My boyfriend & I were visiting Inverness and wanted to stop for coffee on our way out! We were excited to try this local coffee shop - plenty of parking outside and the venue is huge - so many tables and chairs as well as couch seating and bench seating. The venue is so cute and spacious! There were only a few customers in line before us, not too busy. We ordered the roast beef & cheddar sandwich, breakfast sandwich, banana nut bread muffin and two specialty coffees, which only took about 5 minutes for total order to be delivered to our table. The speciality coffees were very rich but yummy. The sandwiches were eh - kind of disappointing because not very filling and the bread was overbearing - they overcompensated for the lack of meat in the sandwiches. However, the banana nut muffin was ok - not as moist or fresh as I expected ... was hoping for some real banana chunks. But, I still ate the WHOLE thing! Overall, the atmosphere and service was very good and the coffees were unique and tasty. But the food was a tad disappointing. read more

Okay I get the hype and it was worth it. I heard about this place for years but I'm rarely in Inverness. We had to get the car worked on so we stopped in and I was not disappointed. I got a chai tea with almond milk and my husband got a cappuccino. Both were awesome and exactly how we ordered it. I got a bagel breakfast sandwich with veggies and he got a Vietnamese chicken lettuce wrap. Both were amazing and better than expected. We will be back and check out other locations now that we know it's worth it. read more

The server was angry because I asked her to cut my cinnamon roll in half. The cinnamon roll was dry and tasteless. The coffee was mediocre and that's being generous. Inverness need a better coffee shop. read more

Used to love cattle dog, but today we went in and used the QR code near the front of the store to order our food. The QR code sent me straight to order at the Hernando store (unknowingly). Order at the Hernando store and when I called to cancel the order I was told that it would not be cancelled and I would not received a refund. Explained that the QR code did not give me an option to pick a location, it automatically sent me to Hernando and I was told to call the help line on the app that I ordered from. Again, I was told I would not receive a refund. Re-ordered the same order at the Inverness location online, which included a boba tea. When we received our order, we were given a regular straw with the boba, no boba straw. We asked for a boba straw and we were told that they were out of them, but we could go next door and buy one?? If I wanted to buy one from the next store, I would have bought the boba there instead, and not wasted my time. One of our "hot" breakfast sandwiches was cold as well. Will not be returning any time soon. read more

We held our monthly Inverness Meet & Greet at The Cattle Dog. I can't say enough about how smoothly and pleasantly the staff handled 30+ members. They made our visit comfortable with smiles and politeness. The food was great with ample portions. I had the Chicken Salad with pecans & cranberries. It was wonderful and full of flavor. The cookies were just as good as the sandwich. Potato chips, pickle slices and coffee/tea finished up the meal that cost less than most fast food meals (but much better and I am sure healthier) We will certainly return BRAVO!!! read more

Cattle dogs: Always say something nice first.... The restaurant was clean, decor was sweet, the young lady at the counter was polite. We paid $23 for two small hamburgers, 2 medium unsweet teas & 2 ounces of Cape Cod Kettle Chips. When I ask for an unsweet to go there was a $1 extra charge. You be the judge! When the place has few customers during lunch hour "there's your sign." I would not recommend & we certainly will not be back. read more

On my visit visit to Cattle dog, I was impressed by the restaurants look when I walked in. I ordered a scooped out bagel with bacon, egg and cheese and the short bleach blonde and pink haired girl taking the order at register didn't seem to understand what a scooped out bagel was, so I proceeded to explain, she said, our bagels already have holes. So, I explained again, she then commented "Well, We Not in New York" in a very nasty tone as if I was bothering her with this order. I stopped that conversation right there, said ok never mind. I found that extremely offensive for her to comment to me that way, clearly assuming from my accent I am from New York. Two people behind me shook there head and said that comment was uncalled for. I've worked in retail and owned a restaurant for many years, and if one of my workers ever spoke to a customer the way she spoke to me, I would show her the door. read more

