I've heard of Castle Park for a long time, but it never crossed my mind to visit this place. Usually when I want to visit a theme park I'd choose Disneyland, Universal Studios or Legoland. Since Disneyland is crazy expensive now and the other ones aren't far behind, I wanted to find a place that's decent priced to attend. Castle Park suddenly popped into my head and I came on yelp to read the reviews. The low ratings kind of discouraged me to go, but I saw that they are currently running a promotion of $100 for 4 tickets that includes unlimited rides, mini golf and a parking pass. At $25 a person including parking, this sure beats paying an arm and a leg for Disneyland. I knew it could not compare to Disneyland, but I looked through they rides they have and found that most are something I would enjoy, plus the mini golf and the magic show. Before I bought the tickets, I made sure to check which rides were not operating and it was the log ride and merry go round. Ok, no problem I can live without riding those. I went on a Saturday morning and got there around 11:30. Buying tickets only saves sometime, but they do charge $1.50 convenience fee per ticket. They checked bags and you walk through metal detector. They only had 1 person doing that and took a few minutes because there was another group ahead of us. When we decided to walk around and find the rides we like. Walked by 3 rides, there was a sign that said it's not open today. Continued walking and found bumper cars, same sign that says it's not open. Walked by food places, it wasn't open. Walked by a few more rides and saw the same signs. Uh oh, did we just come on a bad day or what?? Why is everything not open? I stopped some workers and they told me that most of the rides open at noon. Whew!! I was about to go complain and ask for a refund if 90% of rides aren't open. So we decided to do mini golf first while we wait for the rides to open. There are 4 courses at mini golf. Courses 1 and 2 are the easier ones and courses 3 and 4 are more intermediate. We started at course 1 and spent about an hour. Then checked the watch and noticed it was almost 1 PM. We rushed out to the rides we wanted to ride and there were barely any lines. Basically you just walk right up and sit on the ride. Hey, I can't complain since this beats waiting an hour or more at Disneyland rides. We were able to go on quite a few rides before lunch. We decided to buy food at Duke's Frying Factory. It is located near the entrance of the park. I got 2 orders of the chicken tenders and fries. I had wanted to try Al's Big Top BBQ, but I didn't realize you had to go inside the restaurant to order, maybe next time I'll try it since the menu looked pretty good. So back to the chicken tenders, it took a while to get the food. I didn't have high hopes that it would taste good. I thought it was going to be hard and dry, but to my surprise the fries and chicken tenders were not hard, dry and overcooked. Although a little pricey at $12, it was surprisingly good (or we were just too hungry). After lunch, we went to some more rides but this time there were a lot more people and the lines are long. Most people like to come after 3 or 4 PM. Then we went back to mini golf to pick up where we left off and we had stayed till about 8pm and were able to finish course 2. By this time, the mini golf was packed, people were waiting for clubs I assume. Overall, it was an enjoyable day. The family 4 pack tickets were well worth it. This is a good deal if you have young kids that don't like to wait in long lines or if you enjoy rides and mini golf. I would definitely come back to finish courses 3 and 4 at mini golf. The park has its own Kevin the peacock. Don't miss him.. he's usually near the Railroad Express ride and the entrance to the arcade/mini golf TIPS: 1. Come early to avoid the crowds and long lines, but not when they just open unless you want to mini golf first. 2. Check their website to see which rides are under refurbishment. 3. Beginning May 6th, the park is going cashless. You can use debit card, credit card, apple pay, Google pay and Samsung pay. If you have cash, there will be a machine where you deposit money in and you will get a prepaid card with no fees. 4. Call and confirm if they will have magic show on the day you plan to attend. Ok, really?? This isn't Disneyland but the prices reflect an attempt to be something they are not. I haven't been here in 10 years or so. Took my grand baby for her first time. What a disappointment! It was a Saturday night and still 4 of the kiddie rides were closed! Even the antique car ride was shut down. Food and drink prices are outrageous for the lack of entertainment provided. Took my 13 year old son there with 6 of his friends for his birthday. It was good fun. Cheap and easy way to spend the day. Just know that all the workers there are in high school. Not a problem except for the BBQ restaurant in the big circus tent. God bless them, but they don't know wtf they're doing back there. No direction until I stood there and kept reminding them what I ordered (the hamburger family meal) and even had to direct them how to make it. Finally got to eat after nearly an hour after ordering. SMH Just note that you're better off eating a corn dog or at the little Pizza Hut spot. Miniature golf was great, just starting to get a little worn out. Didn't go in the arcade, but it looked cool. I had three years premium Disneyland annual passes (2013-2016) and decided not to renew this year. Disneyland for me, hubby and two paying kids, annual passes raking up to $4000 which is very