Fantastic as always! The food is excellent, the service is top notch and we love the location nestled in wine country in Geyserville. Catelli's is really great when you bring wine in from your day's treasures from wine tasting. They have yet to charge us their corkage fee but we always order a few appetizers, meals and other beverages as we come in a group. They do make some really awesome cocktails as well. Best appetizers we have had! Calamari, burrata and prosciutto (my absolute fave), and meatball sliders (super good! If there are 4 of you, they will add another!). Great dishes: 10 layer lasagna, ravioli, lamb shank, hanger steak, chicken parm. They also have gluten free options and will substitute veggies instead of a pasta side! We had an outstanding meal here. The secluded outdoor garden table with heater made me feel like I was in Italy. The server recommended a great wine and the food was delicious. The only issue was that there was no bread served before or with the meal, which was really needed to take advantage of the delicious sauces. The bus person asked us if we wanted bread when the food was delivered, but it never came. I would definitely return when I am next in Geyserville. My husband and I met another couple here for dinner and had a great time. I love the atmosphere of this historic old restaurant and bar. Despite the small town location, the place was packed. It was an adult crowd. I didn't see any children at all but I'm sure they are welcome. We brought our own wine and were not charged a corkage fee. The appetizer we chose was perfect...burrata, chopped arugula, creamy mozzarella, and prosciutto. So good! For dinner I had spaghetti and clams with red sauce. What a presentation! This one dish had at least 20 clams in their open shells. It tasted fantastic and I took home enough for the next day's lunch! Hubby had chicken picatta served on polenta. I had a taste and agreed with him that it was to die for! Our friends shared a Caesar salad and both had 10-layer lasagna. The waiter said they make their own pasta in house. The pasta is paper-thin. That's how ten layers did not look overwhelming. They loved it! We couldn't pass up dessert. Hubby and I shared a molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The molten chocolate center tasted like fudge. We were so immersed in our dessert we didn't pay attention to what our friends had. But I do remember they were happy with it! We had a wonderful meal here the other night. This restaurant is Italian in theme. They do it well. We had a nice salad to begin. The dressing reminded us of what we used to call s Russian dressing. It was very good. Rebecca had the lasagna; it was one of the best she had ever had. It was not too heavy; it was not dry. It was wonderful. I had Michael's pasta. They served it with a penne pasta. It had a rich meat sauce. The best part was the sausage. It was tasty. We washed the pasta Goe with a very nice diLorimer Zinfandel. Yum. This place exceeded expectations. Good prompt service. After spending a day in the Napa Valley we were getting ready to head out of the area and decided to find a place to eat before we left. They were booked for the evening but had a table we could have if we could order and eat within an hour, before the next group came in. We shared a calamari and I had the beet salad. The beet salad was tasty but I didnt like the arugula in it, only because I am not a fan of arugula. My husband had Filet of Sole in a lemon cream sauce, he thought it was so delicious. As usual and now expected, the food was on point and the service exceptional. We are locals and bring friends, family and business partners to Catellis because we know they will have a great experience. Last night, one of our guests visiting from Texas had some very specific dietary needs. John, our service person,'took her needs and her order like a pro! He wasn't condescending, he treated her as well as the rest of our guests with dignity and respect. Of course, the kitchen did a phenomenal job with her dish as well as the others. It is with this level of customer service and quality of food, that we will continue to recommend and be patrons of Catellis. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Absolutely amazing! Food: We had the truffle fries, lasagna, penne with the house marinara, and a black berry and peach fruit crisp with vanilla ice cream. The lasagna was surprisingly light, unlike the really heavy ones you get everywhere else, and probably the best I've ever had. All of their ingredients were incredibly fresh, from the bread, to the marinara sauce, to the fruit crisp. Service: Our waiter was really friendly and energetic. Not only was he really knowledgeable about the food and wine, but he gave me multiple tastings of wine just to pick which one I would want a single glass of. As the restaurant was founded in 1937, he also had some great stories on the history of the place. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area or even driving by at any point. We had not been at this restaurant for years. But we decided to give a try because of the outdoor seating. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in their patio. It is has such a nice ambiance with all those beautiful plants surrounding the patio! The service was good, the waitresses are kind and polite. Their appetizers are excellent but the main dishes leave a lot to be desired for a restaurant at these price levels. We have been there twice lately, one time we had the mushroom sauce which was way too rich (with way too much cream)! The second time we ordered the tomato sauce and it was so strong flavored, salty, and had a strong aftertaste. A total disappointment. A store bought spaghetti sauce would have been better than this sauce, it had pieces of what was clearly canned tomatoes not cooked enough. There was no subtlety in these sauces and they were both unhealthy. What a shame, because we enjoyed the outdoor seating, the atmosphere and the service. An Italian restaurant needs to have made from scratch sauces that are not heavy and strong flavored! read more

Ontop of polenta with a sad wilted leaf ontop??? WTF?!!? Guys, what happens to something soft like polenta when submerged in liquid? It ALL becomes liquid, so dont count on actually expect to taste your polenta. Rubbery chicken thighs instead of meaty breasts. Ugh, so sad. 2) Dry lemon flavored carbonara? Carbonara isnt a lemon pasta!!!! And their menu says theres cream in the sauce but what u get has no sauce with cream not to be found anywhere. Call it whatever you want and sell that, but DONT call it carbonara. I really wanted to try the lasagna but got roped into another disappointing dish. Menu is a little too simple. They serve small basic plates of spaghetti or penne with some sauce for over $20??? Pasta is like the cheapest and easiest food to make in the world and they charge it like its prime rib. These guys are makin crazy money hand over fist and laughing at you all the way to the bank because you paid a premium for kindergarten food. I've been avoiding Catelli's for years, still holding a torch for the former and excellent Santi (whose staff have gone on to open other excellent places: Scopa, Diavola etc). I finally decided to give it a shot and it was pretty much what I dreaded: over-priced, mediocre Italian food masquerading as fancy. Nothing on the menu was innovative or even that appealing. Giving customers a choice of pasta sauce and type of noodle is seriously low-brow in my book. We had a halibut special which was overly-seasoned and dry, and some kind of forgettable salad. Also, I like real butter or olive oil with my bread, not sundried tomato spread. We sat at the bar, and the service was friendly, but not very professional. I can say this: other customers seemed to be enjoying themselves, and from all the reviews, lots of people like the food. I'll admit-I am hard to please when it comes to dining out, but this place is not up to par with other restaurants in the area. It reminds me of a tourist trap in North Beach. read more

Just got back from a birthday dinner here. Our first time, and we enjoyed it a lot. The ambience was warm and family-friendly. Prices are very reasonable. You can get a burger, or pasta, or a sandwich, and get out for under $20 per person with soft drinks. Or you can splurge on a veal chop for $25 and get as good a bottle of wine as you can afford. Speaking of which, they have a decent selection of wine by the glass from $6 - $12. The food is Italian for the most part, and very good. Service was fast and friendly. We started with mini meatball sliders, which came on soft rolls. The meatballs were tender and juicy, and had a very nice tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. I had the meat ravioli as my main course, and my wife had the penne with butter, garlic, and parmesan. Both dishes were excellent. We finished the evening off with slices of the house-made cheesecake. We've lived in Healdsburg for more than 10 years, and we've always wanted a nice, comfortable neighborhood Italian place with moderate prices. Giorgio's is horrible. Scopa is wonderful, but too expensive to go to on a whim. I think Catelli's is just right. read more

I'm pretty darn sure that my review would be drastically different than anyone at my table. I was there with a group of 6 people, and we'd heard about the lasagna, but I really was in no mood for lasagna. This I'm sure was my own fault for not just getting it anyway. In a different situation, with a different dish, I'm betting this would have been a four-star review, but it isn't one. First, they have a great policy on wine. If you bring in a wine from the Sonoma valley, there is no corkage. That is awesome. That being said, I am currently pregnant, and wasn't drinking. At no time did anyone ask if I wanted to drink anything. They just poured the bottles we brought and had water on the table. I didn't really expect that when I refused the wine they wouldn't ask if I wanted something else. I was baffled. One star