Perfect place to bring a group of people to play a board game, have a Bible study, or a meeting. There are some nice chairs for sitting and reading as well. Not very busy, the condiment station was dirty, no napkins, creamer was low. i ordered a Cali toast, which had a tomato so anemic looking I wouldn't feed it to my chickens. Negatives:Poor communicator. No smile, just stare. When ordering a Frappuccino she said "we don't have fraps, we have freezes". I guess my order was out of technical sync. She then asked what flavor. We said coffee, she said yes, but what flavor.. again, coffee. She then said plain? To which, I replied yes. Lol. As far as the quality of the freeze.. she was right... it was PLAIN.. very little coffee flavor at all. Positives: very clean, we decorated, large dinning area. Location is great. Close to downtown restaurants and shopping and "Rails to Trails bike path". In all fairness if it's rating, I've had their hot coffee over a year ago, not long after they had opened and it was excellent. They serve sandwiches and danishes, which are made to order and baked on the premises. Would have earned higher rating if the customer service was more personal than just someone possessing a job and doing what she had to do to get a check... notice I didn't say Earn a check.. The wait staff are very friendly. I was greeted quickly and with a smile which is always nice. The shop is also beautiful and very large, successful in their model for sure. It is important to meet the needs of the people you serve and to stretch their comfort zones in order to show them the joy of your craft. The coffee shop has an article with the coffee roasting spectrum and it is very limited to only medium dark to fully burnt (French). Nowhere in the article do they speak of the light - medium spectrum, the area in which the best quality coffees display their terroir. Many second wave roasters roast the beans darker to mask the not so favorable coffees they are able to source. A roaster that keeps up on the trends in coffee is an asset to the people they serve and to the coffee supply chain. Beans stored for long periods in glass jars allowing for light to degrade the quality in addition to holding a bean past its best by date. A beautiful super automatic adorns the counter where the non-barista wait staff can drop a wand into the milk and tamp an espresso haphazardly to create a standard no frills mid quality cup. On the other side of the shop shows a chart of common coffee and espresso drinks, many they either don't offer or don't have in their standard iteration, ie: the cappuccino. The wait staff are minimum wage employees not expected to learn the skills of a masterful barista. One told me that the nitro in the cold brew helps to "get it going" through your system. She meant well but isn't informed on how and why nitro cold brew is made or what makes it special. It's a missed opportunity to teach the young staff the joys of really caring for the product they sell and make. A good barista is an artisan. Although this shop is a huge step up from the Dunkin and Starbucks crowds it still misses the third wave standard many are used to in bigger cities. read more

So between two incidents at this establishment I have decided I will not be returning. I had a meeting at Cattle Dogs with at least 7 people each time. When my managers asked to use the conference table, they stated that unless every person bought a full meal, we could not sit there. Mind you this place is not super busy and no one was sitting back there. Then in one of the meetings they came over and interrupted our meeting to tell us that two of the people that brought outdoor drinks had to throw their drinks out. Mind you most people ordered stuff too eat and drink. First of all, you do not interrupt customers having a business meeting and to be so rude is unacceptable. Second of all, it is not like you were that busy that you could not allow this meeting to take place at that table where it is more private for the content of our discussion as it is sensitive information. The conference table was not in use at the time that we came in. I have also heard from someone else that yesterday they also had a bad experience too. This should not be happening this frequently. There is a lack of good customer service at this establishment for mediocre food and overpriced drinks. I will not be a customer of this establishment ever again. And you have lost other customers from this agency who work right across the street. I do not recommend this place. We love Cattle Dog, it's an excellent place to stop and enjoy a coffee and pastry. The brunch on the weekends features some delicious and ever changing options, the menu is updated for the seasons and always includes a variety to impress any palate, including gluten free and vegetarian options. Our favorites have been the cannoli crepes, the black bean burger, and the best cinnamon buns I have found in the area. The breakfast sandwiches are simple, but perfect. There are many different coffee and tea choices. The only downside is that there is never any consistency in the chocolate chip cookies that my son always insists on having as his treat, sometimes they are delicious and other times rock hard, there is also no consistency in drinks as some baristas make them quite different. Overall, we enjoy our weekend trip to Cattle Dog! read more

Ok I'm writing this while eating my last meal here and I'm super bummed. I'm moving out of town and cattle dogs has been my go to lunch and coffee spot for over a year. The food is fresh and amazing flavors, literally I have not had one meal I don't like and I try something new everytime, my personal favorites have been the lobster omelet with spring mix on the side, the jerk chicken wrap, the grilled sweet potatoes with poached egg on top (was a special couple weekends ago) and then for my last meal the veggie hummus wrap with chicken added to it. Freakin fantastic! I love their espresso, and for coffee drinks I always get the iced mocha latte with almond milk or the chai latte with almond milk. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST AND IM SAD TO MOVE AWAY FROM IT!!!! read more

Love them at Citrus Memorial Hospital & Downtown Inverness. Best chicken salad sandwich on croissant EVER! Like mine topped with lettuce tomato and onions. Coffee and Tea selections are off the chart. My hubby loves their cinnamon rolls. Best muffins EVER, they are awesome. I got two different ones and halved them with him or a friend so we get to try two different ones each time!! Looking forward to the cafe opening on Hwy 41 N at Inverness/City of Hernando!! I work super close to the CDCR in downtown Inverness. I usually get a large iced Mandarin Moo coffee and a muffin or pastry. I recently discovered their wrap and sandwich menu and I can tell you it's amazing!! I order the steak portobello wrap one to two times a week!! It's served cold but is also sooo good when it's warmed up. This is a wonderful coffee shop with a great assortment of options whether it be coffees or teas, and the food is nothing short of extraordinary and bistro like.
