This is an excellent group of veterinarians who specialize in cats. We had been clients of theirs for almost 2 decades. The reason for 3 stars is the recent change in the cancellation policy. Earlier this year I had made an appointment to take my cats in for their annual exam. The clinic called to reschedule because the vet had something come up. I said sure, no problem. Fast forward to me not being able to make the new appointment in time due to feline uncooperation. They said now I had to pay a "deposit" for a new appointment. I had never been late or missed an appointment before in over 15 years! Mind you, if I had kept my original time there would have been someone home to help me wrangle my rascals. Anyway, I don't think it's fair that I should change my time for you but you won't allow me any grace when I need some?? In any case, I accepted the fault as mine and moved on. It is now the end of May, the Monday after the tornado hit Houston, and I get an email from the cat clinic about how many people are canceling and how now there will be a deposit for cancellations. I understand you are a business, but this is in poor taste. People are canceling because they don't have power or their homes are damaged or worse. This review is for that. Again, the best cat vets in town. Never had an issue in the many years we were there until this.

I have been coming here with my cats for 6 years and the professionalism, promptness, and care here is top notch. I have never been disappointed and I feel totally comfortable bringing my cats here because I know they are in loving, capable care. I love that they only take care of cats because I feel like it could be jarring for my indoor cats (that have never seen/heard a dog in their life) to go to a regular vet. My cats have been seen by all of the vets on staff and all are wonderful and compassionate. The office is kept pristine and is very quiet. You really couldn't ask for a better feline vet experience!

I used to work at Cats Exclusive veterinary clinic in Seattle, so when we moved to Houston we looked for a cat-only clinic for our Chloe Sundance. Chloe was elderly, eventually diagnosed with abdominal cancer, and we lost her last year. However, the care care she had at Cat Vet Clinic was the best. We then adopted two a mom and kitten from a shelter and brought them in for their exams last August. The mom, Khaleesi, has asthma and again, the care was the best. Khaleesi and her daughter, Murderbus are on the schedule for their annuals next Sunday and I have no doubt they will be in good hands. (They haven't seen Murderbus since last year, and she's all grown up now...Haha!) We've seen several different doctors there, and I can only say they are all excellent. Reception is knowledgeable and really has it together. All around great clinic, very devoted to cats - and while I no longer work in a clinic, my experience with cats and their care makes me appreciate this group even more. Highly recommended!

My darling cat (DC) loves this vet's office. That is a flat out lie, she looks upon the world with disdain *DISDAIN* when she is forced from her comfortable fleece-lined box and into any other place. I was going to go into details and mention a list of specific places, but really any place outside our home, and she throws a little hissy fit. It's like we've missed the chair to couch jump and stepped in the carpet lava. "WHAT!!! did you JUST DO, Lady Cray Cray?! Now my paws will melt!" Oh, and if it's a place that's going to poke and prod her and take her temperature, she turns into Linda Blair with the added bonus of launching her fur into your eyes and mouth. I bring her here because I like it. The vets know cats. After testing out other vets for the first seventeen years of her life, I read a long since disappeared yelper's review of The Cat Vet Clinic's previous home: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-cat-vet-clinic-houston and decided to take DC here (there), as well. Why was I taking 18 year old DC to vets that treat all animals as if they are just slightly different types of dogs? She's an old lady cat and she's like my teenage daughter. So we shopped around and found a very good fit. Actually she has seen all of the vets here, and (the royal) we're happy with all of them. For example, DC injured her chin and got really, really sick. I was mortified since she was so old. The vet explained the procedure to me, my options, and the possible side effects. I respect a doctor or dentist who explains what is happening and what they are doing to ME, so I expect that with a vet, as well. Neither vet has let me down. Everything has always been explained in a no nonsense way - which I completely respect. When DC needed to switch to a subcutaneous drip lifestyle, the vets along with the technicians helped me ease DC into the daily routine. The first month was a bit daunting. I danced in place quite a bit and DC hid during each dance routine. However once the learning curve was behind us, it became no thang, so to speak. While the previous location was in a convenient part of town and was housed in two old houses with a nice biggish parking area/backyard, the new place is nice as well. The parking situation is horrid, but don't let that throw you.

