Once again our expectations were exceeded at Castle Falls. We love this hidden gem of a restaurant. I tried something new tonight - the medallions of beef with a mushroom peppercorn sauce. It was excellent. I went to culinary school, so I have a keen appreciation for a top notch chef and this kitchen knows what it's doing. All three in my party loved their dinner. Our server was attentive, friendly and very professional. The atmosphere is lovely, cozy and nostalgic. We loved it so much we are taking our Mom tomorrow night for a pre-Mother's Day dinner. *UPDATE* We at there again tonight (Saturday). We took our Mom for Mother's Day. We all tried something different. I had the grilled salmon and roasted Brussels sprouts with rice and this lemon sauce that was fantastic. Mom had the Beef Stroganoff and it was very unique and delicious and my husband had the lobster linguine and loved it. my son and I did the Mother's Day brunch. The description said it was a chef inspired brunch. We paid $128 with tax. The food was not fresh, the sausage they put in my omelette, came out of a bag, they had a processed ham instead of a real ham. The only thing I could tell that was not processed was the bacon for $128 I would expect it food made by the chef not processed crap like he would get it Denny's. read more

Setting is Beautiful. The ambience is very romantic. However, we found difficulty finding the door to get into the place because there are several buildings and there were no signs guiding you, especially at night.. My boyfriend decided to take me here for an early Valentine's Day dinner. With great surprise, this was such a cute place. The outside entry area was lit up all the way to the castle doors. But it kinda went downhill from there. The room we were in was quite small. We were seated in the corner; which i didn't mind at all. But we were close enough to hear every part of the neighboring tables conversation from the corner we were tucked away in. I usually wouldn't mind it but I started to notice their service was better than ours. Here's why: 1. they were offered complimentary appetizers 2. I had to ask for water refills (she refilled the other table without question) 3. never came to get our check but chatted with the next table in passing... I'm not sure what we did to deserve the neglect but I have to give two thumbs down for the poor customer service. As for the food, I highly enjoyed it. We started with the sausage cheese board, simple enough and paired well with the wines. We also ordered a salad which I never got (but when I asked about it after getting my entree, she said they made it and will just pack it for me. Not sure why it was so delayed coming out...!!) We split the pork tenderloin and it was great. Cooked to perfection and seasoned well. It came on a bed of sweet caramelized onions. We had a side of crab cakes and it came in two pieces. We ended the night with bread pudding. It was drizzled with chocolate. I give this 2 stars. It was edible but not freshly made. I could've gone without it. Overall, my experience was mediocre. This was definitely a romantic spot! However, my boyfriend and I have learned that any time we try somewhere new, we know that our service won't be that great. Our waitress was very sweet, however it took an extremely long time for us to get our food! There were three tables that arrived between 15-20 minutes after us and my boyfriend and I ordered our food way before them...but we received our food after them! The food was delicious. In fact, my boyfriend devoured his entire meal and both waitresses working that night said multiple times that he "is the only person they've ever seen finish their meal." Not sure if this was a compliment to him or what, but the food was very delicious. Dined here on a Saturday evening in Jan. Not too crowded but we ate early 5:30 PM. Decor dark with a fake fireplace that had a bulb lit behind it and looked a little tired. It does have a nice quiet atmosphere. I ordered the Lobster and Linguini, not a fan at all, too bland and dry with very little sauce. Two of our party ordered the Beef Stroganoff and both enjoyed the flavor although one felt it was too heavy on the mushrooms and light on the meat. Other party satisfied with it. Another ordered the Ribeye and cleaned his plate! The stroganoff dishes and the lobster and linguini were served on large flat plates so didn't look too appealing ~ all thinned out and spread over those large plates. It also cooled very quickly on those big plates. They would be much better served in pasta bowls..... Service was good! read more

I've lived in OKC my entire life and never knew this little gem existed!?!? So long story short. They let my in-laws entire family 10+ people along with 6 kids under 6 do a photo shoot here.... provided we eat dinner there. FYI they normally don't recommend young children at their place. They made an exception for us. The staff was AMAZING. They were super nice and accommodating. I wanted to hug them for all the extra work they had to do because we had young chowder with us. I had the ribeye and ate every bite..... it's unique.... it's a beautiful location... totally recommend this place to anyone who wants a romantic dinner (don't bring the kids) read more