expensive and everytime we got there we got so exhausted. Even walking from parking lot to pass security check, got into tram, got inside the park, already took half of our energy. Plus fighting for crowds inside, standing about 30 min each rides, we just finally had enough. So now we tried Castle Park. I used to go to La Sierra University in Riverside so I always passed by Castle Park but never went in. NowI have three kids (5,4,2), we went to Castle Park twice. First visit was last year during winter when Bucaneer Cove was close, the other one was about two days ago where Bucaneer Cove was open. Okay let me start. Entrance fee: -buy at the gate which is about $2 more -buy online through Castle Park website prices ranging for about $12-25) -buy from Costco online $39.99 for four admission and you got to choose two attractions. This is the cheapest and the one that I bought -parking fee is $10. $7 if you buy online Attractions divides in three areas; Park with rides, Bucaneer Cove, Mini golf with arcade area. The ticket applies for kids 3 feet and up. Pay attention to the info section when buying online. The Dukes Duo you can pick two items (rides and golf, rides and bucaneer, bucaneer and golf). They also have tickets for all three or for unlimited golf, etc. Rides: Yes, like what some helpers mentioned, some of the rides are closed, even the restaurant and most of the snacks stand. Some rides have one staff, so if this ride have customer then he will open that ride. And close it again, and he will open the ride next to it if theres another customer too. Which is fine by me. Both times when we went (I was by myself with three kids), it was so easy to walk around with stroller, my kids can go to whatever rides thats open, no lines. Either its only my kids or with one or two of other kids. It was wednesday so I dont know how its gonna be if its the weekend. I decided to took the kids here for Bucanner Cove. In my mind it was like super mini Great wolf lodge or something. I brought inflatables for my two yrs old, 3 swimming body vests for all 3 kids, and embarrasingly there was no pool!! So it was mainly slides with water spraying everywhere! Theres a place to order pizza etc but you have to stand in line. Last year when we went here we stood in line for about 20 min and it was only 4 people ahead of us, we finally just took off. The bucaneer cove also doesnt have food service so you have to go outside the area to buy pizza. Theres good amount of chairs around it but I assumed it wont be enough chairs for parents to sit around waiting for the kids to be done playing in the water and slides. Cabana rental is $30 if u bought it two days in advance. I saw only two cabanas rented out and the rest were empty and when I inquired of renting it, ofcourse the teen staff in the "swim" stand said "its all booked for the day" So I guess if you dont get it in advance, they just gonna close the rental on the day. We got in at 2 pm, we were back in the car at 5 pm. It was enough for couple rides, one hour at bucaneer, and some more rides then getting back in the car. Last year when we went here, I saw another dad actually carrying a big knife on his belt. So even thou I like Castle Park for the price and the cool rides for my small kids, Im not sure how safe it usually is. read more

If your thinking of coming here DON'T. Came in to have a good time with my family was here almost an hour after the park opened and all the rides didn't open till 2 HOURS LATER. Just standing around the sun nothing to do. And if you have small children you CANNOT RIDE THE GAMES WITH THEM. How do you let a 2/3 year old ride a game alone that hardly has working belts ??! I bought my 14 year old son a ticket to go to Castle Dark tonight. He planned on going with his 19 and 20 year old uncles and was turned away because his uncles weren't 21 and over. I called to speak to an employee because when you buy the tickets online, nowhere on that page does it say you have to have a chaperon, it DOES say though. Not recommended for 13 and under. When I asked the employee to walk me through where to find that rule on their site, he put me on hold to find it himself. You literally have to dive deep into the site to find the chaperon policy. So to make sure my son went, I bought a ticket for myself and walked in with him. They didn't have me sign a paper stating I was with him nor did they check my ID. His uncle is 20 (will be 21 in March) I don't understand what a 5 month difference makes in bringing in my son. They were only open for 3 hours and my son only got to experience it for 2 because of this. What a money grab!!! Will not be spending money here ever again. I went with my girlfriend earlier, had a great time at the mini golf course until 3 of our balls got stuck in the 11th hole. The courses seem rundown af and dirty. A lady with her son were walking back and she told us their balls had gone missing so they're calling it a day. save ur $$ this shit was a waste of time. At least make it worth my time and money, u guys seem to know that ur golf courses are old as hell, that's why there's employees consistently checking if there's any balls stuck in the tubes. It doesn't look like much when you get in; they're in dire need of more employees as employee run multiple rides and ignore others. Don't expect great customer service as most the hires are seemingly miserable teens, they curse they smoke and they will bitch about the work environment right in front of you. The rides are old but you get what you pay for. The food is mediocre at best. The rides are very