ding right there. We got an artichoke pesto dip, which most of the people at the table liked, but I found it really greasy. Usually a dip like this would be more creamy, but I found that it had broken, so I wasn't that plussed. The flavors were okay, but it was a touch salty. For dinner, I got the spaghetti with clams and white sauce. There was a ton of garlic, lots of flavor, and all of the clams came in the shell. IE, there weren't a ton of clams, and the sauce was mostly oil. I thought initially this was a positive, and the pasta itself had a nice toothsome quality, which I am a huge fan of, but as it cooled, it just became impossible to eat. Also, the clams had grit. Not one clam, but at least 2-3, which stopped me in my tracks from finishing. One star ding there too. No grit in the clams folks! I did try their signature lasagna, as well as their meat ravioli. The ravioli filling was excellent, and they got the garlic butter sauce. It was tasty, light, and I'd order that again. The pasta was a touch thin for my liking. The lasagna I tried had the meat sauce and well, the pasta was too thin. I know that was their thing, but having no texture at all to pasta was disconcerting. The flavor was great, but just a little bit of tooth to the lasagna would have made it a really stellar dish. Instead, it was good. I'm sure I'll end up back here at some point, as my parents love this place like another child, but I'm staying away from their clams, and would not do it again when it is that crowded. One of the all-time great meals. Astonishingly good. Truly gorgeous, simple food and knowledgable, mature service. Particularly wonderful dishes: meatball sliders, local lamb ragu pasta, kale salad with biodynamic walnuts and organic oranges, grilled porterhouse that can practically feed a whole family, the exquisite burrata with melty, dissolvy prosciutto, and grilled local cod that has just the right hint of carmelization. There's a wide, beautifully curated selection of wines by the glass, not just the bottle. (A girl can get quite drunk drinking a whole bottle by herself at the bar, I'm sure you know.) The Mendocino Farms Cabernet was a great value (and a large pour). Actually, everything on the menu is great value. This was a spectacular meal at any price, but dinner at Catelli's is really a remarkable deal. The food is almost all locally sourced and organic, but Catelli's doesn't broadcast this in a self-satisfied, obnoxious manner. It's just part of the philosophy. Catelli's doesn't care about being cool, they just care about food. Like me. And Domenica Catelli really is a genius. Part of her genius is that in spite of her celebrity, there is no ego in the place or the food. Just love. I love you too, Catelli's. The best part of loving you, Catelli's, is that I know you love me back. I know this because I sat by myself at the bar and Anna was so kind and knowledgable and attentive I just wanted to bite her. I know you love me because it was busy and bustling and I didn't have a reservation and the warm, adorable greeter (Nick?) fit me right in. Thank you, Nick, you darling thing. YIKES we were absolutely shocked by all the ohso pretentious Yuppies crowding into this place to pay exhorbitant prices for just average food& mediocre service ---- their prices are so out of line for this small 2 block town area that it's a JOKE! who do they think they are anyway? Our bill for 1 small-sized Bloody Mary, 1 CoorsLite in the bottle and one very tiny (4 small slices-3" across) plate of bruchetta w/sprinkle of asparaus appetizer was almost $28.00!!!!! It was Mothers Day afternoon (3:50) and the male owner/matre di was rude taking 2 phone calls while forcing us to listen then wait while he tried to find us a table in the 3/4 empty dining rm., claiming he had "many" reservations but thought he could get us in and OUT in time by giving us the worst seat in the house which he TRULY did accomplish as -- out of the 40 min. time spent there we ate/drank in 15 while spending 25 just in waiting -- gladly left at 4:30..... NEVER will return or recommend (burgers over $18????) and sorry that I have formerly recommended as a volunteer at the Chamber's nearby Visitors Center. Ken M. read more

It's cute & their atmosphere seemed just right yet our chances of actually eating here was slim to none. We walked in only to have the snooty maître d tell us the wait exceeded 2-hours as they were taking care of the customers who had made reservations. Odd as 3/4 of their dining room was empty so if those people made reservations then where in the world were they as they weren't sitting at their tables and based on the size of the restaurant I'm pretty sure that all those people weren't in the bathroom at that exact moment leaving the tables to be empty for other potential diners such as ourselves & the other 1/2 dozen folks to walk right out your door. read more