First off, if you're looking for somewhere special to go, this is THE place. Atmosphere. A "10". Location? Crazy convenient, but you feel like you drove 40 miles away.It's beautiful. Food? Everyone in our group agreed, some of the best we ever had. Service? I can't even begin to describe it. EVERYTHING flowed. Our greeting, our seating, beverages, timing of appetizers, drinks kept full, smiles, smiles, smiles!! Food was right on time, and we visited past closing time. We were there nearly 2 hours, never even noticed the time!! What does that tell ya? Oh yeah, dessert. GET IT!! Willow was the best server I've ever experienced. No, it's not cheap. This hidden jewel is amazing and worth the search! Where to start? So much to say about this lovely restaurant! The flavors on each entree have a beautiful combination and the portions are ample. The pork chops were topped with very subtle apples and on a bed of scalloped potatoes and light onions in an incredible sauce surrounding the grilled chops. My husband had the filet which he said was cooked and seasoned to perfection but he only ate about a quarter of it because he couldn't stop eating the lobster topping. He said there was so much lobster that it was enough for an entree itself. He orders lobster bisque anytime it's in the menu and said this was the best he can remember having. I ordered a salad and was wary of the grilled onion ranch dressing but I loved it! We sat outside in the picturesque garden but went inside and saw some of the OKC artifacts from the sad unfortunate urban renewal debacle. Although I am a life long OKC girl, I had never heard of this place. So happy to have stumbled onto our new favorite place! Oh.... And the prices are so very reasonable! Ask for Nina! My Grandpa says that smart people change their minds. I agree, but I also think that smart business owners change their style when the original plan is lacking. Castle Falls falls into this group, as I went there a year ago and had a less than pleasant experience, returned last month and was very impressed. The menu is less German, more European now. Great appetizer selection, although the bread they bring is a great start to the meal too. The setting is intimate, quiet, and the grounds make you feel like you've stepped out of the city. I am glad that they lightened up the place, literally, so it doesn't feel dark and solemn. Although my salmon wasn't cooked the way I typically prefer, the flavor was good and the portion was ample. Everyone in my party (3 couples) enjoyed their entrees, and each one I sampled was really good. The price point, wine list, setting, and uniqueness of it all make it a great date place. I am happy to say that the changes Castle Falls have made me change my mind-- guess that makes me smart! read more

First, this restaurant is located in the legitimate "hood"! So, just be careful about that. Second, the property is nice, it was actually set up for a wedding when we were there. There are two or three buildings if I remember correctly, and the restaurant is in one of them. It's an old house ("castle?"), and we were seated upstairs in a cramped room. The room had three dining tables (4 tops I believe), along with a whole bunch of other decorations and side tables and things. It was cramped. It was nice when we were the only couple in there, but then there was another couple that was seated in our room and it was a little awkward because you could hear everything the other people were saying, and vice versa. The food was average, nothing special. We ordered a meat/cheese/vegetable plate to start, and maybe I'm just a cheese plate snob, but it wasn't great. We both ordered steaks with salads and sides, and it also came with dessert, and it was enough food for a 18th century army (probably the one trying to storm the "castle" haha). I have dined here twice in the past two years, and my latest visit was wonderful. I'm happy to say this because I never thought I'd go here again after my first visit. The first time was very lacking in many regards to say the least, but the owners of this business made some changes and have turned the restaurant around 180 degrees into the right direction. The service this last time was fantastic, and we could not have been happier. The grounds of this quaint little restaurant are very beautiful, and well kept. It looks like a great place for a venue, but I cannot really speak to that, since I have only dined at Castle Falls. The restaurant itself is very romantic, and the food was very good. I did enjoy the food the first time I dined there, but it was overpriced for what I got at that time. Now I can say that it is worth the price, and that I savored every bite on my plate. I had the Jaegar Steak and it was fantastic. The sauce was delicious, and the potatoes were tasty too! I tried some of my friends dishes and they were good as well. I can say that I'm very happy that Castle Falls has made some changes, because it has changed my mind. I am definitely returning to this restaurant. The people and waitstaff were really nice and the food was delicious. I will admit, I recently moved to Oklahoma City January 2015 for my new job and am new to everything around here. My partner came into town to visit me and I was a little nervous about our relationship out in Oklahoma after reading on the state laws and everything. I lived in California all my life, and Florida the last four years so a gay relationship was not a big deal. I was a little scared of being turned away at the restaurant when we walked in after hearing so many stories online. I was very surprised that we were very welcomed there and they treated us no differently. Back to the food, everything was delicious though the bread they served us tasted a little old. The antipasti wasn't that great, but my steak was phenomenal and cooked to perfection. I did however regret my choice of meal as the sauce on my steak wasn't my thing. My partner's stroganoff steak was excellent and made me wish I had what he was having instead. The place was a little cramp and only had about 8 tables. The ceiling was also kind of low too so be aware in case you are claustrophobic. I'd compare the ceiling to that of a standard cruise ship cabin. So it's not that low but with the lights dimmed, it gave it a much lower feeling. I'd definitely recommend this place for a date. It's the perfect romantic dinner. read more

