I had previously reviewed Castle Rock imports and gave them 4 Stars. The work they did was top notch. The reason for the removal of a star was this: when I called to schedule my appointment, I asked if the $185 diagnostic fee would be deducted from the work done. That did not happen. I sent Castle Rock Imports a message explaining what happened. I am happy to report they admitted a mistake was made and happily refunded half of the Diagnostic fee. They were very convenient when our car broke down nearby and the folks at the counter were very helpful. My only issue was I declined most of the service recommendations they made because their prices were at least two times higher than I've seen. Parts were 3x higher. After I declined I got a nasty call from the owner informing me of I didn't go for at least their their recommendation for a very expensive alignment they wouldn't warranty their work. Pretty vindictive and unwarranted in my opinion. I declined as the Midas next door did the alignment for 1/3 the quote. The owner of CRI was unprofessional in that he was dismissive of the Midas next door and the skills of their employees. read more

Update to previous review on castle rock imports service. When I got home with my car, I checked the diagnostic port with my blue tooth diagnostic plug and iPhone apt. showed PO457 code (lose gas cap) Cap was seated in stem but not twisted shut. Don't know when or why this way. Twisted shut restarted car and no engine check light! Took tire off and found 2 in. long nail in side wall! Not repairable! took to discount tire got new tire for free! When drove home noticed all dash distance read outs where in Km (Metric). Easy to change in computer set up menu. Also noticed lane change assist was turned off. Someone played with computer settings probably while trying to turn off service warning. But did not know what they were doing!! Lew read more

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. They seemed so trustworthy but not so much. I recently paid for a Used Car Check where they advised me the car needed around $4500 of work. I couldn't afford this much so I ultimately took the car to a family friend who is a Mechanic. Most items CRI claimed needed fixed or replaced there was nothing wrong. Also their prices are anything but reasonable. The markup on all parts they said I needed was around 100% and that was before labor. It makes me more angry that I paid them to try to rip me off. If a car shop is too friendly, watch out. read more

It wasn't too bad of an experience until I checked the part price. I just did my clutch replacement at Castle Rock Imports. Originally I felt clutch slipping, so I took my car there ask for the clutch replacement. The owner quoted me with reasonable price. With all the good reviews here and there, I think I'd give them a try. Later he called me again saying my clutch was really BAD and it needed a Shaft Repair Sleeve which was a part worth $210.95. To be honest, even he said the clutch was worn really bad, I really just felt the slipping for two days. Anyways, I told him yes and go ahead to change it. I took my car back yesterday. And I did a quick search on the "Shaft Repair Sleeve" that cost me 210 bucks. To my big surprise, the whole internet, no matter if it's a third-party part or Subaru OEM part, the "shaft repair sleeve" range anywhere from $10 to $40 (OEM). The whole shaft assembly including every part is $176. What a ripped off at Castle Rock Imports. I would really appreciate an explanation on this. UPDATE: to the owner's comment: Thank you for giving us the discount. That's why we brought our car to your shop in the first place. Well, the part you put on the receipt is "Shaft Repair Sleeve", not the "Snout Repair Kit". The part number that printed on the receipt wasn't "TSK1" either. I do believe you that you have changed the transmission sleeve instead of the shaft sleeve, but you could have told us that when we called in to ask for an explanation. Instead of telling us what exactly was the part you've put in, you started to argue with us (on how much discount you've given us). Sorry, that wasn't a pleasant experience. Also, of course, I know the price on the internet is always lower than the dealer, however, it shouldn't be a 10-fold difference. That's why we asked for an explanation in the first place. read more

At the beginning of summer 2020, I was having problems with the AC in my Honda Pilot and first took my car to Christian Brothers who told me there was no coolant in the system and the compressor was shot (I thought this odd since I just put a gauge on the system which registered adequate pressure). I then took it to Caste Rock Imports who also advised that my compressor was shot but didn't give me the line about no coolant. The repair was cheaper than Christian Brother's estimate. They gave me a ride home then quickly and efficiently fixed my vehicle. As of late August 2020, all is well with the A/C. I am a happy customer and will return for other service. read more

That set a tone that just never really changed from that point on. To be complete, they were patient with some issues, but the overall tone was rude and arrogant. Amazing service! Our daily driver broke down in the garage and through coordination with Tim at Castle Rock Imports we were able to have the car towed to his shop, diagnosed, and repaired all at a price that was more than fair. My initial thinking was that the starter had gone bad as the battery was showing full charge on my cheap DIY meters and was not making the 'dead battery' clicks. Once it arrived at CRI, Tim's team quickly diagnosed it as a bad cell in the battery. He replaced the battery and conducted an electrical test and all other components were fine. No attempt to say it was anything other than what it was... To go the extra mile, Tim then asked if the battery was under warranty; which it was through Wal-Mart. Through a weird set of circumstances beyond both of our controls, the battery was unable to be returned to Wal-Mart for a refund. I contacted Wal-Mart service, with receipt in hand, and was told the return value of the dead cell battery. I called Tim back and he honored that same price with no incentive but actually a loss on his end. There was no back-and-forth, just straightforward and honest service. They did a full estimate before doing any repairs, and we went over what needed to be done and they explained everything to me. I took my Daughters BMW because when you wanted to drive the car you had to jump it. It wouldn't charge the battery so I brought it into them and they miss diagnosed the car and the key fob wouldn't unlock the car. So they said they fixed the key fob and now when you lock the car the alarm goes off so we can't lock the car right now. I would not go to this place for anything and I want my money back that I paid them to tell me the wrong thing and for supposedly fixing the key fob. Took the car somewhere else and got it fixed for what was really wrong with it the only problem is they don't know what is going on with the key fob. read more