carnival like but fun, simple, and definitely old. Not too bad of a place. The arcade was solid but I mainly came there for the mini golf and it didn't look too taken care of. Still had fun but there weren't much helpful explanations of which holes path was the best as I've seen in other courses. Also, there were literal missing parts/gaps of the course where my ball got stuck and couldn't hit from (like there used to be something there but was removed). Still had fun overall though. Its a good deal for being local and not as busy as the big parks. The four mazes are good enough and youll get that HALLOWEEN experience. Just look out for some of these kids running the mazes. Castle park has to step up their training. Their seasonal employees can get cocky and arrogant. There's a dude with long hair in charge of the Seance maze. Absolutely rude and unprofessional. This was probably his first managerial gig. After this season he should be back at the regular burger joint making fries. read more

I will not take my kids ever again!!! We went a couple of weeks ago and my kids were on one of the kiddie rides. The ride operator asked someone else if he was qualified to work the ride and he took her spot. He put his key in the machine and started the ride. He never checked belts and my child told me he did not have his belt on, thank God nothing happened. Also, there was a young child still walking around in the ride when the ride started. read more

Don't buy the party package!! We had our child's birthday right before Halloween and it was the most awful experience I have ever had anywhere . I left with very little if any pictures of my child , In tears and stressed out . We paid 900 dollars for food , extra park tickets for our guest because the package only allows you to have 10 people and paid extra to partake in their crafts for extra charge . 1. We were told to be at the park 30 minutes before our scheduled time to set up . We were yelled at upon entrance and were made to wait until til our scheduled party time . I was setting up my party while my guest all waited and watched me for 40 minutes set up our table . Believing the issues were over we finally got our party started 2} we ordered 2 extra pizza party packaged plus the pizza that comes with the package. The kids got their pizza the adults had to wait an extra hour for their food and drinks . Because they don't let you bring in food my guest did not eat until 1pm when the party started at 11. It was embarrassing and the kids running the kitchen didn't even offer the sodas while we had to wait . I had to be the one carrying the pitchers asking for refills for my guest , plates napkins more . 3. When we checked in we were told it was $60 for each child and $10 for each adult , as our party guests came in the manager told us to pay separately each time . That is what my husband did . He was given two wrist bands one yellow and one white I believe it was. He naturally assumed one was an adult and one was a child , we were paying for a ticket for both an adult and child after all . My party finally made their way to rides at 1:30 after getting food. When we got to the swinging dragon ride the worker proceeded to yell at us that we don't have the write wrist band and we need "to not be there ". Angry at this point to spoke to the manager that was already an issue at the gate , the one that ignored my email that said I needed to be there 10:30 to set up . He corrected the wrist band issue but not without stress. Apparently one was for mini golf and one was for rides , and they didn't give us the right number of wrists bands , it would have been 4 or two each . We thought we could enjoy the party now 4. We head back to the big top to pack , we enjoyed two hours of rides and we were so happy the party was over , it was so stressful.... And then a man who I had not interacted at all came up to me and tells me " you have a bill to pay , you're trying to leave " I was so absolutely applauded. I was standing next to our party table , what did he mean leave ? I was still at the party ! I tried to tell him we have all our receipt and everything and everyone is accounted for let's get my party planner I was working with . Well he did not want to help me and instead started to pick a fight with one of my party guest , a veteran of the Iraq war , and tell him that our family isn't paying a bill , and proceeded to put his hands up to another party guest like he was going to slap her . This was a child in a position he should not have been in . Finally we had adult rolling out of offices . And after providing all our receipts and getting a refund because we figured out we over paid by $25 dollars , I was in tears embarrassed and stressed out . Though it was a misunderstanding on their behalf the accusations and treatment I faced in front of my guest were so harassing. Magically after that everyone disappeared . I'm sorry I even spent my child's birthday there . I expected a level of service I did not receive. From my understanding their corporate offices are in Newport , but you can't get ahold of anyone and when I tried to email the party planner she ignored us , but she was always available when we were interested in booking . The level of services you get here for the birthday party package, it's not worth it. Take your money elsewhere where , I wish I had booked with adventure city like I originally intended. Highly recommend attending the Castle Dark Haunt. If your tired of waiting in ten hour lines for a haunted house this will be your paradise. Short lines, Friendly staff and