Our first time at this amazing lounge was a great experience. We made our way upstairs and were greeted by a sweetheart of a waitress named Ella. There was a great modern/country ambiance. There was even balcony seating with views of the down town square. Drinks tasted great and Ella even crafted them. My fiancé and I devoured our fillet mignon and chicken linguine. They were both cooked to perfection. We saved room for dessert and omg it was so worth it. The Brown Butter Cake was mouth watering. It's a must have. The food was great and so was Ella! We stayed at the Paso Robles inn last month and a perk of our hotel stay was two free glasses of wine at the cattlemen's lounge, or drinks at another place in town that was closed that day. We stopped in before we had reservations somewhere else for dinner to redeem our free glasses of wine and were disappointed after we ordered a glass of Prosecco and a Cab and were given our bill to find that our deal was only good for " house wine" that equated to $6 each glass ( $12 credit total)That was honestly insulting being in wine country, full of good wine and being offered $6 dollar glasses of low quality wine. We looked on their menu and not one single glass on it was $6 so honestly it just felt tacky and lame that the hotel and the restaurant even included that as part of their hotel package. I must admit, we stopped in not only because we were staying at the Paso Robles Inn, but also because it reminded us of Cattleman's Ranch from Fresh off the Boat. Even though there wasn't a Louis, Eddie, Jessica, or a success perm in sight, we did enjoy the drinks and the food we were able to order at the bar from the steakhouse downstairs. The shrimp cocktail and calamari were good,but the standout was the steak bites. I'm an onion and tomato fanatic and this dish didn't disappoint. It was a perfect explosion of grilled sirloin, garlic toast, chipotle aioli, tomatoes, and onion. Be sure to bring your mouthwash. The drinks were okay, but at the food and people-watching made up for that. In all, this spot was convenient and served it's purpose. Oh my goodness what a god of a bartender we had the privilege of serving us. We didn't catch his name but whoever you are with the brown curly hair you saved our night. Full disclosure, we had way too much wine, were hungry as hell, and just praying the kitchen was still open. You hooked it up no judgements even though we were putting in a last minute order. For what its worth the drinks looked excellent, we just could not do any more alcohol that night. Thank you. Bro. You have never had Brussel sprouts like what you can get from the kitchen (which our bartender carried upstairs to us). Unreal. We reserved a table for eight. The restaurant was nice and accommodated our request to move up the time at the last minute even though they were busy with other large groups. Ambiance was fine and the seating was comfortable. Everyone commented that their food was very delicious however for temperature, it was at best warm. Some portions were actually cold. The bread was the warmest dish on the table. Even the baked potatoes failed to melt the butter. My prime rib was cool but tender and flavorful. The green beans were tasty and crisp. The menu offers several choices so everyone in your party should find something to your liking. One person had the Brown Butter Cake dessert and it was fabulous. Service was just OK. Not sure it justified the mandatory 20% tip. Our guy must have gotten sidetracked as on one occasion the hostess offered to get our water glasses refilled and when it needed to be done again, another server stopped by on her own and filled them. The waiter refused to accommodate separate checks even though everyone sat in pairs. He said the restaurant would not let him do it. I suggest you go in smaller parties. We wanted a good burger and a cocktail one evening so we decided to check out Cattlemen's Lounge for a recent night out and we certainly are glad we did! The reviews were mixed, but as you can see by my five star review, my gut decision to pop in and see for myself was the right call. We were instantly welcome in by the friendly bartender, grabbed a seat in the corner booth so we could see the venue and get a glimpse of the outside patio which overlooks the park. It's happy hour Monday through Friday from 3-6pm and we made the cut off by ordering some cocktails. I got the dirty martini with blue cheese olives - deelish! And my husband got an IPA. Their cocktail menu is impressive, it was difficult to choose which one I wanted to start with. We also ordered some Brussels Sprouts and they were delicious. Loved the sauce that was fizzled upon them, however, they were bit too charred. I