While this location is pricier compared to other chain locations such as Petsmart, the team's genuine care for the cats and their qualifications make the higher cost worthwhile. We recently adopted a street cat and was recommended to this clinic by a friend. Located on White Oak, parking is available out front fairly easily. We were tended to by Dr. Filip and his staff. They were friendly and knowledgeable and were able to get up to speed with recommendations and evaluating our cat without pushing certain procedures / treatments which have excessive cost without going through the implications first. We were able to get the recommended treatments and primary vaccines and the visit was very information packed (in a good way). We scheduled ahead of time and were promptly helped out with; we were home within a hour. Yes, the vet visit here was quite pricey, but that's how it is for folks who are experts in their field and have experience in this particular line of work compared to a more generalized vet who prioritizes just going through the motions. read more

He followed up with me on several occasions and was patient with my anxiety about my cats health. His treatment was conservative, which was appreciated. This is an excellent group of veterinarians who specialize in cats. We had been clients of theirs for almost 2 decades. The reason for 3 stars is the recent change in the cancellation policy. Earlier this year I had made an appointment to take my cats in for their annual exam. The clinic called to reschedule because the vet had something come up. I said sure, no problem. Fast forward to me not being able to make the new appointment in time due to feline uncooperation. They said now I had to pay a "deposit" for a new appointment. I had never been late or missed an appointment before in over 15 years! Mind you, if I had kept my original time there would have been someone home to help me wrangle my rascals. Anyway, I don't think it's fair that I should change my time for you but you won't allow me any grace when I need some?? In any case, I accepted the fault as mine and moved on. It is now the end of May, the Monday after the tornado hit Houston, and I get an email from the cat clinic about how many people are canceling and how now there will be a deposit for cancellations. I understand you are a business, but this is in poor taste. People are canceling because they don't have power or their homes are damaged or worse. This review is for that. Scam, do not go here. At his annual exam I agreed to give my cat the Leukemia vaccine and that he would need to come back in 4 weeks for the booster. When I went in for the booster, they require you to pay for another annual exam even though one was done 4 weeks earlier. They also were requiring me to pay to sedate him, without even attempting to give him the vaccine. We waited in the lobby for 30 minutes, he never meowed once. In the exam room, he was in his carrier, lying on his side relaxed, and they wouldn't let me open up the carrier. He is such a chill cat, I would never sedate him for a single vaccine. Wanting to sedate him for a vaccine is crazy, and then not telling you it's required beforehand is an outright scam. read more

I was so disappointed that they are so rude and only seem to be interested in how much they can make off of each client. I used to work at Cats Exclusive veterinary clinic in Seattle, so when we moved to Houston we looked for a cat-only clinic for our Chloe Sundance. Chloe was elderly, eventually diagnosed with abdominal cancer, and we lost her last year. However, the care care she had at Cat Vet Clinic was the best. We then adopted two a mom and kitten from a shelter and brought them in for their exams last August. The mom, Khaleesi, has asthma and again, the care was the best. Khaleesi and her daughter, Murderbus are on the schedule for their annuals next Sunday and I have no doubt they will be in good hands. (They haven't seen Murderbus since last year, and she's all grown up now...Haha!) We've seen several different doctors there, and I can only say they are all excellent. Reception is knowledgeable and really has it together. All around great clinic, very devoted to cats - and while I no longer work in a clinic, my experience with cats and their care makes me appreciate this group even more. Highly recommended! read more

I was referred to The Cat Vet Clinic by the employees at Catnip Inn. Unfortunately, my kitten Biscuits (adopted two months ago) was not progressing properly. The staff and vets at Cat Vet Clinic took an extended amount of time on our first visit to explain the possibilities and prognosis. They kept Biscuits for more tests and called me everyday with updates spending an incredible amount of time to give me detailed answers. Unfortunately, Biscuits was diagnosed with a neurological disorder and a sad prognosis. We had to make a tough decision to allow him to pass with peace and dignity. Cat Vet Clinic made this sad process easy, respectful, and loving. I can't say how grateful I am to the staff and vets. Note: Biscuits stayed for three nights after his first visit, was given multiple medications. Including this and the other "passing" costs; the entire bill was EXTREMELY reasonable. I have never been to a vet that gave me such a detailed bill and explained why certain costs were what they were. I never felt that I was being taken advantage of. read more