they stood in character for this haunt. Now if you get scared they will guide you out. It is a good place to start horror events for the little ones took my ten year old and made wonderful memories. I really think the thing that makes this place special is the people that work here. Don't compare this to a massive corporate theme park because it is not that here you have a nice home town feel. Rides are comparable to carnival rides very fun. Mini golf is great lots of holes some parts look like they might need a little renovation but for the most part the course is smooth with a ton of little houses the theming is awesome. Arcade is clean so are restrooms. I suggest buying the refillable cup you do have to pay for refill but it's cheaper than buying per drink. Food was also comparable to a fair serving things like funnel cake they also have a pizza stand inside. I want to specially acknowledge the scarers and everyone who worked on the houses you all made this experience something special for my son and myself. If there is other advice I can give ladies don't bring big bulky purses think dodger stadium requirements because you don't want to have to walk your bag back to your car if I would make one suggestion park should put a large sign before security line I saw a poor security guard get chewed out because this lady was being a Karen. Other than that one little thing overall I loved this place and hope to go back again before Halloween. read more

Who ever this gentleman was he was great....He was hyping up the people on the ride.....With a happy positive demeanor....felt like I was at the old Disneyland when the staff there would participate in making sure you had a good time.....well thanks to this guy we didn't have to drive as far and pay the crazy amount for tickets to Disney..... My kids got on this ride several times... I feel bad I didn't get the young man's name....Thanks for the fun, positive vibes though... My husband had called the coordinator Sales and her name is Vanessa. So my husband had explained the conversation and how it would benefit our family in getting season passes. So I was able to speak with Vanessa and she was very helpful over the phone. However the only complaint that I have was the system online because it was a bit complicated which it was taking me 4 hours and so I gave up and was super stressful because we were having a small party in joining us to celebrate our twins birthday! And thank God the following morning the Director called me and her name is Heather she honestly made it all happen because of the horrible experience of so many attempts of trying to get season passes for my family! I gave a 5 star because she went above and beyond to make things right!! As well as our host Jacob!!! He was super nice very attentive to us he was amazing best customer service!! Since it was our first time The director Heather also informed me the history behind castle park! Which was awesome to know and It's very similar to Knotts! They also have this circus room for the birthday parties and it's nice that they bring out games and the best deal they have is there party bash! And they have a entertainment show at 4:30pm! They also have a cute water play for kids! Even though I saw adult's getting wet too Lol! I highly recommend getting a platinum pass because they give you coupons to save money and you also get a platinum cup with free refills throughout the Park and 20% off on food etc. And free parking! read more

If you want to avoid crowds I highly suggest visiting right when they open so you and your party do not wait for a longtime to go to the next section. We always go right when they open and we are able to finish golfing the whole park in about an hour and a half. If you want to only play miniature golfing you pay for that price and if you want to do the whole park you pay the full price. When going to different courses there are plenty of cute photos you can take as they have a fun display of figures. The park is sectioned in different areas as in the miniature golf, arcade, and the actual park where the rides are located. When going right when they open the course has less random golf balls hanging around and it is still clean where you do not see a lot of people leaving their drinks and equipment behind. Once you are done golfing you cannot go back to the golf area as they do not allow you. If you want to go a second round I think you have to pay for a new round. The park itself is a little rundown and it can definitely use an upgrade. When going from course to course there are some areas which are upgraded with new paint and display while others are so old that the paint is chipping and some walkways are crooked. For each guest golfing they get a pencil, score card, and clubs and balls. If you misplace any of these items you have to go back to the cashier and ask for another piece of equipment. When looking for dining options - they have the usual park food with burgers and fries. Another thing that could also be improved is the parking lot which is small and if you arrive in the afternoon you will spend about 20 minutes looking for a spot. Since there are not that many miniature golf places left, this is my go-to location as the service is decent and the area is okay. They always have deals when you sign up for their email newsletter and take advantage of the deals as they are very affordable. read more

