The salad bar is always great! Everyone in my family are steak eaters and we love the sirloin. Steve is a wonderful server!

This place was pretty decent. Great service though. Jennifer was amazing. But the food wasn't to die for. The only reason I'd come back is to have Jennifer as our server. She was very friendly and funny. I got a burger and fries. The burger tasted like frozen patty's from the Walmart. Nothing too special. Fries were kind of soggy but not too bad. Had an absolutely fabulous meal with my co worker. Stopped in for dinner and drinks as it was close to the hotel. Drinks and service was perfect. The salad bar was amazing and I added it on to my steak special. Had the 6oz ribeye with the salad bar and side of broccoli. Everything was cooked and prepared perfectly. Cattleman's was pretty good when it first opened. Since I live in Dallas, I only come to Mt. sterling a couple of times a year. Every time I go went to Cattleman's, the food was a little more mediocre and the service was a little slower. Now I'll just make the short drive to Lexington to get a decent meal. I really wish this was a better review. I would love to have someplace to go in Mt. Sterling like Cattleman's when it first opened. read more

This place was awesome! Found this place on Yelp while we were driving home to DC from CO. Fantastic service and the steak was pretty darn awesome and cooked the way I love it; black and blue. i've had to send back steaks at Morton's and The Palm in NYC for being overcooked when I've ordered it rare. Those "Steakhouses" should take a lesson from whomever is the grill master here at Cattleman's Roadhouse, on how to cook a black and blue steak, properly! Very typical roadhouse with taxidermy on the walls. What was not typical was their salad bar. It's been a long hot and sweaty day and I wasn't very hungry when we stopped in. Until I saw the salad bar. $8.99 unlimited salad bar! I ordered and zipped my rear up to grab some goodies. Very nice selection and everything was fresh, even down to the real bacon pieces! Husband ordered a burger (sucker) and he said it was "alright". Will I visit this place again when we pass through Mt. Sterling, yes, for the salad bar. read more

I've been to this restaurant many times and this time I can honestly say I've never been more disappointed. We got sat in 25 minutes, which was quicker than the 35 minutes they said it would take. So the experience started off great. But then it took over 45 minutes for us to get our food. In the group of 5 that we had, 4 of us were servers, and one is a manager of a restaurant. People that were sat long after us got their food, checks, and left before we even got our food. A table that got there at the same time as us had left, and a new table had been sat, and received their food before we got our food. Our food was comped 50%, but that doesn't make up for the fact that we had to sit their waiting as those who got there after us, had gotten their food and left. This was the worst experience I've had in a restaurant in my entire life. read more

Cattleman's is probably the best place to eat in the area. I've been here twice for lunch and both times have been pleasant. It's fairly new, as to say the building came up only within the last year or so. I had the sirloin lunch special, which was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Even the side of broccoli was delicious which is more than I can say for a lot of similar-type of restaurants. The salad bar is very much up to par, with a solid variety of offerings. A group of us from work traveled to the Cattleman's Road House in Mount Sterling, KY and the food was ok. One of us got a to go order and when they brought it out, the side of baked beans barely covered the bottom of the container. When asked if she could get more put in since it didn't appear to be a serving, the waitress just took it off her ticket. We were not pleased with the service or the fact that they definitely cheat you on the servings when getting to go orders. Eating out is pricey enough and you should get your money's worth. Don't plan to return for awhile if at all. read more

We often eat at Cattleman's in Shepherdsville but didn't know they were outside our area. I was craving a steak & vegetables so was pleased to find Cattleman 's close by. As always, the salad bar was fantastic. They have fresh food & one of the best broccoli salads I've ever tasted. My steak was not cooked as I ordered, too well done & dry. However my husband ate my steak & gave me his which was cooked properly & good. read more