Its...fine. We did the Valentines day experience and honestly all the food was good/okay. But for almost 150 per person I expected something more. The appetizer (Bruschetta) could do some work in terms of presentation and like I said, it was fine, but nothing was SUPER good. The bread was hard and it did not seem fresh, but tasted fine with the soup. They did not have a drinks/cocktails menu which I found odd but that doesn't really matter since the server said they had a complete bar. They also double the price for bottles of wines so I would steer away from it(a $15 bottle costs $30, a $40 turns into $80), although this just might be normal for most restaurants. The inside of the place doesn't look as good as I expected, everything looks as if an old house was turned into a restaurant in a not very planned out way. There is no female/male bathrooms everybody uses the same restroom. If you're looking for something super special and memorable for a holiday or something I wouldn't go here. If the $150 price per person seems reasonable for an okay meal then no problem. The problem with the overall inside of the restaurant might be the decoration/patterned carpet, so in the future I would most likely replace those with something without a pattern. Overall everything was okay, but not worth the price when you can go to places like Vast or Nonesuch for almost the same price and better food/ambience. As a final note I will say that Amy (the owner) shouldn't really be arguing with some bad reviews on here (there is one where she blatantly mentions how much a customer tipped in response to a bad review), as much as she might be correct in some situations, which I wouldn't know because I wasn't there, its really not the most professional thing to do and it looks really bad for prospective customers reading them. read more

Our friends celebrated 39 years of marriage recently, and invited us to meet them at Castle Falls for dinner. I am glad they did! There were six of us, and we were seated on the second floor, in what I think is called the Primrose. Van was our server. She kept us informed, as well as busy on food and drink. We started with Crab Cakes and a Charcuterie Plate, and that's where the "yum" began. We moved from there to Chef Dave's Lobster Bisque. After that, how could anyone have room for the Sea Bass and Lobster and Linguini that we ordered? (I need to point out here that the menu said the Lobster dish had asparagus tips in it---not my husband's. Sliced asparagus stalks were a little tough.) We found a little room, but had to leave more room for the yummy bread pudding and chocolate mousse desserts. (Thank goodness for doggie bags!) This building has quite a history, dating back to its construction in 1945. It is gorgeous! I will say that when we opened the door that night to enter the restaurant, it was rather dark, and my immediate sense was not that of fine dining. Staff was there to help us find our area and table. Been there a few times over the years and had good food and service. They rejected a gift card someone had purchased from there and given to me as a thank you gift. Their excuse was that they had some personnel changes between the time the gift card was issued and when I tried to use it. Might as well as lit the $100 up in flames. So disappointed. Went here with the wife and step daughter, for a special occasion. This place looks like something out of the hobbit, a small bungalow as you pill in the parking lot. Then you move around a corner and it gets much larger. You have to have a reservation, the call and time it takes to make one. The place is clean from the door to the table you will see no trash. The lighting is perfect for a dinner, lowered but not too low. You can see your food perfectly. There are a limit amount of tables, but there is room to stretch out a little while eating. The wait staff is amazing, so quick to make sure you are enjoying your experience, or at least happy to be there. No matter what it is the staff is there to assist, and more than happy to show you around the place. I will go here many more times to come. 5 star all the way on this one. read more

