First, the free estimate appointment was so clear and it was Castro did a review of the needs and he provided multiple options that fit the schedule. After calling an electrician who charged me $75 to showed up. Moreover, he took the breakers off the main panel and left me with no power for couple of days. I found Castro Electrical Services on the web. When I called I was able to speak with Paul who asked me to send him a picture. He was able to give me a fix price over the phone and set me up with an appointment the next day. A member of his team showed up with a proper mask, gloves and shoe booties. It took him 10 minutes to install the new breakers. When I asked how much was for the breakers. I recently used Castro electrical services to replace my bathroom switch. The technician that came to the house was Peter. He was great in that he was able to change out my switch and since it was a double switch, he went ahead and changed the other one with no additional charge so that the two switches would be matching. He was kind enough to put my light fixture back on as well. That was a pleasant surprise. Peter also shared some information with me regarding a surge protector, and was kind enough to show me exactly what it looks like and what it would do.There was no pressure from him in purchasing the surge protector. He was kind enough to give me information and encouraged me to look into How the protector actually works and recommended it as something to consider for down the road. Just had Paul complete installing an outdoor outlet and switching an indoor outlet. I did a lot of research and he was extremely competitive but it was our initial conversation that sold me. He is extremely personable, honest and a family man. Him and a trainee showed up on time, assessed the job and explained what they would do. Everything was extremely professional. They even went out of their way and taught me a little bit about how to best connect an outdoor lighting system. They tested a unit and recommended what I could get. When walking inside, they take precaution to not leave any footmarks in the home and were very diligent doing their job. I will absolutely use him for any other electrical job. I hired Castro Electric Services to install one single ceiling fixture in my living room. The staff before and after the project was polite and sounded caring. The work associated with the project was disappointing. The technician/electrician was late. My specific instructions were not followed. The number of irregularly cut holes in the ceiling and the wall for this project was excessive. The cutout ceiling pieces were just taped back to cover the holes with painter masking tape which was too weak to hold up the ceiling pieces and thus, after 1 day, the cutout ceiling pieces all fell down. The electrician informed us that he did not carry dimmer switch in his truck which was fine but then he changed his mind and said that he had only one in his truck. After installing the switch which turned out to be defective, he went to his truck and miraculously showed my husband a second one. Overall, the installation was done well but the process was not. Despite the negative remarks so far, the story has a happy ending. The owner was made aware of my dissatisfaction. He was very apologetic about the side effect of the work and sent out a crew to my house the following Saturday. The crew patched up the holes, painted everything, cleaned up all the dust without charging me a penny. The work was well done and I am very satisfied. Castro Electric Services went beyond what the work request to rectify issues that rose from the project. It stands by the years of experience and reputation and I will not hesitate to hire this company for future projects. read more

We had a need to have two dedicated outlets installed each on their own breaker. Unfortunately for us our house was only built with a 60amp panel so we would also have to upgrade the panel. I looked through Google and Yelp and found Castro Electrical Services. I called for an estimate, Paul the owner of the company came on time for our scheduled estimate. He provided me a written quote on the spot and followed that up with an electronic quote. Once the new panel was chosen (I had a specific model in mind) Paul ordered it and had it shipped directly to my house. Once the panel was enroute he called to schedule the work. He was extremely flexible with my family's busy schedule. Ten minutes before his crew was set to arrive they were already outside. I gave them a quick run down of where the two outlets needed to go and they got to work. The two workers were incredibly efficient and knowledgeable. Paul arrived shortly after they started to ensure each of the parts of the project was going to be completed. Paul's guys knocked the whole thing out, two dedicated outlets with romex running from a second story attic down to the basement, a new panel, and few checkups and repairs from previous questionable work in under 8 hours. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. The guys vacuumed each area they had been in and didn't leave any mess. So Paul and his team just recently completed his second job for us. The first, last year, was to do a heavy up on our newly purchased 50+ year old home. The work was done on time, priced competitively, and neatly. The work passed inspection the first time. There was some difficulty getting Pepco to do their piece but Paul's office staff worked with us to get it done in the end. The newer job was to install a 40 amp 240V plug in our garage for our new EV. Again, Paul's team was on time, efficient, and the work was done correctly. Pricing was very competitive. The car charges beautifully and he provided the paperwork for the Maryland EV charger rebate. Above and beyond? Paul personally phoned to follow up on the install. He wanted to make sure the plug was working correctly. Very impressive. Two days before our initially scheduled install date we lost our heat in our home. We called to offer Paul the opportunity to reschedule since the house was around 60 degrees. Rescheduling was seamless and Paul took it in stride. We got a new appointment exactly when it was convenient for us. Minor issues and resolution The team drilled an unnecessary (as it turned out) hole in one of our staircases for the run from the panel to the garage. The next day two gentlemen showed up and patched the hole. They did a nice job. The paperwork for the EV charger rebate had 2 minor errors on it. Paul's office corrected the errors and sent new copies within a day. Summary and a final thought Would I use Castro Electrical again? The answer is, without hesitation. Please be aware that Castro does NOT do drywall patching. Paul is very careful to explain this when he does his estimate. Plus, it is written clearly on the estimate. I imagine that occasionally people fail to notice this. My wife and I think this is as it should be. We are using his company for their expertise in electrical work. We would not expect a plumber to be a roofer, so we do not expect an electrician to be a dry wall expert. Have a nice day. read more