I have been coming to the Cat Vet clinic for years and have had such positive experiences time after time. When one of my cats passed away last year, their bedside manner was phenomenal. I had appointments with both Dr. Christensen and Dr. Wilkens during that time, and they were incredibly compassionate and understanding of all the emotions that you go through when you are losing one of your furry family members. In fact, after my cat had passed away, I was telling a friend who has two cats what a wonderful experience I had with the Cat Vet Clinic when my cat was nearing the end of his life (and throughout his life), and we ended up discovering we both take our cats here. She starting suspecting that we had the same vet while I was telling her my story because she has also had such amazing experiences with Dr. Christensen as well. The vets here are very good. Unfortunately, they cannot fill a prescription in a timely manner, even if your pet has a life threatening disease. The recorded message says it can take up to 48 hours to refill a prescription; however, after calling the vet for three days in a row to get my cat's prescription, today I was told that it would take 3 to 5 days -- three days being the soonest. I don't appreciate getting this information on a Saturday. The person I spoke with on the phone displayed no sign of compassion or empathy for our cat, who has been their patient for his whole life, including treatment for pancreatitis and liver failure. Nor can they suggest another pharmacy -- I was told to "call around." I found Chewy's pharmacy online, but the Cat Veterinary Clinic will not even respond to the pharmacy to verify the cat's prescription for 3 to 5 days. Sadly, we will be looking for another vet. The standard of care here is not acceptable. read more

My darling cat (DC) loves this vet's office. That is a flat out lie, she looks upon the world with disdain *DISDAIN* when she is forced from her comfortable fleece-lined box and into any other place. I was going to go into details and mention a list of specific places, but really any place outside our home, and she throws a little hissy fit. It's like we've missed the chair to couch jump and stepped in the carpet lava. "WHAT!!! did you JUST DO, Lady Cray Cray?! Now my paws will melt!" Oh, and if it's a place that's going to poke and prod her and take her temperature, she turns into Linda Blair with the added bonus of launching her fur into your eyes and mouth. I bring her here because I like it. The vets know cats. Why was I taking 18 year old DC to vets that treat all animals as if they are just slightly different types of dogs? She's an old lady cat and she's like my teenage daughter. I was mortified since she was so old. The vet explained the procedure to me, my options, and the possible side effects. I respect a doctor or dentist who explains what is happening and what they are doing to ME, so I expect that with a vet, as well. Neither vet has let me down. Everything has always been explained in a no nonsense way - which I completely respect. When DC needed to switch to a subcutaneous drip lifestyle, the vets along with the technicians helped me ease DC into the daily routine. The first month was a bit daunting. I danced in place quite a bit and DC hid during each dance routine. However once the learning curve was behind us, it became no thang, so to speak. While the previous location was in a convenient part of town and was housed in two old houses with a nice biggish parking area/backyard, the new place is nice as well. Recently I was told that my cat needed his teeth cleaned, but some of the reviews on yelp scared me that said there were cats passing away during routine procedures. So I wanted to get a second opinion on his teeth and see if there was something else that could be tried before getting the teeth cleaned. I took him to another cat-only clinic, and they told me his teeth were fine with minimal tartar buildup. It is one opinion vs another so that's why I am giving three stars, but it does concern me that my cat was almost put through a procedure that was apparently unnecessary and very costly. I read online 1 in 100,000 cats die in anesthesia, which isn't a super high percentage, but still, unless it's something super necessary why take that risk. So I think it's a good lesson for all to think hard before an operation/procedure and consider a second opinion! read more

If you love your cat, and treat them like family do not take them here because they will most definitely treat your baby like it's not a living breathing thing. Even with a life threatening disease they move with little to no urgency and you will have to initiate solutions before they try to help you fix anything. I had a simple medication request for my fur baby and it turned into a two day run around trying to get the office manager to contact the pharmacy, even though she knew he was out of his medication and showing symptoms that the lack of medication was starting to effect him. She is either inexperienced and doesn't know how to properly do her job, hates her job or she simply doesn't care about the animals. Either way don't risk your babies health here it's not worth it and you will be feeling frustrated. I've spent over $800 here for my cat who has a life threatening condition that is manageable with medication and it seems unless they are receiving some kind of payment from you they are unlikely to help in a timely, and proactive manner. Do not come here!!!! I'm posting this in hopes they fix this because it is completely unethical how they have handled my situation with my cat and they should feel ashamed of themselves. read more

