I was sent here by my Insurance Company to take care of something the body shop could not do over the weekend. I was told they knew I was coming and would take care of it. Before I could even get out of my car fully, Jack started aggressively questioning me and rejecting everything I said. He would not let me even explain fully why I was there. I have rarely met such a rude and obnoxious individual. He is argumentative and not interested in even letting you finish a sentence. Response to Jack - your should have refused the job when the repair shop who communicated with you gave you my job. You cannot accept them and them treat me the way you did when I showed up at their direction. You did not even check your paperwork. Had the worst experience of my life! Went in a few days ago to get my Ford serviced and right from the begining they screwed me. A guy called Jack took my car away and said it looked in really good condition and should only be an hour. I left to go to Starbucks and came back an hour later. I asked about my car and Jack came out the shop and started lying about how bad the engine was and my brakes and using so many I didn't understand. I asked him how long it would take but he refused to give me an answer. I was getting annoyed so Jack went and got a guy called to come over. Jay was very agressive and in my face. I felt very uncomfortable! I ended up leaving with tears streaming down my face ruining my makeup! Truly a bad workshop with awfull customer service read more

Thank you so much to Chris at Castro Valley Union 76 for taking exceptional care of my friends' ninety year old parent's car during this Pandemic. Their car battery had died as they have been sheltered in place. They called Chris to see if he could help. Chris had them leave their keys on the front porch while he backed the car out of their garage and towed it to his station. He proceeded to change the battery. When he was finished, Chris drove the car back to them, returning it to their garage. This was service beyond the call of duty. Small businesses are struggling right now. For some reason the dealership sent our brand new truck here for detailing and spraying paint protection. Got it back with scratches all over the bed of the truck, as if they had rocks on their shoes when they did their work back there. The paint also now has circular streaks everywhere like they used the wrong type of towel. Our brand new truck's paint looks shotty now, not that beautiful glass like paint job like it was. Dealership told us to see the manager, bad idea. The manager came out rushing us and my husband didnt even get a complete sentence out of his mouth before the guy said he didnt want to hear about it and Checy needs to deal with it. The guy was a hot mess, rude, and horrible horrible customer service. Didnt even attempt to make things right or hear us out. Not to mention, this business doesnt even advertise as a detailing shop. #shadyshit read more

I came here a couple of weeks ago because I needed a brake and light inspection done on a commuter vehicle I just bought...ok $120 and I paid an additional $50 for a smog...ok. But then I was told that my car doesn't pass brake inspection because I needed new rotors and brake pads. I was quoted $401 for front brakes. I was also informed that if I brought my parts in, the shop would charge me about $198 to install plus $60 for the certificate...after much debate, I decided to go with their shop (had to get it done and let's be real, I don't have time to price out parts and piece the job together). So I brought my perfectly running commuter into the shop and got the brake pads and rotors done...2 hours later, car was done. I was told the car was test driven...ok. I paid $401 and hit the road...about 2 blocks away, started to hear a bumping noise...I'm thinking maybe the car is settling...I get on the freeway headed to Oakland and the car felt like it was going to fall apart!!! I contacted Jake, who was kind enough to say he'd wait for me if I take the car back. He would even have his mechanic stay...well, it's 5pm on 580 and I'm not going to fight traffic with a car that could just fall apart...so I told Jake I would come back the next day. Jake was fine with that and commented that sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes, the wheels may be loose and I could ask my man to check it. What???? Didn't I just pay you guys all this money to ensure that my car would be better than before? Long story short, after exiting in Oakland and having my man check the tires...it was learned that BOTH FRONT TIRES were not tightened AT ALL!!! I thought you said you test drove the car? I'm extremely disappointed that I paid a total of almost $600 for inspections, smog and brake job only to feel neglected and rushed out the door. These are nice guys, hence, the 1 star but low rating for not checking, then double checking and triple checking with something so important as ensuring that the wheels don't fall off on a car that you just did a $400 brake job on? read more

The people working here are fairly dishonest. Be careful and triple check what they tell you. I called ahead to order two containers of superblue racing brake fluid. I was quoted $30 for two, and I verified that it was for TWO a couple times. I get there and the guy said he only ordered one and that the price was actually for one. I could have gotten it for $15 online but since I called these guys and got an estimate for the same amount, I opted to buy in the store and have it sooner. But at this point it was too late to order online since I took an extra day to pick it up, not anticipating a problem. Now I was forced to pay more from lack of better options, plus I was risking it with only one container. I complained and he said if I needed another one he'd order me another one and give me a discount of $5, making it $25, which he CLAIMED was his cost. But if I can get it online for $15, there's no way that's his cost. My boyfriend worked at an auto shop before that could get it cheaper and he probably knows the supplier. I believe he lied to me. I won't be coming back to this place again, order parts online! They can't even quote your prices correctly. Edit: I see that the owner has commented below; however, it's not true. I wish they could be honest with customers. I just checked prices online and on Amazon it is $22 with FREE shipping, $8 cheaper than here. Also, Tire Rack sells it for $15 plus $10 shipping, and even with that huge shipping fee, they somehow manage to keep the overall price cheaper than this place. It is also possible to get it several other places online for under $25. Obviously their suppliers are selling it to them for cheaper because they're not going to sell it at a loss. read more

I've been taking my cars into Castro Valley 76 for almost ten years now. The service I've received from Jack and Jay and their technicians is always nothing short of phenomenal. Their service is honest and in my opinion they go above and beyond what most mechanics are willing to do, especially if the problem is difficult to pin down. They also tend towards more conservative fixes when it is warranted instead of ripping you off by starting with the most expensive one possible. It really should be 4 1/2 stars. I brought in my SUV to have the transmission replaced with a rebuilt unit I purchased online. Jack and his entire staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The customer/mechanical service was spot-on as my car was returned (as promised) in 2 days. However the only hiccup was the TCM wasn't reprogrammed as they were unable to perform the procedure. I had it reprogrammed at a local shop near my home and now she runs perfectly. I would definitely recommend this shop to my friends and family. Thank you again for all your help!! read more

Ongoing OBD II monitoring issues prevented 2002 Hyundai from passing smog. The Hyundai Dealership re-set the monitor and recommended CVU 76 to complete the drive cycle process (was too technical for me). From the first encounter with Jay he was positive, professional, upfront with pricing, and assured me that he could get the job done, just needed time.
