    Cattleman's in Georgetown!
    Rob G.

This is my third visit to Cattleman's Roadhouse and I have to say each time I visit I like it more. The restaurant is very welcoming, the staff is always extremely courteous and helpful. I have had steak, chicken and last night I ordered the whitefish dinner. I've never been dissatisfied with any of the meals, and the extensive salad bar is always well stocked and clean. The place can be very busy, especially on the weekends. I recommend you arrive earlier rather than late as you will encounter long wait times for a table. But that is not unusual for the popular restaurants in Georgetown. I will definitely return and look forward to dining at Cattleman's again soon.

Well this is a first! I've never eaten at the same restaurant more than once during the same vacation. We've eaten here four times on this vacation. That's how good it is. All four times we had the daily special, which is a great value. About $15. You get an entree, a side, AYCE salad bar, and their delicious rolls! The salad bar is packed with goodies, including the best broccoli salad. We had the steak, country fried steak, and the bourbon glazed steak specials. I ordered my glaze on the side so I could taste the beef. But even better than the food is the service. Sally and Sean are the best servers! They're smart, efficient, and super friendly! We just feel at home here! So much warmth and !

    Buffalo Bites

Fat Man Reviews ventured up to Georgetown to try Cattleman's Roadhouse. Cattleman's is a down-home steakhouse featuring hand-cut meats, burgers & other American eats in a casual space. There are 8 locations throughout central Kentucky. We started with the Buffalo Bites. These come as an order of 6 boneless wings in buffalo sauce. They give you good-sized pieces that are completely covered in sauce. I found the chicken to be tender, juicy, and fried with a nice crispy bite. The sauce is mild and salty with a butter note and a slight heat kick at the end. Ranch or Blue cheese is an option for dipping. I got the Wild Bill's Ribeye, rare, with a loaded baked potato (butter, sour cream, bacon, and green onions). My steak had good grill marks; it was cooked closer to medium rare but was very tender with very little fat. The steak did not have any seasoning, and it could have used at least some salt and pepper to add to the beef flavor. The potato was good-sized, baked about perfectly, and topped with ample toppings making it indeed loaded. Bread is an option with meals as well. My fiancé tried the Daily special, a 6oz sirloin, medium rare, with green beans as her side. Hers was cooked a little under medium rare but had good grill marks while being juicy and tender. As with my steak, hers had no seasoning at all. The green beans were tender and cooked with pork but had no seasoning. Salt and pepper are available on the table, but seasoning food during preparation is an absolute must. Cattleman's menu offers several appetizers, soup and salad, steaks in several cuts, and local entrée favorites typical of a southern steak house. They offer a full bar and several beers on tap. Our server was friendly and attentive. The Fat Man says that Cattleman's Roadhouse is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

Visiting the area to see the Ark Encounter. Dinner there was delicious and reasonably priced. Think Longhorn (but better)!

After leaving yet another distillery, the ladies in our group wanted to head to Georgetown for some shopping. The other guy in our party was about as thrilled at the idea of shopping as he'd be about getting a root canal without anesthesia--and I was in full agreement. As we searched for a parking spot along the crowded Georgetown Main Street, I spotted Chinquapin Brewing and immediately declared that the men would be there. "Just come pick us up when you're done," I told them. My wife and our friend were more than happy to leave us in front of TVs and beer while they wandered in and out of the local shops. It was the first time either of us had been to the brewery. Right away, I loved seeing the brewing equipment set up in the back of the bar. We scanned the QR code on the table and pulled up the beer menu. I'm a big fan of red ales and was happy to see one offered. My friend is less adventurous than I am, so he stuck with his tried-and-true Guinness. I opened a tab, and we started enjoying our beers. The red ale was very good--so good that I ordered more than one. My friend's Guinness was going down way too easily, and he ordered another as well. Eventually, the ladies came to retrieve us, and my wife even added a bourbon to my tab. We sat together and enjoyed one last round. We didn't try any food, but the beer and the service were excellent. I'm already looking forward to our next "shopping trip" to Georgetown so I can sample more of their offerings.

Unfortunately they didn't have growlers and weren't able to fill mine. Ended up getting a can of the hefeweizen, it was very malt forward and just not my favorite. The pizzas seem pretty solid, they make them fresh so they come out fresh and hot. The beesting was pretty good, I was expecting more flavor from the hot honey and I really couldn't taste the basil.

Rodney's is a genteel bar/eatery in a restored house with an upmarket seafood & steak menu, plus outdoor seating. For our opening course, we tried the Sea Divers Scallops. These were tandoori-rubbed and served with a sweet Thai chili sauce. The scallops had a good sear and a slight crunch, with the tandoori rub offering a mild, earthy kick and a hint of chili powder flavor. The scallop was light and melted in your mouth. The Thai chili sauce added a sweet heat combo that complemented the scallops perfectly. We then shared the Lobster Bisque, which our server recommended. The bisque was very creamy, with a slightly thicker, velvety texture than typical bisques. It was so creamy that it almost tasted like it had cheese in it, which it did not. It had a salty, slightly paprika-spiced flavor, while the sherry added a slight nutty note. This was an excellent dish and worth the drive itself. For my main course, I ordered the Lamb Chops. They were char-grilled with roasted garlic mint demi-glace and the Potato de jur, which is smoked Gouda au gratin. My lamb was spot-on medium-rare; however, the char was a little hard and bitter, especially on the edges. This was present in most bites. The mint sauce added a touch of sweetness and depth to the meat's flavor. The potatoes were cooked through and offered a slight chew. The Gouda was creamy and nutty, pairing well with the potatoes, though it needed a bit more seasoning. My wife chose the Filet for her main course. She ordered it medium rare with Weisenberger white cheddar grits and green peppercorn cream sauce. Her grits were cooked well and not overdone; the cheddar was only topped on the dish and not melted into it, but it did offer a sharp bite. We both found them to be bland and in need of seasoning. The peppercorn sauce was creamy, with the onions adding texture, crunch, and a slight sweetness, while the peppercorns popped with flavor and mild heat. The steak was seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare; it melted in your mouth. However, the hard char on the edges added a heavy, bitter flavor to most bites. Rodney's menu features appetizers, soups, salads, prime beef selections, entrees, side dishes, and desserts. They offer a full bar with beer and soda selections. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will offer suggestions and advice. The Fat Man says that Rodney's on Broadway is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.