Wonderful service, kitty got a little fever and doc took care of her right away despite being a walk in client! The staff is friendly and easy to talk to and very informative. They are funny and make you feel relaxed and give you a run down of some of their feline residence! I forgot the cats names lol but the Siamese boy has a nice background story and he's just so special and adorbs!! He's so big and cuddly and just love able. The fee for the consultation, examination, and 3 medications was around $120. This is an emotional review to write because my old man passed away. Dr Philip was my sweet Bella's veterinarian and is amazing. During the years he was Bella's physician Bella's health drastically improved. He gave me valuable information that greatly improved his last years--like subcutaneous fluids that assisted his kidneys. I do credit him for the extra time I had with my old man. His allergies cleared up because of a prescription from Dr Philip. When my old man needed teeth pulled Dr Philip suggested certain tests first to make sure Bella would be able to handle the anesthesia and surgery. Not to rack up charges; he genuinely wanted and cared enough to not put my fur baby under without knowing if his body could handle the anesthesia and surgery (Bella was 15 yrs old at the time) and he did the surgery himself which is important. I transferred Bella from a different vet to Dr Philip and he had thoroughly reviewed Bella's records before our first appointment. And it was a lot of records as he'd previously lost an eye to cancer. When I'm finally ready to have another pet I'll definitely be taking that fur baby to him. This clinic was recommended to me by a coworker after learning about Bella's health. I strongly recommend this clinic, especially Dr Philip, to everyone with a cat. read more

Then you will see a brand new veterinarian who knows nothing about your animal. My cat was shuffled between four different veterinarians and received four different diagnoses - all conflicting. Then, the vet tech accidentally dropped her and injured her leg. No apologies! No call the next day to check on her. "That's not our policy," they said. I had her files transferred to the Memorial 610 Veterinarian Hospital the next day. Unlike at the Cat Veterinary Clinic, the vets at Memorial 610 are board certified in feline medicine. this has been extremely unsettling. I have 3 cats that have been going here for awhile. the care is good; the business practices are not. One of my cats seemed to have fleas so I called to get a prescription medication. I have gotten this here previously. they told me it would be ready in 24-48 hours. this morning I got a call saying that they could not give me the medication unless I brought all 3 cats in for an exam since it had been over a year since their last exams (2 of the 3). "It's the law"? One of them had been in within the last year. I asked which law was that? she told me to Google it, then proceeded to tell me her qualifications. so I could not get flea meds for one cat unless I brought all 3 in first. This not only smells of blackmail,. it is unethical. Withholding treatment for a sick animal unless the others are brought in. Thank God they don't know about my 4th cat or that would be another shakedown. Responsible pet owners deserve better! read more

This clinic has behaved poorly during COVID. They are now offering cat "drop off" windows in order to "accommodate" cat owners in response to 'repeated complaints over long wait times and rising temperatures' (per their email) what they don't tell you is that there is a $10 fee associated with that service convenience. Which is just a fun surprise you get to receive on top of their already high prices. They also are comfortable letting their front desk staff dispense medical advice. I called because my cat had developed a stomach bug after visiting the clinic and couldn't get a hold of any person to call me back to prescribe an antibiotic (despite calling at about 8:30 in the morning) because the front desk staff didn't put it in the right category, when I spoke to them at 2, asking when I would get to speak to somebody (or just to make a stupid appointment to bring the cat in) I was told to change the cats food. Which was absolutely inappropriate. I didn't hear back from anybody until almost 6pm. Also, they lie. They said in their email communications about the "drop-off" appointments the the cats would be seen in the order of drop-off and urgency. I dropped my cats off at 7:45, the first ones there. And despite telling me they had to sedate my cat (probably because she was in the vets office alone for 5 hours) for treatment, she was miraculously finishing up her appointment at the exact time I called at 1230 wondering about her status. Even more amazingly, when I picked her up at the clinic she was not under sedation or the effects of the sedation at all. So either the vet sedated my cat for fun in the morning and let the effects wear off before treating her or they lied and they treated my cats much earlier in the day and failed to communicate with me that my cats had been treated and when I could pick them up. Either way, it's really terrible. I have really liked the care my cats received in general, but the clinic is poorly managed and the communication is at best atrocious. It's not worth your energy, find a clinic that communicates well (and doesn't lie or hide charges!). Also they forced everybody to get a stupid app, and the app has been wrong literally every time. I don't understand the point of the stupid app if they cannot even be bothered to use it effectively. Also they kicked me out as a patient for pointing all this out to them on the phone today, so clearly they're not interested in remedying any of their communication issues or even admit the fact that they straight up forgot about my cats today. read more