love crunchy sprouts but these were a minute too long on the fire. We decrypted them none the less. And since we craved a good burger, we both orders up their Cattlemen's cheeseburger. Tasty and the side of fries were well cooked. Only $11, too! We left satiated and liked the prices for our casual dinner out. For the prior reviews that mentioned lack of staff, we didn't see that on a Friday evening. There were three staff members, all being attentive to tables, and we were impressed by how quickly food came it and how carefully crafted my cocktail was. My friend Judy and I had lunch Wednesday and I had the Cobb salad. It comes with sliced steak cooked to order. I requested medium rare. The steak came tender and had a good bbq flavor. I loved it. The salad had enough items to keep me interested and it was filling. It came with about 4 pieces of sour dough baguette sliced with real butter. This is one of my go to spots due to the fact that I stay at The Paso Inn on a regular basis. The food is okay, the price is a little high for the quality. I typically stick to the bar menu, but there is some overlap between the bar menu and the restaurant downstairs. I like the bar upstairs because the service is great, there are always cool locals around, and you can sit outside and get a view of the town square. As for the beer, they do a majority of local breweries which I like. If you are into cocktails, I think they have every liquor under the sun. I really like the house salad with Shrimp, they are cooked to perfection. I also recommend the steak bites. They are the end cuts from the steaks for downstairs, but still delicious. It's served with croutons, too much in my opinion, but my favorite part of the dish is the pickled onions...it ties the dish together very nicely. What a nightmare! We were a large party ready for a nice lunch and Cocktails, decided to come in an hour before the parade ended so there wasn't a huge crowd. Just as we thought there was only a couple tables with costumers. The server nicely put tables together to accommodate us and took our drink orders. Sadly, it was 45 min later when we asked the manager. ( older lady, curly reddish hair, bummed I didn't get her name.). where are drinks and food was and why outside customers were coming in, in parties of 6-8 to order drinks at the bar and leave with to/ go cups. She said they come first.. what?! When I explained again we've been waiting for close to an hour she told me we can leave. She was very rude and unapologetic. Not a good person to be dealing with the public. She said they were busy, and there machine wasn't printing orders as she was replacing printer paper. I would think being the manager she would have figured that out early on especially since she and her staff saw us sitting so long with nothing. They finally quickly made us drinks and when she (the manager) brought them to us I asked if our cocktails can be comped, she rudely said "No, I can't give you free drinks". No apology,no smile, nothing. We weren't looking for a hand out but what!? We were planning on drinking more and hanging out. I was shocked at her response. They could have made a ton of money on us but we left!' All of us, up and gone. Sadly by her unprofessional behavior they lost on food and drinks. We are a local group, live right here in Paso Robles. I personally have not experienced this type of behavior at the Paso Inn before and normally love it, but I do know of friends that have encountered this same manager and have not been pleased with her either. Nice updated restaurant with great ambiance. We had a rib eye and a filet. Both cooked to perfection. Wonderful place to go in Paso Robles. Great service too! This cocktail lounge is in the Paso Robles Inn, on the second floor. I was in town for a wedding and stopped by for a nightcap. The crowd was decidedly local. And what a bunch of colorful characters! Staff was friendly and the pours were generous. I'll be back next time in town. read more

My dinner partner had a hair in her dinner. The waiter apologized and offered to replace the dinner but she declined. She couldn't finish her dinner it ruined her appetite. The waiter brought over a dessert that he said was being offered by the manager. The manager never made any attempt to come over and apologize. When the waiter brought the bill he asked if we needed a box for her dinner. Huh? Wtf! If anything her dinner should have been deleted from the bill. Then on top of this horrible experience they put on the cost of the dessert at $12 but then took it off at the price of $11! So after having to pay for her dinner with the hair we also had to pay $1 for a "free" dessert. We were told in advance this restaurant had gone