Wow so i had never been here only heard that this was the GO TO place for school field trips. So my son wins 4 kid tickets so of course i take him and some cousins, honestly i did not expect a lot but it was so much fun that i went to upgrade my ticket so i could join rides LOL!! they also have a water park, we didn't get to enjoy it because it was closed but it was so cute and enjoyable We caught the magic show and it was honestly funny we stayed for about 4 hours but the kids were able to do a couple rounds on all rides and the people working were nice. We rented a cabin in Crestline, which is gorgeous, but we've had to take a couple of trips to Riverside to find fun things to do for the kids. Today it was Castle Park, which sounded like a good deal for the money ($20 for all included: carnival rides, water park, & miniature golf) Husband was kind of bummed out that we also had to pay for parking on top of this. We noticed right away that 4 of the rides were closed, but as they seemed to be thrill rides and our kids are so young, I didn't care. The rides we went on were fun. I especially loved the carousel, which is pretty basic, but you can tell it is old (I read that it's from 1905???) And I appreciated that it was indoors, out of the sun. We tried mini-golf next but today was so hot we gave up after maybe 15 minutes, and headed to Buccaneer Cove (I'm not sure how anyone can golf during the summer; it was torture). The 6 year-old and I were super disappointed that there was no pool in Buccaneer Cove, just some water slides that dip below the concrete with water rushing through, and a lot of water features like you would find at a splash pad. We only spent like half an hour cooling off here before we got bored of this section and moved on. The arcade was ok. I really liked that silly ride where you shoot ghosts. All in all, this place is not mind-blowing but we had fun. It is a good way to spend an afternoon with family, especially if you have kids that complain about being bored out in nature (sigh). This is for Castle Dark. I went there on the last day of operation (October 29). The place wasn't the best but for what I paid for, I expect it. I was really disappointed because when I was about to go on a train ride, a staff member said that the seats are full and that I will be able to take the next one but I see a few open seats. I didn't mind waiting for a next one but a min later, another staff said that the attraction is closed and that it was the last one. It's because he said that the management made the last minute desicison to close it early. WTF are you serious??? I waited just to find that it's closed. Man this park needs better management. I should sue the shit outta them if I don't get my refund because they wasted my time waiting for nothing. I have only been here twice in two years, just for mini golf, but I have to say the park really is bigger than you would expect it to be. If I had small kids I would definitely bring them often, lots of rides for toddlers and a pretty decent arcade. I didn't get to see how much prices for food or rides were so I can't comment on that. That being said, it is annoying to have to pay $10 just for parking! Just to mini golf for a hour! And I wish you could golf more than one of the trails. They also had no water features running and the water park area wasn't operating on a August evening when the temperatures were high 90s. read more

I've been to castle park multiple times throughout the years and I always end up having a good time. My family and I (12 in total; it was a family day and took advantage of their stocking stuffer from Christmas, with unlimited rides and mini golf..yes it was a GREAT deal) visited on a Saturday and honestly I was so happy to see so many people there, and we all had a wonderful time. I was surprised to see such a low rating for the park, I feel like the popularity of these small parks have declined through the years, Which really sucks because there's so many positives. It's local, has rides for toddlers, teens, and adults, mini golf, arcade, carnival games, etc. Yes, there's a few things that may need attention but overall it's a great place to go for a few hours, and I believe we should support a local attraction. I bought 7 tickets, there was 6 ride closures, very upset, no magician, the new log ride still closed For 2 more weeks, no swings, no roller coaster on the right, no train , no demon tower ext.. big waste of money, we used to Al get annual passes nooo more, short on help, not enough staff to do the rides.. super bummer read more

We had a great time, came on memorial weekend. Got our tickets online so we didn't have to wait to get in, very convenient. It was our first time here, we were surprised at all the rides and games they had for kids of all ages. We played mini golf, they offer 4 courses which were all decorated fun, colorful and unique. They were a lot of fun. They had a boardwalk of games which didn't cost an arm and leg to play and the indoor arcade had plenty to play as well, including bowling and a mini ride. They had plenty of snacks and food to buy and souvenir cups with refills. The pizza was made fresh to order and the hot dog was so flavorful. Having so much fun, we missed the magic show and we didn't get on any rides this time. But we will be back, we had so much fun! The whole park itself was very clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. This is a great place to bring your family or friends. Castle Park is everything needed from your local amusement park. If you're expectations are high, don't come here - go drop a house payment at Disneyland. For the rest of you - Enjoy some mini golf, listen to Kevin the peacock screech, and eat some stale popcorn. It's all fun.
