This is our local steakhouse and they have managed to do well (with accommodations ) through COVID! Thankfully, the salad bar is still open except someone makes your salad and you are required to wear a mask. You tell them what toppings you want and they fix it! I like the change. It still has plexiglass sneeze guards up too. All staff members are temperature checked and required to wear a mask. Today, we had 3 in our party for lunch and we all had ribeyes! I ordered the bone in ribeye , not realizing there was a smaller steak available!! We all had loaded potatoes and 2 of us had salad bar. My nephew got his steak bourbon glazed with haystacks of fried onions. Our steak was cooked to perfection. We got a basket of rolls and they could have spent a few extra minutes in the oven as they were a bit chewy. Everything else was good! We were famished and the closest place to order food that is not fast food is this restaurant. I like it that it's just a few minute walk from our hotel. I ordered online- the website seemed very easy to navigate and choosing the food is not a problem since the website offers plenty of descriptions on their website. Food is just standard- deep fried and greasy. Not a lot of seasoning, but the fish tasted better with the tartar sauce. The deep fried tomatoes, I had better ones from a different restaurant. My fried tomatoes seemed overdone because it's hard and falls apart when I bit on it. The service was fast- the food was ready in the next 30 minutes and when I went to pick up my order, they packaged all the food nicely and neatly- no spills or smeared food outside the styrofoams. Stopped at Cattleman's Road House in MT Sterling, KY with my family of 4--consisting of two children. So many places do not acquire a mask. We were turned away because we did not have masks available and the establishment did not have any to offer. People all around and coming out of the establishment did not have a masks. Food and service continue to impress. Everything I've ordered from the menu has been wonderful. Steaks are cooked to perfection, flavorful and juicy. The salad bar is always well maintained and impeccable. What continues to amaze me about Cattleman's, and several other businesses alike, is that the same attention to detail is not followed on the outside of the building as it is inside. Trash in parking area and hundreds of cigarette butts thrown around the front exterior entrance. There was anther waitress in the kitchen vaping. We asked to speak with a manger, after informing him of what we saw and our wait/missed order, he was rude and walked off to get our bill. Why not get head start and see what the hype is about?!? It was only a 15 minute wait and well worth the wait and the drive. I ordered the 7oz Cattleman top sirloin steak. It came with a side and for an extra $2.99 I added the unlimited salad bar too. Pretty much everything on the menu more than $6.99 you can add a salad to, for $2.99, even the appetizers. Or, you can just make your meal out of the unlimited salad for $8.99. The salad bar was top notch. There was someone stocking and attending to it the entire time that we were there. My steak was good. I ordered it medium well, but it was well done. I was ok with it though. As my side I chose a baked potato. If you order the salad bar, you can get cheese and bacon from the salad bar, so save your money and don't order the potato loaded. The bar is fully stocked. They have a good selection of bourbon. We were greeted by a young lady that never looked up from the podium but just asked "how many?" It was so cold that I had to go out to the car to get a sweatshirt. Upon reentering, that same young lady was sweeping and stated, again without looking up, "I'd rather be dead in a ditch or have my throat slit than be here." Obviously not a good first impression. Mt. Sterling has very slim pickings on where you can grab a beer and some good sit down food. Thank goodness, the Cattlemans Roadhouse pulled into town. It is like any other steak house with the animal heads on the wall and a lot of unfinished wood everywhere. I went here for lunch with my sister the last time I was in town. We opted for the unlimited salad bar so we could not feel guilty as we washed them down with some ice cold beer. The waitress suggested we try the Sam Adams Cold Crisp. She gave us a sample of it and it was on. It was a great wheat beer with out being overly sweet. The salad bar was pretty well stocked and the workers kept it really clean. I was impressed. Cattlemans, where have you been all my life? I just devoured one of the best steaks I've ever eaten! It was cooked to a perfect med-rare. If your a salad bar fan, this is your spot. They not only have standard salad bar fare, but also super yummy salads, like their loaded baked potato salad! The rolls had really great bread flavor, and the service was excellent as well! As a side I had the Mac and cheese and it was really good. The pasta wasn't mushy, and the cheese sauce was super! We will definitely be returning on a regular basis! read more

Then, they brought out these rubbery, cold, most disgusting chicken tenders I have ever seen/ tasted in my life. They were not edible and we even found a bone in it. Our waitress Kayla was outstanding!! And the girl behind the salad bar was spot on! Than it all went downhill from there. All the workers were wearing their mask except for 1 female who wore her at backwards which is no big deal to me but the entire time her mask was below her nose! What's the point of that? Our food came out and all 3 of ours were tasteless the chicken breast was overcooked and flavorless. My husband steak had no flavor nor did the beef tips so disappointed. It was clean and we were seated right away. The wait staff was very nice and they took our order promptly. I ordered ribs and my son ordered a sirloin steak. We also ordered the Sampler appetizer that included wings, mozzarella sticks, and potato skins. All were good, but nothing spectacular. My ribs were very good and tender enough to eat with a fork. Cattlemen's is too expensive for the quality of their food. The steaks are either raw or over cooked. The service isn't very friendly. They up charge you for EVERYTHING here! I wanted cheese on my burger and it was an extra $1. Ridiculous. The food isn't near as good as other steak houses such as longhorn. For the prices of their poorly made steaks you can just go to Malone's and drop an extra $5 and get an amazing steak. I do not like this establishment. This is a restaurant plucked right out of Texas. The service was great, but the food was only average. We will give them another try, and adjust the rating accordingly. For the meal we got the salad bar, which was the highlight of the meal. The salad bar is an extra $3.50 per person, but it is worth it. Everything was fresh, and I was able to build an impressive salad. I got the moonshine chicken which was good, and I would order that again. It came with broccoli which was flavorless, and southwest rice which is a side that I wouldn't order again. I love rice, but this rice was not good. My wife got a steak, medium, and it came out rare. The waitress took the steak back to cook it more, and it came back to us well done. We didn't complain and ate the steak, but I think putting it back on the grill after being cut open caused it to lose all of its flavor.