So this clinic is a complete 180 from the experience I had with Banfield. A brief history... The staff there is very friendly and nice, but the actual care for my cat I've not been very impressed with. She got sick twice, and both times I feel like they were very generic. She stopped eating for 5 days when she was a kitten and they basically said they didn't know what was wrong and tried giving her a prescription food for upset stomach--- but the problem was she was not eating. Finally I had to do research and asked for an appetite stimulant and that worked, but the root of the problem was never found. Same thing started happening again recently and she started vomiting A LOT and stopped eating. She was severely dehydrated so they gave her fluids and nausea medicine and said she had pancreatitis, but offered no reason for it. Even after the nausea meds they gave her she continued to throw up and not eat or drink, so after $400 for some labs and fluids she was in no better shape than when I took her in. I feel like every time she's been really sick there has been no definitive effort to get to the root of the problem. It's just been, "Oh these are the symptoms she's having, here's some medicine to treat those symptoms." Rather than looking into what was causing the problem. Today I brought her to Cat Veterinary Clinic and saw Dr. Christensen. Within 15 minutes as a walk in they had me back in a room, and within 30 more minutes they had done a complete workup and said they have never seen a cat as young as her with pancreatitis, and if she does have it they will start working to find the root cause of the problem. They gave her several injections to make her feel better and want to do an ultrasound in the morning. I am highly impressed with the service an knowledge of the staff here just from my first encounter with them. read more

By moving from NJ, we lost our favorite vet clinic, who treated our 2 cats so well. We were so nervous to find a new clinic, but a cats only clinic sounded like a great option, and they were close. I called the same day that I was looking for an apt, and they fit us in quickly. They also did all the legwork with our old clinic to get our cat's records transferred before we showed up a few hours later. We brought both boys in for their annuals, and I was pleasantly surprised with how low the cost was. I guess its much cheaper here in the south! The vet/techs were very knowledgable and treated our boys well. I brought my cat back a few months later with a urinary problem and they diagnosed him quickly and the medicine was also really affordable. He is borderline feral, so having a cat only clinic was helpful to keep him calm during the process. I highly recommend this place! read more

Good: cats only, nice people greet you - that's it. Bad: Male doctor may like the animals, but is standoffish with humans, and in a BIG time rush. For an annual checkup of over $400, it's just not worth it. When I needed Advantage, they told me to log onto their website, create an account & it's easy to get it that way. REALLY? Easy? I work with and on computers all day long - signing in and out of sites to do research, access documents, and NOTHING is as bad as trying to sign up. The entire process sucks, and I have YET to get to the point where it actually gets me into the account (wheel keeps spinning). We live near Rice U, and just didn't want to take another 35 minutes to drive over, pick up the Advantage & go home. I understand why people really like this place, but the hassle in simple things, plus Mr. Zero Personality, has changed my mind. read more

I love this place. My cats? Not so much. However, annual visits to the vet are a necessary evil to keep them healthy. My first experience with them was when I got my second cat, Chewy, neutered as a kitten. My old vet wanted $600 (no lie). CVC was much more reasonable. I take all of my cats here, including the occasional stray/rescue. The vets are professional, patient, knowledgeable, and good about taking time to answer all my questions. Dr. Christensen is especially wonderful about this. I really feel like we are partners in managing the health of my animals, and that's a great feeling! They have successfully diagnosed and fixed all of my kitty problems, whether it be a food allergy, auto - immune disease, dental issue, skin issue, etc. They handle my cats expertly and efficiently. The staff are also polite, efficient, and all-around fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I wish healthcare for humans was this easy and pleasant! read more

I searched all over Houston to find the right vet for my british shorthair - It was clear from the beginning that all the staff I've interacted with at the Cat Vet Clinic sincerely care about your pet. I believe this business has been around for a long time but the office is very clean and up to date. The vet's credentials speak for themselves. I've used Dr Filip and Dr Tibbs - both were very knowledgeable and I trust both with my cat. Dr Filip is a little more straight to business/no sugar coating/type A style (not that it's a bad thing) than Dr Tibbs. So go with whatever matches your personality type better. I recently had my cat spayed by Dr Tibbs - she did a GREAT job.It's not the cheapest place to take your cat to be spayed but not outrageous considering what you are paying for (~$390 pre blood screen, IV, heart monitoring, intubation, overnight stay, etc, basically everything you can think of, etc). Overkill? Not if you're like me and want the best available treatment. A lot of people seem to forget that a spay procedure may be routinely performed but that doesn't make it a routine procedure - a hysterectomy IS a pretty big deal when you think about it. So I consider the $400 money well spent. Kitty had zero complications and was back to normal in no time. Can't say enough good things about everyone there from the vets to the vet techs. Everyone here is so nice and friendly. I just moved to Houston and my indoor/outdoor kitties were getting sores on them I was quite worried about. Dr. Christianson immediately knew that it was from mosquitoes. She also was extremely informative and explained everything very thoroughly.