We spent the day at Coppola winery & decided to check Yelp for a fun dinner place on our way to Sonoma. So glad this amazing restaurant popped up! Absolutely charming from the moment we walked in. Friendly staff, and great layout. Our server was engaged and helped us choose a fantastic meal, starting with the lavender lemon drops, to The prosciutto and burrato cheese salad with the best bread I've ever had. My friend had the 10-later lasagna with meatballs, delicious! I had the pasta & meat sauce which was superb. Our server was attentive and talked us into the locally made pistachio & cherry ice cream. So it was by chance we came here. Just driving through on our way back from Coppola's. We were going to go to the pizza joint down the street BUT they were BBQ'ing right out front and it smelled amazing! SOLD! Staff was friendly, place a clean with white linen on the tables and old french water bottles for water. But tv's up in the corner near teh bar area. GF#1 ordered the BBQ chicken. She said that it smelled better than she thought, I tasted it - and it was alright. GF#2 & I split calamari and an order of hot artichoke dip. Plus I got a side house salad. All were very yummy!!!! If you didn't see the prices and just ate the meal you would think it costs 2-3x. Homestyle italian cooking in a fun family environment at a reasonable price with scrumptious food and a name brand chef to go with it - basically an all around great meal out. Tried the Kale salad and the Ravioli with butter garlic sauce and cheese filling. I usually hate kale but the salad was incredible, one of the best i've had in quite some time (absolutely order this). The pasta is homemade and after trying it you'll notice that it makes a difference. Butter garlic sauce was not too heavy and a good size portion where you feel full without being stuffed. They support local wineries and just buy Sonoma wine. Lucky for you they are situated at the intersection of Dry creek and Alexander Valley and have no shortage of amazing wine. Tried the dancing lady zin and Pedroncelli cab, neither of which i had heard of but both were very good. Great restaurant for groups, parties or just a dinner for 2. The vibe is pretty casual and inviting, has that homey italian feel. If you are planning to be in the area, find your way to Catelli's, you will be glad you did. Catelli is an establishment in a good way. Solid food, decent price drinks. It is a place to stop by for a great pasta dish. I normally don't especially like Italian, but I like what this place has to offer. We dine out at the patio, which is quite unexpected to find after walking through a hustle and bustle dinning room. I like it as they have many heat lamp to keep you warm in the cool autumn night. Salad is not very big, the entree is. I had fresh cod that's perfectly cooked with polenta. Silly thing was a moth dove into my dish, only towards the end. The service was excellent, and this place is packed with local and vacationers, couple, families and old friends. I finally got to try Catelli's on Friday night with a great group of friends. It was an amazing experience. We got to sit on the back patio and the weather was beautiful. The standout appetizer was the fig - it just melted in your mouth. The burratta was amazing too. We all picked a different entree and then they served them all family style so we got to try a ton of different things. Michael's pasta and the Mushroom cream penne were everyone's favorites. Please don't think I'm biased because my own business is neighbors with this restaurant. Quite honestly this was my first real meal there (i've had take out lunch salads but not a sit down dinner). Went with my husband on Sat night. Star was our server-awesome. Super knowledgable about the menu and gave us lots of options and answers to our questions. We had the meatball sliders for the app-awesome! We shared the beet salad which was a special and then my husband got the meat ravioli and I had the pasta of the moment-a pesto, mint, asparagus, pancetta creation. Really good. We brought a bottle of wine and they waived corkage because we are local. We were shocked and overjoyed at our bill amount. $53! This is GREAT for us because we still had to go home and pay the babysitter. This means that we will be able to go out, get dressed up if we want, although casual is fine here, OFTEN! As good as it gets is right! Do yourself a favor and get the burrata appetizer. Don't miss out on the sliders either! I have dined there at least 6 times and have been dazzled by every dish I have tried. Even the simple salads are an amazing burst of flavors. Quality ingredients all around. The burgers are excellent as are the fries, but you would be doing yourself a disservice if you did not try the lasagna and ravioli as well. Just know going in that it is traditional Italian lasagna with delicate sheets of pasta layered majestically. It does not eat like a Stouffer's lasagna, just know what you are signing up for. Saw it on the food network and it definitely deserved the hype! Go with friends and share so you can try everything. Not that I had room, but the strawberry rhubarb crisp was also beyond excellent.