downhill but we were willing to give them a chance since we hadn't been here before. Not worth the high prices. Classic old feel... nothing new or hipster... its fantastic but it needs a bit of life. the bar feels tiny for the space its in needs a good makeover it looks awkward and dated. the art is great on the wood rafters. Our bartender tj was funny and gave us great advice on where to go and what we should do...she also makes a mean drink. I only wanted one and had 3. The brussel sprouts and artichoke are a must. Been here several times and have had some hits and misses over the years. Last night was a definite miss. Peter, our waiter, was wonderful. Very nice and professional. The food, not so nice. I wasn't very hungry and ordered a side of mushroom risotto. It was delicious. My partner ordered the clam chowder. It was cold. They replaced it very quickly so they obviously nuked it. Then the pork chop entree arrived. It was swimming in a very sweet maple pecan sauce. It was plated on top of cheesy mashed potatoes and green beans. You couldn't taste either one of those because of the amount of sauce poured over the meal. He couldn't eat the majority of it. We knew that it had the sauce as described, but had no idea that it would cover everything. To make up for it Peter tried to give us a dessert, which we don't eat and ended up taking 50% off of the entree. As I said, he was great but the food was not. read more

I had lunch here last week, and the food was great, I had the Reuben Sandwich with fries, a classic done right, why mess with a good thing and try to spin this sandwich. Service was attentive and made sure I was taken care of, the waitress topped off my ice tea 3 times before I could get close to finishing it this is service. The restaurant was clean and tidy. The sandwich was hot, tasty and made with all the right components: rye bread, pastrami (corned beef is also good for this but I prefer pastrami for this sando) Russian dressing, sauerkraut and swiss cheese YUM! The food, however, was ok compare to the price. I ordered prime rib french dip sandwich along with a glass of wine, red of course. The prime rib sandwich was not too bad. The meat was decent, cooked enough to taste the juicy prime rib. I asked for horse radish to be placed inside the sandwich, but when my mouth bite into the bread, I was unable to taste the horse radish with the prime rib. I looked in the sandwich, and I saw a slight layer of horse radish; perhaps, they should have put more on the side in case I wanted more (or maybe I could have asked). I also asked for no salt on my fries, but there were salts on my fries. Probably the only best part of the meal was the wine, and the restaurant did not have to make it. Service was not too bad. The bartender attended to us frequently. Very nice. Rating Food: 3 For the price, not worth it. I would have rather gone to In & Out. I ordered medium well steak which Was soo chewy it gagged me. I am a total texture person and my steak was way undercooked. This is not a get what you pay for restaurant. More like your paying ALOT for horrible service and food to boot. First time shame on you, second time shame on us because honestly they didn't even deserve it. We went upstairs to the lounge so we could watch the game while we ate. We were not greeted in any way. We grabbed a table in the mostly empty room. The bar was full with 6 locals and there was one other table with a family of four. Eventually Mike, the bartender, came by and said he be with us in a minute. He said he was working alone until 6:00. It didn't look too daunting to me. After we had been sitting there for about fifteen minutes Mike finally took our drink order: a draft beer and a bottle of cider. Nothing complicated or requiring mixing. He didn't offer us menus. After he left I went and grabbed a menu from a table nearby. After fifteen more minutes and still no drinks we left. They have internet, kid friendly, usually decent service, a fire place for cooler days and a TON of history, which just makes this place feel comfy. We came to this lounge on a Tuesday evening. Our bartender/server was Kyle. The lounge was empty but that did not detour us from staying. This place had a very comfortable vibe. We wanted beers and Kyle recommended a few beers after we told him what we were looking for. He was so knowledgeable with the choices which was amazing! While it's nice they are at least DRESSED....maybe some nice, more FEMININE scoop necked shirts (no, cleavage not necessary)....jeans....whatever! SO, let's start this off by saying that this old-school, down-home, home-town Inn sports bar and lounge is pretty damn cool....excellent bartenders and the bar food fare is amazing!