Had our car towed to Castle Rock Imports it's supposedly needed a coil replaced they wanted to replace all six for $1,000 when only one was bad but insisted on wanting to change all 6 when other shops are quoting 670 to have them changed shop said 280 for one and Castle Rock Imports wanted 780 to do 1 are car sat there for one week and they called my husband threatening to tow it and have it impounded I would not recommend Castle Rock imports their customer service needs work read more

Had my Porsche towed over Wednesday evening because it wouldn't start. Got a call from Josh that same evening, and gave him a description of what was going on. He stated they were slammed but would get to work on it as soon as possible. Got my car back today (Friday midday) with the addition of a requested tune-up. Great service! Very reasonably priced! Tim and the staff at Castle Rock imports are the real deal. They are honest and a pleasure to deal with in general. I have taken my car there for an oil change and repairs. The repairs that were brought to my attention after the oil change were repairs that I knew were needed. Fair pricing and performed all the work in one day. My husband and I went to pick up the car after hours and it wouldn't crank. The alternator had gone bad, but it wasn't an item that was worked on. We had to leave it with the keys. Tim, the owner, was on it the next day. He replaced the part without charging me, because he thought that they should have caught it. He also delivered by car to my home by late morning which amazing service since I live 20 minutes from the shop. I made an appointment to have my care repaired at Castle Rock imports May 19, 2016. I dropped my car off the night before because I had to fly to the east-coast the following morning very early for the wedding of my daughter, I get a call from the owner shortly after landing in Baltimore, MD stating he will not work on my car because of a review that I posted one time before. So I said why didn't you tell me that when I made the appointment, I also offered to change the previous review and was willing to give them another chance, that's the reason I came back to them the first place (give them another chance). Then he said they didn't have my car on the schedule... hmmm It put me in a very difficult situation - I had to find someone to go and get my car since I'm out of the state at my daughters wedding. I can't say enough good things about Castle Rock Imports! They're reliable, friendly and - most importantly - trustworthy! I don't know anything about cars, but I have confidence each time I drop mine off that I will not be taken advantage of! There have been times they didn't charge me for labor bc the job was so small. Times they could have easily convinced me to spend several hundred dollars on repairs, but instead they start with the cheaper solution to see if it fixes the problem. I even had them refer me to a Jeep dealership once -- after not charging me for their labor since they couldn't resolve the issue -- only to have the dealership charge me over $100 to say "Castle Rock Imports did everything right. We don't know what the problem is either. Go back to them." When my friend was in town on a road trip, her check engine light came on. Tim and Josh looked at her car, said the issue would not cause her any problems getting home, and again -- did not charge her for their time. My parents have been raving about them for years, and I know why! This is the only car place that I've ever baked cookies for, and it's the only one I trust with my car! read more

First visit to CR Imports with an Audi Q5 - so glad I found them. 8,000 miles ago I went to the dealership for some recall work. They said I needed all 4 brakes (at a huge cost!). I questioned them because the car only had 27,000 miles on it. Declined it, and then they told me the brakes had censors and a light would tell my when I needed to replace them. When the light came on, I took it to CR imports, and only the front two needed to be replaced, back two still have 8K or so miles left on them. Glad I found a trusted mechanic! read more

These guys are awesome. They are honest, reasonable and fast. I called last night, made an appointment for my Audi for this morning, and I had the car back by 1:00 PM. They replaced a gas discharge headlamp for $150 total. At the Audi dealer, the part alone was $180, and they would have charged a full hour of labor (not to mention it would have taken days to get in to them). Tim was the guy that helped us, and he was really easy to work with and clearly a honest and ethical guy. Highly recommend this place for you german car drivers. read more

I can't say enough great things about Josh and Tim at Castle Rock Imports. In short, I did some work on my car back in December of 17. About a month and change later something happened where I ended up on the side of the road. Knowing that they had replaced some hoses I called them first and had my car towed there. The following day, after looking into it, just call me back to let me know that a very small part on something they worked on failed and caused severe damage and that I was going to need a new transmission. To my very pleasant surprise he owned up to the larger problem coming from a part they had replaced. Most other mechanics would have blamed the damage on something else! They covered my rental and replaced my transmission at no cost to me. I can honestly say they've earned my business for as long as I live in the area!