My friends and I came here because it had been recommended to us. We came in and there was a 25 minute wait, which is expected for a dinner rush. But we didn't get our food for nearly an hour after we had ordered. The manager told us the printer in the kitchen had messed up. But it doesn't make sense that tables that were sat far after us got their food and left before we ever got ours. They did comp off 50% of our food, but a heads up that a malfunction in the kitchen was holding our food up for so long. The third star is a gift, just so you know. Visited this location 3 times since its grand opening and I'll summarize those for you then follow with the 4 or 5 'to go' orders I've picked up. FIRST visit was fabulous. Service was quick, my ribs/sides were great, hot, and plentiful. My wife had Scratch Tenders (chicken tenders) and her dinner was also hot, good, and quick! SECOND visit, cut everything in half. Fairly SLOW and weak service, the 'famous' salad bar didn't even have romaine lettuce available. The wives' chicken tenders were fair, not great. THIRD visit, again, cut it in half again. We're now down to 25% satisfaction. Slow service, still friendly but FULL of Sorry's... When your service is slow and you don't turn out KICKIN' food you LOSE customers. Now on to 'pick up' or 'to go' orders.... Always quickly cooked but not with any regards to standards. I mean it was all edible but the CARE and QUALITY from our grand opening visit has decreased by half with each and every visit. I can throw a rock from my home in the neighborhood and hit the roof of this restaurant and it doesn't even enter my mind when I'm considering having a prepared meal for dinner or lunch. The 3rd star was a gift because practically everything in Mount Sterling is sub par quality and service. If I lived in Lexington, or Louisville, KY, this place would've gotten a 2 star review. I try to be completely honest when reviewing restaurants so other people can ENJOY or AVOID experiences as I've had myself. read more

So...I'm next door in a hotel not to be named in this review, been traveling all day with only two bags of "mini pretzels" from airline "x". I knew I was going to be here and after makingnan off-hand comment, a peer from the Rockies told me about this place. I believe it's a relatively new spot... Raw pine slats and galvanized tin decor. Had a cheeseburger, a standard, that was charred expertly. Tap tower nothing to brag about, but they do have the full bourbon trail!!! Alcohol service on Sunday to boot. Staff very friendly and so were the locals. There is a two-fer from 3-5:30: two entrees and salad bar for $20! Not too shabby. Reason I gave four stars? Food, drink and service are spot on - I asked for Kentucky Silk Pie for desert... it was 86'd so the tarbender offered me bourbon of choice! Hell yeah! Great boss man.... read more

Ok, nothing special. Better than fast food, but not good enough for the price. Things to note, the table bread and cinnamon butter is tasty. The salad bar is average, but I have to say the salad dressings are all pretty bland. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and seasoned fries. The "Swiss" cheese is actually white American, and the fries didn't even have salt on them much less seasoning. I would have ordered something else if I had known the fries wouldn't be seasoned. If you want the BEST salad bar you can find, you may want to look no further! It is always fresh and well stocked. And the broccoli salad...OMG, IT'S SOOOO GOOD!!! I drive over an hour just to get their salad! The rest of their food is really good too. The onion rings are crispy and golden deliciousness. Their burgers are good and their sirloin steak is great (but can be hit or miss if you detest fat like I do). Their hostesses are excellent at getting you seated timely, even when there is a line backed out the door. They have a top notch manager that always makes sure your experience is a good one. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating is the last 2 times I've been there, the servers have been less than attentive, and getting refills have been hard to come by (which is very unusual...they used to be some of the best wait staff out there, I'm not sure what's happening with that...hopefully just bad luck on my part!). read more

A group of us from out of town came here for dinner. Service was extremely slow, and not quite friendly. Ten minutes after ordering we were informed there were more no more sweet potato fries and had to order something else. I ordered a filet medium rare and the waitress wrote down ribeye. When I finally got my filet it was medium well. I sent it back. I was told that the last baked-potato they had was on the plate that I sent back so I had to change that order to french fries. One other person in our party waited for her dinner another ten minutes after the rest of our party had their food. There was no apology, and no offer to fix any issue we had. To top it all off we set outside on the patio and the only light on our end was broken so we ate our food in the dark. Don't waste your money or your time here. read more

We visited our local Cattleman's Steakhouse in Mt Sterling , Ky today to eat lunch with our family . After signing in we waited about 30 minutes , they were somewhat busy . The girl that took our name when we signed in called our name , we went to the greeting desk where she asked us to follow her to our table . When we got to the back dining area she told us she was sorry and had us wait again . She said she would get us a table soon . Some friends of ours came in well after us , had the same amount of people in their party , minus 1 child and were seated and were eating while we still stood there and waited . My family was getting aggravated so I went back up to the girl that signed us in and asked her how long it was going to be ? She said they were cleaning the table now . We still waited and was not called . My family told me they were not waiting any longer and we were leaving . As were we're getting ready to leave my son heard the young girl say that took our name " we're going to have to seat them they're complaining" they were tables available that were empty that we could have sat at that were clean but they never offered to seat us . And you might think that I don't understand how it works but I worked at steak houses for years and I do know how it works . Knowing my husband we will never be back .
