiting until later for their big New Years eve party. The place is as unique as can be. The staff was super attentive and fast of course because we were the only ones there at the time. I'm guessing that it would be the same even if the place was full. The food came amazingly fast and was surprisingly wonderful. I expected "Americanized' Spanish food and what I got was REAL Spanish food as I'd get if I were in Barcelona. Our waiter was right on the ball and brought each serving out rapidly as we went though 5 courses of Tapas and a Paehla before desert. Drinks were super also. Very good flight of Margarita's to play with. Zero complaints on this visit and hopefully many future visits. The pros of Castle Cantina is that the patio and ambiance are absolutely beautiful and makes for an interesting dining out experience. Also, all the employees and servers were super nice and attentive which is so rare nowadays! The drinks and tapas were great (looking at you fried goat cheese!) however, the entrees were awful. I got the sirloin steal and it lacked any type of flavor and was very rubbery. My fiancées fajitas also had no flavor, not even salt. I was so disappointed because I wanted to love it there and come back, but the only way we will be back is for drinks/tapas at sunset or if the cooks get their act together. We ate at Castle Cantina while visiting family in Worcester, Massachusetts. The restaurant is built of stone like an old castle and the atmosphere is quite festive. There are several rooms including the entry and a bar where you can eat. The main dinning room is large with many tables--busy but not crowded. We were greeted warmly and taken to a table for four in the main dining room. The servers came quickly and explained the menu and the dining process. We chose "dining for 4" which in included a selection of tapas plates, a charcuterie board, and paella. This was plenty of food and cost $170. We added a pitcher of sangria. This gave us good variety and plenty of food. The sangria was good and refreshing. Service was attentive and we had a good time. I would return again if I got the chance. read more

This place is a disaster. Although the building has great character, the staff is unorganized and inefficient. My wife and I arrived for a reservation at 7:30, were seated but no wait staff approached our table for 1/2 hr. I complained to the hostess and she apologized and got a waiter to take our order at 8:10. We were told that drinks would come "very quickly" but that the kitchen was backed up and it would take a while for food. We waited until 8:40 to inquire as to when our drinks would come and we were told to be patient. At 8:50 we asked another wait person to get us some chips and queso which came 10 minutes later. At 9:30 we still hadn't received our drinks and I said "that's it. We're outta here". My wife was disappointed because she ordered lobster tail and loves seafood and didn't want to leave. We had an hour and a 1/2 drive home and I was angry so I could wait. There was still no visibility to get food so I told the hostess that I wanted to pay for the chips and queso we had been served. She disappeared for a couple of minutes and told us (after apologizing profusely) that the snack was on the house. I will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

This time with Nelson, our server in the lounge, who seemed bothered that I didn't know Spanish, felt it appropriate to keep correcting me with pronunciation of the menu items, was not pleasant at all. He herded us into the lounge giving the impression he was desperate for customers and then treats us like chopped liver, which, by the way, is not even on the menu. When asked about the manager Pierre, who was so friendly on our last visit a couple weeks ago, Nelson said he didn't know who I was talking about. I guess management changes fast in these parts. The food was sub-par, I asked for bread instead of chips with the guacamole. He said no. Drinks were good. The atmosphere is interesting. Personally I would recommend being in an interior decorator to give it more of a brighter/more colorful ambiance. The back patio is also great!