Outstanding! The food was fresh, delicious and perfectly prepared. A feast for the senses! We dined on the Primrose level (prix fixes menu where you choose only the entree) 5 course meal. Phil let Chef Dave choose between lobster Mac and cheese and lobster linguine (he was served a decadent lobster Mac and cheese) and I had the Mediterranean Sea bass over quinoa and greens. While the lobster Mac and cheese was delicious, luxurious and rich rich rich; my sea bass was the star! We started with a crab cake served over greens with a poblano cream sauce; followed by a lobster bisque (ummmm, daaaaayyymmmm!!!!!) Next we had a grilled Caesar salad (the Caesar dressing is NOT an imposter!) Next was the main course (mentioned above) and capped off with a chocolate gateau with raspberry coulis. They have a lovely wine list (we had a nicely priced La Crema Pinot noir) and a full bar (yaaaay TITO!) the service was attentive without being intrusive and the attention to detail with the courses from the back of house was wonderful. Attended Nina's Culinary Travels through Italy last Friday. These are special events that they do at Castle Falls every other month. I'd heard about previous ones, but was finally able to make it to this most recent event- SO glad that we did! It's really hard for me to pick one aspect of the meal that I really liked because everything was so good. My husband's grandmother was Italian and she used to make Gnocchis for some of their family gatherings. He was very impressed with these- I think they are the best I've ever had! They came with a breaded pork chop that was perfectly seasoned and very lightly breaded and eggplant. I'm not really a big fan of eggplant but it was delicious with the sauce. The salad and the Italian Wedding Soup were also excellent. Dessert was Tiramisu- I loved it so much I tried to steal my husband's! : ) We are definitely looking forward to the next one! In the meantime, we will be heading back to Castle Falls and trying out their regular menu, I think we've easily found one of our new favorite places in OKC! read more

This was a pretty cool spot! The food was great! I am a stickler on my drink getting refilled and it only got refilled once. The other gentleman working kept his tables up, but once mine emptied I did not get another refill for the rest of my visit. The area around the castle falls in kind of rough. I enjoyed our visit for the most part though and am excited to come back! And hopefully to visit more floors! (Today we were in the Cellar which is the general floor) read more

Came here for an anniversary dinner, so my review is of the restaurant portion of the property. I very much enjoyed our experience. The space is beautifully decorated in the "castle" theme; the dining area is quaint and romantic. I loved everything we ate. The menu currently has a German influence, but the options will appease all tastes. We started with the lobster bisque and charred Caesar salad. For entrees, we tried the Pork Tenderloin and Fromage Chicken. Both were delicious! The fig port wine demi on the pork added so much flavor. Added spatzle because I love it. We had my sister's wedding at Castle Falls in OKC. Overall, we really liked this place, but had some major panic attack moments that were a direct result of the internal communication problems at Castle Falls. The grounds are lovely for a wedding or private party - landscaping, flowing streams, flowering trellises, large patio areas with cute bistro tables - the works. The event hall is grand, with private rooms for the brides and grooms to get ready, and the restrooms are very clean and well stocked. My only caveat is that you need to outline everything in your rental agreement - we surprisingly encountered a MAJOR renovation just two weeks before our event by chance. The staff failed to mention they were doing this renovation when we booked, and the final result (although very pretty) was not what we had been told. Weddings and events are booked in the mid-day hours and in the evenings, an we were surprised to discover the meal we had ordered had not been prepared... But we happened to have the exact same meal the previous wedding had earlier in the day. Disappointing, and definitely a huge strike against Castle Falls. The wedding coordinator was able to write off the entire bar bill because of their mistake, yet failed to notice the mistake before we had pointed it out. Some where, some how the order we had placed and paid dearly for never made it into the hands of the chefs preparing the meals.... I'm speculating here, but it seems like they were hoping we'd simply eat the previous wedding's leftovers with out a complaint. Don't get me wrong, this venue was lovely and picturesque, but be sure to outline everything clearly in the contracts. Don't get burnt. read more

2 Stars is probably on the low side, but 3 stars seems optimistic. Filet was very good, as was the beer. Fish and wine left some to be desired. What really brings the rating down is this: The grounds and buildings are very neat... then we were seated in the basement. It was awkwardly quiet/arranged. We were too close to strangers to be romantic. Don't know when/if I'll be back, I think I'd be more inclined to have an event there than go back for dinner. read more