Wonderful service, kitty got a little fever and doc took care of her right away despite being a walk in client! The staff is friendly and easy to talk to and very informative. They are funny and make you feel relaxed and give you a run down of some of their feline residence! I forgot the cats names lol but the Siamese boy has a nice background story and he's just so special and adorbs!! He's so big and cuddly and just love able. The fee for the consultation, examination, and 3 medications was around $120. The parking is a bit iffy and almost backed up into a traffic sign lol but there is available parking on side of street.

Bella Luna, happy and healthy thanks to Dr Philip

I came across this practice on Yelp and noticed so many pet owners praising Dr. Clive's genuine, heartfelt care--and now I understand why. From the moment we walked in, the staff made me feel like my dogs were their top priority. Scheduling the appointment was easy, pricing was very transparent with no surprises, and everyone went above and beyond to ensure Flex and Apollo were comfortable. Even when we had to wait on the radiologist to review X-rays, I never felt rushed out. Instead, I was given time to sit with my boy and take in what I thought might be one of our last moments together. Thankfully, we received some hopeful news, though we still have a mountain to climb and a CT scan ahead. Through it all, I could see and feel how much Dr. Clive and his team truly care about their patients and the people who love them. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for compassionate, thorough, and trustworthy veterinary care.

About three weeks ago, we had to do the unimaginable. Our oldest pup had kidney failure and we had no choice but to let her go to sleep a final time. We called ahead so the team would be prepared. What I didn't expect was the professionalism, empathy and preparation we received. For starters, they have a private, separate entrance to accommodate the gravity of the situation. You enter into a room where you are given time to spend with your pup and family in these difficult final moments. Only when you're ready do you signal via a silent button for the vet and tech to come in. They explain the process and give you a little more time to say goodbye. After a final confirmation, the process begins and is over quickly. Throughout the process, the technician is stabilizing your pup and saying sweet words to them and us. We had the option to hold the pup ourselves but couldn't. When it was over, we were allowed to remain in the room by ourselves until we were ready to leave through the same private door. I thank Garden Oaks Veterinary Clinic for their support, compassion and their private accommodations. I can't think of a more respectful way to handle such a difficult situation. A final comment, they have after death care services available as well.

A Diagnostic Virtuoso: The "Mozart" of Veterinary Medicine…read more As a retired Clinical Director who has spent a career hiring and evaluating medical professionals, I have an exceptionally high standard for clinical competence and professional integrity. For months, I searched for answers for my 123-pound gentle giant, Axel. I took him to several well-known clinics in Houston, but regrettably, they failed to find even the single mass I had discovered myself. They simply fumbled the opening statement. Then, I found Dr. Anna Parham at PetCare Express on Holcombe Boulevard. Dr. Parham is a true prodigy of her craft. While others relied on expensive overhead and corporate checklists, she used her hands and her clinical intuition--the soul of medicine that is clearly in her DNA. Within minutes, she identified three separate masses that the previous clinics had entirely missed. She performed a single FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) to confirm the nature of the primary mass, while her expert clinical touch immediately identified the others as typical, benign lipomas. She gave us the unremarkable exam result we had been searching for. From the moment we walked into PetCare Express, the entire staff was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful. In a high-pressure field, their genuine caring and support created a seamless, stress-free environment for both me and my dog. Dr. Parham found in minutes what high-priced hospitals missed for months. She recognized a client who values quality and met that standard with an honest, transparent diagnosis. In a city of systemic predatory patterns, Dr. Anna Parham and the team at PetCare Express are a sanctuary of honesty. She is young, brilliant, and possesses a natural mastery of medicine that mirrors a virtuoso. Axel walked out a perfect patient, and I walked out knowing I have finally found the successor to the great legacy vets of Houston.

Dog is needing surgical services and like any animal owner I'd like to know a range of pricing to understand where I'm going to land. They immediately try to schedule an appt for a "consultation" and tell you you HAVE to pay a $50 deposit for this great honor, apparently. I told her before I commit to an appt I'm trying to see between them, blue pearl, and other facilities that are through our rescue network. She said verbatim "legally I cannot disclose pricing that's a conversation after you pay your deposit and have the consultation with your doctor". What? Are you kidding me? This tells me a few things, their pricing is astronomical and they try to lock you into surgery or lose your deposit. And they can't be trusted.
